Ugh Southbound I try so hard with you. Most recent visit only two servers working the bar area and main floor. It was busy on a Sunday evening and they tried their best. Chip seemed stale and not salted. No Sunday drink specials. I had taquitos as my entrée they were OK nothing special. Maybe I'll try again when it's good weather for the patio.

We discovered this speakeasy in Southbound and we are OBSESSED! We went about two weeks ago and I am excited to go back. The bartenders are very friendly and they can make anything you want with their delicious appetizers available to order that compliment the drinks really well. The Halloween decorations are on point and I am incredibly impressed.

Overall, the tacos were small and the corn tortillas were very disappointing. I wish they were flash fried so that they weren't so brittle. Unfortunately, the tortillas broke apart and lacked the texture and flavor I was hoping for. Jerk Pork Taco (4/5): Nice blend of flavors. The jerk spices paired nicely with the acidity from the pineapple salsa and the sweetness of the plantains. Shrimp Taco (4/5): The shrimp was juicy and the aioli was nice (but not spicy). Brisket Barbacoa Taco (3/5): Tasted like a standard barbacoa taco. Pretty one dimensional. *Service was VERY slow on the Sunday afternoon when I went. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

I found easy parking as they have a parking lot attached to the restaurant, so that was a major plus. I walked in and stood at the door for about 5 to 8 minutes as two waiters walked frantically back-and-forth so they were clearly short staffed, so I set myself. within a minute or two a guy came over and apologized for not being able to see me and got me a menu. I decided to go with the tortillas and salsa for my appetizer and the Bulgogi bowl as my entree. The tortillas were not warm but tasty and my bowl came out about 5minutes later. The bowl was DELICIOUS, I even googled how to make it a home. Southbound struggled with timely customer Service today but my food was great and the waiter I had was very apologetic, I'll def be back!

I don't understand the low reviews. We had a good experience both with our food and the staff. We stopped in for lunch. It was not busy but it looked like a cool place to hang out. Great outdoor patio and a cool covered patio section. Cool vibes throughout. This is a SoCal inspired restaurant. I had the Brisket Barbacoa Burrito traditional style (fries and all). It took me right back to a typical burrito stand in Southern California. It was very good with $4 beer specials. Definitely worth a try.

First time visit and I have zero complaints! The vibe is inviting and like a little Caribbean getaway. The strawberry basil lavender mules are delicious!! I had a the curry shrimp dinner and it was full of flavors and you could taste the freshness of the shrimp. The goat empanadas were shockingly amazing. I didn't think I would enjoy those. Make sure you get the trio dip which comes with salsa, guacamole (it's spicy!) and queso. Ask for Rachel!! She's the best!!

Tried SouthBound today for the first time for CLT Taco Week! Can't beat $4 tacos. Tacos were delicious! I think they can do without the lettuce and tomato on the side, unnecessary and doesn't go with the flavors of the tacos. Inside is so cute. Feels more casual but not too casual, the perfect ambiance. Love the outdoor area. We will be coming back for brunch on a sunny day for build your own Bloody Mary bar and bottomless mimosas! Margarita was really yummy, and it is hard to find a good marg in charlotte... Queso was good! Tasted like they thicken it with flour, so if you have a gluten allergy be sure to ask (I did not ask). The corn tortillas are really good, not flimsy or soggy or crumbly.

Taco Tuesday at South Bound!!! This is my second time visiting South Bound, and once again, it did not disappoint. We came specifically for Taco Tuesday, and the prices were incredibly affordable, especially considering the quality of the food. Phat Gurl Highlights! Street Corn : The street corn was tasty and flavorful...perfectly balancing sweet and savory notes. It was just so much yummy goodness! Nachos: The nachos were not only packed with flavor, but the toppings were thoughtfully layered. There's nothing worse than ordering nachos only to eat all the toppings off the chips, leaving just plain chips behind. Here, the meat-to-nacho ratio was excellent! Tacos: The tacos were outstanding. I'm a fan of authentic street tacos from certain food trucks in the area, and South Bound's tacos definitely passed the vibe check! The Carne Asada taco was a delightful surprise--so delicious that it sneaked up on me like a thief in the night. My boyfriend ordered two extra tacos because I always want "just a bite," proving he knows me well. He chose this spot because it's one of his favorites, and he wasn't wrong. Service: Our experience was further enhanced by the excellent service. Trevor was very attentive and had a great personality, making our visit all the more enjoyable. It was an all-around great experience!

Came here with coworkers for a late lunch. Parking was easy to find in the large lot next to the building. We had a big group and were sat down quickly. Service was great and we got our food within 5-10 minutes. I ordered two tacos and a side: brisket barbacoa, carnitas, and a side of fried plantains. The carnitas were juicy and flavored well with the cream sauce to contrast the savory flavor of the meat. The fried plantains were great and exactly what I was craving. I was really hungry and felt full with this portion of tacos, plantains, and chips and guacamole. I will definitely be back!

We sat at the bar and there was a musician singing and playing guitar on the patio. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming! We got some yummy margaritas and our bartender created a coconut marg on the rocks from scratch (off the menu ). He made us two different ones to try, one that was more sweeter, and one with more sourness! They were both delicious! The food was phenomenal and they have a lot of Gluten Free options. They were all great portion sizes and the flavor was great. The tacos were great heated up the next day (which you don't find to be true often)! Super great place, free parking, great food, yummy drink specials, and tons of space!

Came here for Cinco De Mayo. I expected it to be busy and crowded but the service was very slow because they had very few wait staff! A few tables sat open I assume because they didn't have enough servers. There was not enough staff to clear tables Or clean up. Water spilled on the floor and no one cleaned it up, just put a wet floor sign out while people stepped around it. The drinks were good though. We had chips and salsa, guacamole and queso. All very good and made fresh. I had the 3 tacos and a side. My selection was a chicken taco that was just ok I would not have it again, a jerk pork that I didn't like it came with cut up plantains with a mango salsa just horrible. My absolute favorite was the fried red snapper taco, it was delicious and if I come back it will be for that. The place is definitely spacious, lots of room. You don't feel like you are on top of each other. There is an outdoor space. They are dog friendly. I'll be back to give them another time but maybe at another non busy time and will sit out door. Also with the handheld POS machine the tip for a larger party is a little confusing I requested a receipt and our waiter said he couldn't find it or print it even though I hit the print button. My suggestion is to get more staff because I am on the fence with if I'll come back.

Why did y'all stop "Taco Tuesday?" I loved coming there for the special.

I opted for a California burrito with asada, this hit the spot. Not only was the burrito well wrapped but it was very savory and filled to where it left me full. The place is a counter service restaurant with a bar as well so you can go and order your food first then order your beer/cocktails of choice. They also have a salsa bar but chips are extra. The restaurant is slightly noisy and can probably fill fast during peak hours. Overall I would come back, definitely highlight to my Charlotte trip!

I was in the mood to try and possibly find a new gem in the city and saw this place. The pics…read morelooked good and the reviews seemed to be good as well. This place gets one star from me. The food was extremely mediocre in taste and portions. I ordered the two-taco combo plate that comes with two sides. I chose Mexican Rice & Refried Beans as my side and the tacos I chose were Birria. Let's start there. There is no option to order anything other but the same two tacos so for example, I wanted to order one chicken and one birria or one shrimp taco and one birria taco, that option was not available. Most places allow you to customize your taco orders. I arrived to pick up my food and noticed the bag was NOTICEABLY light...which is a stark contrast to when I order this same kind of meal from my regular go to taco spots. I get home and start taking the food out of the bag and the taco presentation was good. They looked good and had pretty much what you would expect to be on them. I then go to open the containers that had my sides and noticed that the containers barely had any sides in them. I'm talking about the containers were less than half full of the rice and beans...to where it looks like they only put a couple of spoonfuls in each container. Which explains why the bag was so light. The rice looked like the typical Mexican rice and smelled about the same. It tasted very average, nothing special. The refried beans however, had no texture to them and looked like someone just put all the beans into a blender and turned them into a thick paste of some sort. They were completely flavorless and also didn't have the layer of cheese on top on them that most authentic places put on there. The three tacos were also very flavorless. The meats had absolutely NO flavor to them which is crazy for a birria taco. They were full enough with meat, salsa, onions, etc. but the meat had very little seasoning. I also found two VERY hard and sharp pieces of BONE in one of my birria tacos. I have braces and thought one of my back brackets had come loose. Imagine my surprise when I spit everything out and saw a decent chuck of bone shard. I set i aside and took another bit of ended up with yet another piece, albeit smaller, of shard in my mouth. As someone who moved here from Los Angeles and prior to that lived in Texas, this place just doesn't cut it for tacos. Not even for a chain restaurant quality of tacos. It's just like so many of these trendy restaurants popping up all over Charlotte with mediocre food trying to make a quick buck before it's eventually shut down for whatever reason . I'll be sticking to my two go to places which are very authentic taco spots where I have NEVER been disappointed. They are little pricier, but quantity and quality are worth it at this point. I have attached pics and you can see the pathetic amount of rice and beans that they gave me in that entire container, smh. You can see it from the top view and the side view where you can see the shadow lines of how full the containers were. For comparison, the container was about the size of a medium Mac N Cheese from Chick-fil-A. Rice and beans are literally the CHEAPEST items to acquire and add to meals so being stingy with them is a really bad look.

My beef taco was just a little tough, but it was still full of flavor and very enjoyable. The ordering process is simple. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.

Que Fresca is a fast and fun experience. They have 2 counters - one for food and one for drinks…read more You walk up to the counter and order. We got two Burrito Fresas (one grilled chicken and one chicken tinga). The burritos had the COOLEST crunchy cheese coating on the tortilla that the hugs all of the ingredients inside the burrito. Both the grilled chicken and the chicken tinga were phenomenal. We truly could not decide who the "winner" was because they were both so flavorful. Now, to talk about the other fun part!!! SORBET MARGARITAS! I'm obsessed. I had initially seen Que Fresca on social media, specifically for the soft serve margs. And let me tell you - they did nit disappoint. They have two flavors - strawberry and lemon (and then you can do a swirl). They were SO refreshing and delightful!! It was such a fun way to ~eat~ a margarita! All of the staff were friendly and very quick. The restaurant is well laid out and I love that it had TVs to watch all the games. The bathrooms are fun too - as the mirrors have color changing lights! I cannot wait to come back and try more!

The cheese was more burnt so the wrap had that unique flavor you get with well cooked cheese (make a grilled cheese. burn some of the excess cheese off dripping off the side , then eat it and you'll know what I mean). Before the server brought it out I could seem a couple of employees picking at one half of the burrito - which had me concerned. I assume it had some aluminum foil pieces from where the burrito was sliced in half. Sincerely hoping that was all it was. The employees seemed to be just standing around not talking to one another while there were tables that needed to be cleaned for new guests.
