South Bay Hardware is the kind of local hardware store you expect with workers who are familiar with home repairs. They are super friendly and helpful. They are more focused on helping you find the right parts than on just making a profit. I had an issue with my water drainage around my house and one worker helped me brainstorm a low-cost solution. This is just one of the few problems they helped with since I discovered them a few months ago. So glad they are here. read more

I called in advance for a sewer plug and the staff was very courteous and knowledgeable about the exact part that I needed. When I arrived they directed me to the product I needed and provided me with the tool I needed too. The prices are also very fair and competitive with bigger name places. Easily a ten star review. We used to go to ace up the street but that's long gone these days and it was very much hit or miss. First off this place is spotless. And well stocked. We went by yesterday to look around. My mom found a pair of leather gardening gloves in her favorite color. The gardening section was great. We cruised the bbq section and they have a nice assortment of both supplies and grills. The paint selection was huge and good. But the customer service fantastic!!! I needed a filter and unfortunately I wasn't sure what size. I went back today and mine was smaller than what they had in stock. We tried to see if they could order it for me but it's an Amazon specific filter for about $50. The guy actually went to the trouble to custom cut a filter for me that was $5. Seriously above and beyond my expectations. The staff here are amazing !!! Thank you for all your help. read more

SBH was very quick to respond to me and address the frustration I had experienced with their customer service which I had presented in my last review. Dan the general manager communicated with me right away and was very considerate and understanding. He expressed that he wanted to make things right. He came over to my home today and fixed the problem adjusting things right with the rollers on my screen door. I've been here alone a few times and found it charming initially. I was going to show it to my partner for the first time we were having a nice chill Saturday morning, thought we would pop over next door grab some juice and buy some paints after and browse. A man walked out and started yelling at us and said we had to purchase something to park and was super aggressive in the parking lot I said I would buy something because I had the intention of shopping at this store but realized what if they didn't have the paint I needed and I just ended up browsing and didn't really feel like having to prove that I'm a legitimate customer or buying something just to park which is silly. I can only speculate that maybe the aggression was because we are lgbt and two girls holding hands bothers him or if he was genuinely angry about the order that we parked and went into the store. I recommend Anza True Value Hardware on 190th they're way friendlier just go there instead. read more

Customer service is great, the products however, not so good. Not all the products but in my previous experience. The shower cartridge extracted tool was a waste for me sadly. The flux to use on copper soldering is complete trash. Again, it's not to discredit the store's reputation since it's a small business. Quality goods would be a preference. read more

This place has been an excellent addition to the neighborhood. The staff is friendly, the store stays clean/organized, and they've got a great mix of hard to find pieces and everyday items. They didn't have the exact size on an item I needed and took the time to special order it, then call me when it came in - also, they're not afraid to recommend another store if you're having trouble finding a product. Old school family style business with all of the new/updated brands you expect. I'll pay the extra dollar or two here just to skip the madness at the big box store. read more

Update on the Screens: I called the store because I couldn't get one of the new screens inserted and went back the next day to retrieve the old screens to put back in. Apparently the "screenman" had a discussion with one of the store managers. I had marked on the old screens that I wanted 1/16 of an inch taken off the height and length and had discussed this with the worker taking the order. The store manager wanted to make things right and get me screens that would install properly and easily. "JR" went out of his way to correct the situation and made a big effort to make things right. I am now happy and satisfied with the screen service offered at SBH . read more

Great to have a hardware store in North Redondo again. The place is well stocked and clean. Easy to navigate and the staff is very helpful. We all missed Kurt Hardware when it closed, and I hope South Bay Hardware becomes the go-to place for home repairs and improvements. Their stock of stainless steel fasteners puts West Marine to shame with fasteners for boats and any outdoor construction you may have in mind. Chock full of paints and coatings as well. This is such an amazing store. They have such exceptional customer service. Initially I thought they wouldn't have the inventory that I needed, but they have TONS of inventory. Often, I can find something there that I would not have been able to find at a bigger home improvement store. Furthermore, the staff are readily available to help. They don't have a large lumber section, but plenty for small home improvement projects. So amazed by their overall customer service and inventory and I couldn't recommend this store enough. read more
