Spicy chicken. There are TWO layers of chicken here, one underneath the visible one of the same size.

This place is a chain?!?!?!? It doesn't SEEM like a chain: Is the food good? It is absolutely outstanding! Are the portion sizes small? They're enormous!!! Is all the food made ahead of time, fast food style? No, it's all made to order. Is the service disinterested and non-caring? Nope, the people running the establishment couldn't be friendlier and more helpful. Is it expensive? It's stupidly cheap, especially considering the titanic amount of food you get for your money. I'm SERIOUSLY blown away by Joy Teriyaki! I stopped in after working late for a fast dinner, and was mightily impressed by the friendliness and knowledge of the staff about all of the dishes. The service was fast and friendly, and upon opening my take-away at home, I couldn't believe the portion size! A big salad, two big scoops of rice, and, no joke, what appeared to be FOUR entire chicken thighs (boned and uniformly sliced). I could barely finish it. The other dishes were all equally generously sized. Unlike most establishments where portion size is the draw, the quality is tremendously great! Everything was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious! The spicy chicken actually packs a good amount of heat, and has an amazingly great flavor. Don't bother with any of the other local teriyaki chains, just go to Joy. You'll be joyful that you did!

Kung Pao. Pic of Lima Beans, green Beans, corn, cubed carrots. Nasty! Chicken teriyaki was gross it had a jelly type teriyaki glaze. Bad

Nasty nasty! Who adds Cooked Canned vegetables to Kung Pao chicken? It had lima beans, green beans, corn and soft cubed carrots in it. We also ordered chicken teriyaki that had this jelly slimy glaze on it. It was horrible. Absolutely the worst. Be warned

    Teriyaki chicken was amazing

We were going to get a burger but the spell form here was to good to pass up. My son got the noodles and chicken and I ordered the chicken teriyaki with a salad and rice. It was amazing and one of the best I have had in Portland. We will be back!!

My husband and I stop by here for a quick date night and loved it. The food was delicious and the price was just right. The atmosphere was nice and the service was great. Noticed a lot of people coming in to get take-out as we dined-in.

The chicken and beef was cold and undercooked. You have to pay extra for a little cup of sauce to go with your rice and meat.

Anyone looking for hand-pulled noodles: as of May 2025, you will not find them here. They apparently stopped serving them. May return for: Beef In Chili Sauce (cold) - I love this dish and have had it at many other places. Chili oil was delicious; onions and cilantro went well with the thin slices of beef. Would not return for: anything else. Taiwan Beef Brisket Tomato Noodle soup - it was bland broth, unfortunately. Uncooked spinach and tomatoes added on top, very little flavor. Brisket was not very soft. Mongolian Beef Chow Mein - there was a puddle of sauce at the bottom of the bowl, which I would not expect for chow mein. Definitely not cooked in a wok (or done very poorly). Handmade spicy pork wontons - also not flavorful. If they used the chili oil on the Beef in Chili dish, this might taste better. But the filling would something to be desired.

We were greeted right away by the staffs. We ordered spicy wonton, pork belly noodles, tomato brisket noodles and Lanzhou noodles. The portions were generous. The pork belly was marinated with great flavor however the soup was bland. The Lanzhou noodle was spicy and had stronger flavor broth. One of my boys liked the tomato beef noodle and finished the bowl with lightning speed. This is a good spot for a quick noodle meal.

"Let me know if you have any questions!". We had questions about her menu items, and she answered them nicely and thoroughly, in detail. Okay, so we order two things: the S3 and the Spicy Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, and here's what U think about each: Tonkotsu Ramen: -The Meat doesn't have a huge initial, impactful taste, but the flavor settles in a couple seconds after you bite it and it's a very soft, warming feeling. -The Broth is where the spice is, and it's not like "oh my mouth is on fire" it's the type of spice that hits you in the back of the throat, so it's bearable but I couldn't chug it personally, I had to take sips which is nice for someone who devours their food like there's no tomorrow (like me). -The Noodles are.. just your typical Ramen noodles, nothing special to add there but nothing bad to say at all! -The Egg, although not marinated in soy sauce like some places do, was cooked well. The inside was soft and gooey, but the white was fully cooked. I have no complaints! -The Mushrooms added a nice texture to the noodles and the overall dish, and worked to make it even more satisfactory. The S3: -I don't have much to say because my cousin ordered it and I only had a few bites, but the veggies were cooked nicely... -The big boom about it was the noodles. If I had to describe it, I would say it's like.. an Orange Chicken type of Tater Tot, it was really unique and fun to eat. Next time I go, it'll be hard to decide what to order.. Okay, don't just take my word for it, go see for yourself! いただきます!

The broth had the perfect kick without overpowering the depth of the ramen, and everything came out hot and fresh. Parking was easy, food cart was easy to find! Five stars, and this one's an honorable mention that somehow turned into a regular habit…read more I'm talking about K-Pop at the Happy Valley food carts, and yeah, there's a reason we keep circling back like it owes us money. You ever go somewhere thinking you'll just grab a quick bite, and next thing you know you're planning your return before you've even finished chewing? That's this place. What I like is they don't box themselves in. You've got Korean, Hawaiian, and a little mix of everything going on. I lean Hawaiian most days, something about it just hits right, especially when you're not trying to go all in. Sometimes you're just grabbing food, maybe bringing something back for later, pacing yourself like a responsible adult. This is that kind of spot. It works with you, not against you. And here's the thing, I used to write those safe reviews. "It's cute. Nice service." That tells nobody anything. That's background noise. This place deserves better than that. This is a spot you actually remember. Friendly people, solid food, and a consistency that turns a casual stop into a routine. Happy Valley's already a great area, so you're starting off on the right foot just being there. But if you're walking into that food cart pod and wondering where to go, I'm telling you straight up, this is one of the top choices. No overthinking it. Take my word for it, or don't. Either way, you'll end up here eventually.

This has become my favorite cart in the Happy Valley pod. The menu is an interesting mix of Korean,…read moreJapanese, and Hawaiian, which is nice to be able to mix it up each visit. My go-tos are the Shoyu or Teriyaki chicken plates, the Kalua Pork Plate, or the Bibimbap. My only do-betters are that the teriyaki chicken can sometimes be dry, and I wish both the chicken dishes came with a sauce. They do have sriracha packets if you ask. The plates come with rice, a small lettuce salad and dressing (could use a little more of that sometimes), and a mac salad with pretty simple black pepper seasoning. It's a good amount of food for the price. I also really appreciate, and choose to visit K-Bop, because they use the compostable clamshell containers, and not the wasteful single-use plastic like so many others. Recommended if you're stopping by his cart pod.
