I really hate leaving bad reviews, I'd much rather leave great ones. I love breakfast & I hate wasting money & calories on bad food. Here is my cons, really don't have any pros *order at the counter, 3% charge for a credit card usage *a sign on the table saying to put your dirty dishes in the bins across from the soda fountain machine. FU *serve yourself coffee bar which could be great but you're handed a toxic styrofoam cup. There's 3 large steel holders for coffee. Regular, decaf & French vanilla. We wanted decaf, I poured it & it was like old dark mud that came out, when coffee is old & been sitting it has that burnt smell & taste. I mentioned to the employee that the decaf was old & he offered to make more....he did but I'm pretty sure he didn't get rid of the old stuff still in there! I went back up & poured again, same disgusting coffee came out, I pointed it out & he shrugged & I said I'll just have regular coffee, he dumped out the icky decaf & gave me the cups back. *Being called Speckled Egg I would expect a lot of breakfast entries, nope, very little. *We both got omelettes, hub the Philly cheesesteak with home style potatoes which I asked what are the potatoes like & he said little cubed potatoes with onions & green peppers, it was either that or hash browns, ok give him the cubed potatoes. I got a spinach, goat cheese & mushroom omelette, whole grain toast & fruit instead of potatoes. The omelette wasn't bad but wasn't good, the fruit cup was like a Doles, the tiny pieces of fruit. Hubs potatoes went uneaten, he said these taste rubbery, he gave me one & they were inedible. *[[HIGHLIGHT]]It was 1pm & there was ONE other table occupied, we should have left when we saw that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] *Pricey! We paid First Watch or any other great breakfast place prices & got way less than McDonalds quality food & coffee. People do yourself a hard pass on this place, there's a First Watch a few doors down, man I could of had a really fantastic breakfast there & also a new place called The Morning Bloom down a little further north in the big plaza. Speckled egg was the first place we stopped at on vacation. It's a little different in that you order at the counter and then they bring the food out like a Steak N Shake. I went with the biscuits and gravy w/ 2 eggs and fruit cup. Served hot, biscuits were tasty, gravy basic and fruit cup was small but fresh. My husband had the Western Scramble in a wrap with home fries, potatoes were definitely just frozen and heated up. Wrap was tasty but nothing special, sriracha Mayo was delish! My daughter and I stopped in and checked this place out. The food was great and the gal at the register that took our order was kind and patient with explaining the dining experience. You order at a register from the menu and they give you a number to place on your table that a food runner looks for. It's pretty much self service from ordering, to getting your own drinks, to cleaning up your table by putting your plates by the trash cans and your utensils in the water bucket to soak. The "coffee bar" was nice since I drink a lot and could just get my own refills. Nice concept and good food but I did find it odd that there was a "tip" jar huge and plain as day at the register of an establishment that only brings the food to the table. Kind of a slap in the face to the servers that right now don't even make $11/hour and truly work for their tips at a restaurant that is full service (or should). People are so quick to throw a tip jar out when they make $15/hr or so - always expecting more. read more

First time in, worth 4 stars for cleanliness, friendly staff, and ease of decisions (plus the ability to swap a bread), but that doesn't make this "I'm a fan!" worthy. If 4 stars had a different label, I'm sure I'd rate this high. I'm comfortable saying my experience was great, but with the lack of half stars and the label system being worded differently, I'm sorry to rate this a 3. I came in about 12:15 or so, thinking I was going to have a late breakfast but not a full lunch meal. No customers around... I missed the rush, as I am told breakfast (pre 10am) is a zoo. Other friends have visited here and raved about the place; all the more reason I'd like to uprate the Speckled Egg without the label of fandom. That and it being my first time in, I'm sure future visits will change my mind for the star. Driver beware: if you're not paying attention to where the driveway is for this place, you'll miss it. We were looking for "the blue building" and ended up over shooting the entrance, having to turn around in the next plaza. It's literally the driveway after the 7-11 if you're coming from the A & W / Cypress Lake area of McGregor (which I was... I was previously shopping at Big Lots). So quick to pass it (Pawnbroker and Stillwater plaza kind of share the same entrance), that when I left, I thought we could cut through Pawnbroker's part of the lot to get to the Cypress Lake light. No; dead end, turn back around. Food options were plenty to choose from, and I was really hovering on something breakfast like, but ended up with the Asian Miso Chicken Wrap, using a spinach wrap as the outer bread. Choice of side was a little fruit cup (how cute). The person I went with, had the Greek Turkey Delight and asked if it could be on an everything bagel instead of a wrap. Choice of side was potato salad. The Asian Miso Chicken wrap was definitely interesting. With pineapple chunks, crunchy noodles, decent sized pieces of fresh chicken, this wrap was a little messier than expected as the dressing was running everywhere. There was some sort of pepperjack cheese melted in it as well, so the sandwich had a slight kick. Not enough to be bad, but enough to say "I'm here". The Greek Turkey Delight was a surprise as the person eating it said it's deli turkey; they were expecting turkey turkey. Outside of that, the sandwich was good. Nice layer of hummus mixed with all the greens you expect in a Greek salad. This too, ended up being a little messy, but the plate finished. With a coffee and a fountain drink, 45 minutes later, we were out the door. I can say that I had a good meal and can see the hype, but would have to come back to try something else before I commit to say "I'm a fan". read more

A little pricey for the quality of the food, but thats getting harder to judge these days, as everything is getting expensive fast. The coffee was undrinkable. it was either mixed with some flavor coffee or water or something, but it was not good. pet peeve, they brought us our food with the forks and knives laid across the food. that and when waitresses bring the plates to your table with the next dish bottom resting on the food underneath. just gross alll the way around. again, it fills your belly, but there is nothing that stood out. read more

I had BLT plus egg, plus avo, wife had the same thing. The meals come with a choice of sides and a beverage. The dining area isn't huge, but we had a party of 11 and they made it work. My first visit for breakfast was a very satisfying experience. The house coffee is good and there is a larger than normal selection of coffee creamers. We had the omelets: one spinach, mushroom and goat cheese and one ham, sausage and cheese. Both were good, but the goat cheese is the best. 3 stars! Good basic breakfast/lunch in a comfortable diner-like setting! Formally Bagel Bagel, the Speckled Egg Cafe has opened recently after re-branding itself; a new name and logo that are both fun and welcoming. I wouldn't call it a cafe though, as I associate that more with a place that is coffee-focused, with lounge-like decor, and a more intimate setting. Serving both breakfast and lunch, you have the standard options of bagels, eggs, and waffles, but with an extended breakfast menu to include frittata melts, tortilla wraps, signature platters, and crepes n' cakes. I went with the Eggs to Order platter of 2 eggs/bacon/sausage patty/bread/ and hash brown. Basically the kitchen sink of breakfast! My eggs were cooked well and you had the choice of bread, so I had to go with the bagel. As a native New Yorker my bagel expectations are set pretty high, but they held their own. Sadly, the sausage patty and bacon were very salty and the hash brown was a bit cold and undercooked, so I asked for the oatmeal cake side instead. The oatmeal cake was a very interesting concept, but sadly not one that I liked very much. Oatmeal lovers might appreciate it as its a different take on oatmeal, since it is cooked and formed into a bar with a brittle of brown sugar across the top. Way too much of the brown sugar though, which defeats the healthy factor in ordering it. You order from the counter, but they will bring your food to you. Service was nice and quick. Self service coffee, tea, and beverage stations. Free water cup available if you ask. I've found most cafes only have bottled water for purchase, so this was a nice perk. The lunch menu is again pretty standard. The "triple S" of salads, soups, and sandwiches. Extremely spacious with multiple tables and large booths throughout, with a small outdoor seating area as well. Good for both small and large parties. There are a couple of TV's (no sound though) and free WIFI with purchase. Nothing spectacular about the dining experience, but if you are just looking for a simple, straight forward, deli-menu option, without any pomp and circumstance, this is a good place to go! read more

Pros: Fairly fast. Scrambled eggs with cheese were good. Coffee was great. Cons: Undercooked pancakes and crepes. The crepes were pasty and as thick as pita bread. Could not eat them. Place was maintained well, clean and had a pleasant aroma the moment I stepped through the door. The staff were upbeat and provided good service throughout my meal. It was very crowded, seems to be a popular spot. But it's meant for breakfast and brunch so that's to be expected. The bacon was burnt to a crisp and the $8 crepes come with 4 baby rubbery crepes and a sausage patty and burnt bacon. Ordered a cafe con leche which was almost black coffee.
