Seriously, the BEST mani/pedi I have ever had in Chicago. Its a bit out of the way but definitely worth the ride. What I love about this place is the exceptional service. They will help you choose your colors, give you a kick ass pedicure complete with leg massage, scrub, and comfy massage chair. But the best thing about the pedicure is how the take care of those nasty callouses! These girls know what they are doing and they do it well! The manicure is just as good, complete with relaxing hand massage and great attention to details. I've been waiting for the day when I would no longer be a Yelp virgin. Being an avid user of the site and always taking it's recommendations, it was about time that I popped my cherry. If God ran a nail salon, this would be it. It's clean, efficient, wonderfully decorated, amazingly staffed, and all around the best place to go get your mani-pedi. The selection of colors is perfect and organized by shade so you can easily find what you're looking for. They greet you in the nicest way and they go out of their way to make you feel like you're fabulous. But it doesn't end there! If you're ever looking for a brazilian wax, go here! Jay (I think that's what she told me her name was) did a fabulous job! 3.5. This is a spot I do recommend to others for a couple of reasons. The workers here keep it clean, and are meticulous wtih their work. They always seem to take their time to achieve the best results. The best time to go would be Mon-Tues, since this is their $35 mani/pedi special. Typically, it is $15 for a mani, $35 for a pedi. They've got massaging chairs that are acceptable, but have some wear. They also do not massage your bottom. Their pedi tubs are clean, although I could have fared with a much higher heat. Color selection feels limited in quantity, but are mostly kept to OPI and Essie (two of my fave brands). You'll find your usual reds and pinks. Some blues, grays, purples, and very few neons, glitters, and other special types. I like that they give you a frequent flier card, and that they also give you an actual massage (although it is only about a minute.) I don't feel like this spot gives the best ambience for relaxation or a spa day, but you'll definitely get good results. The driers are also pretty standard, only with fans (no UV light). My only "hmm" factor was that the tech seemed hesitant in applying 3 coats. One was my own polish, which was a glitter, and shouldn't have been a big deal. However, the pink I chose was neon, and application was a bit streaky and uneven. Which should be fine for most polishes, but I'd caution others to watch carefully, as I'm sure this is a method they use to conserve their product. OH! second "hmm" factor: They love paper towels here, which may be nice because it may be more cost-effective than repetitive laundry on hand towels, but feels cheap and takes away from a "luxurious" experience. (I could paint my nails on a paper towel at home.) I usually do my own mani-pedi's, but it's been a while, and i needed some shaping, cuticle care, callus shaving, and a little massage. I found this place through Yelp!, so thank you all for reviewing it! Spa Nail City is right on my way home from work, and conveniently located a few doors down from a Starbucks, so you can grab a coffee before your mani. There's always parking in the lot. I have gel nails (chronic nail biter - gel thwarts my incisors!) and it's hard to find a place that does them. The owners, Chris and Eunice, both do them, and they each do a beautiful job. There's a nice long table loaded with magazines to sit at after you're done so you'll be comfortable waiting for your nails to dry. (Plus, you get a mini shoulder massage! Bonus!!) And there are, like, 200 colors (mostly OPI and Essie) to choose from. For St. Patrick's day I went with OPIs "Jade is the New Black" topped with a coat of "Call my Cell-ery" and received the ultimate compliment when an 8-year-old girl came over from her manicurist to ask me what color I was wearing - she wanted to wear the same one! I'm not known for my classicly-laquered nails. Usually I'm wearing black or blue. Or both. You'll be greeted immediately when you enter the door and thanked warmly when you leave; and your nails will look amazing. I go every two weeks and have never been disappointed. read more

I looove this place. This is my go to nail spot! Everyone here is so friendly. They have massage chairs and a comfortable seat for manicures. The manicure lasts for a good 4 days and the pedicure lasts forever. Well until your nail grow. The service here is excellent. Really I am embarrassed to say I was walking around with half polished toes for about a week. Chicago summers are hectic and I had no time for a pedi. But with the weekend here I found myself at Spa Nail City. It is tucked away next to a Chase bank and Starbucks but had parking which was a plus. It was 6:30pm when I was walking in and noticed they close at 7 (they later told me they take people until 7 which is great if you go for an after-work treat). I hesitated to ask for a pedi and thought they would do a quick rush-me-out type of pedicure. But hell I desperately needed one so I stayed. One hour later (no skimping!) I seriously love this place! Everyone who works here is so nice, and really good. They have a mon-tues special for $35 which is a great deal. Or for $50 add a 10 min massage or paraffin wax. Every time I've come here I've loved my experience. They are clean and friendly and have a great selection of colors. They also do waxing and my brows always amazing after. They know what they are doing here. My manicures always last a long time and they give great massages while your nails are drying. They also have a 20% off student discount which is great! Sometimes you just want a polish change. Often, when you go into a nail salon and ask for one, they give you a little pushback, and urge you to get a manicure instead. There's a reason Spa Nail City doesn't do this. It's because they know their customers got their last manicures with them, and they know that the cuticles still look fantastic. And it's true. You can praise a nail salon all you want for how well your polish stays, but it *really* says something about a nail salon when it's been three weeks, your regular nail polish has chipped off, and you realize that your cuticles still look clean, moisturized, and amazing. And you can just walk in and ask for a few minutes to apply fresh polish. And by the way, the polish change service at Spa Nail City is honestly better than actual manicures a most nail places. It even comes with a massage. The quality and service to price ratio of this place is so damn high. Every single person who works here is skilled, polite, gentle and thorough. This place is fabulous! The employees who work here are absolutely brilliant. I went here for the first time and got the best mani/pedi I've ever had, and I've had bunches. The mani lasted the longest any mani has ever lasted. There was a super-snarky lady there also getting a mani/pedi when I was there, and she had two employees put her shoes on for her. She kept barking at them that they weren't doing it right, that the tongue of the shoe wasn't just right, that they weren't tying them just right - she was just plain awful, and the two young women were so super sweet and kind and just kept catering to this awful beast of a woman. This is my neighborhood nail salon and I wouldn't cheat on them, unless I had no choice. =) The owners are a couple who are on site on a regular basis. They are friendly and hospitable and make you feel at home. Like other nail salons, this salon DOES NOT have that "nail salon" smell which is a deal breaker for me. It's clean with a neutral ambiance. Mondays and Tuesdays there is a mani/pedi deal for $35. They provide a mini massage while drying nails at the end. There are enough staff members to accommodate walk-ins. The longest I've waited is about 10 minutes, but I had the luxury of sitting at a pedicure chair while reading a magazine getting a chair massage. Try it out and let me know what you think. I have to admit that I don't pay as much attention to my feet as I should. I've never had a pedicure, I paint my nails when I feel like it, usually after all the polish has chipped off. :x Summer is here, the flip flops and sundresses are out and everyone has cute feet. I want cute feet. So, I went to that closest place with the best reviews, and here is mine. I was pretty excited to book an appointment on a Tuesday and accidently qualify for the $35 manicure + pedicure special. Spa Nail City was pretty crowded, simple interior, pretty clean. - The price and location are definitely worth 5 stars. - The girls that did my nails were basically silent and looked kind of miserable, which made me a little uncomfortable. - I'm a germaphobe and I questioned whether the stainless steel de-cuticling thing was also being used on the dude getting a pedicure next to me (after being dipped in blue sanitizing solution - but still), but I hope I was just being paranoid. - The mani/ped itself was relatively painless and almost (I dare say, but not quite) relaxing. - The final result was nice, but not perfect. A few of the nails on my fingers were filed crooked and look weird. I don't think many people other than myself would notice, though. All in all, it was an interesting experience. If I ever decide to spring for another pedicure, I'll come back here on Monday-Tuesday. $35 is a good deal. read more

The atmosphere is very relaxing and clean. I emphasize the word CLEAN because far too many nail salons are cropping up that are NOT. Though Yelp says they close at 7 pm during the week, they are actually opened until 8 pm during the week. On Mondays and Tuesdays they offer a special - mani/pedi for $35. Perfect! I came here cuz of the great reviews and i am now a convert, The place is super clean and the people are so friendly. They have great cute colors from O.P.I. and essie and all the people take their time. I saw a few pedicures getting done and the people giving them seemed meticulous. My lady was the same way. I came in with really dark polish that seemed a little tough to get off all the way but she trucked on and did. My nails are so pretty now. I am one happy camper. At $12 (u save 20% if ur a student $15 normally) for a mani I could totally go there on a weekly basis. Bonus there is a non-metered parking lot a starbucks, chase bank, and a subway all in the same little plaza. I was able to get a walk-in for my mani pedi this morning and this place was absolutely great! Everything was clean and all the staff was polite. Yujin was very gentle with the massage and scrubbing so I loved that (I'm a wimp when it comes to massage). She was also very accommodating with my 3 year old. Angie did my daughter's mani which was absolutely adorable! My daughter picked deep purple nail polish with a white flower on each thumb! I'm definitely coming back here! read more

The ONLY reason I give this place 4 stars is because it's a little out of the way. Beyond that, this place is fantastic! I was in DESPERATE need of a pedicure and turned to Yelp to guide me in the right direction. Man, did it ever. Even though this place was out of the way for me I decided to drive out there. They were able to get me in right away. The place is very clean and perfectly quiet. Someone greets you right at the door and seats you right away. Nice, big, comfy chairs. The girl was gentle, but could have spent a little more time on my feet all around. It's now a week later and my hands and feet look great! My fingers didn't start chipping right away like I've experienced at so many other places. I really do recommend this place if you're willing to drive a little out of the way. Oh! P.S. My search is finally over! My new go-to nail salon is Spa Nail City. I am a California transplant and have now lived in the great city of Chicago for a little over two years. I love Chicago but the one complaint I have had is the lack of good places to get my nails done. My nails are very thin and brittle so I have gel nails. I am VERY picky about how my gels are done. No "chop-shops" for me! I want the salon clean with good quality products (Spa Nail City uses Creative) and an experienced technician that will NOT make my gel nails huge, thick and fake looking (even though they are). ;) When I first walked in Chris and Eunice, the owners, gave me the warmest greeting I have ever had walking into a salon. My appointment was with Eunice. She looked at the condition of my nails, asked me a lot of questions about products I have used in the past, and we agreed upon a powder gel formulation for my nails. She soaked and gently hand filed off my old brisa gel nails taking special care not to damage my thin nails underneath and expertly applied my new set of gels. The are BEAUTIFUL! Completely natural looking, shaped perfectly and for a final touch, applied a beautiful shade of OPI pink. Some other great perks when you come to Spa Nail City! They have their own parking lot (no expensive meters to pay). There is a Starbucks in the same strip mall...yummy! The salon is clean, clean, clean with a large selection of OPI and Essie colors. They have lovely pedicure spa chairs (I'm getting my pedicure in two-weeks when I go back for my fill). They have mani-pedi specials on I believe Tuesdays and Wednesdays (call them and ask). They also do no-chip manicures. AND, for the finale...they give you a wonderful shoulder, neck and back massage while your nails/toes are drying! Chris and Eunice and the staff at Spa Nail City are hands-down the BEST! Take it from me. I have been getting my nails and toes done for 24 years now. I went to Spa Nail City because of the good ratings it has received here on Yelp. Overall it was a good experience. I had a pedicure and eyebrow waxing. Mari was my technician for both. I have only one complaint ---the massage chair didn't work! I know a lot of people don't like them, but I do. This one didn't work at all. I was disappointed, but that's not what I went there for! Mari did a nice job on both toes and eyebrows. Great price, easy to get in, nice facility. I don't like TV's blaring Sex and the City, I like background music and relative quiet. That's what I got. Quiet conversations and nice music. I don't like to try to have a conversation with the technician, and she didn't try to have one with me (I pulled out my iPod right away). The price is great too, and parking right in front of the place! I will be back! read more

I have to agree with everyone's review and recommend it to those looking for an outstanding mani pedi. I saw Eunice who soaked off my gel nails and filed them off by hand! If you don't know how difficult that is, it's like trying to carve a pumpkin with a plastic spoon. OK, well not THAT hard, but you get my drift? There's a lot of talent and arm strength that goes into filing off all the excess gel till your natural nail is left. She did a great job, I was very impressed. The only thing that is discouraging, is the drive. I live downtown, so for me to get there during rush hour took almost 40 minutes. I will find a more convenient time and check the traffic report, because I have found a place to be a regular. read more

The only reason I gave Spa Nail City 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had a bad waxing experience there. Every time I get my nails done here they turn out perfect, the staff is mega-friendly and somehow they always remember me even though I only come in once every 6 months or so. They also have a "frequent" member's card where every time you get a service you get like 10% put onto a card and once you reach $15 you can put it towards a service. They are affordable and the shop never has that chemical smell. But please do not get your delicate lady area waxed there. When I left it looked like my whoo-ha had a Hitler style mustache. . . not OK. Parking is easy and there is a Chase and Starbucks all in the same shopping center, PERFECTION! read more

Awesome pedicure here! They have nice spa chairs that have a color changing light in the pedi bowl. Very relaxing. They use metal files (they UV sterilize) to get off the nasty dry skin off your feet. They end the pedicure with a nice massage with lotion followed up by a hot towel, ahhh! This little nail salon is worth the trek up to Peterson and Pulaski. I just can't wait for that road construction to be complete. What game players! I highly do not recommend that anyone comes to this place. I was here on 3 occasions. All 3 were very good. I came today and suddenly the price is jacked up for the same service. I came here today with my Mom for the first time and she walks with a cane. It is my Mom's birthday and I wanted her to have a very nice experience. Why tell me the price is so much higher in person instead of when I called on the phone to make the appointment? Why is the price so much higher than only 2 weeks ago? Do you think I am desperate and there are no other options? There are plenty of nail salons. We passed many quality places as I was looking for her to enjoy her experience here. This was a good quality mani-pedi. I felt like something was missing from the pedicure. I got the regular pedicure and was in and out of the chair in 20 minutes! It seemed that other people got more scrubbing and massage than I did. The person who did my nails seemed like she did not want to be there as well. After several visits in search for a replacement nail salon (since the owners at Nail Tyme sold and it had been my home for 7 years), I yelped for a place near my home and decided to give Spa Nail City a try. From the first moment Eunice (the owner's wife) was very pleasant and listened to my needs and accommodated what I needed. When it was time to pay I was expecting to pay at least $20 for repairing my nails, and she charged me $10 and said she hoped I'd come back. I returned two weeks later and her husband filled my gel nails, and I had a pedicure and it was great. I've been here twice already for a manicure and no chip. They do a really nice job. There price is pretty standard and they are really nice. I really like the cleanliness and newer equipment they use. They have massage chairs as well and I love getting a back, neck and head massage while I wait for my nails to dry. I'm not patient and don't like waiting for my nails to dry, so this is perfect! The best thing is that I've never had to wait either. Michelle did my nails and massage and she's really great. Hate to bring it down 2 stars however the service seems to have diminished in the last year. The male owner has always been a bit rude but I've been able to deal and move on however most recently he's been over the top. I scheduled an appointment for myself and someone else. I made it to the appointment before my friend, when I called my friend they were 5 min out, was stuck in traffic. I informed the male owner and he rolled his eyes. After, literally, a minute he asked again "Where is your friend?" once again I informed him that they were on the way and will be here shortly. My friend arrived shortly after, apologizing profusely for being late and he said "Next time be on time". While we were drying our nails we wanted to be sure it was dry and the salon was pretty empty so we stayed a little longer under the dryer just to be sure, again empty salon, and he comes by us and says "I think you can go now, you're nails are dry". I've been coming here for almost 13 years however if I continue to get yelled at I do not see myself coming back. read more

I have been to this nail salon on multiple occasions, and really enjoy coming here. The staff is friendly, professional and efficient. There is a hostess/manager who greets you upon arrival. I have never had a wait when I arrive, and have recently begun calling ahead to make an appointment, just to be on the safe side. The nail salon is not a large space, but it is clean and organized. For a no chip mani and pedi, the cost is $70, so it is comparable to other places. Only reason that I knocked 1 star is that for the price, other salons may offer wine, or mimosas, and have nicer fixtures, and amenities. read more
