Deans flight was delayed during his layover...he upgraded his seats to be up towards the front...yet no over bin room was left for him ...but he made it home nonetheless (after midnight). Everything about this airline is useless. We had the earliest flight of the day out of Omaha. I was so tired keeping my eyes open was a battle. Once I was on the plane the rude flight attendant gave me a full lecture on how to handle my bags when boarding and that really set me off. I sighed out of pure annoyance and she told me to fix my face. Midway through the flight I was dead asleep and service was starting. I did not give a crap at all and wanted to sleep. All of a sudden I felt excruciating pain on my head as someone had hit me. I was completely knocked out when I felt a hit again and it was that same flight attendant who was rude. We suffered emotional distress. My son got blisters on his feet from running. Our gates were changed to the complete opposie side of a massive building! without zero annoucements on the intercom on the original gate. I have health issues and had a very hard time running to find out last minute the gates were changed on the screen all while holding 40 pound bags on our backs my two children and I ran so much. A disabled person or elderly person would have never made it on time. They repeated the same annoucement regards everything else but the one most important, gate change updates!!!! Not efficient, crew is rude with dirty looks. They try and make you feel stupid. Not child friendly. So I suggest you not take this airliner if you have small children and strollers. They took forever to offload my stroller and wouldn't let me board after disabled and military, when I had a stroller , car seat that needed to be strapped in the plane. It takes time to wrangle a toddler and put in the car seat, fold the stroller etc. I didn't want to delay anyone because I had my hands full with a carryon and children items. Delta and American Airlines were so understanding and helpful when you have children. Especially American Airlines. Will not travel with southwest again with children. read more

Southwest has one direct flight to Dallas Love Field every day from Omaha so I took it to visit my sister's family recently. Flights were on schedule - easy trip about 90 minutes long. Prices were reasonable and I paid a little extra to have options to change, cancel, and board with the A group. They still have "open" seating so it's worth it (to me) to have better choices (closer to the front, window seat, etc.). Even for such a short flight there was a beverage and a small bagged snack. Everyone was real nice and there were no problems. I would recommend downloading their app before a trip. You can use it to check it, get your boarding pass, and see if flights are on schedule. read more

I have been a loyal Southwest customer for years but today I am really not happy with them. While I somewhat understand the issues that took place over the holiday week I think it is completely inexcusable to not have addressed a formal complaint I filed as a A list preferred customer. I was one trip away from gaining my companion pass and was unable to book travel due to their systems failure and somehow all the travel and money I spent with the Airline means nothing. Worst airline experience in my 55 years. One star is extremely generous. Left Vegas for a family reunion in Tampa. Stop over in Omaha. After landing and told to wait until the Omaha passengers disembarked, a new message stating that the flight had been canceled. Spent two hours in line to be told there's nothing they can do. Apparently, their employees decided not to show up due to vaccine mandates. No rental car, no hotel voucher and next flight two days later. Obviously, quite the shit show. Flying southwest for the first time was a huge culture shock to me. If flying on different airlines and commercial airplanes would be considered a culture...For the sake of this review, let's consider it so. Throughout my ten years of flying on commercial flights I've settled into the notion of structured seating and placement, (more recently) paying for check ins, having a complementary meal, then not having a complementary meal. When my bf booked our flight for our trip on Southwest I just assumed I'd be herded into the plane like any other airline. I was very wrong. And this is not a bad thing. It was just new, like opening a new toy. The pleasure of having our check ins free, being allowed to get on the flight despite being late and having a bright yellow tag on our check ins stating: LATE, all of this made boarding southwest quite swell. When we walked on I entered confusion land and didn't realize that we board depending on when you check in and what letter you are placed in. We were late and didn't get to sit next to each other, but it was A-ok. Service was friendly and nice and the flight was fast. Going to our destination and coming back, always a plus in my book. Being a noob to Southwest I absolutely see why it's popular with many people. I'm actually looking forward to flying Southwest again, check-in fee free, friendly service, and comfy seats! me and my two kids a six and seven was stuck at the airport and Chicago midway for two days because of Southwest kept delaying our flight and canceled it later on that night. I supposed to flew to Miami on 23 December. I didn't get there until Christmas, it was the worst experience of my life I had a Uber to Uber sleep from hotel to hotel so my kids didnt have to sleep in the airport. We spent all day at the airport November 23 and November 24 and a half day on Christmas then we had to drive through ORD Chicago just to get on a plane to get to Miami and every time I call them only thing they said was we can give you your money back and cancel your flight but I'm already in Chicago when we live in Omaha NE and all the other flights are expensive right now and my money wouldn't be back on my card to 5 to 7 business days like they didn't care they didn't pay for our hotel they didn't pay for the Uber I was going to Miami for a cruise we missed our cruise. The whole experience was the worse I ever had in my life. I lost a lot of money on my Airbnb hotels even my plane ticket because I didn't fly out when I was supposed to and they gonna tell me flights ain't guaranteed but my money is guaranteed. I want a full refund then I had to do a bag claim cause when I tracked my bags they was in St. Louis then went to Baltimore. When they told me my bags will beat me to Miami. read more

Most of the time southwest is decent, fare prices are reasonable and they don't upcharge you on the baggage. Also on time performance is usually ok. This past weekend we had service failures on both flights. First flight was delayed due to mechanical failures so we got stuck in vegas for almost 2 hrs, the other flight was delayed, not sure why, weather or other causes. My coworkers also got delayed on their flights as well, but since their delay was more than 3 hrs, they received credit vouchers. Now obviously the United incident is on everyones mind, so with that being said, yeah Southwest is not that bad. read more

I have flown with Southwest several times through this airport and each time I have not had a pleasant check-in experience. It seems like either something is wrong with their systems or the employees are not friendly. I specifically chose SW to be more comfortable as opposed to using another airline that had lower fares. So, I was actually looking forward to this flight, but when I arrived their computer system was down and they refused to check me in without me showing them my confirmation number on my phone. Well having been traveling all day, my phone was dead. So, they wouldn't make any calls or go out of their way to get confirmation even though I had my number memorized and provided a military ID. They also would not allow me to use pre check, even when I did get my phone powered on and showed them my flight info and pre check on my phone. They also just had a bad attitude, no apologies for their technical difficulties and no courtesy, "have a good flight" or what not. I don't think this is normal for SW so maybe they just have a grumpy group of check-in agents at the Eppley location. read more

Flight 441 from PHX to OMA was great. The guy at the gate (I believe C2) in PHX had a great sense of humor and was helpful. The flight crew was great and the head guy obviously had listened to George Carlin act about airlines and the airline announcements....I LOVE the safety lecture!!! Pilot landing in OMA was perfect!! We left PHX early and got to OMA about 39 minutes early which was nice since we were landing about 11PM local time and had a 3 hour drive home after that. Thanks SWA!! read more

The ground crew and flight crew were fast and helpful, and I watched them unload/load the bags - none were dropped! After a 3 hour flight delay at 6am Sunday morning I decided to head in at 5am when I was intending to anyway to sort out my layover second flight which I would now be missing due to delay. Upon arrival the ticketing line was probably 50 ppl deep and I took a deep breath, expecting the worse. However, the line moved along and in 20 mins I had been helped and given a new itinerary that was only going to be a few hours late at my final destination. Having flown Southwest multiple times out of Omaha, it has always been a pretty good experience (as much as flying can be). I don't mind the 'cattle call' format of boarding and seating and it seems to work well. Registering online or through their app is easy and works well (it's nice to transfer your ticket to your phone to go paperless). Being a small airport, boarding is usually pretty quick and easy. Southwest employees and flight attendants have normally been friendly and a bit more entertaining than your average airline employees. Overall a decent way to fly. read more

I used o travel on Southwest all the time. I had some amazing experiences with this airline and even got engaged on a flight with the help of the pilot and attendants. This is the first time I was able to use Southwest in years since my local airport didn't have the service and now I live near an airport that offers SW. I couldn't be more disappointed. The staff was fine...not great, not bad...nothing special. It wasn't any different than Delta or United. I remember when SW had the best staff of every airline hands down. These were not friendly and not helpful. The seats are so tight, even for a guy like me at 5'5". The people on the flight were backwards. The girl behind me had her bare feet on my arm rest. The flight attendant looked right at her and never said a thing. The policy of not assigning a seat seems to be a great idea for a low cost airline but I did not like it. I bought my tickets way early and yet I was one of the last people on the plane. I will definitely pay a few bucks more for another airline now. For many years I had touted this airline for their service...in tracings, at staff meetings, etc. but I'm done with that. If you fly Southwest "all the time", you should know that order of boarding doesn't go by when you bought your tickets, even if you bought them "way early". Southwest is definitely my preferred airline. Check in exactly 24 hrs before your flight and you'll end up right in the middle of the boarding order. Obviously you'll wait longer than other airlines that you can pick your seat, but it's worth it to me when I see how much I'm saving on flight costs and not having to pay for bags. read more

We will never Fly Southwest ever again!! Flying is already as stressful as it is. We flew from Arizona to Oklahoma City. Flight was full and we were in C group of course. When we entered the airplane the attendant said oh are these your children. I replied yes...he goes you could've boarded earlier since you have small children bc flight is full to ensure you sit with your children. He then said please let me know if you guys don't get to sit together I will have people move....this guy was awesome!! We had to split in 2's but no biggie!! Flip side fly 2 weeks later back home to Phoenix from Omaha....Trudi might have been the rudest lady I have ever met!! We went to board after A group due to having children 12 and under...(trick the guy in Phoenix taught me) walked to counter and Trudi replies....clearly this says C group you have a while before you board....I said but we have the children. Well you won't be sitting together flight is full! I replied can at least my wife sit with my 11 year old daughter...she replied probably not flight is full. I asked there is nothing I can do?? Trudi replied rude as hell again....you should've bought the upgrade if you were so worried about it...we walked away in disbelief and how nasty and uncaring and lack of passion 1 individual could have!! When C group was boarding brought up our tickets Trudi looked at me and rolled her eyes and shook her head!! R U KIDDING ME!! Who acts like that!! Last night I was supposed to go from OMA To ONT, but your first flight was delayed so much the connection was not possible. Had to spend the night and cancel my morning appointments. Was booked on an early morning flight. Arrived at airport at 5 am only to be told it was cancelled. Have spent 7+ hours so far in stand by HELL. Not that you care, but I'll now be missing a concert that my husband and I have been looking forward to for months thanks to your lack of planning/incompetence. You've now cost me 24 hours of my life and hundreds of dollars (hotel/useless concert tickets/loss of productivity). Several other people here are "enjoying" this same treatment.
