Amazing overall, BUT one big problem. Ok, real deal, probably the absolute best Pork BBQ I've had anywhere. Just mind-blowingly good. So good, it truly doesn't need Sauce. That's saying something. Then, even better, the sauces are all outstanding: really unique. I've eaten there 4 times in the last 3 weeks. One big issue though. Tried the 1/2 Chicken. Smoky (obviously) but zero flavor and while dark meat parts were fairly moist (higher fat content) the white meat was bone dry and tough as shoe leather. Try a different approach so you can offer a chicken dish as awesome as everything else. If nothing else, brine it first for 12 hours and then just roast it. Brines are cheap & simple. Want to kick the brine up? Add Fennel Seeds. Other than that, this place remains my new fave in downtown Bristol. read more

This is our first time here, and let me tell you, it is great. The portion sizes weren't absolutely massive, which is great. I ordered the smoke sausage, and got a side of tater tots and Mac and cheese. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. We were pleasantly surprised to try East Coast (ish) BBQ, so we chose a hip, newer joint to try. The sides were delicious! Between all of us, we tried fried okra, mac&cheese, fried green tomatoes, red skin potato salad, and tater tots and not a single side was left on the table! However...the meat was dry and the sauce was disgusting! The brisket on the sliders requires a lot of sauce they were so dry! After trying the house BBQ sauce...we would have rather eaten the dry meat! The sauce tasted like straight vinegar and sugar. I was going to give 1 star, but for the great sides and ok smoke sausage, I'll give 2. If you're from the Midwest or Central South...do NOT come here! Man! What a missed opportunity! Great menu / pathetic execution. Undercooked sweet potatoes, obscenely vinegary/inedible collard greens, mediocre fried green tomatoes. I so wanted to love this meal but was left sorely disappointed. Worse was when when meal came wrong and the server slammed the correct item so hard we left all wearing a little "splash" of grits. I'm going to begin this by saying that I visited Southern Craft on a SUNDAY evening during Covid so my experience was FANTASTIC and I can't say enough good things about the Food, the Service, the ambiance and the overall experience. We arrived to celebrate my dates birthday around 6pm and were immediately seated in a large booth that allowed plenty of room for everything that was about to be brought out. Our server John E. was a little busy but stopped by our table almost immediately to get drink orders and allow us to peruse the menu. With so many choices it took us a few minutes but eventually we settled on an appetizer and dinner. John got our order and it felt like no time at all our appetizer arrived, I was shocked at how awesome they presented a plate of tater tots with cheese sauce but OH GOSH were they GOOOOOD. MMMMM. Dinner arrived perfectly timed after we polished off the apps and please, just look at the pictures to see what we saw. And the food tasted even better than it looked. I spent most of the meal taking pictures and sharing with family and friends how great the experience was and if i'm ever back in Bristol you can be sure that I will go out of my way to stop here for my dinner. read more

We stopped for dinner on our way to Knoxville and were not disappointed. The pulled pork, chicken & chicken wings were all excellent, but the stars of the meal were the sides. Went there the Friday before Memorial Day. Food is pretty good, bill came and we paid with our card and gave the server a cash tip, 25%. On the receipt I drew a line through the tip section. The server decides to add 20 bucks to her tip. I called the manager on Memorial Day, guy is apologetic, but has still not reimbursed me the 20 bucks. Pretty lame response. read more

Hotel, restaurant, brewery! What a great plan! This place has it all. Besides Bristol being an amazing place to live, work and play it is also a great place to visit. I did not stay in the hotel but heard the rooms really nice by gentlemen vacationing here. The food, Which we ordered to take home, was delicious. We got the three meat selection and I must say the brisket was the most tender brisket I have ever had. They gave us a slightly vinegary sweet sauce for the brisket. We wanted the Carolina gold to go with the pork ribs and burnt ends. The pork belly collard greens were excellent as was the sweet potato soufflé. Although my brother lives here he had never stopped in for food. Their Carolina gold sauce was a little spicy for my taste. But then again, I can't eat buffalo wings hot anymore, LOL. I have to say that if I was traveling this would be the place to stop at because You can visit a couple other bars but you can spend the night here and finish your evening with a great meal. Our experience today was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had in years. When we arrived, the service seemed fine. When we ordered, we got our food within 10 minutes. Normally, this would be an awesome situation but was my husband had ordered a full rack of ribs, we were concerned. As we suspected, the ribs were extremely tough. When he told the waitress, she did our to change his meal and he opted for the burnt ends. When they came out (again, in an extremely short amount of time), the dish that was placed in front of him resembled shredded pork. Out did not look at all like burnt ends. This was our second trip to SCB and we couldn't have had two more different experiences. First time superb, this time was horrible. read more

Wonderful food. The brisket is exceptional. We also had the pulled pork which was excellent. The home fries a little dry (except the ones with pork juice on them. They were great.) Ambiance very nice except one thing, which is why only 4 stars: it was cold in there. I actually thought about getting my travel blanket outta the car. It wasn't a hot day, so no need to run the a/c so aggressively. Server acted surprised when I complained. On the way out we passed another customer putting on her sweatshirt; said she was "freezing." This place was a gem to find! I'm genuinely so confused on the low Yelp ratings it has so far (very few reviews at least- can't ever please them all) as on google it's 4.5 stars. I give 5. (TLDR at bottom). The context: We were driving from California to Maryland on the southern I-40 route and had stopped in a couple places for BBQ along the way (what's a road trip without planning it around food?). I'm SO glad we stopped here! This is the best BBQ I've had outside of Memphis! We almost stopped somewhere else but decided to come here cause of its cute outdoor seating. And since this is Covid time- we were watchful of how they were treating it and were pleasantly surprised by them spacing out the parties generously. The patio is super cute and we started out there- but the wind took us inside (they had told us to totally let them know if we wanted to move and were very accommodating, a check in my book). Once inside I could tell this place was probably popular during non pandemic times! It's a really cool interior that looks like a brew house and smoke house birthed a restaurant. Huge wood and steel accents, big walls separated booths/ dining areas which gave a more private feel. Two top booths. Very cool. The food: man what can I say, the food was so good. As a party of two we knew we wanted some left overs so we went with the three meat BBQ combo (called the Tennessee Trio I think?) and you can choose your meats and 3 sides. We got the bbq chicken, the smoked salmon and the burnt ends. WOW guys when I say YUM??? I mean it. The burnt ends are enough to write home about alone being so tender and juicy, but the salmon?? Omg a must try; so moist and Smokey but not over done. The chicken was the one in third place but it was also really good (I shredded the left overs for a salad once home and wow). They have a large and really good sounding side options, so we asked the waiter for his 3 favorites and just went with those. They were the red skin potato salad, the greens and the grits. Guys. Seriously the effing grits!!!! Enough to make me drive all the way back there. All 3 were amazing- I'm not even the biggest fan of potato salad and that one was so good I was shocked (like what else am I missing??). The greens were so full of flavor. But the grits, I ordered an extra side to go. I also ordered a side of the sweet potato soufflé cause a) are you kidding that sounds great and b) if everything else was this good this has to be too. I was not wrong, not let down. It was so good I may or may not have shed a tear. For dessert we shared a peach cobbler, and the first bite was so sweet for me I almost couldn't make it (I forget how big of a sweet tooth the south has). Second, third, etc bites were great though. The service: I'm sad I can't remember our servers name, Darnell maybe? Darn. But he was so nice and accommodating. He walked me through the seasonal beers they had and gave me a sample. Turns out the drinks are seriously amazing too. I had a black cherry beer that was tangy and refreshing with the perfect amount of fruity sweetness. Just a tad more on the beer side than a cider. Anyway that's not service talk is it? I believe either the GM or MOD came by checking on tables and she was a sweetheart too. All in all very professional but kind hearted staff. Not checking in too often in an obnoxious way but not ignoring us either, another check. I wish we stayed in town for a day or two just to taste more on the menu! Super shocked that there's not more ratings but I definitely implore you to check it out if you're on this page, reading this review. I really doubt you'll be let down (psst, get the grits for sure!)
