Very friendly staff, I love the heated bench in the meditation area. It was my first time having a facial so I can't rate how good or bad it was however my face looked and felt great for months afterward and I got some wonderful advice on how to improve my skin-care routine. Spa Lale is a wonderful place to escape. I've gotten a massage, a facial, and spray tans here and every treatment was a great experience. The staff are wonderful and always very attentive. I usually arrive about 30 minutes early for my treatments so i can put on a robe and enjoy some of the spa's perks: tea, light snacks, the dry sauna, the jacuzzi, and the AMAZING meditation room. The heated steps/seats in the meditation room make waiting a wonderful part of the spa experience. The smell is great and really makes you feel relaxed. They provide you with a private locker, a robe, and slippers for the duration of your spa treatment. And once you are done, they invite you to stay as long as you'd like. Their locker room facilities are fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, face wash, lotion, hair spray, blow dryer, curling iron,...the list goes on. read more

I surprised my daughter with a "Mom and Me" spa treatment last July 19. Well the surprise was on both of us...We felt like royalties! Having vacationed in 18 counties and 15 States, I can confidently state that Spa Lale has 5-star quality in service, atmosphere, and beauty products. Everyone was friendly and professional. We even had complimentary Champagne and mimosa plus I ordered food from Scott's Seafood and it was sent to us! We lounged and grazed in their back area with access to the pool and jacuzzi. "You pay now" is what keeps playing over and over in my mind regarding the check-in experience at Spa Lale. Let me start by saying that I have been coming to this spa for years, at least 6, after the experience I had yesterday, that was my last. Upon checking in and providing my name, I was informed by the receptionist that I need to pay in advance for my services, now the services I was due to receive was over $200, who's to say that the services I would have been receiving was actually what I was getting? and satisfied with, at that? And on top of all that, she had the nerve to tell me that I could also include my tip in advance, as well... WTH? What if the services I received were horrible, would I have been refunded for the tip I paid in advance??? I have NEVER been to a Day Spa in which I was asked to pay up front for services, well maybe a "Corner Nail Shop" posing as a "Spa", but this wasn't the experience I was going for on this day, I was looking for total serenity and relaxation and them asking for payment in advance squashed that, that was all I could think about the entire time. That was my check-in experience... Once I was taken to the dressing room, the receptionist asked if I would like some water, or hot tea, I chose, water. The dressing/locker room was nice, could use a little "Martha Stewart" updating, but overall it served its purpose; included two water closets, a shower, multitude of lockers and had basic toiletries. Once I was undressed and came from the dressing room, the receptionist handed me a Dixie cup of water, I almost started laughing but realized she was seriously handing me the water I requested... in a Dixie cup! As a suggestion, clear plastic cups would be acceptable, while paying in excess of $200 for services, that shouldn't be too much to ask for, am I right? The "meditation" room they take you to while you wait for your service, needs to be totally redone in order to provide clients with "real" area to meditate, relax and prepare for their services in. Since coming to this spa for the past 6 years, this room has remained the same (maybe a couple pieces of furniture was changed out and moved around). The linens used in the lounge area were not clean to my standards, how often are the linens (pillows, sheeting, curtains, etc.) washed and changed out? They boast having a snack bar but I was never offered a snack, I meandered over to the hallway where I noticed the water and Dixie cups and found some Costco pub mix and some PB pretzels, also a bowl of "weathered" (whole) apples and oranges (no knives to cut the fruit, or plates to put them on), I helped myself to more water and some PB pretzels, Spa Lale does NOT have a Snack Bar as stated in their "Our Story" bio on their website. As far as the patio (a.k.a. outdoor retreat), I noticed that there was some newer furniture out on the patio, this was a plus, as in the past, when coming with quite a few friends, there wasn't sufficient seating for us all. On to the services I received... The deep tissue massage I received, was the best I've ever had, my masseuse (Kelsey), in my opinion, belongs at a high end spa, the services she provided were more on par for a higher end facility. The room in which I received my massage, looked to be for that of couples receiving a massage together, there were two beds in the one room I received my services. It would have been nice if the room was set up for relaxation (visually, aromatically, etc.), it had the feel of a medical treatment office. After my massage, I was returned to the "Meditation" room (oh yeah after I was handed another Dixie cup of water) to wait for my next service. The next service I received was the "Spring Refresher Facial", now upon me calling to book my services, I noticed this facial was advertised as a promotion valid 4/1/17-5/31/17, the date I actually called to book my appointment was on June 20, 2017, at the time the receptionist had told me the special was no longer valid, I explained to her that this was still up on the website, therefore, it should be honored, she advised me that she would have to contact the Owner/Manager to see if she would honor the advertised special, which had already expired. Needless to say, the promotion was honored and I received the Spring Refresher Facial (it is still advertised on their website to date!). The facial I received was great as well, the Esthetician that did my facial was good too. Overall, I am completely satisfied with the SERVICES (only) I received from my two therapists, however, I am NOT satisfied with this spa facility, I believe it is sub-par, especially to be inside of an SPG property like the Westin, which is riverfront and located in a great area close to Downtown Sacramento. With all of the recent changes to our Sacramento area, we need a "real" Spa facility, we shouldn't have to go to Folsom, Arden Hills, or Roseville (or even the local casinos) for this type of high end Spa experience. read more

After a luxurious stay at Le Rivage Hotel, we came to LaLe expecting a great spa experience... At least they tried? The good: friendly staff but could be alittle more professional; that's ok since it comes with practice, access to hotel pool with several chairs to lay out in, quiet/meditation room with heated stone sitting/lying area was a nice touch. This room accesses the outdoor jacuzzi (very tiny, can fit probably 3 people at most), and an outdoor sauna box (same, small fits 2 at most). Complimentary treats are offered, which is a bonus. Mostly packaged things though like nature valley granola bars, nutrigrain, famous amos cookies, apples, etc. And they dont charge extra to have 2 massages in the same room. The bad: This spa itself is not very big. Feels like it was not originally meant to be a spa, but they just converted into one. The "locker room" is tiny: only one shower (which did have a cool rain showerhead), 2 toilets, 2 sinks, barely anywhere to sit. When there was more than 2 of us in there it felt crowded. The quiet/meditation room is cool, just small. I think my bedroom is bigger than that room. And besides the cushions on the heated stone section, the chairs weren't that comfortable. The above could be forgiven if we had great massages, but that did not happen. My massage ranks up (or down?) there with one of the suckiest i've received in my life. I had a swedish, and it felt like the masseuse was just rubbing lotion back and forth on my body. It was like her hands weren't strong enough? Either that or pressure wasnt applied in the correct places. Did not change much when I asked for increased pressure. My friend got the deep tissue with similar compliants. Exercise room access was not included, but they allowed us to use it when we asked. Overall, did not feel like a real spa where you are free and comfortable to go wherever. Just mainly restricted to the 2 small rooms and the outside. Masseuses need more training. Good effort I guess; likely will not be returning. read more

Don't bother to waste your time and money here. Unprofessional owner and therapists and most staff are not that skilled. Friends who have come here with me felt uncomfortable by the attitudes in here, Roxy is the worst. Carolyn was even ruder but at least she got the ax apparently. The place has gone downhill since the owner is never around. The changing room is not cleaned like it used to be, broken shower heads, and products are always empty, no soap in in the shower on a regular basis. The whirlpool spa is always really dirty lately and its a shame because it used to be a great space when I came to town. I agree with the other reviewer that it is tacky to have clients pay for services first and even tackier to ask for a tip as they sometimes do. Overpriced for most services and the Westin should provide a much better product and services for weary travelers who expect much better treatment for the cost. read more

I want to give this place more than two stars because I mean come on its a spa at THE WESTIN, it comes with a air of prestige, alas I cannot. I will start with the fact that I did enjoy my time here. Yes the spa is little, but they make do with what they have and create a luxury from that. I am a massage therapist that comes from the Napa Valley and yes you can have crazy upscale places that have huge locker rooms and ample showers and bathrooms, but Spa LaLe while small, is still nice. I'm always one to take everything I can from my spa experiences. Like I said I had a good time, the front desk gals where pleasant, explained everything perfectly for me to understand. I was so ready for this massage. It was my birthday weekend, my boyfriend had set it up for me, booking it at the Westin because he knew it would be an excellent massage after reading about the massage, and also it's The Westin, right! He booked me an 80 min LaLe Wellness Massage because he said they would tailor my massage to what I needed using all types of techniques needed. Sounded fantastic to me as I greatly needed a massage and I suffer from chronic tension headaches as well as work out and never stretch enough (don't tell my trainer!). After a quick dip in the hot tub to warm up my muscles and a few snacks, Rachel picked my up for my massage, yay! I was ready. She asked me about my troubles, I told her about the chronic headaches so there was always upper back in to neck and shoulder tension that could use work as well as my legs and hips because I used them a lot as they are my strongest part of me and as I said earlier, I am horrible at stretching. She said ok and instructed me in all the proper ways (as I expected) to get on the table and where to leave my robe and things. So I'm going to jump into things about the massage, because this is why there are only two stars. This is why my experience here was just ok and not fantastic. Not once did Rachel in the whole 80 minutes ask about pressure. To me as a fellow massage therapist, that is a huge no-no. After my massage it made me wonder about if she is trained properly and that someone should probably know that she didn't ask because like I said, as a massage therapist regardless of what you've talked about, what you are feeling as you are getting started working, you always ALWAYS check in about pressure and open the door to letting them know to speak up about changing the pressure at any time. That's just how it is in my book and if you aren't doing that, then you weren't taught properly and someone is doing you a disservice. The second big no-no for me was she was wearing a long necklace that would drag across my body during my massage. While her management may not specifically have standards of jewelry, I do find it very unprofessional to have things that drag across the guests body that is not a part of the massage. While it was not a huge annoyance to me, I do note it because there is someone that it will absolutely distract them from, and also sets a tone for the massage that again is just not professional for a spa that is associated with the Westin. There were other little things that good training and awareness can correct. The way she just quickly pulled the towel off my back after the last hot stone was off was startling. The way I was shaken just a little too much when it was time to turn over that if I had been asleep would have been incredibly startling. Having my robe thrown/or dropped across my legs rather than gently placed there again was abrupt. These are all little attention to detail things that I honestly expected a spa associated with The Westin to pay attention to. What is so hard about writing a bad review, this bad review, is that Rachel's potential is there! The intuition was there, the flow was good, but after coming home and reading through the spa menu and the description of the massage (which is their highest priced massage) I was astonished that I didn't receive more variety and technique especially with an 80 minute massage. It made me wonder that maybe she just needed a little more training because like I said the potential was there. I decided to read the "Our Story" on Spa LaLe that is also on their website and that was the deciding factor to writing this review. One of the lines says "Our service providers are here to listen to your needs and offer you a result oriented treatment." My treatment was not result oriented. The fact that she didn't ask about pressure at all makes me feel like she was not invested in finding out how I was feeling or doing. I walked away with all of my knots still intact. Then the kicker that "Our team is hand-picked and trained by our executive spa director..." I was stunned and surprised. How could I walk away that dissatisfied with my massage when your mission statement is "...to provide your guests with our utmost attention by creating custom services to the guests' needs". Posted hours of operation on yelp and also there front door says they open at 9:00 AM on Sunday. I get here at 9:32 and the door is locked. Someone walks up and knocks on the glass and a women comes from the back. She let's the lady in who knocked on the glass then looks at me weird and ask can I help you..."um yeah I want to get a gift certificate for my wife" she proceeds to tell me that they changed there hours and I have to come back after 10:00 AM. REALLY!? Maybe you should open at 9 or actually change the posted time on your front door and Yelp. I don't care how high you people stick your noses in the air or how snobby you are, your shit still stinks. If today wasn't my only day off this week and other spas were open I would of spent my money else where. At least they have the correct times posted and don't treat customers horrible when they try to spend their money with them. Needless to say this will be my last time spending it here. read more

I have been to about a half dozen different spas in the Sacramento area but this one beats them all. The atmosphere is beautiful, very cozy. My boyfriend and I received a couples massage and it was excellent. Splurge just a little extra for the LaLe Special Blend massage - the hot towels are worth it. The facilities were very nice and clean, and the shower I took after my massage was very pleasant, although the water could have been a touch warmer. Also, the hotel itself is hard to find so make sure you leave early if it's your first time there. But the spa paid for valet parking which was a huge plus. Everyone was very nice to us from the moment we arrived. I certainly recommend this spa above all others in the Sacramento region and will be going back again soon. read more

I come here for a couples massage a couple times a year we really enjoy it the place is clean and decorated nicely and of course they are very friendly and professional. I am so used to their level of professionalism that when we got a massage from another spa while on vacation I was very unnerved by those therapists techniques, long story short we felt more violated than relaxed. That never happens here, we leave here feeling totally relaxed and blissful. After our massage we usually zen out in the meditation room and then in the salt water hot tub, then we take a shower. Had such a great experience here I had to write a review! Came in for a ultrasound dermabrasion and was very impressed with the results. Left my skin feeling smooth and glowing. My esthetician's name was Sarah and she was wonderful! Very professional and knowledgeable, made some great recommendation on how to treat my acne. I could tell she really wanted to help my skin and loved what she does which is refreshing to see. I rebooked for this weekend after Sarah recommended I do a series of ultrasound dermabrasions for my acne and scarring. Can't wait to see the end result! read more

On the positive side, I got a really nice and deeply relaxing massage. I enjoyed the snack bar, Jacuzzi, and sparkling wine. On the negative side, I was very disappointed because in the pictures it looked like there were heated stairs in the meditation room to lie down and relax, but in reality there were just a few chairs in there and it felt more like a waiting room than a meditation lounge. It was not only that there were no stairs (as suggested by the online pictures), but there was indeed no possibility to lie down at all, which is kind of a bummer if you are trying to relax for a day. In addition, I was told upon arrival that the sauna is off and might not be switched on because it was raining. I had asked in advance which amenities were available and nobody ever told me that it was an option for the sauna to be not operational. All in all I liked it, but the online advertisement of the place does not match reality. read more

My girlfriend & I walked in because she wanted to inquire about facials for herself. Roxy (I'm pretty sure that was her name) welcomed us with a genuinely warm and friendly smile and provided us with excellent no-pressure info. Just a super-friendly and welcoming woman. My girlfriend got a deep-cleansing facial and came out with a HUGE, beaming smile and she spoke glowingly of the facial and the staff, saying it was one of the best she's experienced. She even continued to comment on her post-facial skin for days following her treatment. My husband booked a couple massage for us on Valentines hearing how great this place was. When we first came there everyone was really nice and friendly. We were helped right away. We went to the locker room and changed into the robe and sandals that they provided and met up in the meditation room which was a lot smaller than I had imagine it. About 5 mins in our masseuses came and greeted us. They were really nice. My masseuse was Anna and my husband was Josephine. Josephine was very passionate about her work and my husband was really relaxed she even showed him some stretches to try out at home since he was very tight. I on the other hand was not feeling it at all. I've been to many places and gotta say this was one of the worst experience. When we first got into the room Anna told me that she is just going to massage me and if i want her to lighten up on her pressure or go harder I would have to tell her. She's not going to communicate with me and if there's anything I have to tell her which is weird since my masseuses always communicate with me and made sure I was comfortable. Once we were undressed and faced down on the table they enter again to start on the massage. They both started us with the aromatherapy. Then Anna went over to the counter for what seemed like forever while Josephine is already massaging my husband. When anna came back to the table she placed a warm towel on me then left again and came back with the hot stones. Then left again to go get hot towels for my feet and left again to go get lotion. She didn't have the lotion on her already like my other masseuses or Josephine. Anna kept on walking back and forth to get lotion leaving me half naked on the table which was very uncomfortable. Throughout the whole massage she kept on sighing which made me feel even more uncomfortable half way through my massage she left me half naked on the table to go outside and when she returned she didnt even washed her hands or anything and just continued to rub my back. The pressure wasn't the issue; I'm usually pretty easy going and a good rub down will do all the massaging and getting my knots out are just bonus, but I didn't even get any of that. It was uncomfortable laying on the table while she sigh and walk back and forth just to rub my back for a couple mins and leave again. Not only that when she turned my over she kept sighing/breathing in my face. We got the 80 mins massage which all I could think of which was "when will this be over" I'm not the type to complain or just get up and walk out I just hold it in. Overall I did not have a good experience at this place and consider it a waste of money. If she wasn't feeling it she shouldnt have been working that day. read more

I booked a birthday party spa day for eleven women. It was our first time there. They scheduled services together in the same room with two individuals. One service was a massage and the other was a body scrub. So the person who had the massage heard the scrubbing of the other individual. We all felt this was wrong and they should have told us before we walked into the room. I will never recommend this spa. Also I did let the manager know about our shock and we never heard from spa manager. We did hear from the manager of the hotel, which was appreciated. Don't go, not worth it at all. read more

My original plan for big 30th birthday included a party bus with lots of alcohol consumption. SO-ooo when I ended up pregnant and sober my girlfriends and I turned to Spa LaLe instead. Thank you Yelpers for helping me discover this hidden jewel! Driving to find the hotel was a bit confusing and as we passed a couple seedy looking apartment buildings, I was a bit skeptical. What a stunning surprise when we turned the corner to come across LaRivage. The spa was very pretty too but the highlight was the fact that we could enjoy the hotels pool for hours at no additional charge while our party rotated through our spa services. The spa provided a delish nonalcoholic punch (not all sugar) AND complementary mimosa's (I think because it was Mothers Day weekend). We called the hotel in advance and they said we were welcome to bring food and beverages to the pool (no alcohol or glass) so we took advantage of that! Spending the day lounging at the pool and spa with yummy chocolate dipped strawberries and cheese plates while getting a great facial and massage? I felt like we were in Italy for the day! I had a facial and a massage here on two separate days here. The spa is cute, small, but a very relaxing set up. The prices were really good, and on one day because I was a hotel guest I got 20% off. The massage was so soothing and relaxing I wish it would have lasted longer. I walked away feeling light and refreshed. the facial was equally good and relaxing.
