I have experienced plenty of professional massages but this could be the best I've ever had. The storefront is deceivingly simple compared to the world that awaits behind the door to the actual spa. The waiting room was elegant and soothing to sit in and after decompressing for a few minutes I was escorted to my room. The music was calming and just the right level, massage worked out things that I thought would take more than the 50 minutes allotted and there were hot towels at various points which were a big bonus. While in Waipoli wither you live here or just on vacation don't forget to take care of yourself with a little extra papering. read more

I recently visited the island of Kauai and was referred to Spa by the Sea from a local woman I had began chatting with across the street. Upon calling and inquiring about the salon and spa services they offered I found the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable on the type's services they offered. I also discovered with any service you get a pass to use the pool and gym amenities for the day, which was a wonderful treat for my family. I currently work in a spa in Arizona and am a bit fussy when it comes to getting treatments. I have been in the industry for 15 years now and have found myself a spa snob. I ended up booking their Island Cast away package which included an hour long full body massage, an hour long facial, and a wonderful hour long pedicure, totaling about $400. I checked into my appointment early so I had the time to use all the facilities they have to offer. I began my experience in the gym. I found it to be very nice with all the work out equipment like new. After my services I meet up with my family, they were thoroughly enjoying the water slide, Jacuzzis, and salt water lagoon pool. That was big a hit. We ordered lunch poolside from the Oasis's grill which was very tasty and convenient. We ended up staying at the resorts almost all day. I was very pleased to find they use Epicuren product's in all their services. I started my experience in the women's locker room which I found to be very relaxing, quiet and quaint. After a taking a hot steam shower, I got cozy in my robe, and retreated into the relaxation room. The spa attendant was waiting for me with a cup of organic chamomile tea and some fresh cold pineapple slices, which were delightful. My massage was absolutely wonderful! I was put in to such a state of relaxation and serenity. The choice of music playing was so soothing. And! The woman doing my massage had a beautiful soothing voice while she did my traditional Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian Ancient Healing Art of Massage) massage, which begins with a Hawaiian Chant. Amazing! I was literally blown away. I was given a few minutes to take some deep breaths between services and was then met by my Esthetician. My Esthetician was one of the most knowledgeable and helpful I have ever encountered. Really! I genuinely felt that she really cared for me and my skin. She took note of my main concerns of my skin and personalized the products to match my skin and treat it in an effective yet gentle way. So thankful. I took home a couple of Epicuren products with me because I loved the way my skin felt and looked when I was finished. The facial was not only effective, but it was so deeply relaxing and I was grateful for her guidance to my luxurious spa chair for my pedicure! My pedicure was probably the most creative and unique pedicure I've ever had. When it was finished, my nails looked like a piece of art. My nail technician was truly an artist. Not only was the polish applied neatly, but she managed to add intricate flowers and jewels all over my toenails. I didn't even know my toes were big enough for that! She did this so flawlessly and without any effort at all. I was definitely coming back to her whenever I could. Wow! That is a lot of information, but honestly I just feel so blown away by this spa experience and I felt so compelled to share! The front desk staff that checked me out was so very sweet, and I actually got to meet the owner Greg who made me feel like a VIP in his spa. Such a treat! My girlfriend and I booked this spa after extensive review of all the spas on Kauai. We have visited the Grand Wailea Spa on Maui and, frankly, nothing else compares. This spa at the Waipuoli resort looked interesting. I'm glad we gave it a try. The reception staff was very friendly and efficient. We were given a pass code to the resort pool area and spent about two house enjoying that before our spa services. When it was time we were shown to a very nice changing room with keyed lockers. Waiting for us in the lockers were robes and slippahs. When we were all cleaned up and ready our massage staff came to take us to our rooms. We both had the Waipuoli Package, mine with Lomi Lomi massage and my friend had a deep tissue massage. There was extra charge for deep tissue but we knew that in advance. Lomi Lomi is not a deep massage but it is soooo relaxing. We showered afterward and went to settle the bill. There was some confusion over extra charges that the cashier worked out for us. Then he showed us some moisturizing lotions and told us each to take one to make up for the confusion. Turns out he is the owner. What a nice guy and a savvy business owner. We walked away happy customers and will definitely be back. read more

My massage was good but for the price I paid for the treatment, it was also about what the experience was before and after the massage. Since I was staying at the resort, I did not need to use the pools so I wanted to be able to relax in the waiting room and then use the facility afterwards to shower. But my view while waiting for my massage was of the parking lot and afterwards, there was so much hustle in the restrooms that I just left - they were getting ready to leave for the day and were cleaning up. I respect trying to leave work but as a client they should have scheduled my appointment appropriately. Also the women's lockers are located right where people come in and out of the restrooms - not exactly private. BEWARE - the gratuity is included when they charge for the massage. GRATUITY is supposed to be given because it is deserved and earned, not required. For $196 this was the worst experience I have had and I would never recommend anyone to go here when I believe there are other choices in Kauai. read more

I did not feel comfortble or enjoy this massage. I got an 80 minute massage. First off, I should have requested a female since for me it is EXTREMELY uncomfortable to have a male do the massage but I went along with it since this place seemed nice. The guy seemed very nervous and not very welcoming just very matter of fact. Once I changed into my robe and went to the massage room, I noticed there was only a thin bed sheet on the table. I have never been to a place that didn't have a full blacket to cover you. I could not relax and felt so uncomfortable knowing you could see through the sheet. There was no music for the first 15 minutes which felt awkward and an eternity. The gentleman doing the massage came way to close to my "areas" and I kept tensing up. After the massage I quickly went to change and go pay. At the register I noticed a sign that stated they automatically charge 20% gratuity!! I was shocked and the total was $250!!I should be able to choose how much I tip. They get 20% when I was not satisfied? There were no amentities besides a quiet room or beverages besides water offered. I have been to cheaper places that have saunas/larger locker room etc. I don't think its fair to have such high prices when you have a small, basic spa. read more

5 stars is not enough. I set up a couples massage for my wife and I for her birthday. My wife loves a deep tissue massage and me not so much. I called in to make an appointment and spoke with Gregg the owner and told him what I was looking for and he set up the perfect day for us. When we arrived for our massage Gregg was there to meet and welcome us in. We were very impressed on how nice the spa was and it was absolutely spotless! After we got checked in we were brought out to a quite area where Gregg made us each a freshly squeezed juice that was awesome. We were set up with Taylor and Lauren for our spa treatments. Let me tell you they were both amazing! Taylor did the deep tissue for my wife and she absolutely loves it! Lauren applied just the perfect amount of pressure for me and I loved it. Both Taylor and Lauren were excellent! So do your self a favor if your looking for a great massage give Gregg a call and ask for Taylor or Lauren you will not be disappointed. Treated my sons girlfriend to eyebrow waxing. Took her in and handed over my credit card. I was told it would be $25. The cashier handed me back my card and the slip chirping, that is $31 (something) including tax and tip. I am perpetually irritated when a gratuity is automatically added. What if the service stinks? What if it is really good and I want to give more?( which is what I usually do) A gratuity is added AFTER a service is received. I next asked for the pool code and was told (contrary to the information on their brochures and website) that I needed to spend a minimum of $50 (does that include my mandatory tip?). I gave this... (must be kind)...woman my best mom look and said "you have got to be kidding?" To which she again chirped that they had changed the policy, blah, blah, blah...she would make an exception...blah, blah, blah! Let me begin by saying, what is wrong with these greedy people? The service is OK, but nothing to write home about...come on. There are far better options on Kauai. This place is overpriced even before the mandatory gratuity is added. What a wonderful spa! I had a great massage and facial but the best part was the friendly staff and owner. A real bonus is use of the pools at the resort to further relax after your treatment. I highly recommend Spa by the Sea! To start, the gift shop alone is filled with great finds that are worth stopping by to see. The staff and owner went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. We were invited in to change into a spa robe and provided with slippers. After getting cozy we relaxed in a tranquil waiting area. The therapists were lovely and all of the ladies, including myself, walked away feeling wonderful after our treatments. The therapist had a soothing voice and the products are all natural, smell, and feel fabulous. We made a day out of it and lounged by the pool at the resort, which was included at no additional cost. After doing lots of research on local Kauai day spa's we found that the other spa's did not include access to the resorts so this made it an even better find. They also offered great package deals that other places didn't offer. If you want to feel pampered and relaxed Spa by the Sea is the place to go. We stayed in Princeville but made the drive to this spa because of a recommendation we received. It was worth the drive (which was beautifully scenic). I did the mermaid package and I highly suggest it. The massage was amazing as was the wrap and scrub. The facial was the best facial I have ever had. My daughter had a facial as well and agreed that it was the best facial she has had. We will be back for sure next year! Mahalo. read more

I went to Spa by the Sea with my best friend on her birthday. We both had deep tissue massages and a body scrub which was awesome. The spa was extremely clean and well appointed. We both requested female massage therapists which was granted. The girl at the front desk, Bianca was very attentive and pointed us in the right direction and we were very happy with out treatments. I stopped in again not to far after and received an amazing facial as well as a hot oil hair treatment. Hillary gave me one of the best facials i have ever had and my hair felt great for weeks! read more
