What a great little find in Chehalis! This delightful little restaurant kind of snuck up on me. There is nothing fancy about the building, but the food I ordered was delicious. I decided on their South Pacific Platter in the appetizer portion of the menu. I got two chicken satay's, 2 fried prawn, 3 spring rolls and some bbq pork. I also requested a cup of egg flower soup. Everything was delicious. The pork was tender and moist, the prawns were perfectly fried and not heavy. The best surprise was the egg flower soup. I was a bit cautious, cause it didn't look like there was a lot of egg in it, and there were small vermicelli noodles in it. I have never had egg flower with noodles. But let me tell you, the flavor was sublime. Such flavorful broth! Definitely the star of my order. I look forward to trying some of their main dishes next time I find myself in Chehalis. After several years of stopping in and finding the small parking lot too crowded, I got to eat here a couple nights ago. My son ordered the Pho and I had the Mongolian beef. We also had pot stickers as appetizers. The food was very tasty. It was the best Mongolian beef I had in a long time. The service was prompt and our server seemed to care that we enjoyed our meal. The place isn't fancy to look at, but the quality of the meal and the affordable price more than makes up for it in my opinion. I see now why they are so often crowded. I have lived in centralia for 57 years and I have been going to south pacific bistro forever. I do not know how anyone can say the food is not good or has no flavor. They obviously have no taste buds. I love this place all the food I have ever ordered is amazing and so good. The food always tastes fresh and authentic unlike the big Chinese food chains or any other restaurant in Lewis County that serves combination meals that look and taste like they came out of a microwave. Odd location little restaurant sitting amongst neighborhood houses across from a school. Ordered a lunch special. Came with a horrible too sweet hot & sour soup. They obviously don't read the Yelp reviews becuz others didn't like the sweet soup. Ordered chicken lo mein with General Taos chicken & fried rice. I don't think they use true lo mein noodles. It was still good. The General Tso's chicken is suppose to be covered in a sauce. There was little sauce & the chicken was dry. It was still tasty. Bathroom was clean. Dining area is lots of windows all around. Probably wud not return. read more

Out to dinner with my husband and our 2 kids (2 teen boys) and we ended up waiting so long they ate all the snacks out of my purse including all my gum and cough drops. Too high priced, the wait was astronomically long, and to top it off, greeted by aloofness. No thanks. read more

We would recommend this establishment. It definitely is a family run place and constantly busy. They were cleaning off the tables as people came in and needed a place to sit. The four dishes we ordered were good. Pad Thai said it was to be spicy but more then imagined for us. Happy family was to have shrimp which mine had none which took a star away. Everything is amazing. The walnut shrimp was scrumptious. Tofu was amazing, seasoned well. Boba tea was way more full but I drank it down before I could snap a pic. The Singapore noodles are to die for. I've had these at a different Thai place that closed years ago and I've not been able to find them anywhere until now. They taste exactly like I remember. Went in for a late lunch. Hot and sour soup was the weirdest I've ever had. It should be called bland and sweet soup. Nothing hot or sour about it. Disgusting. Also ordered the Nine Flavor beef. Beef was deep fried into oblivion with this sickeningly sweet sauce. Best part of the meal was the fried rice, and that's not saying much. Obviously won't be back. read more

People here were nice but the best part of my dish was the plain rice. Their hot and sour soup was more on the sweet side. Yes, you saw that correctly - on the SWEET side which was definitely unexpected. I also had the Japanese Teriyaki with Beef which was also on the sweet side. The side of wing was also bland and could have used a bit of seasoning before throwing that sucker in oil. I do wish this small business success as we are big supporters of local mom and pops restaurants. Give them a try though as a lot of businesses improve over time. read more

We came here for the first time on our way to Sequim. Not a fancy place on the outside just so you know. It's a hole in the wall type of restaurant. As we walked in it was disorganized and the floor was dirty. I can tell that it was just the husband and wife running the place. I love supporting small local businesses that's why we came here but hopefully they tidy up the place. The food was ok. Typical Chinese food. The hot and sour soup was too sweet. I was dying for a hot spicy bowl of soup on a cold rainy day and I got this sugary concoction that was so sweet it made my teeth hurt. I couldn't spit it out quickly enough. Great variety and quality; the chef has worked in restaurants across SE Asia before coming to Chehalis, and has an amazing repertoire of VIetnamese, Thai, Burmese, Japanese, and Chinese dishes. The nine-flavor chicken is one of my faves, with a delicious and unique seasoning; well spiced but not "spicy" (unless you want it!). I was a little skeptical about ordering their beef Vietnamese pho soup but to my surprise, it was pretty good! I'm kind of snob when it comes to pho and I'm very particular but I'm glad I found a place closer to home to get a hot bowl of pho from! I also ordered a side of pot stickers and those were good too! I ordered through DoorDash and from the time I submitted my order to when it was delivered, it was only a 20 minute wait! This is our favorite take out place in town! They are always friendly and the food is always fresh hot and delicious. We pick this up for dinner at least a few times a month. They do have a dining room as well but we always do takeout.They run on a small staff so sometimes it may take a few extra minutes for your order but they work hard and it's always of the best quality. My personal favorite is the Kwonton Chow Ho Fon with shrimp and my husband loves the South Pacific Lo Mein. I highly recommend South Pacific Bistro! read more

Really wanted to like this place. But the food lacked flavor and unfortunately the atmosphere ended up being a big disappointment. The only good thing was the tea boba. I ordered a Vermicelli BBQ pork plate, not what I typically am used to seeing; this was more of a stir fry. I gave it a try anyways and was disappointed by the fact that the pork bland and tough. I ordered a Spring Roll with BBQ Pork, again the dish lacked flavors. Last, the atmosphere started nice. The place looks to be family owned because the workers and kids were sitting a couple tables down discussing their family trip in August (which I loved). But what I didn't like was one of the kids was walking back and forth between the tables and farting every time he passed their tables (he was doing it on purpose and everyone noticed cause he thought it was a funny thing each time he did it). The only person to tell him something was one of the other kids but none of the adults seemed to care. Very off putting when you are trying to eat and owners kid is farting 2 tables down. We stopped by here for lunch one day and overall it was pretty good. It's a small location with some booths and tables and chairs. We were seated right away during the busy lunch hour and the service in general was very prompt and attentive. The woman who took our order knew what gluten was right away and said they could make me a stir fry without soy or teriyaki sauce. It was nice that I didn't have to do a lot of explaining and she just quickly assured me they would take care of it. I ended up with a chicken and vegetable stir fry over rice. There wasn't any sauce but since the veggies and meat were all fresh it still tasted good. My friend ordered pho and said it wasn't bad. He eats there frequently and said some things are just ok and others he loves. Lunch prices are very affordable, which is especially nice considering the freshness of the ingredients and the great service. Great little spot! They use really fresh ingredients and whip up a tasty sauce. I enjoyed the chicken sizzling platter with vegetables and wine garlic sauce. All the vegetables were cooked to the perfect texture, and the sauce was delightful. Owner is unbelievably friendly. He will tell you his crazy life story if you start chatting with him! They have the best noodles! I have tried a few of the noodle dishes and love them. They have very reasonable prices and huge portions. You will definitely not walk away hungry from here. There is a ton of variety in the menu so there should be something for everyone. This is a smaller restaurant, so they count so a whole party but smaller groups would be fun. read more

I first came here a year ago, and I must admit, I was prepared to be a snob. I'm a vegetarian, and wasn't so sure I was going to be able to eat. But lo and behold, they do have a lovely section of veg dishes. So I ordered vegetarian mu shu (which I love!). And then the snob in me came out, as a bottle (yes! a bottle!) of hoisin sauce was plopped down on the table next to me. What? No way!! I was seriously ready to just choke down the meal and was going to pretend to my friends it was lovely (this was their fave spot). Um. Let me eat my words. And as much veg mu shu as I could! The vegetables were delicious and crunchy and some of the best mu shu I've ever had. And they had brown rice! This California girl could have brown rice! What?? All that and it was way too much food -- enough for lunch the next day. Fast forward to another year later, and my annual visit from southern California to the PNW. And yes, *I* suggested a visit to South Pacific Bistro. It was every bit as good as I remembered, that veg mu shu. And yes, the ubiquitous bottle of hoisin sauce was plopped down on the table after I ordered. But the vegetables again were crunchy and delicious, and again the brown rice was cooked to perfection, and again, I had leftovers for lunch! I have to admit, I am a bit of a snob, and I am used to larger dining establishments and Chinese restaurants that don't also specialize in Thai food or serve their hoisin sauces in bottles (even if they actually do use bottled sauce!). However, South Pacific Bistro definitely earns their five stars. The food is delish, the service is friendly, the prices are insanely reasonable (dare I say surprisingly so?). And most definitely, yes, I will be back here again, next year, on my annual pilgrimage north to the area. Thanks for being such a pleasant surprise!! read more

The pho as pretty good. Came in and ordered it to go, i wasn't offered any tea while i waited. There was one table of 3 people there and me. Too quite a while to get my order, that's why some tea would have been nice. The owners young son was there, sprawled out across a couple of chairs at one of the front tables, playing a very loud game boy of sorts. Was very annoying, while the two older girls argued over who was supposed to be working. I ordered this vegetable noodle soup with a side of tofu. I was hoping for a pho-like soup. However, I was not disappointed by my dish at all. The food was very affordable and delicious. I am not sure if they offer pho with vegetable broth but I will probably return to find out. I know they offer beef and chicken pho. This is the only pho restaurant I know of in Lewis County.
