I've heard great things about spa castle and as i've never really gone to a spa place before, i was super excited to go. Came here with my boyfriend on a Wed in the Summer (which turned out to be a big mistake in the summer on ANY day..) because there were so many kids and people that it was hard to relax. The different array of heated rooms were very relaxing and a great place to get away from the abundance of kids. The outdoor pools and variety of jet streams were nice and relaxing, but while some were not that powerful, others were just downright dangerous. The place isn't as big as it is described on the website- what i mean to say is that the pools were not as abundant as i had originally thought with 5 floors. The separated gender locker rooms had nude pools and steam rooms for those that were interested in that. There were also shower areas and uniforms to wear when walking from floor to floor. Watches were given that activated a shoe locker and a bigger locker and were also used to purchase food, drinks etc which could be paid for upon exiting. TIP: BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS - there is a fee if you want to get one from them. I don't mean to separate myself like this, but i think that many Americans find this place to be a wonderful haven and a great deal for what it offers. i don't disagree, but you have to be careful what day you go to avoid the rush of people and the surprising amount of kids. when i think of spa, i think of relaxation, not a bunch of screaming running kids at the local pool. Went yesterday and was a little disappointed. There was 4 of us. Went to the buffet and I understand they charge so much for a lb of food but they charged for the plate which was the biggest and heaviest plate I spent $36 for a few shrimp/ salad and fruit. Our entire bill for food came to $156. Way to much. When u weigh the food adjust the scale for the plate. Also in one of the saunas there was a couple just shy of having sex. Great news, Spa Castle is back and open, highly recommend if you would like to be insulted, sexually harassed with creepy looks by 5 young uneducated, ignorant, insulting guys. They were walking around this small pool upstairs and treating ALL customers as they would be from the hood. Blowing whistle, screaming at customers for diving their head under the water, insulting men with chess hair(NEW policy, no hair bellow shoulders), counting seconds for how long you are using hot tub. On top of that, MANAGER explained to us that "you are no one" at Spa Castle, if you don't like our new policy then leave right now. (Even though NON of these policy changes are presented at the entrance of the spa.) We were going there for the last 3 years, and this was THE last time !! Lockers are still broken, and when its locked, you just have to push them up more and it will open without the key. Almost all saunas are broken, starting with sharp corners and ending up with lights not working. Finally, if you still had good time after all that, Good news!! There will be one more Guard who will be checking you out at the changing room and shower, that you wouldn't use too much water or simply to make you his attraction. Honestly was NOT worth the money. Spent almost 300$ on a couples massage on Groupon, For what!! It was a special day for my wife and I. We hired a babysitter for our own child and when we got there we were dealin with other people's kids. Taking up space in the pools, sauna and acting reckless splashing, talking loudly and playing around.... nothing about that is relaxing. I have no idea what I paid for?! No 50 min massage was worth that. There was no steam room and half the Jets in the pool upstairs didn't work , if there wasn't kids taking up the area. I had checked the website earlier that day and there was no mention of it. Yes, I suppose I should have called first, but I don't generally call to see if a place is open when it's advertised that they are open every damn day of the year! Except one?! A random Wednesday?! We get all the way out there and of course although they made it seem simple to catch their "free shuttle," we had no idea where the hell it was in relation to the subway, so I called. This place is insane. It's a three story wonderland for the lazy and wanting to be pampered. I got my first scrub and massage (sans clothing) - Korean style! First, you have to make an appt and they make you shower and go into the hot tub for 30 minutes so that your skin is scrub-ready. Then they scrub you this way and that way - basically everywhere. It felt weird, but they were accomodating since it was my first time. One thing I didn't like was that the scrub and massage ($90 for 80 minutes advertised on the web) was actually $95 for 70 minutes but that's fine - it was still worth it. The second floor has food (the sushi is NOT good), eating area, lounging area with TVs and hot/cold sauna with themes in eskimo igloos. They have a jade, gold, sunray, ice, and other themes. Some of them are 195 degrees! I felt like the cave might collapse on me and I'd die of heat so I only lasted like 5 min. The top floor has a hinoki (some 200-year old wood that's good for your skin) pool and warm spa pool with massage jets. You need to bring a swimming suit and beach towel for the third floor. The entrance fee is $35 (separate from any services). The lockers are pretty slick and they give you a plastic watch with your locker number and it opens up the locker by scanning the face of it up to the lock. You also charge everything by scanning the little watch. This includes any services, food or drink. I look the metro 7 to Flushing, Main Street, and then walked up to Union and 39th to the Flushing Municipal Parking Lot in front of Woori (our) bank. The shuttle picked us up and it took about 15 minutes to get to Spa Castle. And the shuttle is free! Be careful though, it leaves promptly at every 10 and 40 of the hour b/c people pile in and the driver waits until the clock turns 2:10, 3:10, etc. and then leaves. So if you come one minute late, you have to wait 29 minutes. I highly recommend this to any and all first-time scrubbers. I would definitely come again. read more

What a sanctuary! Went there on two different occasions last year: afterwork in the morning with the girls and in the afternoon for bf's b-day. Both times I enjoyed being there. It's better and quicker to take the chinese buses (right on Canal street and Boerum) than taking the 7 line to the last stop in Flushing. Locating the spa castle shuttle buses can be confusing at first. Good thing there's always a small group of people waiting. Disclaimer: I'm not a full spa girl so just being in a place where you can relax and enjoy pool/jacuzzi was ideal for me. I liked the whole concept and design of the place, from the wristbands and uniforms we are made to wear, to the seperate floor for genders, and the unisex floor on top. I tend to prefer the indoor jacuzzi's and sauna better than the outside pool. Food is overall pricey. Dishes at the chinese restaurant (particularly fried beef) were excellent . I was here Labor Day weekend on a Saturday. We went early so it wasnt too bad. We got there around 8am and left about 4p. As we were leaving, there was a huge line to get to the front desk to pay and enter. Literally it was down the block. Are u serious?? Anyways, paying $50 is not worth it. Why pay that much money when you go to the pool and the equipment arent working? You're there to relax but you're stressed cuz you're trying to find a working station in the pool and most aren't working. From what ive read there's a living social deal going on and its HOLIDAY WEEKEND ... The majority, if not all, equipment should be working. Ill tell you exactly what wasnt working. 1. It's basically like a public pool on a weekend. Why are kids allowed into the spa? It is not relaxing to have kids around. I suggest go during the week, its much more like a spa on a weekday. 2. Me and my girlfriend decide to take a day off during the week so that we may have a day of relaxation and rest. It was unfortunate that this wasn't the case. After being there no more than an hour we were sitting inside the second pool on the top floor. My girlfriend raises her foot out of the water to find that a piece of glass is sticking out of her foot! We immediately got out of the water and looked for a manager. We walked downstairs to the second floor which we found a nice lady who worked there and informed her of the situation. She quickly contacted the manager whose name was John. We told him what happened and he apologized on the facility's behalf. He took down our information and stated that he will give us free tickets to come another day. He also got the life guard to come over and help my girlfriend with the cut on her foot. The guard was a nice young man and assisted my girlfriend by giving her ointment and a bandage. It's disappointing that we had this experience since we had to take the day off and were having such a good time until this occurred. There should have never been glass in the pool in the first place. The only reason I would return is just to use the vouchers that were giving to us which don't expire till next year. But I will have to give it a deep thought in if I would really want to pay another fee to come here again on my own free will. read more

I cut my foot very badly in one of their pools on a loose tile or sharp object left in the water. Blood was gushing into the water and they still didn't clear the pool of bathers. I was hobbling for a week and in bandages for two weeks, not allowed to enjoy my summer vacation. Had to take antibiotics and have a tetanus​ shot. Was offered free tickets to return to their poorly maintained facility but no compensation as it was an 'accident'. The salad bar has no salad, the saunas all have missing crystals where people have stolen them and the facility is run down. So I went to spa castle yesterday and had bought Groupon tickets but when we got there they said you can't use them, 24 hours have to pass until you can use it. So me and my family had to pay full price which is just stupid, it apparently said it somewhere in fine print on the groupon. Aside from that the spa is completely falling apart, so many broken things inside all the pools, there are literally nails sticking out of thee pool walls, and crumbling walls. Aside from that the changing area was dirty,cleaning ladies were rude and they only give you a tiny, tiny towel to dry yourself. Very cheap and not luxurious place at all. I really did enjoy my first time being there but I have to say the expose wires by the pool and In the sauna that was the temp off 153 were a complete turn off for me. I'm not sure if there was electricity running through them but still that is an issue for me. The cleaning of the railings by the water need to be addressed cause that is unhealthy for anyone especially children and the elderly as well. From all the reviews I've read, I knew Spa Castle would be super crowded during the weekend, so I decided to pamper myself and came here on a Monday instead. It was perfect, Spa Castle was not crowded at all. Even though, there was a decent amount of people, I didn't feel like I had to fight for a space just to unwind. As far as boredom goes, I felt none of that. Instead, I got to try out a lot of their sauna that had different temperature and even took a nap in the nap room. Lastly, their women only area was great. We got to wear out birthday suit and just chilled downstairs. In my book, that's pretty cool! read more

This is a nice getaway to relax and get away from the city. Came here for a friend's birthday and we had a good time. $50 admission includes your own locker, clothes, towels, and access to the facility. You can use the pools, jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, relaxation rooms, and fitness center. Massages, facials, and food and drink are extra charges. The place is pretty clean and the staff does a good job up-keeping it. There are different temperature jacuzzis and hot tubs in the men's and women's locker room. There are also showers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The saunas are also great. They have about 9 different sauna rooms including a salt room, a cold room, and an infrared room. The pool area is really crowded on weekends and looks somewhat like a cesspool so I would avoid it. You can order food and drink from the cafes and it will automatically be registered to your account and you will be charged at checkout. It's expensive but they make fresh juices and smoothies that taste good! read more

TLDR: Disgusting and dishonest customer service, questionable cleanliness, predatory men, and subpar food. Decent massages. Just go to king spa instead. So I really really really wanted to like this place as I am really into spas and bath houses. But from the start, it is clear to me that the staff is not dedicated to keeping their clientele. First off: DO NOT BUY A GROUPON! I will repeat. DO NOT BUY A GROUPON. They will just charge you a fee when you get there for using the groupon and it comes out to not saving you any money. Also they told us that they were booked so we had to cancel the groupon. But when we got there it turned out they had availability. ..wait what?! It was so dishonest. We spoke to management and after arguing with them for 20 minutes they said we could eat at the food court. Which was closed when we got there. 2 and a half hours before closing. Groupon has since refunded our purchase because they are not allowed to charge a "fee". So that's out of the way, let's talk about the amenities Cleanliness - overall, eh. it was reasonably clean, but discarded towels were left everywhere and nobody was picking them up. The floors were wet all over the place and nobody was keeping them mopped. Amazing someone didn't slip. Towels were not provided when you exit the wet area which means people were dripping all over the floors Atmosphere - the men's side is a bit seedy and that ruined the experience. OK. A little cruising is fine. What isn't ok is men walking around with playing with erections in front of kids. And even worse is men just straight up jerking each other off in the steam room. Services - the massages we got were not bad and I'm very picky, being a massage therapist my self. My massage was fantastic, my friends reported theirs to be decent as well but too short and we weren't given the option to extend them. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one is the fact that the facilities were nice looking and there was a good range of temperature options and the massages were good. Be careful when choosing the couple packages, NOT all include admission. I called the day before and I was not informed correctly. Not only did we need to pay for admission on top of the $320 couple massage but only the pool was available. On top of that the pricing was the same for reduced amenities. They do not provide towels, bathing suits, robes or snacks/drinks. The following is closed: gym, restaurant, etc. The most concerning aspect is that guests were not wearing masks despite staff asking them to wear one. The front desk clerks were rude, unprofessional and spent more time on their phones than helping people that were waiting in line. Be prepared to pay for admission even if you only come for a service; They didn't tell us that even after we went in person. Came here with the expectation that the facility was going to be very seedy due to other reviews. However I was surprised on how nice and relaxing the facility is. The facility has 4 floors; First floor: main entrance and men and women locker rooms, where there is several same sex only saunas and hot tubs. The hot tub area also includes showers, chilled tub, a cold bath, hot sauna and a wet sauna (steam room). Be warned that the hot tub area is nude, so if you are not comfortable with nudity of the same sex stay clear of this area. A smaller version of the loess clay sauna is also located in the locker rooms, but in this one you have to wear your uniform. Second floor: lounge area where the sauna valley is located. There is also a salad bar buffet, cafe and shop, where you can purchase at your leisure. Full body massage room is also located here. Mezzanine: A sleeping room where the Temperature is slightly colder than the rest of the facility and the foot massage room. Third floor: Indoors there is swim up bar, and a lounge area with a smaller hydrotherapy lounge pool. Outdoor on the terrace is the outdoor hydrotherapy pool area. The pool is divided in 2 and in the middle is a sauna where you can dry off. There are also other hot tubs, the kiddie splash pool area and a waterfall corridor. The kiddie pool area and waterfall area were closed when I was there. I believe it was due to the cold season. Fourth floor: there is a balcony, a restaurant, small fitness room and a private room for events. The hydrotherapy pools are what set this place apart from other spas in the area. Unfortunately many of the buttons of the jets of the hydrotherapy pools were broken. Also be prepared to spend over 10$ on basic food fare like chicken tenders and fries. read more

A great many weeks have passed and the non-existent "manager" who is more concerned about his fashion statement earrings has not contacted me regarding the series of machines that were not working. A complete SECTION. I am one to glowingly positive reviews left and right. I thrive on the good vibes. With that said, I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a business in my entire life. This joke of a place knows nothing about public relations or common sense. So many idiotic rules. One rule should simply be NO CELL PHONES in the rest areas. I do not need to hear senseless and stressful conversations while I try to disconnect. Stop showing off on your phones telling your friends how good you think you have it while others are working five part time jobs or - worse yet- furloughed. I had a come to jesus moment at spa castle a few weeks ago. This place is insane. Not only was my skin soft as butter when I left, I got to SWIM IN THE WINTER! What? You pay the fee, get a wristband and charge everything to that little piece of jewelry. The only advice I can give you is don't lose that wristband! It holds everything. I've been here twice and haven't been wowed either time. Security checks your bag as you enter to make sure you aren't bringing in anything you're not supposed to, like bottled water because they want you to buy everything in there. You get the uniform and towel. You have to buy slippers if you don't want to walk around barefoot. There are children running around all over the place. They just don't stay in the kiddie pool, they are even in the hot tubs and there will be a baby floating in a tube. The place is huge. The saunas are a great size because many people can fit in them. There are two big pools with different jets and a hot tub. It gets crowded at times so you do have to strategize when to get into the pool. Different foods choices, all pricey. Went for the 2 1/2 hour 329$ spa package. Body scrub, facial and massage. Front desk girl was super nice and helpful. There was a bit of an issue when I arrived because of payment, someone else bought the package for me but it worked out fine. The girl was patient. (Arrive at least 30 minutes early) Two different women did the treatments on me and it was AMAZING! Ive heard this place is dirty, maybe the pools and stuff I really don't know but the massage package was everything !! Super good and I would recommend. I had a bad experience at spa castle, I would not recommend coming to this location. The Manger Agem didn't care to listen at all about the feed back. Who ever decides to come should definitely eat before hand. The food was terrible, and undercooked. The calamari stinks and taste old (they don't even have marinara or tartar sauce for it) also the chicken fingers was very hard and had no seasoning. If you go in a group, get the shaved ice. It's great for 3 people to share. Try to go early or late enough to avoid the kids and teens. I had heard a lot about this place but never had stepped foot in. I was looking for a good place to throw a small bridal event and this was suggested by many since we can all hang out as a group at the same time versus a usual spa would allow 2-3 people to be worked on at a time. I'd have to admit we had a great time here even though it was sooooo cold (we went between fall and winter on one of the colder days!) so we hid out in many of the outdoor heated pools and jacuzzis. There was 4 floors of fun and relaxation but admission was $45 a person for all day. If you're hungry or thirsty there are both available (not the best prices but if you are hungry then you'd have to order). There are some private massages for additional charges. Otherwise, you can enjoy the different types of saunas, pools, jacuzzis, etc. read more

This was my second time to Spa Castle, first time was a summer Sunday afternoon that was filled with screaming kids running around that I didn't really want to go through again. This time I came because I had discount coupons on a Friday night so I thought would give it another chance being a week night. Over all the facilities is pretty good, everything was working as expected. It was bit more crowded than I like and it wasn't until after 9ish that I start feeling like I was getting the relaxing spa experience. So for those that never been to a Korean spa its divided into dry and wet areas, where you would shower and bath first before going into the wet area pools and sauna then afterwards would visit dry area wearing uniform they provide. Inside the dry area there are the hot sauna hots which each one has its own theme which is very interesting. I especially like the LED room as you have the option of changing the background color. I suppose some of the novelty worn off on my second visit that I felt that compare to Spa King over here in NJ Spa Castle didn't really have much more to offer to warrant the higher admission price. The outdoor area is definitely a plus if its not too crowded and rowdy but I find that unlikely now since even at 10pm it was still pretty busy and noisy. Plus they're not open 24 hours. The outdoor pools closes at 11 but when I was there they were already getting people out by 10:45. Even the wet area were shutting down by 11:30. So I guess when they meant they close at midnight they really meant everyone would be out of the building by 12AM. If I were to come again would definitely have to be an earlier morning to take better advantage of the services. The food price is about the same as restaurant prices and portion is generous. However I find quality pretty mediocre. Given the crowds and distance I would be unlikely return again as I do feel Spa King is a better alternative. Given the weekend price is now $50 if you were going during busy hours I would give this place two stars to be honest. read more

I visited this spa today and needless to say l will not be returning. Here are the reasons: Upon entry l requested to purchase slippers, the attendant had a nasty disposition and stated the slippers only came in one size. I asked to see the bottom and each pair had a different size when l pointed her error out she walked away. I paid for a 30 min foot massage to begin at 3:30pm. Initially there was a woman who didn't seemed like she had ever given a foot massage before. Her touch was abrasive and uncomfortable.l requested someone else. The second masseuse ended my treatment at 3:54pm and on my way out asked if l could scan my watch again. I asked why, and the reply was for a tip. I stated you did not earn a tip and the employee scoffed and walked away. The food is overpriced, many areas were unclean, and it is overran with noisy people. The sleep area on the 2nd level has rips in most of the chairs. read more

Very dissappointed! We went last week as a group of 5 for my birthday. We prob spent about $800 between the group of us. My boyfriend accidentally left a pair of boots in his shoe locker and we called back the next afternoon, not even a day later, and the staff claims they were not there. I asked to speak with a manager and someone took my name but I never received a callback from a manager. When I initially called they asked what the locker number was and took my info then called back to say that they werent in the locker. When I called back a bit later and asked to speak to a manager I asked about their policy and the person on the phone said they throw everything left in lockers away at night. If that were the case why did they even bother to go look? In order to get a locker, you have to pay admission and show an ID. These shoes were not "lost". They were left in a locker attached to a name and a credit card and they take your picture when you arrive All this but they dont even have the decency to hold things for 24 or 48 hours? I call BS. For a company who is in the business of renting lockers your policy of throwing everything away is not only a completely garbage policy but it may not be legal either. It's been 6 days and I have never received a callback from a manager so now I will be filing a claim with the Better Bussiness Bureau because this is not how you treat guests. I've worked in hospitality for over 20 years and when people leave things of value behind YOU HOLD ONTO THEM! Otherwise your bussiness looks shady and people will speculate that your staff has stolen their items. In addition to having a very nice pair of shoes STOLEN, there were other things that happened that should be mentioned that were negative. First, at least a quarter of the jets in the outside hot tub were broken. Second, even though their website prohibts the use of cell phones there were almost always people on their phones inside the dry saunas (some of which were playing loud music) and in the 5 hours we never saw a single staff member check in to make sure people were following the rules. Next, be sure to watch out for the hidden "tips" they add to your card at checkout. You are able to tip when you order drinks at the bar. Your facility is not nice enough to be asking for tips for the cleaning staff. Last, what you may read in other reviews about the activity in the wet sauna in the mens locker room is completely true. We were there from about 3pm-8pm and both of the guys in our party walked into the wet sauna in the mens locker room to find groups of men masturbating and performing oral sex completely in the open. When they walked in the activity stopped breifly for a moment but upon realizing they were not staff members the activity started back up within about 10 seconds. Children are allowed at this facility by the way. Spa Castle is nasty. The staff is not on top of things and there may even be large scale theft going on daily. If your policy is to just throw everything in the lockers away at night no believes that your staff isn't just having a free for all. Prove me wrong by making it right. read more

This place has totally gone down hill both in management and appearance. Years ago it was a nice, clean, relaxing place and now it's run by management that really do not care. I had a coupon they would not honor even though it had no expiration date on it (they said they had never seen it even though it had the Spa Castle logo on it.) A lot of the jets in the tubs don't work. Some of the tiles are broken off leaving sharp edges. And one pool was overflowing with soap. It's really too bad, but I won't be coming back there. read more

Staff needs retraining, especially in the aquatic areas and locker room. They randomly run in and stare at your junk, throw people out for holding hands and being friendly meanwhile the floor is slippery and bathrooms dirty, something the attendants should be on top of. Plainclothes Asian men (assuming mgmt) will walk into the aqua areas with all their clothes and street shoes on like they own the place also do the rando run in to stare at ur sausage. Why have a locker room attendant that just babysits the steam room? Attend to your cleaning duties. read more

I know of the bad rep and read all the bad reviews most of which are complaints about guests and groupons. I steered clear of the weekend shenanigans and went this monday from 9am-1pm or what i call non ratchet times. -facility is very clean. the locker rooms, bathroom, sauna, hot tubs, pools were spotless and it was only $30 to enter before 10am . front desk staff are friendly. staff in locker room are also friendly. - salad bar is excellent, i dont eat meat so this was a plus -swim up bar is cool but you have to exit the pool to grab your drinks. the bartender diona was very attentive and friendly. - if you want to enjoy this place before the thots come then you have to go on a weekday morning! dont go after 5 or a weekend it'll be packed, kids, ratchet. cons- napping room beds are worn out and room is cold went to grab my clothes that i was drying in the outdoor sauna and found a couple fucking on the floor behind the hot stones. how classy eh? i dont blame spa castle for this because they have no control over the classless savages that enter the place but an easy fix is to have more cameras around (ill give up my privacy) or hire one security guard to discretley "check on things" -also there should be two rules -whisper only and no cell phones seeing people take selfie videos the entire time they are there is just annoying AF check #spacastle on instagram and you'll see what i mean. i may come back on a monday again read more
