Egg & cheese on an everything bagel
    Ashleigh M.

The sandwich lacked flavor (for my personal taste) but the bagel itself was delightfully chewy and I loved the varieties of sourdough available. Kind and helpful staff in a no frills restaurant. I would go back to try a some of their other items and I loved that it's easy to grab a bite to eat and walk around the cute downtown area.

I stopped here before heading back to LAX in hopes it would be better than airport food. Unfortunately I didn't care for this. I know the bagels are made of sourdough but it tasted strongly of corn. It made for an unsettling taste. I wouldn't try it again.

Love love love Southwest Bread! I stopped in a few months ago and grabbed the Popeye Roll and the Tuna Roll. Both were perfectly balanced with bread and fillings. It is a great mini meal or snack and doesn't make you feel like you're overdoing the carbs! This Christmas, our church ordered them as our special treat for our Christmas service. They were a hit! I called 72 hours in advance to order them from Courtney because they make the orders with small batch sourdough. She is great! They were ready for pickup Sunday Morning! We had several varieties...Popeye and Olive Oyl, Babaganouch, Tomato Pie and the famous breakfast like roll! Thank you Southwest Bread for delicious and affordable food for the crowd!

Quick grab while in the area. Sandwich is great and delicious. I got el porto with focaccia while the wife got sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. I wish the lettuce on porto is not shredded Overall, delicious and would definitely get it again. A small cafe with limited space to wait around but with tables and chairs to dine in. Parking can be tough. Wait time is long so relax while you wait for your food.

Yum!! Gotta love a good sandwich place :-) Right in the heart of El Segundo, this is a fun and casual lunch spot. They also have some cute, delish "stuffed rolls" which are great to take home!

My second time back here for lunch and this time I tried their sandwich called The Jetty. I got it on their homemade sourdough focaccia bread. The sandwich was massive and very delicious. I only ate half and I was stuffed! I also got an Arnold Palmer which looks like it was homemade also? It was my first time having one. It was pretty good. Service is always great here. The staff is always friendly.

Southwest Bread is an inviting, quaint establishment with friendly and welcoming staff. There are a variety of food options such as sandwiches, bagels, and biscuits. I got the Hammerland sandwich which had tuna salad, arugula and red onion. It was delicious and fresh! I will definitely be coming back :)

Incredibly delicious bread & bagels & sandwiches!! - Bring a stack of sandwiches for your office! Call ahead! - Great breakfast sandwiches! - Deli sandwiches are also fantastic. Very simple and very high quality. - The sourdough baguette is super. - Friendly service too! This is a gem of a local business that we should support! Sliced country bread, baguettes, wonderful bagels. Quiet dining area with smells of the bakery.

This place is pretty good, everything sell out fast, you have to come early to get what you want! I ordered a ham, egg and cheese biscuit, it was pretty tasty! Try it out if you're in the area!

I looked up a local bagel shop and went to Uncle Stevey's! PERFECTION! I loved their bagel flavors - I ended up getting cheddar hot honey, chili garlic crunch and an everything bagel with a container of scallion cream cheese. I was in and out in two minutes tops! I went home to make some eggs, turkey bacon, avocado, and matcha to make a nice breakfast at home and it fully satisfied my craving. My daughter had to be at her meet by 6:45, so I showed up at 6:15 to pick up some bagels for breakfast. No one was in there when I arrived but the employees seemed to be working on take out orders already. Their menu had the right amount of breakfast type of bagel sandwiches that I was looking for - a bagel with cream cheese, a bagel & egg only sandwich, and a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. The bagel consistency was nice and chewy. The only qualm was with hubby's order. I asked for easy on the cream cheese and his bagel ended up with A LOT of it on his bagel so he had to scrape it off. Usually I'd eat the extra cream cheese but I had a bagel breakfast sandwich instead. *Note for next time: Get the bagel sliced and toasted with the cream cheese on the side I also picked up a loaf of their sourdough bread. Hubby is picky about sourdough but he really enjoyed the tang/flavor of their bread. It would definitely be somewhere to stop by when we're passing through or in the area again.

Bagels are chewy and very flavorful. We usually buy a half dozen with a cream cheese tub and toast them at home. What we don't eat that day go in the freezer. The staff does an adequate job taking orders but it always amuses me how 3 varieties of 6 bagels becomes a memory challenge that requires multiple times repeating the order. This has been true at every one of the half dozen bagel shops we have visited. There is plenty of parking behind the store and the seating inside is adequate as well. The electronic menu boards suffer from the same shortcoming that every establishment that uses them. You need to wait until the screen that you want to read pops up again. Would recommend for great bagels. At this point, haven't tried the sandwiches or anything else on the menu except for the rye bread loaf which didn't pack the same punch as the bagels.

Went into here today this morning and did not appreciate the frigid employee Lorena who gave me her bad attitude when I asked if they can rush my order since I was short on time. If she had need any of her orders rushed and the role was reversed, I'd be glad to help her with that. She turned around and scolded me with her obnoxious rude af foul attitude that I can call in for my order before I got here. I was driving, ain't no way I'm calling when I have to focus on my driving. I didn't ask for her opinion. Let alone her mouth of talking back to me. Just do what the customer wants and shut up. DUH. Furthermore, who the hell talks to customers that way? If she's not happy to work here or she's not getting laid in her life therefore making her be such a bitch, then don't work here. Her customer service attitude was SO WACK. If she's having a bad morning, don't let that shit out on customers. We are the ones paying your ass (your paycheck is from our money). General Manager guy, when you stand at the next register, look up at your surroundings to notice so you can greet your customers. That, being me. You should por favor train yourself and your staff to be more professional of nicer etiquette. No one deserves to be treated like that. By her. And you got young employees walking around looking busy working but ONLY ONE register open with one cashier while next register can be used too but isn't while you have a long line, makes NO sense. At all. Period. Train your young employees to work faster. Help the customers out in line and ordering. I saw the one dude in front of the line ordering took forever like he was struggling and then he walked to the side unprepared without the young cashier trying to help him out with making his order go smoother and faster. No wonder the line hardly moves. Why have 2 registers for when you're only using just one? Emphasis on only using just one. Makes no sense at all. We customers want to get in and get out. Not be there stuck in the sloth line. DO better.

These plants appeared to have union representation. They're everywhere. Hanging from things. Growing out of things. Quietly observing your meal. The whole place feels like someone built a really nice restaurant and then let nature move in as a long term tenant. The room hums. Not loudly. Not aggressively. Just enough. Glasses clink. People lean into conversations. Servers weave through the room carrying plates that look heavy enough to alter their center of gravity. Nobody seems rushed. Everybody seems busy. It's a difficult balance. The biscuits arrived first. Now, I'd heard about the biscuits. People talk about these biscuits the way fishermen talk about the one that got away. Slightly dramatic. A little emotional. Hard to verify. Turns out the stories were true. Warm bacon cheddar biscuits with maple butter. I took one bite and immediately understood why people order a second round. The outside has just enough structure to remind you it's baked. The inside is soft enough to make you wonder whether butter has secretly become a building material. We ordered another. Not because we needed another. Because apparently that's what happens here. The creamy polenta showed up next and felt like the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. Comforting. Smooth. Relaxed. The sort of dish that encourages you to slow down and stop checking your phone. The duck was one of my favorites. Lightly fried with crisp skin and tender meat, resting on white Italian beans and rosemary. It felt like something a French chef would cook after spending a weekend in the countryside and becoming briefly inspired by fresh air. At some point you stop evaluating food and simply nod in agreement with it. This was one of those moments. Dessert was equally dangerous. The olive oil cake arrived with strawberries and disappeared much faster than logic suggested it should. The cheesecake somehow managed to be rich and light at the same time, which feels like it should violate a law of physics somewhere. Service deserves its own mention. The whole team operates like a group project where everyone actually did their part. Plates appeared when they should. Water glasses mysteriously refilled themselves. Questions were answered without anyone making you feel like you should already know the answer. The chef's French influence shows up everywhere, but not in a showy way. Nothing feels complicated for the sake of being complicated. Everything feels like somebody spent a lot of time thinking about it so you wouldn't have to. By the end of the meal, I realized Manhattan Beach Post had done something difficult. It felt special without feeling serious. You can dress up. You can come casually. You can celebrate something important or absolutely nothing at all. Just order the biscuits. The plants already know you're going to.

Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Parking is metered or street parking. Overall, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but my experience wasn't bad just not significant enough to put in my rotation. Would come back if someone treated me here though.
