Broccoli tempora and state rolls with a wide variety of beers and other spirits. Best in the city

By far the best! Went to Tokyo and enjoyed the sushi but couldnt wait to get back! State rolls and specials and they have brown rice that actually still tastes like sushi! Lovely atmosphere and authentic presentation. Hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot with over crowding but it's the real deal!

Had to chance to drop by for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of their menu. Great meal!! I had the Soft Shell tempura crab, the Wisconsin Roll and some gyoza. I was a little surprised at how slow it was during prime lunch hours, so thought i would throw some love their way!

Salmon & Toro Nigiri, Oregon roll, and takoyaki

Walking in, the restaurant is quite spacious and cozy. There's a lot of cute Japanese decor and it makes the place very inviting and fun. Service was very quick and kind. Considering these two, the place is amazing. The food however, was a bit disappointing. I ordered the sake and toro nigiri, takoyaki, and an Oregon roll. The nigiri was pretty standard, however, I was disappointed in that when ordering, we tried to order a couple other nigiri that were on their menu (ie. ika, uni, amaebi) but they didn't have any of it in store. To not have 1-2 items is fine, but if every other item I'm inquiring about is out of stock, it's frustrating. The Oregon roll however was pretty good. The item I was most disappointed about was the takoyaki. When it arrived, there was no bonito flakes, little sauce, and overall, it was very lackluster. So while it's very cute inside and the service was nice, the food doesn't offer anything special and I most likely won't be coming back.

    Soft Shell Crab Tempura

Did a take out order and the sushi was good and fresh! Sashimi combo had some great fish options in it so I'm glad we did that one. The soft shell crab tempura was a little over battered.

    Updated version of the menu

Came here to try new things and the other reviews confirmed that it's a wonderful place to try! Came here around 5-6pm pretty quite not many people when we arrived very pretty decor and not too loud music at all so you can keep a pretty casual atmosphere here. Ordered two classics of the cucumber and Cali rolls both portions were beyond normal maybe a half size bigger than average places? Also tried two state rolls of the Oklahoma and Montana, both very filling had a unique taste compared to other locations as well as bigger than I imagined it would be. Oklahoma had the "seafood dynamite" on top of Cali rolls and it was served warm, if you like a balance of seafood flavor I'd recommend to try this one (does have a umami flavor if you're a fan) and the Montana had a variety of fish inside that was held together pretty good! In total spent $44.15 for two people and honestly I'd come back here again the portions and price spoke for themselves. Staff and chef were beyond nice and catering to our needs.

Food (3/5): We ordered the Oregon Roll, Nevada Roll, Bento Box with Bulgogi and California roll, and Bulgogi dish. Overall the dishes are alright but some improvements to be made are that: the miso is very salty, the rice on the sushi is mushy and sticks to the pieces, and bulgogi was overcooked. However, none of it was really bad it just wasn't great and didn't taste like authentic Japanese food. Venue (4/5): The venue was spacious with lots of seating, Japanese decorations and overall looked nice. Some parts like the floor and bathroom needed maintenance, e.g. noticeable cracks and bathroom wasn't stocked with paper towels. Service (3/5): Friendly person but may have been overworked or understaffed since the service was slow and requests like refills took a while.

Wyoming State Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, New Mexico State Roll 10/10 recommend. Hidden gem.

I was put on to this place by a friend and haven't liked to go anywhere else for sushi! The service and restaurant are great! If you're nearby or even if you're not, I'd recommend!

Service was quick and friendly. The sushi rolls came out in a reasonable amount of time. Our only criticism on this visit was that the New Mexico roll wasn't rolled tight enough, and with round chips sticks, this was challenging and messy to eat. Loved the crunch shrimp and not all that spicy.

The food was great at this adorable little restaurant. Found it on a whim and do not regret eating here at all! Our waitress was delightful and very helpful. Will most likely return here if I am ever in the area again!

SOO GOOD!! No one does it better TRUST ME. Always super clean inside, has a small kids play area and very cozy. All the food tastes really really good, and staff are welcoming, kind, and friendly. You have to try this. You really do.

There were large groups of people lining outside but we put our name down on the iPad and got seated within 10 ish mins! Scoreee. This is your sign to be patient cause this Izakaya is so worth the wait! Price point for quality was chefs kiss. You don't really get fresh sushi like this anywhere with reasonable prices! Im taking 5 PCs of otoro sashimi for $25?! Speechless! We outdid ourselves and ordered like 3 rounds of sushi for the three of us and bill came out to $200 ish with drinks! Really easy to do since they had such an extensive menu with just about everything from appetizers, tapas sashimi, hand rolls, nigiri, fried items, sushi ROLLS, ramen/noodles, and skewers! Highlights were definitely the: -otoro (5 pcs ~$25) -salmon medley (salmon belly and 3 other cuts) -scallop nigiri -karaage (5 pcs for $8.99) *pro tip to add their house negi sauce $1 or spicy mayo $0.50 -agedashi tofu (fried tofu) -wagyu beef skewer $8.50 -citrus YTG roll ($15) so refreshing with hamachi (yellowtail), tempura flakes, and a house jalapeño ponzu sauce ! (Apologies for the lack of photos lol. We got too excited since the food kept coming out soo quick we couldn't keep up lol) We also ordered the uni and volcano roll! I might try for the Alaskan roll next time considering it was hard to identify the scallops in the baked roll but still kinda tasty if you're into the warm baked rolls! I was unfortunately really wanting to taste the scallops! Overall we had a great time! Service was nice and attentive! The drinks were really affordable and generous too! My brother in law ordered a chu hi and it came in this huge mug for $14 with an option of refill for ~$7! Such a deal! Arigatou, Hachi!

We haven't eaten here in a while and never in the summer. In the darker, cooler months this is a place that entertains a packed, loud, happy crowd. The food is really good, lots of choice, the service is equally on point. So, a great evening on our cold dark winters. We dropped in last week, so July. Same range of food, maybe fewer items but what we had was more than fine. The service was personable, helpful and the food was delicious. But way, way quieter - turns out Summer is their slow time, more like a neighborhood place and less like party central. We enjoy both, but the slower months allows more focus on the menu. And there might be something not to your taste but given the range you will find a dish that you will enjoy. So, pick your adventure, we like both and you will be happy with the food, the ambiance and the service either way.

This was easily the standout dish and the reason I would come back. Veggie Roll (5/5) Good portions with thick avocado and a solid mix of sesame, carrots, and cucumber. Fresh, clean flavors and very satisfying for a simple roll. Smoked Salmon (5/5) Good, thick pieces with nice smoky flavor. Fresh and well prepared. Overall, the food was consistent and high quality across everything we ordered. Service (4/5): Good overall, though it felt like there was only one hostess working during the rush hour. Because of that, things moved a bit slower than expected, but the staff was still polite and helpful. Ambiance (3/5): There are tables in the main dining area, bar seating, and more tables in the back. It works well for groups and families, but I would recommend making a reservation during busy hours. Parking is the biggest challenge. It is very tight and limited, especially when the restaurant is busy, which adds some stress before you even walk in. Great food and worth the visit, just plan ahead for parking and wait time.
