The chicken is very soft and tender but the star of the show here is the fried seafood. The shrimp is the most succulent juicy shrimp I have ever tried. I don't know how she does it, but she does. Went back a second time and got the dads plate. Came with, fish, shrimp and chicken. Once again the chicken and shrimp were amazing. The fish was just as on par with the rest of the food. Perfectly seasoned. The seafood is full of flavor. This woman knows how to season her food! The fried seafood is something I'd expect from New England or Louisiana. It's really that good. The ladies were all so nice and friendly, but I do think they needed more waitresses. We had to keep asking for refills, napkins, and even had to stop eating to wait for our side to make its way to the table. If you do stop on by this cute place, plan ahead and go with time to spare. This place reminds me of why I love fried fish. I ordered the dad's platter so that I could sample fish, chicken, and shrimp. It was all delicious, though the shrimp probably needed 15 to 30 seconds less in the fryer. I absolutely LOVED the chicken strips. They were amazing. The fish and shrimp were also top notch. Yes! This is the type of place McAllen needs more of! The owner is a transplant from Georgia, and she brought her southern cooking skills with her. I had the chicken sandwich, fries, and a soda for around $5! The chicken was very much comparable to the high watermark: Chick Fil A. The breast strips they use are moist, the batter is flavorful, and the bun is soft. It's served with some zesty pickles on the side, and hot sauce is available if you'd like. I got some ranch as well, which was a nice complement. The fries are crinkle-cut and very good. The real star is the owner- friendly and warm, eager for feedback, genuinely wants her customers to enjoy her food and company. I did, and I'll be back! read more

This is a fun new little family-run place in town. They basically have 3 things on the menu fried fish fried shrimp and fried chicken. It's set up to look like a beach shack. What I liked about this place is that it's not trying to be pretentious, just a place where you can get a nice fish and shrimp basket at a decent price. The owner was very friendly and nice. She alone makes you want to come back. We tried the fish, shrimp, and chicken and it was all good but the fish was the best. The beans were by far the most delicious side item. The prices were really good with a fish basket being about $6. A fish or chicken sandwich being $3. Everyone in the family can eat for under $10 each and have a nice meal. Simple tasty food. Tender melt in your mouth goodness, the chicken is so moist and flavorful that it just melts in your mouth the shrimp also well battered and fried. The sweet tea is to die for a bit on the sweeter side then I'm use to but this is southern fried I didn't expect it any different. Me and a friend went on a hunch and we were greeted by this very sweet lady who was very attentive to making our dinner worth Wild. So we just got home from this restaurant and let me say the food was delicious. I was prompted by Yelp of a new restaurant and my spouse and I were in the mood for something different. We arrive there and were greeted by Bobby, our server. Even though she was the only one in the front of the house, she always kept checking on the other patrons if they were thirsty or needed anything. This is a huge plus for me. This indicated that front of the house customer service was on point. When she gave us our refreshments and menu- the prices of what was offered was fair, not overpriced. We got the family size portion so we could have some leftovers for later. She served us a bean soup as an appetizer. It was delicious and tasted fresh not refrigerated. When our meal came it was nice and hot. I'm not much of a fish eater but I loved their fried fish!!!!! Bobby came over various times making sure if we needed anything. Again huge plus!!! When we finished our meals it was so good I was ready to go home to sleep!!! So the run down: Food was A+, Customer Service A+, Prices A+. I'm glad Yelp prompted me of this new place. If they continue with this perfect formula, their restaurant would be a premiere hot spot for real Southern soul food. Been wanting to try this place since it opened, and finally tried it today! IT WAS AMAZING! The fried shrimp, fried fish, and fried chicken were super crisp (no soggy breading AT ALL) and the chicken was super juicy and fresh! The fish was also very fresh and cooked perfectly, not over-cooked at all! Their tartar sauce is yummy. Even their southern beans and coleslaw were really good. My boyfriend and I devoured it all! I've been eyeing this place for the good part of this summer and finally had the opportunity to try it out. Had shrimp basket and what more can be said that hasn't been already mentioned countless times in the other reviews. The shrimp was amazingly fresh and full flavored. The batter completely covering the shrimp from head to toe. Complete with lemon and a side of fries. For $6 this was a very filling meal. Came in from out of town looking for something local and found this spot. So glad we did! It was amazing. Got the fish and shrimp basket -the breading is light, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fries are homemade and cooked through so they're piping hot, soft, and pair nicely with the seafood. The shrimp were juicy and big while the fish was flaky and yummy. My husband and I stumbled upon this place a while back and made a mental note to check it out. We finally had an opportunity to do that tonight and I wish we hadn't waited! This is a hidden gem in McAllen! I ordered Buddy's Plate (3 pieces fish, 5 shrimp, 2 sides) and he ordered Pop's plate (5 pieces fish, 8 shrimp, 2 sides). We both ordered green beans and fries for sides. The portion sizes are more than generous and a bang for your buck. I grew up in Southeastern Virginia, so fried fish and shrimp are my comfort food. The food was absolutely phenomenal! I haven't had a more perfectly fried piece of fish in my entire life. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky, and moist inside. The spices in the reading were delicious and perfectly balanced. The shrimp was also great, but the fish was definitely the star of the plate. I'm not sure if the tartar sauce is house made, but I have never had such delicious tartar sauce...as a matter of fact, I'm not even a big tartar sauce fan and this stuff was simply delicious. And don't forget a southern sweet tea, it's a perfect addition. This restaurant is homey and it felt like I was walking into an old friend's home for dinner. The owner, Bobbi, is friendly, welcoming, and more than accommodating. We have a 2 year old and I'm always nervous about her acting up when we go to dinner. Bobbi brought her little treats, played with her, and made us feel comfortable despite our busy little toddler. The service was downright wonderful.
