Popped in for a quick bite and a martini. Our waitress was kind, responsive, and by GOD did she make a perfect martini for me! We also ordered the shrimp appetizer, it was absolutely delicious but quite small. The taste was 10/10, perfect spice level and the wonton crisps were perfectly crispy and fresh without being greasy at all. The lettuce portion is covered in a dressing that creates an added layer to the dish. I love the atmosphere of South Fork, it's dim, romantic, and somehow perfect for a girls (or boys) night out. Great place, I've probably eaten here 50 times to date. However, for some reason it's become acceptable for the staff on their break to watch tv shows on their phones at full volume in the restaurant (big table by the bathrooms). I pay good money to eat here, the food is fantastic but if I wanted to hear someone watching a show on Hulu I'd go to Chipotle. A real ambiance killer. Also - have the busboys check wine glasses before putting them out. We had 2 really nasty ones on our table when we sat down. It can happen but so preventable. read more

I had such a positive experience the last time I visited, which is why I decided to come back. Unfortunately, this visit was a major disappointment. It seemed like our server, Morgan, was either very new or simply inattentive. Not only were parts of our order forgotten, but for most of our dining experience she was difficult to find. Our food took an unusually long time to arrive, our water was never refilled, and when the food finally came out, items were still missing. We also asked for additional condiments that never arrived. To make matters worse, the fries were old, hard, and cold. The most frustrating part was when the bill came out and several items were incorrect. When I brought it to her attention, her response was, "My bad, I was doing things so fast I forgot to ring it up correctly." Honestly, the extra charges could have easily gone toward a generous tip, but the overall experience fell short, and the sarcasm in her response was not appreciated. read more

Decided to go try this place out for breakfast. Sat at the bar where they had lots of seating. This restaurant also has outdoor seating as well. As we sat at the bar we were greeted right away by a nice young man. We decided to have the eggs Benedict and the chicken fried steak and eggs. Both were really delicious. Came here to celebrate my birthday, party of 6 with a reservation. Parking was horrendous, definitely plan to arrive early. After checking in, we were seated immediately. Our waiter was really nice, however I felt like service could use some improvement (and I'm saying this with consideration of how busy it was, esp on a Friday night). I just felt like it took forever for things to come out. We made it in time for happy hour and every appetizer we ordered-- we all enjoyed! I had the surf and turf entree & the steak and shrimp were delicious! However, the scallop was gamey and rubbery, not to my liking. I'd like to come back again, maybe during lunch or something. Vey tasty. Enjoyes the faxt that the mix was not heavy and did not make you feel full half way through the cocktail. Being in healthcare I found it funny most of the brunch cocktails where medical/hospital themed. Bobby was our server and allowed us to enjouy the bloodys and outside ambience. No rush to order and get moving. I had avocado toast and partner had breakfast sandwich. Impressive take on the toast with pickled onions on rye bread. My only complaint was egg was slight more cooked than I would like. Over all good. Sandwich stuffed with egg, bacon, cheese, guacamole and has brown also on rye bread. Headed for the high mountains and low on calories so Yelp recommended this joint. Seated promptly in a booth and orders from The Local draft list. My bride had the tomato bisque and we split the Rueben sandwich... the former was creamy and loaded with toasted tomato flavor, and the latter had a nice toasted bread and briny meat. Stopped in with a colleague during a business trip to the area based entirely on the fact that it was close to my hotel, appeared to have some decent looking BBQ and burger choices on the menu, and I could smell the smokey goodness from the parking lot. But how could I know that experience (and the service!! OMG the service!!!) was going to be so outstanding, that I would come back again the next evening to eat again?? The first night it was happy hour, with a spicy jalapeño mule, buffalo cauliflower, smoked Brussel sprouts, and a couple of beers. But the service was so attentive (almost too attentive) that we felt like we had to watch for gaps so we could take a bite or a sip in between folks checking in to see if we needed more food, more refills, or just a friendly hello! The next night was burgers, and brews, and bloody Marys - and again, the most amazing thoughtful, interactive and attentive service I have ever seen! And being a business owner, I can tell you that it's not enough to have a beautiful setting on the river with great views and a decent menu. Having servers, managers, bartenders (hell even the bussers had smiles and were polite and friendly) absolutely seals the deal. I really have no reason to go back to to El Dorado Hills in the near future other than work, but because of this single restaurant experience, I can tell you I am trying to find more reasons to return! read more

January 7th lunch service the female waitress (long hair and very nice) was great. Attentive but not overbearing. Vs January 15 lunch service we had to wave down someone to take our order after sitting for 5-10 while staff vacuumed and cleared tables. Bartender took our order, other people delivered, one dude brought us water. Had no idea who our "server was" (maybe bartender?). Didn't feel stoked about that experience. Food: I had a chicken avocado Caesar on the 7th. Husband did chicken sando. He said the sando was ok. A little too big on the breast (maybe butterfly it and give just half?). My salad was good. Hard to judge lettuce with dressing. Dressing could have been a little less watery. Sushi roll was good/standard roll. Tried Reuben yesterday (forgot a photo). Meat isn't fatty which I appreciated. Maybe needs a tad more thousand island and sauerkraut? Just a smidge. But it got a thumbs up. read more

I visited this place two days in a row on a recent visit to EDH. The first time I sat at the bar where the service was super friendly and attentive. I was trying to watch the baseball game and they had a TV just above the bar to be able to do so. I wasn't starving so I got the cheesesteak sandwich which was super good. The bread was perfectly able to hold all the ingredients in and there was just the right amount of cheese. The next night I met some friends here and got the jambalaya pasta. It was well seasoned and a hit with everyone at the table. Other hits from that group included the blackberry margarita, the lazy river IPA, and the Barking Dog Cooler. Although I'd like to try more places while I'm here there is a high likelihood i'll be visiting again! read more

On our recent visit, the hostess greeted us with a friendly smile and promptly led us to a cozy booth. There, we were soon welcomed by Leia and what an absolute pleasure it was to be accommodated by her. She was truly delightful and her gracious hospitality enhanced our dining experience from the outset. Our meals--Honey Buffalo Shrimp Salad and Butternut Squash Ravioli--were prepared to perfection and quite delicious. It also bears noting that due to the relaxed ambiance, everyone dines with ease. In particular, we noticed that those in the bar, dining area and outdoor patio all seemed to enjoy themselves, just as we did. She was always attentive, smiling, and it was truly enjoyable interacting with her. This was a dinner with my husband, and overall we had a great experience. The only small note: if you prefer a quieter atmosphere, I would recommend asking for a table away from the bar area. We were seated near the bar, and it was quite lively -- loud music and conversations -- while we were hoping for a more intimate setting. 5 stars! Had a reservation at 5:30 and was seated on time which is always a plus. They have a very diverse menu from fish, to sushi, to steak and pasta. We started with the brussel sprouts and the pork belly skewers. Both were delicious and loved the glaze on the pork belly. For entrees we go the filet mignon pasta (a hit), the fried chicken dish, and the brandy steak. Everything was very good and the steaks were cooked perfectly, which is usually hit or miss at some places. For dessert we got crème brûlée and the apple berry crisp. Service was great. Despite it being a bit loud in the restaurant, we were able to have good conversation. This is a given though when the restaurant is full! They also have a cute patio for the warmer months! Had a great brunch at South Fork this week on Sunday - Eggs Benedict with Lobster and it was delicious! Served slightly differently than other similar dishes in the past: the hollandaise had some dill which gave it a unique flavor and the lobster was breaded. The service was outstanding as the staff checked in with us multiple times, the restaurant was very laid back and nicely decorated for the holidays! What a charming place with great food! We were driving home from a weekend trip and stopped here for lunch. It's close to the freeway and nestled in a large strip mall with many other shops and restaurants. The only issue we had were some cold French fries. This is a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful and elegant vibe and delicious food. The staff all felt very young but was also very courteous. They gave great recommendations and were extremely attentive. A well deserved 4 stars. It was a tiny dark for me but that's just me. It was located in a quaint down town area that my husband I thought would be a great area to book the hotel in and enjoy an evening here for dinner and walking and just enjoying. The ambiance from when you walk in is amazing. The light fixtures and decor are really nice. I had the South Fork 75 and it was nice. I also got the Drunken Brandy steak which is marinated flank steak, mashed potatoes, broccolini and honey glazed carrots. This was so delicious and I was really happy with my meal. The service was outstanding. For dessert I had a creme Brule and it was also delicious. I have not had a ton of experiences lately where everything was done really well and this was refreshing. read more

I'm struggling here in El Dorado Hills for good food. We are from the bay area and expect a lot. I guess I assumed an affluent area like El Dorado would have a similar food profile, and the expectations would be similar. We've been there a few times, love the atmosphere, love the service, so it's not about that. I think it's a beautiful restaurant. I think the food quality is subpar. I sent back an overcooked burger and an unflavored Thai salad the other day. I'm only being judgmental because I went to Jackson, which is not that far from here and had an incredible meal in a very small town and I wonder if these chefs are tasting competitor dishes. read more
