Last night I had the chance to check out this "local" bar for the Rush Tribute (done by Deja). I've never been to this bar, but have driven past it several times. The place was packed to the hilt, staff did a great job making sure the drinks were flowing (very little wait time) and that the crowd was behaving. This place offers weekly specials and last night was no different. $10 B-B-Q plate (chicken, pulled pork, and ribs) with coleslaw. Not a bad deal for delicious BBQ, and a large portion at that! The place was packed. But from what I saw, you need to arrive early if you want a place to sit. Rail seating at the bar is plentiful, and there are a few booths and tall table tops as well. Parking is extremely limited in front but there is additional parking out behind the bar. Got a beer and the waitress couldn't even pronounce the name of the only IPA there were but she was friendly and kept checking on us but we came to eat dinner and we decided against eating food on the greasy table and loud music and bar folk talking. Let me say right off the bat this restaurant isn't getting four stars because of perfect service, cleanliness, or amazing food. They're getting four stars because they were friendly and welcoming and because the experience they provided was highly entertaining and will be remembered by my family for years to come. First off, I'm not a local, and this was very clearly a local joint. Second, we didn't plan on coming here. I was running in a nearby park and my kids were playing. We were disgusting and sweaty but so hungry we didn't want to go shower and change before eating. This did not end up being a problem. So we walk in, and there's a lot of people hanging out at the bar who all seem to know each other. Nobody is at the tables or booths. Nobody is eating. Everyone's a bit older than my husband and I, no kids. We stood there uncertainly for a bit before seating ourselves at a grubby booth (no clean ones to be seen) and my kids were captivated immediately by the tv screen showing an endless montage of puppies while a jukebox played Led Zeppelin in the background. Ok, nice touch, I was in damp workout clothes so kinda hypocritical to complain about the fingernail clipping I found in the seat next to me. Other reviews say the food is good so I'm game. A very friendly waitress greets us and takes our drinks order. My husband remarks afterwards that she seemed drunk or high. She kept forgetting what drinks we'd ordered (two sprites, a beer, and a coke), but got it right in the end. When we go to order food they're out of like half the menu. I'm starting to find it amusing, my first two choices aren't available but they have lumpia so I'm excited to have the kids try that. We place our order and wait, my husband watching the flirtation and attempts at seduction taking place at the bar among the older singles while my younger child squeezes and prods my face for entertainment. Oh, and he also loudly repeated me reading another Yelp review about how locals apparently call this place the Wrinkle Room. Hopefully nobody heard him? We wait a long time. Our waitress is visible here and there, tending bar, talking to a coworker, but no food. We wonder if she's forgotten us. They do seem short staffed but we really aren't sure. Finally our waitress approaches, flustered, explaining other food will be done soon, they're short as staff haven't returned since Covid lockdowns. We recognize this and I smile, tell her it's fine, we were wondering if maybe they were out of something but we're in no rush and as a nurse I totally understand short staffing. Our waitress - wish I could remember her name - will not be soothed. She insists on buying me a beer (just me, not my husband) and though I assure here it's fine and we get it, the beer appears in seconds. So I have to drink it of course. I'm a lightweight and quickly get tipsy. Our food arrives - it's pretty good! Nothing above and beyond, nothing that stands out, but good. They forgot our lumpia. It's fine, turns out our meals are huge anyway. The possibly not sober waitress kindly and happily takes our picture. We eat, another staff member brings us the bill. We leave cash in the table for the bill and tip. I'm dying laughing. I love this place. You should definitely check it out. read more

Made us feel so welcome! We heard the South Beach Grill was great so checked it out on Prime Rib Wednesday. We had a deal of a great meal for $10.99, cooked medium rare as asked. It was just a little bit noisy, with lots of regulars that showed me it must be worth coming back to! Our sweet young server Abigail took great care of us, checked on us often, and used her sweet sense of humor when 90 year old Sam flirted with her. Everyone is so nice! Matt the legend, her boss, goofing around in a blond wig, backed up the servers, keeping everyone in drinks and making sure we all had a wonderful experience. Absolutely love this place! They have a great space for live music and it's not so loud you can't hear yourself think! The bar is directly in front of you when you walk in with booths along each side of the wall. There is a pool table near the stage and a small dance floor. Service was amazing! Every bartender and waitress was spot on and I never had to wait for a drink! There were a lot of people in the place for the band, but it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. Everyone could still move and dance around with ease. Now this is the older crowd late 30s and up, which is a blessing because I don't feel like everyone's mom... i.e., rare to see 20 somethings! This is definitely a go to spot for great bands, great people, and a great time! read more

Javanna was very unprofessional and lied to us on Saturday night and they were not even busy. Tanni on the other hand was very quick to serve both of us and was pleasant to chat with. Great value. Friendly staff. This is the 50-something singles hang out. We went there with two adults and four kids. Two drinks and five meals later, we left satisfied, spending only $62+ tip. I got the feeling the place picks up later on, but at 6pm on a Sunday, it was dead. The food was just okay, but a good value for the price. Medium burgers were a little dry. Mac n cheese bites were not hot in the middle, but my eight year old had no complaints. Great vacation stop for families. read more

I'd always passed by this place and wondered "what are they doing in there?" as I debated why there were so many cars parked outside of this little bar in a small shopping center at the corner of Birdneck Road and Norfolk Avenue. The answer is that South Beach Grill has all your comforts of a neighborhood bar: foosball tables, pool tables, live bands every night, and a dance floor. Frequented mostly by your forty and up crowd, classic rock cover bands set the mood with this friendly crowd. Asked to watch the Celtics game and rob the owner came up to me and was more than accommodating!!! Large portions of food as well! My friends and I came here a couple weekends ago to hang out. When we got in, we sat at a table with birthday decorations on it. The people that were throwing the birthday party insisted that we sat there. It was a little awkward but my friend ended up knowing someone that was part of the birthday party. The people there were all so nice! I'm not only talking about the people that were part of the birthday party- but just everyone there in general. The waitress was super awesome. We told her we wanted a fruity, yet not too sweet shooter- she recommended the "hillbilly". We loved it! We had about 4 of those lol! Out back is the smoking area with seats and a little game that you can play. How you play the game is, you take a ring on a string and toss it and try to get the ring to catch the nail on the other end. I got it on my second try. Some of the people back there cheered for me :) When my friends and I went in, the man that was outback randomly bought us all a round of drinks. I really enjoyed myself here. LOVED THIS PLACE! My boyfriend and I were recently there on a business trip and searching for places to eat. It was a Monday night and kind of slow but we decided to check it out anyways. Everyone there was very very nice and made us feel right at home. The prices were great and the food even better. It cheap and they give you a lot of food!! Apparently, where all the cougars go to hang out. It's a cool dive bar off of Bird Neck Rd. The surrounding area can be a little sketch but I'm cool with checking this place out for a few brews. I popped in last Friday and they had a live band in the house (wish I remember their name because the band was awesome). People were having a good time. The bartenders were giving good service...hardly a wait for a drink. I think beers were only $2.50 a piece, too. A few years ago I had their prime rib and remembered it tasting spectacular. This is a neighborhood bar and most people are locals. It has a friendly atmosphere and good bands...a variety. The bar food is very good and sometimes I stop in to eat chicken wings. The crowd here likes to dance and the people are generally outgoing. Its mostly a older crowd 40 and up but anyone could have fun here. I am in my mid 30's and this place made me feel like I was 20 again! I say that because I was by far one of the youngest people in the place. It was packed, packed with old people. Everyone was having fun though. The beer was a little over priced for my liking but all in all, not a bad. A friends band was playing so we stayed all night. I will go back again if a band I like is playing but I would not go here to grab a beer. ** Just bumped this up to three stars. I went last night and had the nachos and lumpia. Hello! New diamond in the rough! Yeah the crowd is older but I found the South Beach Grill, AKA the Wrinkle Room (jokes, jokes) to be awesome and I will return. The owner (regretfully her name I have forgotten) is so fun and inviting. She is proud of her bar and should be! The live music was great, there is ample room on the dance floor, the layout of the bar is unique, and they have an excellent variety to the menu. Power hour has $1 drinks to include wine and liquor. It seems to be non-smoking because during the two hours I was there I only saw one person smoke and I think they were trying to be sneaky. The bathrooms are super clean. Let me talk to you about this place! Omg.... crazy amazing staff! They will go above and beyond for you. I'm not just talking about what they do for our community. That surpasses anything I could write or you could comprehend or compare to. But just a regular person... the bar and wait staff... they really do go to great lengths to impress you. I can give many examples, but I will give tonight's experience as my example. Tonight I smelled an obnoxiously amazing meal next to me and I asked if the kitchen was closed. I've run and owned restaurants. You do NOT want to piss off the kitchen staff. Never a good idea. I was very clear... if it's closed down, no big deal. Seth... the bartender said to give him a second. That the kitchen was closed, but he may be able to work something out. I said don't even worry about it. I'm not trying to piss off the Chef. Less than 5 min later he finds me outside asking how I want my steak. Y'all.... this place as always been good to me. They adore tourists and locals alike. They do a ton for the community, and our local hero's. They always seem to try and out do themselves constantly, which makes me appreciate them that much more! The bar and wait staff are always amazing... and the owner always gives a little more. She's the epitome of our own little Hometown Hero for our big time hero's. Not a place I like to hang out at or even visit. The crowd is a bunch of old people who are trying to be 21 again. Pretty darn sad.

My friend's band has played here a few times, and each time I go I feel like the young kid on the block. The food is good, the drinks are reasonably priced but the crowd is way over my age range and I feel out of place. When I am on the dance floor I feel fearful someone will slip a hip out of place. Let me start by saying i'm new to the area and was really looking for a nice place I could go out and enjoy myself without feeling like I'm in a college bar surrounded by children. And I believe I've found that with the South Beach Grill, I was over joyed with how warm and welcoming the service was and how I really felt at home. The live music Is just incredible as the acoustics of the bar were ever so perfect as each note softly flowed into my ears. Furthermore the decorations around the holidays are not to go unrecognized, you can really feel the staff put a lot of effort into making the place look fun and festive. I went here once with some friends that wanted to see a specific band that was playing that night. Overall, I felt the place was a little dive-y for my taste, but I still had a lot of fun. This bar seems to cater to an older crowd, but they seem to be very inviting and friendly. The staff behind the bar is excellent - they were quick and heavy-handed on the drinks, and often referred to all of us by name which made the experience a bit more personal.
