I had a quote for work on my Subaru that came in at over $1400 from the dealer; MJ did the work for 900 and did it well. We have had them maintain my wife's 99 Explorer and my 02 Subaru for many years (Until the Explorer rusted out (at 1778,000 miles) and the Subaru got totaled in an accident (at 169,000 miles). Mike & Jimmy were always honest with us about what the vehicles needed, their prices were fair, and they kept the vehicles running in top shape for a good long time. When the Explorer was rusting out, Jimmy called me and told me that before he started doing the big scheduled maintenance I'd brought it in for, he wanted to let me know what else the truck would need. After hearing the list of what was wrong, I asked him what would need to be done to keep the truck running safely while we looked for a new car - he saved us a BUNCH that way, and he kept my wife safe (All he did was to fix the serpentine belt (that was ready to go) and a nearly rusted out brake line). One time I had to have my Subaru's front axles replaced. When I got it back, there was a vibration in the front end. They took the car back in and replaced them again - no charge. But it still vibrated. They took it in again and tried a different brand of replacement axles - and THAT solved the problem - they had been given bad parts by their vendor. BUT... they fixed the problem - at no charge - because these guys stand by their work. Now that I'm looking for a replacement car, and looking at used cars, I brought the cars I was looking at to them to have them checked out - they've kept me from making one bad mistake, they are helping me get out of another one (I DIDN'T have them check one out until after I'd bought it - and their repair quote is helping me invoke the Lemon Aid Law and return the junker) and the third vehicle they looked at, they found four things I'd missed... and the dealer is fixing them before I buy it. Sure, it cost me a few bucks to have them check it over... but it was worth it, and I wish I'd taken the second car to them first, too. My "new" car will be being maintained here at MJ, too - when you've found a great local shop, you stick with it. These guys are honest, competent mechanics and they do damned good work. If your mechanic doesn't seem to be able to get it right, or you're tired of paying dealer rates - give MJ a try. You will NOT be sorry.

I went to buy a vehicle from them, they assured me everything was in good condition and the car was ready to be sold, I drove two and half hours with my mother. When we got there the car looked okay visually and ran okay, if you weren't mechanically inclined then you'd never know you're being sold a piece of junk. They fix and clean the cars just enough to run well and look okay to secure the sale. Car had a cracked exhaust just behind the muffler that was barely hanging on, the ac didn't work and the compressor was completely broken and seized, the belt was sliding right over the seized pulley. The front headlight was out. The central exhaust gasket just after the cat was not even a proper gasket used on an exhaust system, still not sure what the gasket thing they used was but it was not meant for an exhaust. Air filter into the engine looked like it was 6-7 years old and there was an interior panel missing that covered the fuse box. And to put the cherry on top, there was an absolutely catastrophic oil leak, the entire bottom of the engine was dripping in oil. They assured me everything worked well and there were no leaks and no issues at all with the car just for me to drive and see a complete piece of junk that at best needed $5k of work. I need to state that I'd used this shop off and on for minor service on a Japanese luxury car which was 15 years old. My opinion soured b/c I asked them for a control arm replacement price estimate, and went to a Lexus shop a few months later and they claimed the work done was inferior-using glue on points of mounting (rather than Lexus bushings or OEM compliant parts). When I thought to give them another chance on a minor issue a year or so later, the guy who wrote up the last service goes "oh you asked us for repairs and then you went elsewhere", chiding me! I replied "I have the right to get estimates" (I didn't tell him their work was inferior on the prior job they'd done). He just walked off, and I told myself never to go there again. IF you do go there, make sure you insist on original equipment mf. parts (brake pads, all the bits)..but of course I'd recommend not going.
