Front office and scheduling are a nightmare. Tried to get into office from the end of Sept 25 through Dec 31st in order to use the remainder of my dental insurance. They could not "fit me in" with any dentist in their office. I asked for a call back from the dentist several times and it never happened. had to leave more than $2000 in dental coverage on the table. Also, I believe a focus on upselling dental care. Do not recommend and I do not believe I've ever left a negative review anywhere on any site. This was a bad experience. read more

They are very rude and greedy . They made a mistake on my daughter's tooth that damn near cost me $3,000 and then had the nerve to tell me that I must find other providers . They didn't like me undermining the dentist when I asked for a second opinion . And I got the second opinion from someone they sent me to. So make sure you have your debit card credit card or checkbook in hand when you walk in there . You won't get a damn thing done unless you pay up front first good luck but we are moving on . read more

I called this office as soon as they opened to reschedule my morning appointment cause I woke up not feeling well. She put me on hold to speak to the manager . When she came back on there was no empathy , no understanding, nothing in her response which was "There's a 72 hour policy for canceling so I will have to be charged $100". So I asked her , you want me to come in sick ? And she again repeated the policy . and I quickly reminded her that this was a reschedule appointment anyway because last week , THE DAY OF , the dentist cancelled my appt . And the receptionist said , well yeah it doesn't apply if the dentist has to cancel . OH OK . So here I am , in this office feeling like crap , feeling bullied because if I didn't I would've had to pay $100. Sorry I didn't know 3 days ago that I was going to be sick. Then I pull in the parking lot at 9:05 and they calling me talking about am I coming . I could not have been more explicit. I'm in pain. I called for an appointment to have a tooth extracted after my first-choice dentist could not give me an appointment until July. Southern Delaware Dental told me to come in tomorrow (today, June 15th, 2023) at 9.10am. But first, their policy is to charge me $100 and they take the money BEFORE the visit (otherwise, no appointment). That would have been fine except that THEY DID NOT PULL THE TOOTH! I couldn't have been more clear about the pain, about the tooth needing extracting. Even while there, I insisted that, instead of taking a whole bunch of x-rays looking for other problems, they need to deal with that painful tooth. "Of course," they say. INSTEAD, THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND REFUSED TO EXTRACT THE TOOTH FIRST CLAIMING IT WAS AND I QUOTE "INFECTED." Trying to find reason in all this I say, "okay, well can you (at least) prescribe antibiotics for the infection." Then the story CHANGED, it's not "infected" but "too far deteriorated" for any of their dentist to remove the tooth. That I would have to actually scrum for an early appointment (if there's a cancellation, I might get it) with their designated oral surgeon to get what I came there and prepaid for. I have NEVER encountered a dentist like this before. I am a recent transplant from New Jersey, and while I expect that dentists might like to x-rays that aren't directly pertaining to the problem looking for future problems, I have NEVER had one do all that and then refuse to extract the tooth I came in that is causing me pain. Never had one utter an UNTRUTH about why they couldn't take it out. Unfortunately, I have had several teeth pulled before. THIS IS A SCAM! They make false representations. They then take your money over the phone (ker-ching!), and then send you home in pain with what amount to "good luck getting an appointment with our designated oral surgeon!" I've been DUPED. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU TO KEEP THE LIGHTS ON WHILE SENDING YOU HOME IN PAIN! And then the hygienist/clerk wanted to pick a fight! I kept telling the woman at the front desk "why are you escalating with that body language and the nasty tone?" I'm out of $100 and Delta Dental, my insurance provider, who knows how much more!. And nothing was done but taking pictures of my teeth! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. DON'T BELIEVE THEM IF THEY SAY THEY CAN GET YOU IN FOR IMMEDIATE RELIEF. ZERO STARS -- I PAID THESE PEOPLE MONEY AND I'M NO BETTER OFF THAN WHEN I WENT IN!!! WHAT FRAUD. WHAT SOCIOPATHIC BEHAVIOR! Think I may take a trip back to NJ for tooth extraction. UNBELIEVABLE! Dental service was not good. I transfered offices and a year later they are now billing me for an error. I haven't been into this office since August 2020 an now July 2021 they have 'found an error'. Now office staff is rude with me because of this. Don't go here if you would like half way decent dental work, a fair bill, respecful staff or correct billing practices. read more

I expect my dentists to be thorough, discuss options with me and respect my right to make an informed decision. I expect proficiency, professionalism and propriety; not condescension and flippancy. That was not my experience with this dentist. I also found that the office staff does not have great follow through. My impression is that they were lacking in experience. And the fact that the work area is cramped, noisy and appears chaotic, probably does not help them work effectively. I did, however, feel the hygienist was excellent. For more specific information which formed my opinion regarding this dentist, I have included some information and examples below. I had an accident when I was young, damaging my front teeth, and spent a lot of time with various dentists, over decades, having many procedures done. When I moved to Delaware, I got lax about my dentist visits (my bad). Last year, I had 2 teeth crack and an overlay fell out. Went to Southern Dental and started with X-rays, an evalution, and scheduling a cleaning. After the eval, one of the dentist's recommendations was to replace the missing overlay with a filling. I questioned her but she insisted it could be done. So, I agreed. It seemed fine but about a week or so later, when I was there for my cleaning, I mentioned that it was getting sensitive. After the dentist finished boasting to the hygienist about what a great job she did on the filling, she told me told me to just have the tooth pulled, along with the one next to it which also had a cavity. Why she didn't see this second cavity in the original X-rays just taken a few weeks prior is a little suspicious. When I questioned whether I should consider a root canal, she condescendingly stated that people of my age do not like to have their teeth pulled. Just for reference, I was in my mid 60's. And whether you agree with her recommendation or not, her comment was inappropriate. While waiting for my appointment with the periodontist to evaluate the cracked teeth, I called the dentist when one cracked tooth cracked yet again and the gum began bleeding. I was concerned and wasn't sure if it required immediate attention. She chastised me because it was the end of the day. I obviously did not plan for my tooth to crack at the end of the day. I have never had a medical professional make me feel that i was inconveniencing them as she did that day. These are just 2 examples which hopefully provide a sense of my experience. Agree totally with all other reviews on this page. This is not a quality dental practice. First clue, when you walk in there are approx. a dozen women sitting in a small space working the computers. Have you ever visited a dentist who needs a dozen women working the computers and phones. When you get back i. the chair, without ever speaking to you, they immediately start taking numerous xrays (clue #2). I was there for a problem with one tooth. No need for hundreds of dollars of xrays. I also had insurance, which they knew full well would not pay for them, as I was not due for any check up xrays. I ended up with a problem over the weekend. I called the office to attempt to get intouch with dentist. Recording stated, if emergency call 911! Now many, if not most, dental emergencies do not require 911. Due to no ability to speak with dentist, 12 hrs. later I ended up in ER with massive infection. Despite the fact that this dentist did prescribe an antibiotic, it was not strong enough. Had this dentist bothered to check on me the day after prescribing antibiotic, she would have found I was not doing well and possibly could have avoided the very precarious situation I ended up in. I still have heard not one word from this callously indifferent dentist and I have been left for weeks with this problem, as no one will see me without a referral phone call from this very poor dentist. I had a 3:00 appointment for a cleaning and check-up. When I walked in, they said they tried to call me because the hygienist was in an accident and will be out for several weeks. I said I didn't get a call from them. She said "oh, maybe we don't have your phone number." (I heard her give the next person the same excuse.) She said I could still have a consult with the dentist but would have to come back to get my teeth cleaned. Since I had driven 30 minutes to get there, I said Ok. She gave me a tablet and asked me to fill out all of the information. I did so but when I came to the consent form that said they will charge me $50 if I am ever late or cancel within 24 hours, I told her I didn't want to sign that because it wasn't fair if I ever have an emergency or unforeseen traffic and they did not have the same curtesy or respect for my time. She went and asked the dentist if that was okay (I could hear them talking through the paper-thin walls) and then she came back and said that I still have to sign the form to see the dentist. I handed her back the tablet and left. The office is very unprofessional. read more
