Went for breakfast while on vacation, the menu has everything. Everyone can find something that they like on the menu. Our waitress gave us ample time to order and did not rush. The toast option on the meals can be one of the following: rye, wheat, white, croissant I thought the croissant was a nice addition to my moonlight special #1, it gives you the option to make a breakfast sandwich. The fruit was fresh and potatoes were flavorful. The eggs were my favorite part. If we come back to Cape Coral for vacation we will be back to South Cape Diner. read more

The food was average but acceptable. The service was fine and as expected for a diner. I was very disappointed to see people allowed in with 2 puppies and a dog. The waitress played with the puppies and one dog was placed on the table. I didn't see the waitress wash her hands after playing with the puppies. Found this little gem by way of Google search. There was plenty of seating and the dining room was nicely decorated. Our server was training a new hire and they were both friendly and courteous. We both ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was delicious! Our eggs were a perfect over easy and the biscuit was flaky and soaked up all of that sausage gravy goodness. Went in on a Tuesday at about 1:30 to have lunch, not busy at all, 4 tables. No greeting, no personal present. About 4 minutes went by and server came out, saying she would be right with us. 3 minutes later, she loudly across the restaurant (not large), what you having to drink. Then approached with menus and took order for drinks. Few minutes later placed order. Wife had Chicken Club Wrap, I ordered Tuna Sandwich, both came with fries which in a starless lunch was the star of the show. Interesting enough, while the menu never talks about being toasted, my Tuna Sand came out toasted (never asked for that), and wife's wrap was pressed, again not in menu description. That in and of itself did not change the outcome, because both were not good. Wrap had dried out chicken and Tuna was tasteless. No seasoning at all in the mix. Server never asked about refills, in fact only time we saw her was while she was filling jelly sleeves, and note...no first in, first out rotation being used, so beware of those on bottom. One done, which we did notveat all, waited 10 minutes for a bill. Server was nice enough, just not experienced and likely not being coached on much. We went there this morning on a whim. Sept. 20, 2025 I ordered the eggs Benedict don't bother! The cook has no idea how to make hollandaise sauce. It's horrible! One egg was cooked the other was not. The hash browns were served flat and way too crispy. Gordon Ramsay would have thrown this plate out! So we wanted to try a place few doors down but it was a 40 minute wait. I know this is bad, but 40 minutes means an hour and no breakfast is that good . So we walked until we saw another place to eat. Yes. it's kind of a greasy spoon but the server was great, people were nice and although it took 25 minutes for the food to come out, mine was really good. My husband however, did not understand the concept of the ham and cheese on top of the omelette instead of inside it unless it was an afterthought. Went here for breakfast with my daughter. Located in a roadside strip mall of sorts, this place may not look like a typical Jersey diner, but it does have the feel. Service was very attentive. Coffee was good. And the food was also good. Cleanliness was not spotless as there were many crumbs on the seat and in the gap in the back. Why do workers always forget to look down? My mom is already going to be disappointed that this is still a two-star review because she was ready to go with the one-star. We had our Saturday lunch at South Cape Diner. When we entered, the dining room was rather full and a little loud, so we were seated outside at the tables facing the parking lot. We were the only diners out here the whole time, so that might not have helped. Our waitress took our order quickly enough and did appear later to clear off some of the other tables but after 25 minutes without our food, Mom decided to make it a thing and went inside. It turns out that not only had the kitchen lost our order, but our waitress had completely forgotten about us. I get the order being lost - that happens - but how do you completely forget to bring people food? When it arrived, my omelet was good. Oversized, well stuffed with onions, peppers, ham and cheese. Mom enjoyed my toast and the grits. I don't know that we'll be back to South Cape. You may get a different experience sitting inside but if you can't deal with outside tables then don't have them. We come to the South Cape Diner pretty often, and always enjoy the attentive service and large portions. Today my friend who lives in Ft. Myers met me there. She was taken aback by the sign that said you would get a surcharge if you used a credit card. I decided to eat there anyways and our waitress kept the coffee and tea coming. I had the scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage and bacon. I had tomatoes as a side. The portion was very large, enough for two. She was disappointed because they don't offer any gluten free bread. If i could rate this place zero stars i would but its not an option. We walked in with 4 adults and two children. No one greeted us. We were eventually sat and no one greeted us. We had to ask for someone to help us. After 10 more minutes of waiting, We placed the order. After another 20 minutes, my wife had to go ask to see if we could get at least the children's drinks so they wouldn't start crying. She replied "I forgot the drinks, what do they want?" I asked her " we are missing her 2 eggs meal" she replied " oh shit i forgot let me go get it" she still took care of 3 other tables before even going to the kitchen. after an additional 10 minutes she came back saying that she forgot and it was her fault and they were making it again because it sat in the window. She came back 20 mins later with just two eggs. No sausage, no patties, no toast. Then ignored my wife and spoke to others at the table about the situation as if my wife wasn't there. Not sure if it's because the waitress is racist or homophobic but either way we should have known when we walked in and were the only table with a person of color in it. Long story short. We finally got up and got our own after waiting several minutes. Our food came out cold - in fact the pancake was like a brick. The worst place I have ever visited! No one greets you upon arrival and another guest had to let us know they just sat down so we should just grab a table. We were able to order coffee but the waitress just dropped it off before we could ask for some milk. After trying to ask her for milk as she walked by, the waitress very loudly snaps at me to say, "can't you see my hands are full and that I need to wait until she comes around again!" A friend took me here a month or so ago and I only get corned beef hash and poached eggs for breakfast when I'm out. It's my favorite breakfast food. It was perfect. Second time my wife and I dine outside as we had Baxter with us. I order the same and Kathy does too except she likes her eggs medium. Again cooked perfect. The owner was at a table next to us and he personally cooked our meals, Third time this morning I got there and order sourdough toast dark, hash well done and poached eggs soft. Absolutely perfect. I should have left. Service and staff over all was excellent. Ah but the food. !!! I decided on the comfort food.Meatloaf,mash taters and cole slaw. 10 bucks..... Oh so wrong. First the cole slaw. Though it was fresh and crunchy it was just horrible with a very sour vinegar dressing. There was no mash potatoe. The potatoe were out of the box with too much liquid... It was like eating runny malt-o-meal. The gravy was box too.Tasted very good. Dark color but no bits of beef to be seen. The meat loaf was like a slice of dark rye bread. Heavy tasted horrible. Was really hoping for better because I've seen some nice pics, but could barely eat my $20 omelet and coffee :( 90% of my hashbrowns were burnt. Omelet was wet from too many veggies. Wasn't sure if there was cheese on omelet, but perhaps that was the type of cheese included? Wasn't told sour dough bread was extra. Waitress only came by once to top off my coffee and didn't ask how my meal was, or if I needed anything. Great prices this place had a great menu, awesome prices, super service, and the food was awesome!!! And our table we had a wide variety of things. Pancakes or probably the fluffiest and lightest pancakes I've ever eaten. The bacon was thick cut and fried crispy. The ham was excellent, the eggs were very fluffy and fresh, and the home fries were delicious. We substitute as English muffins for the toast and they were huge. Our waitress kept our drinks full, checked in on us often, and she was a pleasure. We were all just shocked and how wonderful the food was and how affordable it was to eat there!!! Our only regret was not finding this place earlier during our vacation as it was just down the street from the house we rented.
