After going back and fourth of deciding what to order, I decided to go with my favorite, which is the sizzling fajita on a stone; that came with rice,beans,lettuce and guacamole. In all honesty I feel like this experience could have been better but Im going to speak from the experience I had. The food was decent, I enjoyed what I ordered but i'm not sure my family did. As far as service, our server was new and nervous which I give him grace for but it wasn't packed out and it felt like we were waiting on a lot of stuff we asked for. One of my colleagues and I got together here for lunch. They didn't have a long wait for a table and came out to take drink orders very quickly. The frozen blackberry margarita was strong enough, but was already watery/loose when it was brought to the table. I ordered the combination plate with a shredded chicken taco/ground beef enchilada. My enchilada had shredded beef in it. When she took my plate with my half eaten food to the kitchen, instead of a fresh plate she brought the same half eaten plate back out and then said they would bring me a ground beef enchilada. I personally don't eat food that has gone back and forth to the kitchen, so I was not going to eat it. When I asked for a bottle of Valentina hot sauce, the bottle had so much crust around the edges I had to request a new bottle from a different server. They are a smidgen Doughy at the corners, but otherwise, delicious! 9/10 Now let's get into this Ramen Birria. I am completely ADDICTED! I am not a soup girly. I definitely never eat Ramen, but this dish is top tier! You get plenty of beef birria in the soup. I literally drink the broth from my huge soup spoon. It is 10/10! My boyfriend had the ACP (Arroz Con Pollo) it came with steak as well. He gives it an 8.5 out of 10. He says he wished the Bell Peppers were smaller. I tasted it and I give it a solid 9/10. The Aesthetic: This was prettier than expected! From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the inside has beautiful glass blown lighting, cute decor, and a very unique flowered hallway into the kitchen and bathrooms. 100 for the decor. The Price: They have a decent, average price point in comparison to other Mexican restaurants in CLT, but I wouldn't call it affordable for University area. The Parking: There is plentiful parking, I was able to get a pretty close front spot on a Friday night. My Order: I love the Bloody Maria and Paloma, those are a great way to start off the meal. I've only tried the Chile Verde pork. The pork was very flavorful and tender, and the sides were okay. I may consider this more of a drinking spot than a foodie spot, but I'll give it more chances because I like the vibe. This place is going to POISON their customers and THEY DO NOT CARE. Ceviche is a dish where typically the seafood is cooked by the acids in the dish, but this did not apply to the shrimp they served. They gave my daughter the dish and the shrimp were still white and gray, not even slightly cooked. And to top it off, the attitude of the manager/server was terrible. Manager didn't even come to our table to address the issue. They said they would take it off our bill but we would have to pay next time. She didn't eat any of the dish at all and if she did, she would've gotten food poisoning. And to top it off, we waited for an hour for our food and the last dish, which was the raw dish, came about 15 minutes after everyone else was served. Very confrontational and couldn't even make a vodka sprite without screwing it up. Literally forgot the sprite in the vodka sprite and had to be told multiple times to fix it and they didn't understand what to fix. They also had no idea what disaronno was and it was on their menu. I asked for the nachos panchos and wanted it with onions and cilantro instead of pico de gallo and I wasn't expecting them to pull out the tomatoes out of the pico but rather add onions and cilantro. They said that would be 2 dollars extra for adding the two of the three ingredients that are already in the pico. I didn't order anything and then the rest of my party ordered and I planned to eat at ikea but was gonna enjoy dinner with my friends and make the most of it. Then this lady breaks out her microphone and starts screaming off key and it goes on for a full hour until we finally leave. Sin Sabor! Is what I would rename this restaurant. It is some of the worst Mexican food I've had in years! This wasn't even near mediocre. I just read a few reviews post dining and I should have done so prior to my visit. It sure would have save a lot of grief. First, I agree with one poster who stated that the salsa was just tomato puree. That about sums it up. We asked if they had a spicier salsa and they did.... but they wanted to charge extra. In fact, there were up charge fees for many items. The price point here compared to other Mexican places in the area were at least $2.00 per plate more than other local restaurant's. Carnitas portions were small. I had a select two combo. Plate was hot BUT my enchilada was so cold, the cheese was not melted inside (still chunky shreds). The chili relleno was not bad.... but not great either.... but hey, at least the cheese WAS melted. The decor inside was cute and filled with picture spots but that certainly does not make up for the dining experience. House margarita was not good but, they do make a decent Sangria. It was full of fruit and mostly ice which probably translated to about a 4oz pour. Also, be on NOTICE, in addition to the menu price, they charge a surcharge on ALL orders regardless of table size AND regardless of how you are paying ( it's not exclusive to credit cards) so it's a supplemental wage charge. This practice is NOT on the menu but as it is posted at the front door we knew what we were getting into and that does follow the law. HOWEVER, when we asked what the percentage of the surcharge was, the waitress said, (paraphrasing) I don't know .... it's not that much, " like 3%." In fact it was 3.5% on the total bill including tax. I'm guessing the surcharge is to help supplement the income of the staff ( if indeed it does get distributed to them). I rarely leave a restaurant without leaving a 20-25% tip but felt compelled to leave only 18% with the extra fee making up for other 2%. But here too.... service wasn't that great either it really wasn't 20% worthy. SAD! read more

So when one of my favorite local sandwich places closed and this took its place, I was a bit disappointed to lose one restaurant, but super happy that a really good Mexican restaurant took its place. The service was good and so was the food. The salsa served with the chips was very good, a touch spicy but not too spicy, just right in my opinion, and the queso dip was great too, and the portion size is also good. I had the cheese steak burrito, my wife had the arroz con Pollo, both were good and served with plenty of cheese sauce.
