Great for hosting events. South House Garden is definitely ideal for the brunch and large guest accommodation. There were literally towers of mimosas at every table. There is a decent sized bar to accommodate guest while waiting for tables service. The ambiance and decor is made for photos with the lust greenery and nature theme. There are swing set seats at the table which seems like a fun idea. The food stood on its own. I'm going to recommend the deviled eggs particularly the shrimp ones which I order to go. The salmons ones were quite tasty as well but the shrimp beat it out. The steak bites and eggs is also a solid dish. Super tender and flavorful and perfect if you have a big appetite or wish to finish later. The presentation of the food was very nice. The cocktails were average restricted to the commercial brand spirits used to mix. Overall the experience was nice and I'm ready to go back again. 4.2 out of 5 read more

Came here with a party for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Place was made for pics, so very aesthetically focused. Service was good, food came out way faster than I expected. I got the maple glazed chicken, which was essentially chicken and French toast. It was spectacular!! The French toast was quite literally the thickest I've ever had, but still cooked through and soooo good! The fried chicken was also cooked well and not dry. The hot sauce and honey worked great together and only used a tiny bit of syrup for the end of the French toast. I ordered the French Toast and the Chops 'N' Grits (creamy grits topped with three grilled lamb chops in a Cajun Creole sauce), and both dishes were absolutely mouthwatering. To top it off, we shared a tower pineapple mimosa, which was as delicious as it was impressive. I visited south house with my friend for a brunch date. The inside is your typical flower wall aesthetic however it was pretty and I loved the swings inside, very cute. We were seated at a high table and I'm assuming there was an issue with the ac unit being water dripped on me the whole time. We ended moving our seats at the same table and the water still managed to splash on me. I ordered the avocado toast and the Mac trio. I didn't realize how large the space is until I went to the bathroom, but not only is there a large bar area with lots of bar stools, there is also a number of high tops, some tables with swings that you can sit on, and a few pool tables in the back. I can see this being a nice spot to catch the game as well. Keep in mind that this restaurant is basement level, and the train tracks run RIGHT by the windows. We ended up here for their happy hour, which runs through 7p on Friday. It's a pretty good deal, which offers discounted pricing on their apps and half off the towers. We ordered the birria tacos, two types of wings, salmon egg rolls, seafood dip, and a full margarita tower (with a mango/passionfruit mix). I enjoyed all of the apps, with the exception of the BBQ wings, which tasted like fast food wings. The mix in the margarita tower was a bit too sour for me as well - I think next time, I will try sangria. I do like that they give you the option to mix multiple flavors in the tower. Aside from the food, the service was a little spotty as well. The waiters and bar staff were pretty friendly, but they weren't always available when we needed them and the food either came out piecemeal or went to the wrong table a couple of times. However, happy hour is definitely a good value and the items we had were solid both taste and temperature-wise. I would absolutely come back for HH. Beautiful decor and good service! The bathrooms need a bit more upkeep during brunch though. We visited on September 1st. A few of us indulged in bottomless mimosas. Great spot for brunch or dinner! It is literally next to the train tracks so periodically a train comes past. Tonight we had the voodoo shrimp and the cheese pizza. Both were delicious. This place is a solid hit or miss. They have a great happy hour if you get there early before it gets crowded. The deals are fantastic especially if you're headed there with a group. The food and apps have decent variety and the pizza is a bit better than any mass chain around. They really start to miss the mark when it comes to service, I've had multiple instances with their staff performing poorly. Recently I waited nearly 30 minutes for the check while the waitress was mingling with bartenders. We started with the shrimp deviled eggs and they were sooo good. The perfect amount of egg filling and seasoning. The shrimp were perfect size and not the small ones. The catfish came out pipping hot and it was lightly breaded which was perfect. The waffles tasted my perfect churros. The food was so good the French toast was hot and flavorful so many berries the sauce was so good I didn't use any syrup or anything. Please get the half drink tower of the old town I believe it's vodka and passion fruit and it is so delicious and gets the job done ! South House Happy Hour Review I decided to try South House during happy hour, and honestly, I wasn't impressed. The place is ridiculously hyped, but in my opinion, it's overrated and just average. I ordered the margarita tower, and it was the worst one I've ever had. It was way too sweet, clearly made with mostly cocktail mix and barely any tequila. If I visit again, I'll skip the margarita tower and try their sangria tower instead. For food, I stuck to appetizers. The salmon egg rolls were surprisingly good--I wouldn't have thought to put salmon in an egg roll, but I was impressed. The cheesy seafood dip was also delicious. However, the birria tacos were way too oily for my liking, so I won't be getting those again. I also ordered the garden wings with garlic Parmesan and honey BBQ sauces. The wings themselves were fried and then coated in sauce, which felt like lazy cooking. Personally, I think they'd be better with the sauce served on the side. The garlic Parmesan wings were nothing special--I've had better elsewhere. But the honey BBQ wings were nostalgic. If you loved the honey BBQ wings from KFC, you'll probably enjoy these. The sauce was very sweet, though, so be prepared for that. Service was just okay but could've been better. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet the staff wasn't very attentive. We constantly had to flag someone down, which was frustrating. The ambiance was quiet, likely because it was raining when I visited, which might have affected the vibe. Would I go back? Sure. However, the experience at the hostess stand was disappointing. We were the first customers outside before the restaurant opened, yet when it was time to be seated, a male employee told us, "We are only taking reservations, no walk-ins today." There was no signage indicating this policy, nor was there any mention of it on the website. He also didn't offer bar seating as an alternative. I only found out it was available because I overheard another employee offering it to a different customer. We ultimately sat at the bar and had a good experience, but it was frustrating to encounter that lack of clear communication. There were still many open tables inside, and in my opinion, if there are reservation no-shows after 15 minutes, walk-ins should be added to a waiting list. Also, greeters should be trained to offer all available options to customers rather than turning them away without explanation. Other than that initial interaction, everything else was lovely. There was always one or two people who had a missing order and was sitting there staring at other people eat. The food was very standard sports bar food, so it was surprising how long it took. There is an automatic 18% gratuity charge, which I would be fine with if we had an at least average level of service. I recently had brunch here. We arrived for our reservation and were seated immediately. Prior to ordering, water was placed on the table and we were provided with menus. We ordered a mimosa tower and biscuits with honey for starters. For the entree, I ordered the lobster and shrimp grits. As a shared item, we also ordered the French toast. After the entrees, we had a lemon drop shot and a shot of Azul. The mimosas were good. I think they were mango and pineapple flavored. The biscuits were delightfully crispy on the outside, but a little undercooked on the inside. The lobster and shrimp grits were good. The grits were the perfect consistency and seasoned Cajun style. The lobster was perfectly cooked, as were the shrimp. The French toast was made with brioche bread, fresh berries and a light sprinkling of powdered sugar. With a little added syrup, this breakfast item was reminiscent of dessert with the very decadent brioche bread as the focal point. The lemon drop shot was good, but the other shot was a little strong for my preference. The ambiance was nice. It was decorated with artificial florals and vines along the ceiling and columns. The bar area was nice with televisions on the back wall. The swing seating was fun, but I couldn't imagine actually eating my meal on it. The background noise was not too loud. Football games were on the screens, so excited fans let out occasional cheers for their favorite teams, but otherwise, the restaurant was conducive to conversation. In the back there was additional seating, a billiards table and a pink phone booth decorated with a similar floral motif that was displayed through the restaurant.
