We ordered 2 smoothies, sunrise & acai. I loved the sunrise smoothie but our acai is not blended well so there was a good amount of blueberry pulp you can see in my smoothie. The young lady behind the counter was nice. The biggest down fall of this place is that they use Costco frozen fruit instead of fresh local produce which is what I always look for at these smoothie stands so that disappointed me! read more

I was really craving an açaí bowl the day after we got to Kona, and I'm so glad we found this spot. We ended up trying three different açaí places during our trip, and this one was hands-down the BEST. It's tucked away in a quiet little area, which made the whole experience feel extra peaceful. The person working was super kind - just really friendly and welcoming. He showed the granola they used etc. Wish I had caught his name so I could shout him out, but thanks anyway! Was yummy! About what I expected for an açaí bowl. Açaí was not overly frozen like a slushy and not too watered down like juice. I guess in comparison to other açaí bowls that I've had before it was good, but didn't stand out to me. We stopped here on our drive over to Hilo. The gal working wasn't that friendly but she did make a really good smoothie. My only complaint was I wanted to add the peanut butter to my smoothie but apparently they were out. Pretty easy to miss. In a strip mall. read more

Can I give them a 10 star?? After trying 2 other places that were both close, South Side Açaí came through!! We were welcomed instantly by the friendly gentleman that was working, he was busy helping other customers but set the expectation on time it would take to make the Açaí bowls. Brand new açaí shop! My kids are picky eaters and wouldn't eat poke with the rest of the fam next door, so I was thrilled to see this cute açaí shop. They even have a keiki açaí bowl! Had the opportunity to check this place when in Kona. I got the berry bowl and added coconut flakes to it. The Acai was a perfect, as I prefer it to be more solid than liquid. The blend of berries, granola, cacao nibs, honey, and the added shredded coconut made it perfect. One of the best Acai bowls I've had in Hawaii. An Amazing Kona Coffee Experience…read more Greenwell Farms was one of the highlights of our Big Island trip! This is a coffee farm and tour experience, so just to clarify, they do not serve food here. The experience is focused on learning about how Kona coffee is grown and processed, touring the farm, and sampling their coffees. Our tour was about an hour, and we had such an amazing time. Our guide was a woman whose name I believe was Leilani (possibly Lenny or Lee), and she was absolutely adorable -- especially walking around in her cowboy boots! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who visits. Because of a major storm in May, the farm had suffered significant damage, including losing a bridge, so we received a modified tour. Even with the changes, we learned so much about the coffee-growing and production process, and it was fascinating to see everything firsthand. Hearing about the damage they experienced also gave us an even greater appreciation for the farm and what they've been working through. The tour is outdoors and seems appropriate for a wide range of ages. We happened to have a cloudy morning, so the weather was perfect for walking around the farm without getting too hot. Parking was easy and available right on site. A little tip: Wear comfortable sneakers and make sure you have good balance. There are some areas of the farm with gentle inclines and declines, so it's not completely flat. Since the bridge was out, there was also less walking than there normally would be. And of course, the coffee sampling was such a fun part of the experience! If you're visiting the Big Island and want to learn more about authentic Kona coffee rather than just buying a bag at a store, I highly recommend putting Greenwell Farms on your itinerary. We're so glad we went. It was educational, relaxed, beautiful, and genuinely fun -- and our guide made it that much more memorable. Mahalo to the Greenwell Farms team for such a wonderful experience!

Sunblock, hat, and sunglasses as you are outside the whole time. They provide free umbrellas to borrow during the tour, but they can block views of others on the tour and can become unintentionally obnoxious and rude, and cause potential eye injury hazards. Your guides are great and share so much history on the farm, the trees and plants, the island, the coffee, and the family. Be sure to TIP generously and listen to them QUIETLY and intently. As friendly as I could possibly be, I asked for drip coffee of which there was only the dregs left in the pot, but enough to fill my cup. I was okay with that and paid, about $4.20 before tip... then found my cup (16oz) was only half full. I said thank you cheerfully and left, thinking they'll just pour the rest of that pot down the drain. The food looks good if a little expensive, but I'll never go back there. There's other places where the service can really suck but the food is ono and the price is good, like L&L. You can get a meal there for less than $10. I can deal with poor service, but poor service and high prices... nah bro.
