The therapist didn't have ANY TECHNIQUE, it was 50 minutes of her rubbing my back, and on top of that I had to keep reminding her what needed to be done (area that I wanted to focus), in the middle of the session she turn on the lights which was (?). My boyrfriend and i bought groupon combo for $187 each that included massage,facial,mani and pedi. Wow it is such a great deal! Barely any waiting time. They had us ready to go as soon as we walked in the door. The staff was very nice and there was always someone to direct us. The facial lady started with questions about how we took care of our face. It was fine at first, but it slowly turned into condescending for a bit. She did a good job though. The massage was next. It was fantastic as she concentrated where i wanted her time to be. I can't recommend Kathy and her team at Spa Logic highly enough. When I first moved to DC, I was worried about finding a hair colorist that would do as good of a job as my old stylist in the city I used to live. I contacted several places in the DC area and chose Kathy because of her warmth, flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile for her clients. Because of my initial trepidation in trying a new salon, Kathy went out of her way to special order the product I was used to for my hair color from my previous salon and follow the exact instructions from my previous stylist. Since my initial visit, I have returned 4 times and have always been super pleased with my hair as well as the professionalism of the staff. Today was my second time coming to Spa Logic. The first trip was great so I decided to venture back to Dupont circle for another spa pedicure and manicure. The second experience was horrible. The technician didn't rush but neglected several steps of the pedicure leaving the soles of my feet dry and peeling. The polish on my toes is uneven and already peeling! My nails are another horror story. The same tech cleaned up my nails (didn't have me wash my hands), rubbed on some lotion (no massage or anything), wiped it off and proceeded to paint my nails. He left me at the chair to dry with a table fan and as my nails were drying, I notice bubbles and cracks in the polish. He was unavailable to help so another tech came over and tried to clean them up. She walked me over to the actual nail dryers and because of the extra coats, a simple manicure took about 90 minutes and three people. Not to mention, they STILL look horrible. The polish is super thick on some nails, cracked and peeling on others. Very disappointed and unlikely to return. read more

I went to this Salon after hearing about it from a friend. Nancy was my stylist and did an AMAZING job. I'm not very knowledgeable about hair and she was able to talk me through some different ideas to make sure I was comfortable. I've been getting waxed and Brazilians for over five years now and this was by far the worst. The technician did not wear gloves, there were none in the room for her to wear, there was no "area prep" before the waxing began and a day later I had skin irritation in the area waxed. Tl/dr: This is the worst massage I've gotten in DC, save your money and go somewhere else. I'm not usually someone who leaves reviews but my experience here was so bad, I felt it was necessary. I scheduled a massage (through Groupon) about a week in advance. On the day of the massage they call me an hour before my Appt. and tell me they have to reschedule (they offer no reason why, no discount or even apologize). Fine, whatever, we schedule for the next day. I show up the next day on time (2pm) since they never said it was necessary to show up early. They're busy so I don't get checked in until 5-10mins later. I meet my massage therapist and she takes me upstairs. By the time I undress and get on the table it's 2:15/2:20. Before beginning she doesn't me where my pain is but I figure she might after we start- she never bothers to asks and spends the whole time on my upper back when my pain was in my lower body. About a minute into the massage she tells me she has another appointment at 3pm so she will have to finish before then. I do the mental math and realize that means I will only be getting 30mins when I paid for a 50 minute massage. This was frustrating. As the massage progresses she starts telling me how stiff my muscles are. No shit, that's why I'm here. She keeps going on and on about the merits of stretching and how I'm clearly not doing it enough. At no point does she ask me if the pressure is okay, etc. I had to tell her that it was too rough at multiple points during the massage and every time I heard her make a tsk sound or she said that it wouldn't hurt as much if I relaxed. I get that my body is tight but I've never had this much pain during a massage and the constant lecturing has not been this relaxing. In fact the whole exchange was very condescending which only made me more tense. She also made at least 3 comments about what time it was and how we were behind, as if that was my fault. Finally after 30 minutes, the massage ends. Reminder, this was supposed to be a 50min massage- we started late and ended at 2:54. Im left to redress and she practically runs out of the room. I get that she must've been double booked but I couldn't have felt less important as a customer. Oh and I STILL have the pain in my lower back and legs since she didn't even bother massaging anything except my lower back. Truly the worst massage and experience I've had in DC. read more

I had such a lovely experience at Spa Logic this weekend for quite a good price. I had decided to do a 'Treat Myself' weekend and spent about 3 hours at Spa Logic to enjoy the day. I started with a Spa Pedicure with Mike, which was very good. The nail area (at the bottom of the building) was a little bit crowded, but once I got settled into my chair, the experience was very enjoyable and Mike gave a great shoulder massage afterwards. Following my pedicure, I was taken upstairs to wait for my Swedish Massage with Donna. I was pleasantly surprised by the actual 'spa' waiting area. I had worried that it would be crowded and loud like the nail area downstairs, but it was the perfect relaxation environment - dim lighting and soothing music. Donna's massage was a bit different than I'm used to, but it felt great! I can't really explain what was different - just different orders and use of hands - but I left feeling totally relaxed. She made sure that I felt comfortable throughout the whole thing and used a good amount of pressure. After that, I headed even further upstairs for a facial with Susan. I haven't typically found facials to be particularly enjoyable experiences (as opposed to a massage), but Susan was totally refreshing. We had a chat to begin with about my skin concerns and she made me feel really comfortable, striking a balance of educating me without seeming preachy or lecturing. I left with my skin feeling great and felt that I'd learned a lot about taking care of my specific skin type, which isn't something I can say for facials in the past. Me and my cousin were traveling to Washington and decided to do a Spa day, we googled and searched groupon websites. We found a deal with fair reviews: a facial, massage, mani/pedi and a glass of wine. I hardly ever get to do spa day because as a working parent, I hardly have the time. When we arrived there, the reception people were very kind. Parking is a nightmare, we paid $12.00 and had to download a parking app, set an alarm every 2 hour to keep paying. Uber/Lyft is the best way to travel to the Spa. I am rating everything different because some of the services were great and the others not so great. Facial: 2/5 It was okay. I liked that she worked on my blackheads, the products smelled good and the room was nice and quiet. I did not like that she upsells you on other products and I could also do without the hot air blasting in my face. Massage 5/5 The masseuse was great. She said she was a specialist for athletic injuries as well, and once I told her I had issues with my back and a torn acl in my knee she knew exactly what to do. I liked that she asks you questions prior to your massage, what type of massage? Any injuries? I also liked that she gave her background history to me of a masseuse. Pedicure 0/5 I have no idea what was happening in the mani/pedi section of the spa. It was a nightmare in there. The room was very small and overly crowded. After coming from the nice customer service in the facial and massage section, it was a completely horrible. I felt rushed with my pedicure, I soaked my feet not even a minute when she drained the water and started working on my feet. Manicure 0/5 After my rushed pedi it got worse with the manicure. My nails were all uneven. They did not have the tools for powder and gel. Manager 0/5 The mani/pedi manager asked us for feedback, she could not take negative feedback at all. I was very disappointed with my experience at Spa Logic. The entire appointment was unacceptable and the confusion and lack of awareness at Spa Logic was extremely troubling. I booked an appointment with Spa Logic with a groupon voucher. I was not allowed to book unless I gave them the voucher code (was not allowed to wait to bring the code to the appointment). This was fine, I gave the code and confirmed my appointment for later that night at 6pm. I showed up at 5:40 for the appointment - knowing I was early and willing to sit and wait for my turn. Upon arrival I checked in and told them my name. At around 5:55 I was told that I would be seeing Tracy and that she would be with my in a couple of minutes. It was not until 6:10 that I was spoken to again. At 6:10, a man (who works there) comes in rather flustered (since he was 10 minutes late for his 6pm appointment) and the receptionist told him that his 6pm appointment was a no show, and that he could rest until his 6:30pm appointment. He asked who the no show was and the receptionist gave him MY name. I stood up and questioned this because I had been there for 30 minutes already and they said I would be seeing Tracy. They said they were sorry for the mix up and that I can go back with him. I protested that if he has a 6:30 appointment, that means he only has 15 minutes to wash/cut/blow dry my hair. They said, "oh don't worry - he can be a little late for the next one." I should have known to cancel right then and there. The wash started with cold water and when I asked to make it warmer, he thought it was strange that I wanted the water hot. He was not careful to not get water in my ears or down my neck. Then the cut - I had shoulder length hair and wanted a trim. He proceeded to tell me that I need to cut two inches off the back and have an angled bob. He then held all my hair in one hand and took the scissors right across the back. IN ONE MOTION. As someone who has had many haircuts in my life, this is what one does if you have several inches to cut off and then the hairdresser can perform the real, more precise cut. Nope, not this time. That was how he was going to cut my hair. I immediately told him that he needed to make it even and add layers, etc. He complied, but in a very hasty manner. In honestly less than 7 minutes, my hair was cut and he was drying. The entire appointment was rushed, uncomfortable, and not what I wanted. I was expecting a relaxing experience and a great haircut and I received the exact opposite. I tipped (not well) out of a sense of obligation, but honestly, it added insult to injury. The next morning, I was left with less money in my wallet, a disappointing feeling about my experience, and an uneven hair cut. I will be asking groupon for a refund or voucher and will certainly not return to this salon. read more

The place was really cool with the main floor being the hair salon, bright and lit up. As you walk upstairs, it becomes dim lighting and there are massage rooms. You go up again and that's where the facial took place. Down in the basement was the nail salon. Everyone on staff was very friendly and things went smoothly and efficiently. Also, plenty of parking during the day during the week. They first started me with my full body massage with Jan. It was great because I'm not wimpy when it comes to tough kneading. She really used her forearms, elbows and fingers to knead into my muscles. The only thing I would criticize was that whenever she stood over my head, something hard and plasticky would press into my head. I would've said something if she spent too much time there but she didn't. I liked the relaxing music they played in the background and the warm eye cover and neck supporter were nice touches. This was my first facial and Sedi guided me through like a pro. She made me feel comfortable and explained things as she went along. The facial massage was great! The extraction part was uncomfortable but bearable. She also told me to tell her if it was too much, but it wasn't bad and I let her do her thing. Lastly, I got a basic manicure and pedicure with Emily. She offered me a glass of wine or something to drink. Nothing to complain about. She did a great job and even suggested a better more opaque white polish that I had originally picked out. My nails looked fresh, clean and neutral-just how I love them. Give them a try! The massage was either extremely painful (where she would lay her elbows and full weight into my back for long periods), or so light her hands were not even moving. I told her that he said that it was just OK, and the reason that he tipped well is because it's Christmas and he's a generous guy. I went to pay since I had upgraded to a gel manicure and they rang me up at the full price of the manicure. Tl;dr my 50 min deep tissue massage was only 35 min of rubbing and very little deeper massaging. Still not the worst massage I've ever had, but definitely not the best. Was gifted a groupon for a 50 minute deep tissue massage. Sent a message through yelp to make an appointment. Never received a reply (so the 100% response rate is a lie). Kind of a bummer that they don't allow you to make reservations online like other places. When I called a week later there were no available slots until another week later. They also ask for your voucher number when you make the appointment so make sure you have it. Had a 7pm massage on a Thursday. Got there around 6:45. Was brought upstairs around 7:05. Waited until 7:15 until the masseuse was finished with a previous client. I'd say by the time I got into the room and the massage started it was probably closer to 7:20-7:25. The massage was over at exactly 7:57 so this was like a 35ish minute massage....definitely not 50min The actually "deep tissue" massage was lots of oil and mostly rubbing with a few flashes of really good strength. It almost felt like a tease each time the masseuse decided to go harder but then immediately went back to gliding/rubbing. Never once asked me where my trouble spots were. Didn't work out any knots in my back and shoulders. The masseuse was super nice though. I won't name the actual masseuse but I will say it wasn't Sarah who has so many good reviews on yelp. I was kind of sad I didn't get her and I wonder how much better she is. I also don't know if it's because I'm a groupon user and the experience is purposely lower quality, but I would never pay full price for a massage here. I had gone to another place near Dupont a few months ago and remember walking out with a big grin on my face because of how great it was. Definitely not the case here. Two stars because I go to Spa Logic regularly and have always had a good experience until yesterday. I went in to get a pedi and gel mani and had a terrible experience. The tech was incredibly rushed and sloppy the whole time. I was cut multiple times on my toes and fingers and I ended up with gel painted and stuck on to my skin and cuticles. I asked him if he could please clean them up a bit but even after he tried it still looks very sloppy and full of bubbles. I'm pretty disappointed because I go there so regularly and usually love it. I have been to Spa Logic many time for various services; a hair cut and color, Brazilian blow out, manicures, pedicures, waxing, threading, and one facial. The not-good (and reason for knocking off a star): the facial experience I had in the summer of 2016 was not representative of the level of service I have come to expect from Spa Logic - the esthetician was watching videos on her smartphone at various times during the service while I waited for steam, for a mask to process, etc.. While I appreciate that she wore headphones, I could still hear what was going on, and I just found it really unprofessional. The really good: Nails! Every time I have had a nail service at this salon, the staff is so friendly, professional, and warm. The nail dryers are also the best and they are well maintained; it truly helps the manicure and pedicure last longer. The threading is also fantastic, I have basically stopped waxing my eyebrows and have been exclusively threading. They do a wonderful job shaping eyebrows and there is no risk of burned skin. The Brazilian blow out was very very good, and the only reason that I haven't been back for another one is because it is mighty expensive and haircuts in this town are budget-busting enough. I go here for EVERYTHING. I discovered this place when I got a Groupon for a mani-pedi, and I was both surprised and happy to see they offered a full range of services. Plus, it's very close to the Dupont metro (which in turn is near my house) so the convenience factor is a big plus. NAILS I come here most often for mani/pedis and I am generally very happy about the level of service. The nail space is a bit small and they're usually quite busy, so it can get a bit cramped, but it doesn't hinder the experience that much. They have automated massage chairs, a few TVs, magazines, and they also offer free drinks (wine, mimosas, water, juice, etc). which is fantastic. I don't ask for a specific nail technician, and since I come here quite a lot, I have had just about every technician. My favorite is probably Mike, since he gives the best massages (my favorite part of a pedicure!) They also have a decent selection of colors, mostly from Essie and OPI, but I believe there are a few other brands available (though I haven't used them). MASSAGES I love massages, which is terrible for my bank account, because they are quite expensive, especially in DC. The first time I got a massage here was over a year ago, when it was still around $55 (I think) for a one-hour deep tissue, which is an amazing price for the area. Hanson was my masseuse and he was great. I usually prefer female masseuses, just because I'm more comfortable with them, but he's super sweet and really knows what he's doing. The price has since gone up to $85, so I haven't come as often because I'm trying to be a financially smart adult, but I still go once every few months. It's my favorite service offered at the spa :) FACIALS I had two facials, one by Sadie, one by Lana. The first was a Gilt City and the second was part of the spa package. They were both great, and both women were very sweet, although Sadie did push the products a little more than Lana. Each time I walked out my skin was glowing! HAIR Ok, so some background first: I have super-straight Asian hair that I typically layer, and I always like having a V shape in the back plus long side bangs. I'm not sure why, but ever since I moved to DC, every stylist I've been to seem unable to grasp those concepts. They either don't do the V shape or bangs right, or they don't do them at all and I have to really push for it at the end of the haircut, which is kind of ridiculous when I told them from the beginning that was what I wanted. Anyway, Tracy at SpaLogic is the only one I've met so far who understood what I wanted right off the bat, without having to ask for more clarification. Plus I guess the fact that she's also Asian helped when it came to cutting my hair :) She did a great job, and she is one of the nicest stylists I've ever met. BROWS I initially got my brows threaded here along with my mani-pedi because I was too lazy to go to another salon when I was already here, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I wouldn't say it's the best place for brows in DC (that would be Willie at Browbeat Beauty in Columbia Heights) but it was only $12 (as opposed to $35 for Browbeat) and the results were pretty good. I've had no complaints. However, I am not sure if the lady who does the threading is still there. The last time I went (around late April) I heard she was back in her home country for a while and my manicurist wasn't sure when she would be back. So now they only do brow waxes, which isn't my thing, so guess I have to go to another threading place... BRAZILIAN WAX This is probably the only service I don't really like at the spa. Generally, I like to get waxed by Mirka (Age Smart by Mirka) in Bethesda, but I figured I might as well try to be even lazier and fit this step into the spa too. Unfortunately, the process was LONG (way longer than a normal Brazilian wax), painful, and I had a bunch of ingrown hairs afterwards. Sorry if that's TMI, but it's true. I was disappointed, since everything else at the spa is so great, but alas, no place can be perfect, I guess. Because of the Brazilian, I debated between 4 or 5 stars but ultimately decided on 5 because a majority of the services are great and the people who work there are super-sweet to boot. The only annoying thing is I can no longer tip on my card for nails and brows (I used to, but they changed the system) and I hate having to take out cash, but that is just a minor complaint. Had the most amazing experience on my bday. I purchased a Groupon for a spa day treatment. It included a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and wine! When I initially called to book my spa day, there was no availability on my actual birthday. I asked for a call back if the availability changed. Ever the persistent one, I went by in person a few days before and was able to get an appointment on my actual birthday. This was kind of weird, but I got one confirmation call the day before, and I confirmed that I'd be showing up. I got another call about 15 minutes before my appointment asking me to confirm again. I was literally around the corner and told her that. When I arrived on a rainy Tuesday, I was quickly greeted. They took my umbrella and coat and my first stop was my facial. As I was waiting, I helped myself to some water and an apple. The facial was good: she tried to interest me in a $40 upgrade that as far as i could tell only offered organic products. Pass. Although some extractions were perforrmed, I did find it soothing. I felt comfortable asking her questions about how to take care better care of my face. Next stop was a massage. That massage was literally the best one I have ever had in my entire life. I don't get them every month, but in 2015 I probably had about 4 professional massages. Hanson's hands were amazing. I can't even really describe the feeling, but his technique was awesome. I almost fell asleep, which is really difficult for me to do when I'm. Not in my own bed. After that, I went downstairs for a mani/pedi. Note here that there are so many different floors in this place. There's the main salon floor, down one level is the mani/pedi, up one level from main is where I got my facial, and up one more is where I got the massage. My technician was awesome. She was friendly and a perfectionist. I brought my own polish so I could easily fix and chips. I've actually never had "fake nails" (not even sure what to call them) so I don't know how she is at applying those. I just know she made my natural nails look great. I'm a *curly* girl, and for some reason, my hair is an anomaly to all who attempt to cut it. For a long time I had an awful habit: grow hair out for 7+ months, find a clueless hair dresser get a rotten short hair cut, grow hair out for 7+ months and find a new clueless hair dresser and get a rotten short hair cut. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. About 5 years ago I found Garrett and my hair has never looked better. Besides our great and very entertaining conversations, I don't walk out with a rotten hair cut-- I walk out with a GREAT one. So, if you're curly, Garrett is a great choice. I followed Garrett from a previous salon that was, putting it nicely, a dump. This salon is a world of difference. I had a nice shampoo and condition as was offered multiple drinks from everyone who worked there. The lighting is bright, the entire salon is clean and everyone seems to get along nicely. I'm glad I'll get to visit Garrett again at Spa Logic. read more

My nail person moved here so naturally, I moved with her. The spa is really nice. It's downstairs in the basement under the hair salon. It's a bit crowded which hasn't been a problem yet. Though is does get really busy on the weekend. They offer water, coffee, tea or wine when you sit down which is a nice touch. I go to Vivian for my nails as I've been doing for years. She's as great as always. read more
