Southern Pest Control has protected our house and garage from termites since 1993. I called them recently about damage to a playhouse. Eric was very truthful and helpful. He said that since parts of the playhouse are on the ground water damage is making the wood soft and susceptible to termite damage. The areas must be off the ground for their termite control to be effective. He provided ways to repair the damage and prevent future damage. I appreciate his honesty and knowledge. I won't be calling Ashley Carroll and I won't be asking about their PEST CONTROL SERVICE PLAN which David Clayborn, their vice president of operations 'Sincerely' writes to me about. I do not have a termite warranty with them. They have not tried to call, email, or reach out to me in any way as far as I know. We do have a very good pest control person who works in Northern Maryland. Lynn Pest Management was recommended by our realtor and they have been outstanding, honest, and reliable. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$. I wish I had read the reviews before paying $150+ for them to treat a 1600sq foot townhome. I waited a few weeks to see if the spiders and other small random bugs would calm down but they did not. I see at least one spider a day and it's been 6 weeks. Their service was ineffective at killing/warding off bugs and their customer rep was entitled and rude when I called to express my concern. No offer to re-treat. He tried to get me into a year contract. If I'm telling you I'm not happy with the service I got, why would I pay for more? Clearly he did not care about my problem and just wanted my money. I asked for a manager to help me and he said she would call me back. No one called me back. There are plenty of pest control services out there. Please choose another. read more

We used Southern Pest Control for a recent mosquito treatment in our yard. It rained later that same day. The treatment was not effective so we called them back for a retreat. We were told that it is up to us to monitor the weather and reschedule ahead of time. (What!?) No retreat or refund was offered. The receptionist was not at all concerned with helping us. We would not recommend this company. Note: If this was a pandemic-related hardship, eg, the need to delay a treatment due to schedule overruns, we wouldn't have posted this review. The lack of concern for customer satisfaction and asking us to monitor when it was best for them to do their work were the issues. read more

I should have read the reviews! Don't do it! I'm a new customer in Potomac MD and after 3 treatments, we still had ants. Called and scheduled a visit with a "no show" twice. The Manager, Dave, was put out by my complaint and said they were too busy so find someone else. He termed the agreement to cut down his workload. He beat me to it! Don't do it! read more

After noticing a few random roaches and spiders around the house, I started looking for exterminators. I called and/or e-mailed at least 5 or 6 different companies asking for quotes. The only company to get back to me in a timely manner was Southern Pest Control. I received an e-mail within two hours of sending with some of their most common packages. They called me multiple times to follow up with me. Impressed with their customer service, we went with Southern Pest Control. So far, we are very impressed with the services. We signed up for a year-long contract that was very reasonable. We can call at any time and have the guys back out here to re-evaluate and spray again if necessary. We are told that many times if you call during the day an exterminator will be out at your house before 7 pm the same day. The exterminator who di our initial visit was very thorough and sprayed both inside the house and out. It was raining, so the guy used special pellets instead of usual spray outside. read more

Terrible service. Arrogant and angry people. Did a terrible job, resulting in everyone getting torn up by mosquitos in 4 days. We have a large property loaded with plants, and they missed large sections of our yard, even refused to spray the large deck, which is loaded with plants, like Wisteria, that harbor insects. I had an appointment with another pest control company to do a termite inspection. The other company canceled the first appointment with about a 45 minute notice, after I had taken off from work. Then they didn't bother to show or call for the rescheduled appointment. I called Southern and Cape May Courthouse New Jersey, and they got me in later that afternoon. I guess I should've done more research than depending upon a company to solve my problem. I live in a town home and was told by the sales rep who sold me a one year contract that they were GUARANTEED to rid my home of the pesky critter that lurks at night. But had I had the sense to question more, I am 100% sure I would not had purchased this 1 yr contract. I was first told he couldn't find an entry point until I demanded that he look behind my stove and there it was...a hole to be filled. And o...don't forget those sticky pad. After seeing the critter again, I called them back and was told I need to buy expand a foam to close a hole that the first rep didn't care to find. And traps with poison were placed outside. And guess who was left will buying and using the expand a foam...that would be me. So while I sit here and wait to see if my expand a foam will work or whether the bate outside will work I was left with..."by the way because you live in a town home and although your home is kept clean it's almost impossible to rid your home of the little critters". I say this to say. Never believe the "guarantee" unless you have it in writing. Never believe the "guarantee" because they don't have the power nor the intellect to rid your home of the critters. Frankly I'm done with this company. They locked me in for multiple years and the first year was not bad. When they would come and did the treatment, it would actually help Now I've been having to call them every month and I have a spider infestation all over my porch, my car and tree. Do you not use these people they take your money and their product does not work and then I put you in contract and even when you get orders to be moved somewhere else they don't honor the fact that you're in the military and have to move and keep you in contract and make you continue paying do not use them they are just awful. We bought a Living Social deal for them to spray inside and outside our home (normally a $300 cost) for under $100. I called yesterday to schedule an appointment and much to my surprise they had a same day opening for later in the evening. I decided to book the appointment. When the tech arrived, he asked what services I needed. Perhaps this shows a lack of communication between the office and their staff. I told him about the deal and what it covered. As we walked downstairs for the termite inspection he said "You do realize that if I spray down here you'll have to leave for 2 hours?" As if that's not bad enough, the pets couldn't stay either. None of this was mentioned by the receptionist, which seems like a pretty important piece of information. Not having much of a choice, I told him to forgo the interior treatment. The rest of the service went fine. He sprayed around the perimeter of the house with a very generous amount of pesticide. He warned us again not to go outside through the sprayed material for 2 hours. Strange, because when my wife approached the house immediately after he sprayed he didn't mention anything to her. In the end, they did half of what I paid them for. Things would have went more smoothly had they notified us that we would have to leave our house for 2 hours. For future pest treatments, I'll definitely go elsewhere. read more

TERRIBLE!! When I call to obtain more information about this service I ask if a contract need it to be sign and i remember clearly when they said their was no contract and they also advise me purchase services directly from them and not groupon, so I requested the treatment and I never saw any improvements. I call and cancel my service and this was never done 3 month later I received a bill for $95.00 and I call to find out why i was still being bill and they told me that i never requested the cancellation and if i needed any further assistance i will need to speak to the vice president of the company her name is STEPHANIE she provided me with the worst customer service ever, I requested for prove of the sign contract and never received she was rude and unprofessional. Terrible company. They lied!! I ordered a bee nest removal and they told me that they will not charge me until they find the nest and remove it. On the day of service, they did not find any bees or nest, but decided to spray around the house. They charged me the service fee and I called them to solve it. They told me that their customer service VP will call me back to solve the fee that they charged me. They never did. I will never use them. Terrible company. read more

These guys are not good... Mediocre service and they sucker you into the year long contract and take your money but don't really do anything for you. I had rats in my attic and had a tech come out. He put down like 3 traps and said he couldn't walk anywhere besides the center where there was a floor. I had already put my own traps out. He told me i needed to seal up the cracks, which i thought they would do as if it is in the realm of controlling pests... So i sealed up the cracks myself and got the rats with my trap and called to cancel the service and now they say i have a year contract which i don't remember signing. read more

I bought a mosquito treatment on Groupon to try this company. First thing they did when I called was try to sell me a plan for other pests. I declined. The guy arrived 10 minutes early & seemed annoyed that I wasn't ready. He then told me they only did 1,200 feet, instead of the 12,000 feet that the Groupon stated. He was here about 10 minutes tops & spared the perimeter. Needless to say, it was completely ineffective. I recommend using a different company. read more

Set up appointment to have them come out. Arranged my work schedule to let them into the house, and then to stay out of the house for the next few hours (not the easiest feat with kids involved). Appointment time arrives, and then passes. No one shows up. I call them to see what the deal is, and get voicemail (believe me, if you're calling to get service someone will pick right up). I never hear a word from them but more than an hour AFTER my scheduled appointment, I get an email from them (subject: resource de-allocation alert) that says the following: The date and time for this service order has changed. We will send you an e-mail confirming a new date and time when the appointment is re-scheduled. Hey, thanks for the heads up, Southern Pest Control! Super helpful to let me know this long after I've sat at home for hours, and scheduled my day as well as my kids' day around this appointment. I will let my home fall apart from pests before I let these guys get a penny from me. read more

Terrible. They suckered me in to a two year contract for over $500 which turns out includes only two annual services (unless I call on demand). I called to try and cancel the two year contract and offered to pay for the first year only and they said that I could not change the contract. read more

We just had our initial visit & treatment. Kevin explained everything he planned to do and kept me informed when he was changing location from inside to outside as well as the type of treatment inside and the locations of the treatment. He was very thorough. Yes, we have to call for additional treatments (Pet Lovers Plan) but that's no problem. It's on the calendar. We have a terrible ant problem and Southern Pest will come as often as we need according to the plan. read more
