What a great find! We didn't expect to find this gem in the middle of downtown McAllen. The fish, shrimp and chicken are all made to order and come out fresh and delicious. We had the family feast, way more than enough for 4 adults. The sides were great. The coleslaw was just right, the green beans were perfectly seasoned and the beans had just the right amount of ham and tomato/onions. This is a really small place that's not very visible from the street. The decor inside is kind of plain and simple and the presentation of the food wasn't impressive so I was surprised that it all tasted pretty good. The fish wasn't that big but it was really tender and the chicken was even more surprisingly tender. My favorite is fried fish and fried shrimp, fries not so much. One time hubby went to pick up some food for me. They said 10 minutes turns out to be almost 20, the owner apologized and didn't charge him because of the long wait. Very sweet of her. read more

We decided to try this place out today, after reading good reviews. It was a cute and welcoming inside, and the building had a folksy type of exterior. The food we had was very good. Both my hubby and I had the fish and shrimp combo, which comes with two sides. The batter on both the fish and the shrimp was perfect. A little spice, a lot of flavor, not overwhelming, with a good crunch. The food was cooked when ordered, not just something made ahead of time and warmed up. Both the shrimp and fish tasted quite fresh. The coleslaw was super good as well. We got to meet the owner, and that was nice, too. My only complaint was our waitress. She was friendly, but needs to up her game. The place was not super busy, but she seemed more interested in her cell phone than being attentive to her customers. The food came out before the napkins and flatware we're brought out. It was some time after the main part of the meal was served before she brought the coleslaw, she only asked about drink refills when we were basically done. I think that she could be a good server, but she needs to focus a bit more. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We will be back. read more
