I have never wrote a review before in my life but this experience was so terrible that I feel like I needed to. Had my car towed there to get fixed because it wasn't running properly. Colon proceeds to call me back to say the mechanic looked at the car and said nothing was wrong with it and it was ready for pickup. So I drive an hour to come pick it up and he has to jump start the car to start it and as soon as it starts it still has the same exact idling issue that it had before and won't even drive and it still has the same check engine light code that it had before. He then just leaves without saying a word and we were left with a dead undrivable car. I understand being busy but to just straight up lie to me and say the mechanic looked at it and it's all good after I paid to have it towed to your shop is ridiculous! If I could leave less than a star review I would! Please don't ever bring your car here if you actually want a mechanic to fix it!!! read more

All I'm going to say is buyer beware. This place seems like a major hit or miss. I shopped for a car here before (granted this was quite a while ago) and one of the cars I test drove had many problems. Another one of the cars that I went to test drive had a shot battery. I ended up purchasing a car from them and right off the bat I ran into problems. I took it to their service center to fix and I was extremely displeased. I'm not lying when I say this...when I pulled out the spark plug wire it literally was glued together and peeled apart as soon as I went to check it; this was about 30 minutes after they "fixed it". On top of that, I later found out that the car was extremely overpriced, which was very upsetting. I was young and oblivious when I purchased the vehicle and I feel like they definitely took advantage of that. I will say one good thing about them, they were very easy going when it came to letting me test drive. Aside from that, the overall experience was poor & once there was a problem with the vehicle, they were not helpful. I also want to note that I left a negative review on their Facebook a while back and they deleted it. I was also contacted by a random person, who saw my review prior to them taking it down, and they informed me that they were attempting to sue them for selling them a lemon. I never followed through and helped them but perhaps I should have. It's your choice to shop here...and perhaps they're better now (I'm not sure). I personally am avoiding them. read more

I LOVE THE JEEP LIBERTY I BOUGHT HERE!!! ...It might be my most favorite car yet! Dominic was very patient and easy going with me--never pushy or any of those stereotypical characteristics one might expect from a "used car salesman". The Jeep I bought was exactly what he claimed it to be--nothing more, nothing less. Once I decided this was to be my "new" car--Dominic helped me to attain financing, and Southside Auto gave me a great price for my trade-in! From decision to acquisition took less than 3 days--and most of that was playing phone tag with the loan provider! Best car buying experience EVER. I had been in touch with Dominic over the course of about 2 months. (Like many others, was waiting on my tax return) He always returned calls same day, next business day at the latest. On 2/11/16, when I was ready to make my purchase, my wife insisted that we check out a few other dealerships beforehand. We did so, and showed up at about 11am Thursday morning. My wife found a Ford Explorer she was interested in, I had my eye on a Kia Amanti. We test drove the Explorer first, and she fell in love. Upon returning to the dealership, I told Mr. Zino that if the price was right, I didn't need to to even test drive the Kia. He asked what we could afford after TT&L and agreed on the amount... Discounting the vehicle to fit our budget. He knew my wife had to be to work and we drove off in our new SUV less than an hour later. Since the truck had presumably been sitting in the cold, the battery needed to be jumped. After driving to Greenfield, the car would not start. Got a jump, called Dominic, and 45 mins later, I drove off with a brand new battery...free of charge. I cannot recommend Dominic or SouthSide Auto Mart enough. Stand up guys! read more

Purchased a van back in November , engine blew 3 months later yes there was oil in the engine . . Horn does not work no spare tire had to get heat taken care of . Bad belts and hoses AC compressor was shot .Contacted BBB so we'll see where it takes us . read more

Ah, South Side Automart, where I bought my first car! It was a while ago, but I remember I got a pretty decent car for less than comparable cars at other dealerships. They were helpful through the entire process of buying your first car - from helping with insurance, to getting all registered with the DMV, and getting my plates. If you're in the market for an old used car, I would definitely check this place out - it was much better than many of the car dealerships on 27th Street. read more

These people are crooks. Horrible service! They sold my wife a crappy car! Less than a week after we got it home, it was having problems. Took it to them to have it fixed. They fixed it alright! But caused another problem (I'm 99% sure they did it on purpose). They wanted me to pay to have a problem they caused to be fixed. Of course I declined. Taking them to small claims pretty soon. I should have paid attention to the 5 complaints on BBB. Now six because of mine. Oh-yea, the only reason this business has 3.75 stars is because the owners log on with different email accounts and give false reviews. If you check the grammar (lack of) and punctuation (again, lack of), they are the same. Also, I'm a pre-law major... So if anybody wants help with their case or would like somebody to guide them, just let me know. They messed with the wrong person! read more

keep reading...the substandard ratings seem to be hidden at the bottom. deceit-falsified information - not 1 car owner-as listed. not fully inspected--blown engine--transmission leaks--sat for 3 weeks--they did nothing! had 4 tows in a month. the city is taking their "business". i hope these workers-try to find a "real job" and have to abide by ethics and standards. good luck! read more

Very impressed with this local family-owned business. The service was exceptional and they were out to help you. The sales people are not pushy which is a huge plus. They had a wide selection of cars and helped me find the best fit. I would definitely recommend South Side to my friends. I will definitely be going back for another car when my son turns 16! read more

Where is the sixth star at? These guys have taken care of me and my family for a long time. I have never bought a car from them so i cant comment on that, but as far as repairs they are always quick, honest, reasonably priced. They work with us to make payments on repairs when we dont have the full amount. My dad has gone here for over 40 years and i wont take my car anywhere else! read more

On March 3rd 2014, I contacted Dominic at Southside Auto Mart regarding a vehicle that I seen online. I went in the same day to do a test drive. I drove it around the corner and notice that the brakes were not in drivable condition. Dominic assured me that it would be fixed immediately. I put a deposit of $900 down. On March 10th approximately 4pm I came into the office with the remaining balance $3060.82. I drove off the lot and less than 2 hours later the engine light came on, I immediately called Dominic and explain that the engine light was on, he told me to bring it in the next day. On 3-11-14 I return to South Side Auto, the mechanics took a brief look at the car, and Dominic explained the engine light is off now and that the car was sitting in the lot for over a month and just need to be driven. After leaving the car lot on the 11th the engine light came on again within an hour. I called Dominic back to explain the engine light is on again. He told me to bring it back later in the week. On March 17th I brought the car back, but he said that they would not be able to look at the car and to bring it back when they were not busy. The same day I took the vehicle to two different Auto Zones to get a free evaluation concerning the engine light. Both Auto Zone's diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the car have a faulty Idle Air Control Valve & the Air Flow Meter/Mass Air Sensor. The next day on the 18th the vehicle starting making a loud noise, I called Dominic and explained to him that the engine light is still on and the car is making a really loud noise. He told me to bring it in; I brought the vehicle in on 3-20. On 3-20 Dominic explained that the engine light was off and that if I have any more issues with the engine light, I would be responsible for the cost and that the exhaust was welded. When I drove the car off the lot the loud noise was reduced but not gone and within an hour the engine light was on again. This morning on 3-21-14 I contacted Dominic and explained that I have been very patient with this situation but is becoming frustrated, he in return became annoyed and said the only thing he can do is offer me an in-house warranty and that I will be responsible for paying half of the cost of the repairs. I explain that I didn't think that was fair because the repairs needed were preexisting. read more

I am looking around at various dealerships to see what kind of car I want and decide to go check out a Mini Cooper at South Side. My friend and I walk in to the small office where no one is to be seen, but upon further searching we find a man whom seems to be the owner at a desk behind a wall if tires. I say we are interested in the car, to which he asks "what?", making me repeat myself three times before asking me how I was going to pay for it. Now, keep in mind I only said I was interested. I told him it would be cash, to which he responded "show me the cash". Now, when looking for a car I don't carry around the money to purchase it, especially when it's $9000. He then proceeded to say "there will be no joyriding today boys". First of all, I'm 25 years old, and you don't treat customers like that. I left and bought an $11000 car, a sale he missed out on. I contacted Mark about a V6 Camry I was interested in since I was out of state. I asked him what was wrong with the car.. I wasn't told about the broken inside door handle, broken antenna, torn head liner, rear seats not attached, putrid smell like it sat for years, sun roof caulked in place.. Or the seat stitching completely separated which he told me about the day before I flew out after I had paid $1100 down and had a plane ticket in hand. I was also told if I had a mechanical issue on the way home, South side auto mart would pay for half of the repair. I bought the car because a return plane ticket would have cost a fortune and the car did seem to run OK. 50 miles out of town the car started to run rough shaking and shuddering. Most of the 350 mile trip home I was wondering if it would make it in one piece. I brought the car to my mechanic who installed new plugs and wires for $420. I called south side back with the bill in hand and was told plugs and wires were typical maintenance and they wouldn't pay for half of the repair after I was told they would. BLATANT LIE ! I ended up paying OVER clean retail for a car which would need another $2000 in parts and labor to be so. I should have paid attention to the five BBB unresolved complaints.. Soon to be six. Don't walk away.. RUN! read more
