Dear Dave, First and…read moreforemost, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting together an absolutely incredible event for our son JP. Walking into a venue I had never been to before--and knowing how particular I can be--I'll admit I was taking a bit of a chance. But you and your team delivered nothing short of a first-class experience from start to finish. You knocked it out of the park. From the moment I dropped things off the night before, I was struck by how professional, respectful, and accommodating every single member of your staff was. Each one was a complete gentleman--not just with me, but with all of our guests. It didn't go unnoticed, and it meant a lot. My wife and I are still receiving phone calls from guests raving about everything--from the appetizers, to the Escarole, sausage and beans (which you may seriously want to consider adding to your menu!), and of course, the desserts. People can't stop talking about it. Thank you again for making the night so special for JP, and for making it all look effortless. It was an amazing experience all around, and we're truly grateful. If you ever need anything from the entertainment side please reach out I would love to help if I can. Thank you, The Abbruzzese Family

Our family originally went to a restaurant two doors down from The Standard, but we were so…read moredisappointed that we decided to leave. Since we had parked right next to The Standard, we chose to give it a try for lunch--and it was the best decision we've made in a long time. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself was just as lovely. We were a party of five, including a 14-month-old baby, and our waitress could not have been more accommodating. Another great convenience is that the hotel also has parking available in the back. I only wish I had taken photos! We started with appetizers--crispy calamari, mussels, and chicken wing lollipops. For our entrées, we ordered the French Dip sandwich, the Carnegie Reuben, and two Standard burgers. We also asked for a kids' pasta. Expecting the usual penne, we were surprised when angel-hair pasta arrived. Our little girl had never tried it before, so we requested a substitution. Although our waitress explained that angel hair was the only pasta they typically have, she returned moments later to let us know the chef was going to get penne just for us. That level of service truly stood out. The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. We enjoyed our visit so much that we are even considering hosting a family wedding and a baptism here. Highly recommend The Standard American Hotel!

We really wanted somewhere to sit outside and this was the only option. We were the only ones…read moreoutside and our service seemed kind of annoyed that he had to keep coming out to us. Unfortunately, he had a mess up where he told us something was gluten-free and when we double checked with someone else, we found out that it was not. Thankfully, the other man who was working at the bar advised us and told us that the kitchen would make the meal Gluten-free for us, which was awesome. We really liked it. Also got a wedge salad with steak which was really good. I'm so glad we clarified things because it could've been a real health issue if we didn't. I think the server needs to be l educated on the severity of allergies and to ask instead of assuming if he isn't sure. We also ordered an apple pie and asked for iced cream on the side and it came out on top. There was also so much liquid floating around in the dessert. We didn't even ask to send it back because it was already a tense interaction with him as he just seemed annoyed our entire time there. Barely ate the dessert and when I had mentioned to him that we asked for the ice cream on the side I don't think he understood and asked if I wanted a box to take it home but I just said no. I just barely ate it and took it as a $14 loss. We were going to get one more drink because we were enjoying being outside even though the service wasn't that great, but the server ended up l bringing us the check, which we hadn't asked for yet so we took it as a sign to just go. I think we just got stuck with someone who did not like his job and was unhappy he was there and unfortunately it did taint our experience. Would potentially go back if we notice someone else working outside.

I've recently been mesmerized by sister property Mezcal, and haven't been back to 618 in some time…read more Last night we were in the area and decided to swing by for a cocktail and appetizers. Very cool that Venue 618 was the only NJ restaurant to make the recent Yelp Top 100 restaurants in the US. Sitting at the bar, we were served by Zoey, Steve, and Mike. They've re-done their cocktail menu to include beautiful color illustrations. I enjoyed "One in a Melon," a well-balanced whiskey cocktail with Frank August small batch bourbon, melon, poblano pepper, Aperol, and lime. This was followed by a tasty whiskey sour. My wife ordered a Lemon Drop martini, followed by a decadent chocolate-pistachio dessert martini. All of the cocktails were well-balanced and delicious. On the food side, I munched on a baked macaroni & cheese with chorizo. It was perfect! The Death of Hospitality brand thrives on personalization and unexpected surprises. Mixologist Steve, realizing that I'm a whiskey afficionado, surprised me with a small pour of Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel bourbon. This is a difficult bottle to find in New Jersey. Rock Hill Farms was incredible, with a super long finish. Thanks for the memories 618!

The food was amazing. The filet mignon, halibut, and chicken Milanese all drew rave reviews from my guests. What made the night even more enjoyable was the outstanding service by June, Ro and Beverly. I got more compliments on the service than on the food. These ladies never stopped moving and made each guest feel like they were the only ones in the room at times. From the first minute guests entered until they were thanked by the ladies on their way out the door, these three ladies showed why they are an asset to your restaurant. If every party at 618 goes like this one, I will be hosting more celebrations there. Everything was 5 stars!

I have experience in this field and I have never posted a bad review in 20+ years, until today. This place was micromanaged to the point that it impacted the flow of the whole celebration. if you are looking to have a good time, be prepared to have security constantly complaining to the bridal party about not allowing to do something as little as walking around with a drink in their hands, standing near the bar waiting for their drinks or children in general... they aren't fans of kids at all and WILL have sec following then around watching their every move.
