Salmon & Toro Nigiri, Oregon roll, and takoyaki
    Mia H.

When I came here, I was hoping to grab just a quick bite and it's a decent stop. Walking into the joint, there's so much decor and it somewhat transports you to a cozy, beautiful Japanese spot. The service was quick and very sweet. For those two alone, I thought it was exceptional. The food however, left a lot to be desired. I ordered sake and toro nigiri, an Oregon roll, and takoyaki. I was super excited for the takoyaki so when I was greeted with bonito-less, scarce sauce, and a lackluster plate, I was disappointed. The takoyaki ball itself was alright, but without its complements it doesn't offer much. I've never been to a place that does their takoyaki like this. On the other hand, their rolls were standard. Presentation was okay, and quality was also alright. The thing to note is that whenever ordering nigiri (at least when I went), they didn't have a lot of the options they listed on the menu which was a bit frustrating. Overall, although it's very cute inside and the service was nice, the food doesn't offer anything special and I most likely won't be coming back.

The service is family owned, and this is a local's hidden gem. The fish is so fresh, melts in my mouth like butter. The ambience is classy yet casual. This is the best sushi spot I've found in town so far!

Came here thinking it was Motto Motto - Revolving Sushi Bar but decided to sit down and try this place anyways. Service was polite and the restaurant was fairly tidy and inviting. The tempura appetizer was pretty good except for the sweet potato. It was a bit undercooked and crunchy. For the price and amount, I thought it was not worth the value. The nigiris had thin yet long cuts of fish. Decent fish freshness and quality but also quite pricey for the nigiri. The house special roll was also decent but the nori they used to make the roll was a little tough and chewy. All the food came at a slow pace even though there was only one group of 2 people at the restaurant when we arrived. More groups started coming in after we ordered but still felt like there was a delay in getting the orders out.

I hate to give bad reviews during Covid.. people are trying to make a living and I want you to give it a try.. Here's what I see Hard rice, tastes like sushi I would get from Safeway/Kroger just to get by Fish not super fresh.. more like conveyor belt quality Rolls were dull and boring Crab mix inside the California roll base not super creamy Service decent Just had water only Restroom was at least clean 2 stars Not for me, but may be for somebody else.. go try for yourself

For conveyor belt sushi this is pretty good. A little bit more on the pricier side but good quality sushi. There's many options to choose from the conveyer belt or you can order what you want from their menu. Once you make an order a little train delivers the order directly to you. I got a bunch of things but I really enjoyed their takoyaki, it was piping hot. The unagi and seared salmon was good as well as other rolls they had. Overall good experience here and will be back when I was done sushi

Really friendly staff that accommodated my keto diet. I was able to substitute miso soup for sugary salad. They were great!

The space has a handful of tables and seating if you prefer eating inside, as well as some colorful benches along the outside of the establishment. The person at the POS had a friendly demeanor and also asked if the amount of shoyu sauce packets were enough or if I needed additional pair of chopsticks which was appreciative. The inari sushi were delicious and the tofu pockets were packed with ingredients which justifies the price and cost. They didn't even skim out of the amount of pickled ginger and wasabi! The tofu pockets had a light yet pleasant taste which did not overpower the taste and freshness of the fish. The truffle salmon and yuzu hamachi are my favorite inari sushi out of the ones I've tried. I was hoping the blackened tuna had more of a kick or the spices were more forward but it was still enjoyable. The mango salmon is definitely creative and creates a harmonious pairing of flavors.

The smoked salmon with inari was especially impressive--simple but so satisfying. I also had the Salmon Donburi. The sauce had a nice tang to it, and the salmon was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. It did take about 20 minutes to come out, but honestly, it was worth the wait. Definitely recommend if you're craving quality salmon dishes. They were not running around -- they were simply talking and laughing. A few nearby tables later became occupied by new customers, and apparently someone complained to the waitress that we were bothering them. Instead of defending us and explaining that the children were not doing anything wrong and were simply laughing, we were approached and asked to move to the patio because we were "disturbing other guests," even though we had been there first. Of course, I objected and said that we were not going anywhere. These are 3-year-old children -- you cannot tape their mouths shut or keep them silent like dogs on a leash. It was very unpleasant to experience such a lack of customer care. If we were seated there first and other child-free guests saw there were children in the restaurant, they could have chosen to sit on the patio instead of forcing us to move. It was very unexpected and upsetting, and it ruined the celebration for us. But the food was delicious, thank you.

"Let me know if you have any questions!". We had questions about her menu items, and she answered them nicely and thoroughly, in detail. Okay, so we order two things: the S3 and the Spicy Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, and here's what U think about each: Tonkotsu Ramen: -The Meat doesn't have a huge initial, impactful taste, but the flavor settles in a couple seconds after you bite it and it's a very soft, warming feeling. -The Broth is where the spice is, and it's not like "oh my mouth is on fire" it's the type of spice that hits you in the back of the throat, so it's bearable but I couldn't chug it personally, I had to take sips which is nice for someone who devours their food like there's no tomorrow (like me). -The Noodles are.. just your typical Ramen noodles, nothing special to add there but nothing bad to say at all! -The Egg, although not marinated in soy sauce like some places do, was cooked well. The inside was soft and gooey, but the white was fully cooked. I have no complaints! -The Mushrooms added a nice texture to the noodles and the overall dish, and worked to make it even more satisfactory. The S3: -I don't have much to say because my cousin ordered it and I only had a few bites, but the veggies were cooked nicely... -The big boom about it was the noodles. If I had to describe it, I would say it's like.. an Orange Chicken type of Tater Tot, it was really unique and fun to eat. Next time I go, it'll be hard to decide what to order.. Okay, don't just take my word for it, go see for yourself! いただきます!

You ever go somewhere thinking you'll just grab a quick bite, and next thing you know you're planning your return before you've even finished chewing? That's this place. What I like is they don't box themselves in. You've got Korean, Hawaiian, and a little mix of everything going on. I lean Hawaiian most days, something about it just hits right, especially when you're not trying to go all in. Sometimes you're just grabbing food, maybe bringing something back for later, pacing yourself like a responsible adult. This is that kind of spot. It works with you, not against you. And here's the thing, I used to write those safe reviews. "It's cute. Nice service." That tells nobody anything. That's background noise. This place deserves better than that. This is a spot you actually remember. Friendly people, solid food, and a consistency that turns a casual stop into a routine. Happy Valley's already a great area, so you're starting off on the right foot just being there. But if you're walking into that food cart pod and wondering where to go, I'm telling you straight up, this is one of the top choices. No overthinking it. Take my word for it, or don't. Either way, you'll end up here eventually.

This has become my favorite cart in the Happy Valley pod. The menu is an interesting mix of Korean,…read moreJapanese, and Hawaiian, which is nice to be able to mix it up each visit. My go-tos are the Shoyu or Teriyaki chicken plates, the Kalua Pork Plate, or the Bibimbap. My only do-betters are that the teriyaki chicken can sometimes be dry, and I wish both the chicken dishes came with a sauce. They do have sriracha packets if you ask. The plates come with rice, a small lettuce salad and dressing (could use a little more of that sometimes), and a mac salad with pretty simple black pepper seasoning. It's a good amount of food for the price. I also really appreciate, and choose to visit K-Bop, because they use the compostable clamshell containers, and not the wasteful single-use plastic like so many others. Recommended if you're stopping by his cart pod.
