The food is excellent!!! I've had the Pop Rock shrimp so delicious and perfectly cooked and you get a huge amount. I've had chicken katsu with vegan cream broth. The serving is so big that each is literally 2 meals in one. They have lunch specials now as well. They are always kind and friendly. The atmosphere is great you can sit in different places big or small depending on the size of your party. This is a great place to grab excellent food

To begin, the interior of this restaurant is very unique. The decorations on the walls make it feel like you're really in Japan, and many elements like the tables are handcrafted. They did great on that part. The service is also pretty friendly. The food, especially ramen, however, can definitely improve. First, the ingredients are cold, like they're from the fridge. The broth doesn't taste authentic, more like it's from powder. In the Kamikaze ramen, the spicy paste isn't mixed in, it's on the side, which looks great for presentation, but it should have been mixed in because it's a spicy ramen, not spicy on the side. In the poke bowl as well as ramen, they feel like they're missing something. Portions in ramen are also pretty small. I will say, the meat is tender. But that's probably the only positive I have to say regarding food. We will not be back.

I got the tuna poke. Everything tasted off. I couldn't eat it. They need to get gluten free soy sauce.

I'm happy to say this joint is actually legit! I could see this restaurant thriving in Southern California as well. In fact, very few spots in SoCal offer so many toppings on a ~$16 ramen bowl. It's the norm to pay extra for bamboo and other veggies (and sometimes even spice), which Zen auto-includes in many of their offerings. Our takeout orders were packaged efficiently. I like how it's basically like an instant bowl ramen format, where the soup is in a bowl already, and the noodles and toppings are in a separate container above the soup. So you'd just need to pour the latter into the former to enjoy. My only criticism is that the spicy tonkotsu wasn't very spicy at all. If you told me there was zero spice in it, I'd believe you. But my spice tolerance is quite high, to be fair. Still, I'd def smash another bowl given the chance.

We ordered the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, Spicy Negi Ramen (level 4 hot), an order of Gyoza, and an appetizer order of Karaage Chicken. Both of our Ramen bowls were absolutely delicious!! I'm used to eating very authentic Ramen when I lived in San Diego so this was a first for being in this area. It was a great portion size, beautiful presentation and everything tasted so good. I think the egg could've been cooked a little bit less so it would be not so well done so to speak, but it was delicious still. Also, the chicken appetizer was a good, but not as flavorful as some Karaage Chicken I have had. I probably wouldn't order that one again even though it was good, just lacked flavor and was a bit grisly. The service was outstanding. They are very kind and very attentive. The place is very clean. The bathrooms are nicely stocked and very clean as well. The lobby is beautiful and we will definitely be back!

The ramen tasted great but not impressive or memorable enough for me to drive all the way back to Federal Way. I dined in solo and actually didn't finish the ramen or even remember exactly what I ordered. I'm guessing it's the spicy negi. The broth was spicy and enjoyable but definitely didn't taste any different compared to other ramen places I've been to. I tend to eat slow to savor my food, but I felt like the staff was overattentive and frequently stopped by my table to ask if everything was okay. Gave me the vibe that they needed to keep themselves busy or I was taking up a table. Might be great for other customers but it affected my experience with dining in; I usually finish my meals at restaurants but I felt rushed so I just ended up bringing the ramen home for my son, after the second or third time of them asking me if I wanted a takeout box. I'm still giving 4 stars just because the ramen tasted better than mediocre, less than spectacular. I just have high expectations for ramen and prefer more broth/topping variety (I was raised in Cali with options i dearly miss). Plus, I do like that they added a full egg for the ramen (instead of half an egg, like other restaurants I've been to) and the chasu portions were fair. I haven't tried any other ramen places in Federal Way (if there are any), but I guess if this is one of the better options (according to Yelp), it might be worth a shot to try out?
