After three different veterinarians, multiple topical creams, elimination diets, and even a surgery, we finally came to Southwest Veterinary Dermatology. Testing revealed environmental allergies and we got started on weekly immune support injections. As predicted, about 18 months later, our cat was doing really well and has continued to do so. I have taken my cat twice on the recommendation of my furbaby's primary Veterinary. The staff all so attentive and helpful. Dr.Osbourn is a very great Dermatologist. She is working with on going food allergies and skin allergies my Siamese has. My cat is over grooming and look like a Sphynx and itching. Dr. Osbourn diagnosed the HP Venison Prescription Diet was the culprit and she felt the Soy was the cause. She prescribed another Novel Protein of Alligator or Kangaroo.. She went with Alligator and she loved it. She not ear the hard food because are small, so the Dr. prescribed hard food which eats with has Soy. I have a Dalmatian who was constantly itchy. It was so bad to the point that her feet were bald from constant licking and had bleeding raw spots over her body. We were referred here by our vet. We first started with diet changes and that helped with some of the itching and the constant ear infections and after her second visit they started her on an allergy medicine. Combined with both the diet changes and her allergy shot, this dog never itches! Her fur has grown back on her feet and her skin is no longer inflamed and her coat is thick and shiny! Wow! After months and months of trying to find solutions to our dog's issues with skin, ears, biting his paws, teary eyes etc, we heard about Dr. Osborne. She is truly an expert of allergies. She is treating our boy with a natural solution to his problems instead of just prescribing antibiotics and steroids. She is the best! Only one con: While her office fees are more than reasonable, some of the food our dog needs to eat can be pricy. However, after all the money we spent looking for answers, the food seems inexpensive. Dr. Osborn and her staff were so incredibly sweet. We heard about her through some references and she did not disappoint. Firstly, she's a young spritely veterinarian that loves animals. You can really tell! Our dog has recently started this itchy paw problem and we wanted to get ahead of the problem before he developed any secondary infections. We had a bad experience overall. Let me explain. I have a dog with food allergies and we've been battling allergies for the last 4 years - because his immune system reacts to some of the animal proteins. We just moved here from CA in the summer and my dog got another flare up with skin infection due to allergies. Dr. Osborne was able to evaluate him and we went home with new antibiotics, steroids and new diet prescription: a vegan diet! I was very surprised about the diet change where we remove all animal protein completely, and instead feed him Pinto Beans as a main protein and cooked veggies. Back in CA we went to dermatology specialist as well, and no one ever suggested us to feed a vegan diet, because dogs are considered carnivores (they do need to consume meat). Dr. Osborne is insisting that dogs are omnivores and can be perfectly healthy on a vegan diet. So I did a lot of extensive research online - the result of these findings is that the dog is undeniably a true carnivore. Dogs need to consume some animal protein to be healthy. They are not meant to eat any cooked beans or carbs! Their pancreas is not designed to handle regular carbs consumption. People please do your own research and dont just rely on what the vet is telling you. I did have a couple of links included in my previous review, and my review got removed. Another problem we had: my dog's anal glands were expressed in a very bad way, they were damaged/raptured (I believe), because my dog was in pain for quite some time, he was licking his bottom like crazy and he was crying while eliminating for about 4-5 days after the technician expressed his glands. Allergic dogs have a very big problem with anal glands - especially on a Pinto Bean vegan diet (soft stools), and it's not difficult to cause trauma to those little glands while trying to express them. The technician was obviously not competent and I feel sorry I let them do this procedure to my dog. No, I don't recommend this place. read more

Very unprofessional place! MONEY-HUNGRY! Beware. Brought my cat over here to this business and the extremely rude and insulting receptionist became vile and disrespectful telling me about my cat in the crate: "Do you want me to room you all in the bathroom!!!" She did this in front of other customers and it was completely un-necessary. It was brought to the Dr.'s attention as my Cat is very nervous about being in a crate for long periods which they knew and could care less. I also requested to come at a slower period so the cat could have a quiet place without so much barking scaring her to death. They did not help with that either. Bottom line: Dr. did not give a crap and it is apparent they have so much business you simply are treated as a number and not with value. They sent an e-mail in a threatening tone warning me to not come on the property as it is private property to include the parking lot as if I am some criminal???!!! This is all true and they can try to lie and whine but it is true and I warn anyone thinking of coming here to think twice. They requested the previous review be looked over to try to get out of it but the truthis the truth. What I have is a few hundred dollars spent and a cat still scratching herself to death. They also called the main Vet. that sent me to them and created issues between me and them which is being looked into as we speak. FACTS are FACTS regardless of any spin, games, or a Dr. making excuses of why they cannot professionally service my animal. Very unprofessional place. That is FACT. They cannot take away others freedom of speech-opinion either but nice try. Poor Quality, Poor Treatment, Threatening, and Disrespectful towards their disabled customers. We have been taking our do to this vet for about half a year now I believe. Veterinarian Dr. Fiona is extremely component and took ample time to review our dog Rosa's extensive medical history for such a young age of 2. She put our dog on a vegan diet and it has eliminated most issues she has with her skin. However I am not able to call this clinic for another appointment, the phone appears to be turned to a fax or something. I have no other means to contact the veterinarian which is disappointing. Besides contact being hard with the days they are open and phone line now, very good vet. If your dog has skin issues she is worth the money to get your dog healthy and happy. read more

Being a pet owner and health care professional who had a bad experience at another specialty veterinary practice (for a different dog and condition), I drove to Southwest Dermatology with some apprehension. All was relieved the minute I walked through the door. The staff members were warm and friendly. My slightly reactive pup was treated with kindness. The technician was both meticulous in her information gathering and knowledgeable about the disease state. And, the assessment and treatment recommendations (including a detailed description of risks, goals, and plan for follow-up) were thorough. Dr. Osborn was terrific, pointing out my dog's (many) affected areas and likelihood of respective types of allergies. The team was also open to my thoughts and concerns. The treatment plan was admittedly overwhelming, but if it relieves my dog of even some of his allergic manifestations, it will be worth it. Oh, and price, I found to be quite reasonable. I expected to pay 50% to 100% more. I will update my Yelp review in 8 weeks' time with my dog's outcomes. Hoping for the best! read more

Dr. Osborn and her staff are absolutely amazing! My little Mitsie was a patient there for about 4 years and she looked forward to her visits. She never got nervous when she walked into that office like she did when she walked into other vet clinics/grooming facilities. Mitsie's brother Roscoe always tagged along for moral support and they loved him as much as they loved Mitsie. He was just along for all of the attention and treats more than moral support I am pretty positive. They went above and beyond to figure out what was wrong with her and explored many options to help Mitsie clear up her skin allergies. Unfortunately Mitsie passed yesterday but if I ever need a doggie dermatologist, this is where my dog will be taken. Thanks you guys for all that you did to help my little Mitsie. Dr. Osborn went out of her way to help my dog, and gave us a wide range of options for treatment. I contrast this with another vet allergist who was insistent on only pursuing allergy shots, and no other course (none at all! only the allergy shots!). Dr. Osborn and her technicians did give me at least five different ways to treat my dog, the cost broken down over time, and the vet herself sat patiently with me to explain the side effects and the pros and cons of each. I just found this experience to be very thorough and pleasant. I never felt rushed. I definitely recommend this vet allergist. read more

The staff is Great!! Dr. Osborn saved my dogs life. He has been to numerous vets and outside of steroids, nothing would stop the itching. Dr. Osborn was able to diagnose the cause of the allergies and get him treated and it's like I have a puppy again. Highly recommend. read more

All of the treatment options with pros & cons and associated costs were clearly laid out for us so we could make an informed decision that we were comfortable with. I took my dog to this Vet. It was very Pricy. All I left with was an expensive bag of prescription dog food a tiny bottle of a liquid for $20 ( which did absolutely Nothing). Vet was sweet but seemed uninterested. We were the only people in waiting room and still sat there 30 min. Not really sure why she's there. I thought she would be more knowledgeable (about dog skin issues) then my dogs regular very disappointed read more

I have two Scottish Terriers siblings with terriable food and skin allergies. They're on a controlled vet food diet and allergy medications. Dr. Osborn is great with my two little drama queens and diagnosed their issues completely. The staff is kind, caring, pleasant, and very helpful. The problem for my dog is that she has gotten far worse since we began treatment at SVD in April. My dog has been on a vegetarian diet and larges doses of antibiotics and steroids. At the end of June the vet finally said, "We can send a sample off to see which antibiotic the dog actually needs to clear up the infection." Shouldn't this have been first? read more

I took my dog here several times and he kept getting worse and worse. I pressured the vet into performing the skin test because she felt it was only a food allergy. Once we received the result he was started on allergy shots and still was not improving but getting worse. So bad in fact that we were forced to a different vet. Come to find out his skin infections were resisting all treatment because of what he received from Southwest Veterinary. My dog was in such bad shape when I left for a different vet he had hardly any hair on his body left and oozing sores all over. Now I have not paid my final bill with them because of the level of care he received there. They will not share how allergic he is to stuff with my new vet either. So they are not concerned about your pet but only if the check clears. I am also reporting them to the animal review board for their poor level of care and refusal to share at what levels my dog is allergic to items. If you love your animal do not take him here. read more
