Arrived at the airport 2hrs before our flight, we Always arrove early. Checked in my luggage, stood in line behind one other person while there was only one attendant at the southwest checking. We Waited as the line grew as other southwest attendants walked around behind the counter. The line grew to 12 people. finaly 2 other southwest workers came out, walking very slowly, in not hurry as everyone waited. Very disrespectful southwest employees. We finally got to the counter, the southwest employees didn't even check our id's as we checked out bags. Never experienced such horrible service at southwest. We spent almost 30 mins checking in, never even experienced this at major cities. Horrible. read more

If I can fly SW out of New Orleans, I do. The price is always right. The staff is always friendly. They don't charge your for your luggage, and consequently tipping 5-10 bucks at the curb is WELL worth NOT waiting in that big line inside. One time, on a flight coming in from Californian on New Year's Eve, the stewards gave us free drinks the whole way just cause we were from New Orleans. This review is mainly praise for Lawrence Mountain of the Armstrong Airport (MSY), but we're also happy with Southwest Airlines in general. I was surprised upon leaving for our trip to New Orleans during TSA Pre-Check screening, where I was informed that my Pre-Check info was not included on my boarding pass, causing me to have to leave that line and go through regular check-in. Not a huge deal, but enough of an annoyance to not want to repeat unnecessarily. During our stay in New Orleans I tried multiple times to figure out what went wrong on my own, to no avail. Multiple calls to Southwest support were also unproductive, with one support agent even indicating that this type of problem can't be fixed once it gets into their system. Really? Upon arrival at MSY for our return home I went to the main ticket desk and encountered Lawrence, an affable gentleman who quickly took an interest in actually fixing the issue. After checking my online info against my ID Lawrence quickly determined my birth date was entered incorrectly when I purchased the tickets. Fixing this error fully resolved the issue and now I know what to do if it happens again. In an era when so many of us are overworked and stressed with life's hassles it is a real pleasure to come across someone as professional, insightful and helpful as Lawrence. I hope this review helps him in some way. We are also quite happy with Southwest in general. The engagement attitude is with rare exception always positive and professional whether it is the ticketing agents, the baggage handlers or the flight attendants. The planes are kept in good shape, and the combination of ticket pricing for services received seems fair. We are no longer A list members after achieving Companion status for some time due to my work travel, but Southwest is still our go-to airline for any locations they serve! read more

Received an automated message my flight time had been moved back several hours which was going to make me miss my connecting flight. In a panic not wanting to spend the night in the Houston airport I left for the airport early to try and catch an earlier flight to make my connection in Houston. When I arrived they got me on the original flight and nothing changes. The staff was very calming and reassuring and I appreciated their can do demeanor. A few minutes later I got another call that my flight was canceled again?? Anyway, I flew on a later flight to Houston and SW paid for a hotel and flew out the next am. Thank you lovely people at Southwest, Kenner. I hope one or some of you read this. My husband and I were waiting for our flight, which was delayed. The woman at the counter was outstanding in rescheduling our flight. Everyone was frustrated and she just remained calm and it really put others at ease. Very, very lovely and I'm sorry I don't remember her or the other staff's names. Shortly after, I became violently ill with what turned out to be food poisoning from my last breakfast before leaving my favorite vacation destination. The long and the short of it was that the staff had to call an ambulance and, while I was nearly passed out and on a stretcher, they had the bags off the tarmac and with my husband, and helped carry items down to the ambulance. Before that, another wonderful woman had our flight changed to the next morning, tickets and boarding passes printed, and in my husband's hand before they wheeled me downstairs. Thank you, you wonderful people, for helping my husband deal with the logistical stuff while wondering what the heck was going on with his wife. It was so violent and so quick and all of you were just real pros through the whole thing. I've flown with Southwest for years to New Orleans just for the fun staff that are always on those flights. I love you southwest because of your prices and bag fees. I do not love you when 2 of 4 trips end up with luggage like this?! How does this even happen? Of course the great customer service attendant on Christmas Eve has the audacity to be rude and unhelpful. They claimed " it is not there fault and there was nothing they could do. " Do they think I got in an epic Kung Fu battle with my own bag? I would love to get my hands on airline training manuals. I bet it says something like "as for the consumer... F' em f' em f' em. Much, much gratitude to Letitia at the Southwest check-in area at the New Orleans Airport. Due to a delayed incoming flight, our first leg of our return trip home had been changed as we would not catch our connecting flight. We told Letitia our situation. Planned entire one day trip fron New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale to attend a 60th birthday party. Entire cost 1066.00 us dollars leaving on Sunday today returning Monday. If I could do no stars, I would! I was supposed to leave New Orleans on Sept 14, 2023, at 5:10 am. It was a direct flight, and I was supposed to arrive in Chicago at 8:30 am. They delayed the plane for mechanical reasons at flight time. First the pilot said it may take about 10 minutes to half an hour. Then about 10 minutes later he said it may take an hour to an hour and a half. Finally, about 7:30 am he said the plane was being taken out of service and for everyone to retrieve their belongings. I went to another agent, as instructed, and made arrangements for a new flight. I was put on 3 more flights to before getting to Midway at approximately 4:15 that evening. First, I lost my rental and there were no more to be had at the discounted price I had. They had cars at the airport but, my pocket couldn't adjust to that price and surcharge! I was scheduled to meet my granddaughter for the first time. Because of my son's situation, I was unable to see her! Southwest really did me a job! I lost a day, I lost a car, then to add insult to injury they give me a stupid Luv Voucher for $200! That wouldn't cover anything but riding on their damned planes! read more

I love flying Southwest, but I absolutely hate the baggage claim personnel. They are rude and have attitudes. They ask you to tell them what happen, you do, and then they basically laugh at you. I work in customer service and with the public, so I know how to speak to people and have compassion. These employees lack that, greatly. I will say that Southwest Airlines is my favorite airline off the top. Anywhere that I fly I will always check there first just because of the free baggage. Their fares are always better then most other airlines and the no change fees is another plus. Customer service is always on point and they're usually always on time. read more

SWA is one of the best airlines in my opinion. They are usually on-time, they offer a good number of flights, and the staff is always friendly. I'm currently sitting here waiting for a delayed flight which is rare for Southwest. This was a maintenance issue that was beyond the control of the staff on the plane. The gate agents did a great job of explaining to everyone what their options were, and they kept their cool when customers lost theirs. Another job well done by the flight attendants and gate agents. read more

Very organized smooth flights. I flew from New Orleans to Houston Texas to Raleigh, NC. The plane was comfortable and clean. I liked the open seating ( no assigned seats). Stewards were polite helpful and efficient! I had fresh peanuts pretzels and Vegetable Wheat Thins. I checked in my bags late on my departure but they made it ;). The app allowed me to check in. I was also able to buy WiFi for $8.00, however you cannot stream Netflix, I could watch live TV, the movies cost $5.00 each. I loved the two bags under 50lbs free and a free carry on. read more

I have to give a huge thank you to Southwest Airlines. Traveling for a funeral service is hard enough - but even more hard when it is for your sister at the Holidays. That being said let me just say that my travels with Southwest were amazing. I had several snafus while booking and they were so gracious and helpful. When I checked in the ticketing counter in Cleveland was so kind. They even made sure I had extra time to board to help make my trip less stressful both going to and returning from Louisiana. To whom it may concern, My husband and I were flying on Sunday, September 18th, the day after our wedding to start our honeymoon. That morning we flew out of San Diego, CA on Southwest and our flight was delayed significantly but we were told when we arrived in New Orleans, LA they were holding our plane to fly out to Fort Lauderdale, FL. Since we were told our flight was being held there was absolutely no issue. We got into New Orleans, LA where we were told when we landed that our plane was not held and that they had accommodations waiting for us. We went up to the gate counter where we were told by a woman that there was no if ands or buts...that we would be staying that night in New Orleans where we would fly out the next morning. That wasn't going to work for us because we had a schedule to fly to St. Thomas specifically at a certain time and that was the only flight to St. Thomas that morning. Naturally, I started crying extremely hard because that was our start to our honeymoon. My husband didn't take no for an answer because it would have absolutely ruined our entire honeymoon. We were working with someone who told us 'no' to everything we said until the lady directly next to her took over. Her name is Aleichia Potter who is a supervisor at the New Orleans, LA airport. Let's just say she was the ONLY reason why we made it to our honeymoon. She went absolutely above and beyond helping us figure out what we could do to get to our St.Thomas flight on time. We went back and forth following her everywhere around the airport while she talked to all airlines that could get us there. We were there for two and a half hours while Aleichia helped us. Many tears were shed in that process as I thought my entire honeymoon was ruined. After two and a half hours Aleichia, who we call our guardian angel, was able to get us on an airplane to make everything happen for us. This woman was the sweetest and most caring person I have ever met. She didn't have to help us but she did because she is an absolutely amazing person. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and she is a HUGE asset to Southwest Airlines. Aleichia Potter was the lady who helped us but she did mention her partner in crime Jeff Waddy as well. I want to personally thank both of them for making our honeymoon possible. Your customer service was superior and we will never forget what you did for us. We seriously can't thank you enough! This review is for Southwest Airlines, not necessarily the terminal in NOLA, just a 411 on that, m'k. In the last year, I've been flying a lot more, and had never really considered preferred airlines. I'm that, "lowest cost, book it NOW"-type gal and usually end up on a hodgepodge of flights. I booked Southwest recently just in case for some reason a flight had to be changed, and they offer the opportunity to cancel and still utilize the ticket, no extra fees. Great. I also love not having to pay for bags. It's just kind of a day-downer to have to pay a luggage fee at the gate when in the '90s, oh the '90s, I'd pack 2 ginormous bags fa' free. Did planes get smaller? Did we as a society get fatter? Wth? I digress... The no assigned seats is a crap shoot, I know this. My peeve is when I've been standing in between 25 and 30 for about 15 minutes 'cause I'm #27, and right before I get on the plane ol' #25 thinks it's cool to jump the line (in a sense). Bad form, bro, bad form. Also bad form...putting your purse on an empty seat and/or bogarting the middle seat between friends....ON A FULL FLIGHT that has been announced multiple times. "Mam, could you please move your Louis Vuitton purse and half eaten whatevers from the window seat, 'cause that's MINE! But whatever. Next time I'll know to check-in earlier to enjoy more seating options. Another thing noticed on flights there and back, the Southwest Airlines staff from the check-in counter to the flight attendants were really pleasant. I'd just come to terms with eye-rolling/disgruntled airport staff and flight attendants basically on auto-pilot, and I didn't experience that with any of their staff. They're not beating you over the head with fake smiles, just genuinely nice. The in-flight drinks are $5, they don't have any outlets but do have wi-fi that you can buy. I was never asked to purchase a credit card like I had on other airlines (which happened the last couple of times flying...), and my baggage was quick to arrive both ways. Just not a good flight this time. An when I contacted Customer Service they apparently couldn't read the whole message. They have no real interest in customer service. Their only concern is their bottom dollar an how much they can shake out of your pocket. Stewardess tried to lighten up the flight but can out more like an invitation for someone to open up the doors while in route. Plane was late due to employees not other passengers nor mechanical issues. So disappointed in SW's "so what" attitude. SW you get 2 thumbs down. Woke up to hurry up and get to the airport. Southwest that is. And when it's 4 something in the morning. Trust me it's a bit of a challenge. But Southwest was on their JOB... I'm pretty much a Southwest Airlines, I always go with Southwest especially flying out of New Orleans if I can help it. The prices from the MSY location are normally reasonably priced. If you coming or leaving New Orleans make sure to check the dates based on what's going on in town. I think the best way to do it is to fly out when everyone's coming in and back when everyone's leaving out. This strategy normally works for me and keeps most of my ticket prices rarely low; especially during the Superbowl. The Southwest staff is always friendly and funny; even in the air. Make sure to listen out for the silly things they say; without taking them too seriously. If flying from MSY. try to get there a little early if you are one to like to sit in one of the comfy seats and want to juice up some electronics. It's only a few of those seats so be prepared. Another tip, normally these flights in and out of MSY are full so make sure to do early online check in at exactly the 24 hour mark so you can make sure to get into the Group A so you can get on the plane first to pick the seat you would like. The further back you are the worst seats and harder to find a place close to you to put your carry all in. Overall I love Southwest. read more

Usually love Southwest Airlines.. but.. we had a horrible experience on Friday May 3, 2019. Delayed in Houston.. flight 1727 to New Orleans.. flight delayed 3 hours.. Mother Nature was expressing herself.. no ones fault.. finally a break in the weather.. we board the plane.. 5 flight attendants... wow.. we felt special...get seated.. strapped in.. waiting to go.., waiting.. waiting... the announcement came.. "we are trying to finish our paperwork."( from flight crew) then we will be on our way. Hmm we waited 3 hours... prior to boarding.. you couldn't do your paperwork then? Then after another delay.. announcement number 2...."Does anyone have an electric charger? No one responds.. what kind of charger? Tablet.. phone.. computer? Announcement number 3... flight attendant.. there are 98 people on this plane.. I know most of you have a charger... wait.. wait... can we get a drink..as we are still sitting on the tarmac.. same snotty attendant.. "Federal law prohibits" how about when we take off... you made us wait a long time... "Doubtful says snotty attendant and now her faithful sidekicks.."you probably aren't getting any service on this flight.. our safety is more important than your thirst... if you want a drink get off the plane " really.. the weather has cleared enough to fly.. so now your can predict the air masses.. you should change professions as I'm sure pilots and airports could use you... finally.. a single woman passenger boards the plane.. hmmm doors shut.. (we obviously waited on this passenger) take off announcements start... oh wait.. we can't attempt to taxi as a flight attendant is using the restroom... she had 3 hours and an additional 35minutes after boarding.. same as we all did...oh yes.. and the additional passenger who boarded and then "paperwork " was done .. Finally we taxi.. take off... whew... thank you for assisting my migraine... then the announcement.. " sorry folks" no service tonight." Well we already knew that as 3 of the 5 attendants had stated as much to each other in the galley... the sad part is the flight was smooth... nothing like the flight from Burbank to Houston.. which was a roller coaster.. but those attendants did their jobs... The attendants on flight 1727 from Houston to New Orleans were rude... snotty and could care less about the passengers.. they were content to "bit*h" about the wait time and "the rude passengers" who didn't get paid to sit for 3 and 1/2 hours like they did ... because wevwere thirsty. We usually love Southwest Airlines.. they friendly staff... easy check in.. but... listening to the attendants grouch about us the "paying passengers " their pay.. comparing their coworkers and who they hate to work with gave many of us a reason to question the integrity of the entire Southwest Structure... Flight 1727 from Houston to New Orleans you failed miserably at your jobs... a big "F" and a big black mark against the airline. read more

I fly Southwest. A Lot. My travel has really picked up the last couple of years (I will be A-List Preferred next year), but I always flew them before anyway. Once in a while, I hear bad stories. I see some on here. Yet...I don't understand. With all the flights I have flown with them, I just haven't had a BAD experience. I have had some mixups, yes, but they were always corrected. I have had agents go out of their way to help get a problem (even one I created) fixed, and they have always been perky and helpful flight attendants. Yes, sometimes flights get delayed, and with Southwest's habit of flying as tight a ship and schedule as possible, that can often really mess up connecting flights. However, it has been my experience that they do what they can to help. They've even held a plane over because there were 20 of us who would miss a connection if they didn't. Every time I have called customer service, it has been a perfectly fine experience. They have made the seats smaller. Southwest removed an inch from each row so they could add I think 4 or 6 more seats on each plane. Guess what? EVERY AIRLINE HAS DONE THAT. That is the new reality. Yeah it sucks, but it is the reality of travel now. What Southwest did that others haven't, is they tried to redesign the area to make up for it (much smaller magazine holders and such). Bags still fly free, and you still get complimentary drinks and snacks (sometimes premium snacks, if you're lucky). I guess I just don't understand how people can give this 1 star. Maybe I do get better service because I fly more. Maybe it's just because I'm more easy-going and don't blame every little thing (like the weather) on the airline. I don't know, but my experiences have always gotten me to my destination and back with luggage in tow and a smile on my face. read more

I fly with Southwest all the time, I love the prices, and the free bag checking.Recently on my returning trip from Las Vegas, to New Orleans. My bag was severely damaged. This has happened to me before on Southwest, same location. But, this time was really upsetting, I had just purchased this new luggage to replace the previously damaged luggage! Before leaving, I visited the baggage center, and showed the attendant my luggage. He informed me that Southwest was not liable for the damages that had occurred, and sent me on my way. Well today, I contacted Southwest customer relations, cause I needed someone to know of this issue. They were very cooperative, and offered a few options. I chose a voucher for travel. Now I just have to wait and see if the Financial Department approves it. read more
