I have gone to spa nail city enough times to almost completely fill the "reward" card. Pretty good experience up until I got a mani/pedi. the technician did not speak English. she saw my thumb nail and instantly determined "damaged". from wearing constant polish my nails are yellowish. seemed reasonable to remove the yellow, figured she knew how. the technician "buffed" the nails -all of them. she moved so hard it made my cuticle bleed. she puts on a little blue stuff and smiles. wow. later in the week 6 of my nails develop nicks, verticle cracks that cause me to have to cut off the area. as the nail grows out more cracks because the damage caused by the rough buffing is deep in the bed of the nail. I call and get a male on the phone who insists they can do nothing because I waited more than 3 days. he kept going on about the polish. Polish NOT the issue! the cracks and damage caused by the rough buffing is the problem! He just did not understand enough English to follow what I was trying to explain. this is the last time spa city will see me. a basic understanding of English is needed to conduct business! read more

Not impressed. The owner seemed like a slave driver. He didn't talk very nice to the women. Seemed very short and not kind. Plus, when I pay 45 bucks for a mani pedi I would like it to be relaxed and not rushed. When we were done with our services we were under the nail dryer for maybe 4 minutes when it was clear he was impatient and wanted to close shop. Not cool. There are way too many nail places in the city to choose from. I won't be back. Advice to the owner...treat your employees better. Don't rush your customers out the door! read more

Oh no my fellow yelpers have done me wrong. I came in on Sunday while killing time.y grandma was at a near by hospital for a stress test. No one told me it would be a 4 hour wait. What's a girl to do? My nails looked like they could use some love so I looked for a nail salon with good reviews, in the area, and open on sunday. Enter Spa Nail City. Prices were a little higher than the burbs for a no chip, which I figured. What I didn't expect was the extra 5 they charged me to remove my old no chip because I didn't get it from them. I don't know what that 5 was for since the girl didn't even take off all the old polish and it destroyed my new no chip by having an uneven color. I could have done a better job myself. Like someone else mentioned, my nails weren't soaked at all to soften the cuticles. I got cut numerous times. I'm not in this area much so I know I won't be back and this was definitely not a place I would make a special trip for. The only nice thing was the unexpected, included parafin wax treatment I got for my hands. At least something came out of this no chip manicure. Since it wasn't nice looking nails, at least my hands are soft. read more

Went here on Monday, after I couldn't get an appt at different salon with my groupon. The place is so nice & clean all the staff is very friendly. They are little more expensive than most salon. But Mon &Tues they have mani/pedi special for 35. I will def go here again. read more

I live nearby and walk over for manicures and pedicures. They do a nice job and the nail technicians are always friendly. My only complaint is how anxious they are come 7pm (they close at 8pm). When I booked my appointment for later the same day, they put me down for a pedicure at 7:15pm and asked that I come in earlier if possible. I said I'd try. Come 6:45pm they are calling me asking me again to come ASAP. I was already on my way and got there at 7pm, but didn't appreciate how impatient they were about the whole thing. read more

While I love to get dolled up, I am still fairly low maintenance, and don't often go for mani/pedis and the like. Yesterday, however, I decided to pamper myself, and based on the review of Manicure Goddess Colleen C., I decided to hike out there and give them a whirl. Worth every mile. I walked in around 11:30 on a Wed. and the place was empty. I opted for a $45 mani/pedi. The massage chairs for the pedi was a great bonus, and between that and the leg massage, it was all I could do to stay awake, I was so relaxed and content. I was very impressed when before she did my manicure, she cleaned and sanitized the pedi tub. Bonus point. The manicure was well done too, and I loved the hot towel and hand massage. While I was at the drying station, I also got a mini neck and back rub. I tell you, forget the nails, I would come for all the massages and hot towels alone. I usually mess up a nail within minutes of them being done, but that didn't happen here. Even after plenty of typing today, they still look perfect. And everyone working there was very nice. I may just have to treat myself to this more often, and this will be the place I choose. Got to keep my nails looking pretty for summer sandals :) read more

This place just made my day. I just took my mom there for a belated mother's day date. I made an appointment (though I'm not sure that was necessary); however, due to forces beyond my control, I had to push the appointment back and then I was still reeeeeally late. They were SUPER nice about it (even though I get the feeling they stayed late for us), and didn't skimp on anything... I got a leg rub and happy feet, and they finished it off with a shoulder rub while my toes dried. Rock on spa nail city. :) read more

I had to create a yelp account just to write a review about this place! I read all the wonderful reviews and decided to check this place out for myself yesterday. I'm SO glad I did because I now have a favorite nail place! I booked a mani and pedi. I missed the Monday Tuesday special for $35 so my total came out to $45. Still not a bad deal! The place was immaculately clean, the staff very friendly and attentive. The nail stations looked very nice - not the typical cheap nail stations you see everywhere else. As an added bonus, I got a shoulder rub as I was drying my nails. It's very convenient for me location wise but I'd still make the trip here even if I lived farther. Thanks to everyone who wrote their reviews about this place. It helped me decide to check this place out and am I glad I did! Spa Nail City rocks! read more

Thank you yelpers for directing me here... I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this place. I had a mani/pedi as well as an eyebrow wax. First of all this place is so clean! I don't think I've ever seen a cleaner salon in my life! Secondly the people who work here are so friendly. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, by the sweet little lady who works at the front desk. She helped me pick out a polish and escorted me to my nail tech. She even said "Have a nice weekend Jennifer" when I left...she remembered my name! What a nice touch! The woman who did my nails was very meticulous and gave me a great and relaxing mani/pedi. The woman who waxed my eyebrows did an equally great job. The whole total came to $60! What a deal! I've gone to Spa Nail City 4 or 5 times because it was convenient and had adequate experiences. Today, however I had a very bad experience. My manicurist who didn't look old enough to be legally working completely botched my nails, obviously a very inexperienced young woman. She started out by cutting my nails too short. I asked her to make them rounded, the same shape they were and she made the first 2 square and uneven and ragged. At that point I asked for someone else to complete the job, something I have never done before. The second person did a fine job, but thanks to the first young woman's cutting, etc. my nails are now much shorter than I wanted, in fact they are non-existent. I waited a long time to go in because I wanted my nails to be long enough that I'd still have some legnth left after the manicure. So much for that plan. With all the nail salons to choose from, I will never go back here. read more

Nice ladies, decent manicure but I have to wonder what disease I have been exposed to. I never saw then disinfect the foot bath and I watched multiple customers come and go. They also lay the clean wet towels on the chairs at night to dry...saves money on a dryer which would help kill germs. SOOO relaxing! I was is desperate need of a massage so decided to get the 90 min. Chris was amazing!! I didnt even have to tell him where it hurt....he already knew. It was probably the best massage I have ever had. Very professional and I was so comfortable. I also had a manicure pedicure which was great and I left there feeling 1000% percent better than when I walked in. After having a horrible experience at a nail salon that I will not name, I decided to try out Spa Nail City after I read the reviews on Yelp! Let me tell you this is my new favorite nail salon! I have artificial nails and the previous salon I went to made them really uneven and almost every nail had an indent in them, so when I went to Spa Nail City to get them filled they look 100% better! The minute I walked through the door I was greeted by so many friendly people and they even took my coat and hung it up for me (which isn't a big deal, but the little things count for me). Then Chris (manicurist) got to work fixing/filling my nails. He did such a good job that they almost look like my real nails! I even go TWO neck/back massages while I was waiting for my nails to dry (no extra cost)! Every person that works there wants you to have the best experience while your there. They are a little more price (Gel fill = $35 + tip) but I think it is worth every penny for the little extras you get (messages & professionalism)! I'm getting married in two weeks and I already booked my Wedding day Gel fill & pedicure! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone as they also offer 15-1 hour chair messages & waxing of all kind on top of their nail services. PS- You can put the tip on your credit card, which is awesome since most places you need cash for tips (And I never have cash on me)! read more

Love this place! Its clean (no chemical smell at all), comfy chairs, always available for you, nice staff, I can go on and on. Had a pedicure one day and it was perfect, so I went back for a UV Gel mani a couple days later. Did a perfect french. Prices are ok-middle of the road. They have a parking lot so you never have to park on the street. This was the 3rd place I have tried in the past month searching for someone who does the job just right. 3rd times a charm. Spa Nail City is a little more expensive than the average neighborhood nail salon, but they provide some worthwhile extras. The pedicurist did a brief massage on my calves during the pedicure as well as my shoulders as my nails dried. The ambiance and decor is warm and pleasant, not just bare and spartan like than the average nail place. And there's no chemical odor. The people who work there are friendly and hospitable. They also offer a discount for students and a mani/pedi special on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you're in a big hurry, a cheaper nail place will do, but if you want some relaxation without going to a fancy spa, Spa Nail City is a good compromise. read more

My friend and I went here for a main pedi and felt very uncomfortable here. The technician and I had difficulties communicating due to language barriers. I also felt uncomfortable that the technician of my friend and me would talk to each other in their native language. They made no effort to talk to us! I probably wont go back. What a disappointment this place has become. I was just talking it up a few days ago and stopped in with a friend for a mani pedi. To say it was awkward is an understatement. I had one of the older women with brown hair and she actually screamed "stop" and pushed my foot down because I moved it too much apparently at the beginning of the pedi. I might have moved it accidentally but really don't think it warranted a screech. I should have gotten up and left. She did not say a word the whole time and mumbled low under her breath every while or so. Who knows what the hell she was saying. My friend had the older heavy black haired woman who was even more rude. I actually caught her making a nasty face at my friend when she made a comment at me. Not a grunt to my friend either but they did both manage to speak under their breath to each other in another language. I have always liked this place because I believe the owner does not allow all the back and forth talk while doing nails. It is rude. Well he wasn't there so I guess they felt a little bolder keeping it up when they felt like it. My friend said, "I could have done this at home". Her rude lady had only pushed her cuticles back with no trimming and she had to ask her to fix a snaggy nail AFTER she had put the polish on and then fix 2 other nails that looked smeary. Not a word of thanks even upon tipping. This place is now off our list. The 2 younger girls that work there are so sweet and smile and act like they are happy to do your nails. These 2 rude witches must have miserable lives. I guess the pressure of being expected to treat people paying for a service decently is too much for them. Go to S and J nails 5360 Devon instead. Never again. I went for a brazillian waxing. The lady was so incompetent! I've been waxing for years and I rarely bleed.. Not only did she leave me bleeding she also wasn't even pulling out the hair properly as alot of it wasn't coming out at the roots and was just breaking off as a stubble. Towards the end she decided to take off her gloves and use her unwashed hands instead!!. I asked her to put back on gloves and she said she can't work with gloves so I just said forget it were done and left. She also kept commenting on how much hair I have which is rude and shocking because I wax every month for a number of years and I do not have an abnormal amount. The whole experience was very unsettling... She didn't know how to pull off the paper properly and must have first patted each paper down a good five times(?!?!) She kept using the same paper until i pointed out that it's full and maybe that's why the hair isn't pulling out well.. I'm definitely never ever going back there. I cannot believe that this salon has been so close to me and I have never been here. I called them at 3:15 for a Gel Mani and regular Pedi appointment. They took me right away when I got there, a man did my nails, and he was amazing, meticulous, just the way I like it! I got my nails done with a Gel OPI called ONYX, and they are incredible looking! and my toes were also amazing! I am glad I went here, will be telling my mom about this place!!! I joined Yelp at a friend's suggestion specifically to find a good nail salon in my area, and this place had the best ratings. And I can tell you, its definitely deserved. The biggest reason why? THEY LISTEN TO YOU!!! I've been to so many other places that all the employees will (and please don't take this as a racist statement, its just an observation) yell back and forth at each other across the salon in their native tongue, completely not paying attention to you or the fact they're digging into your cuticles. This place is NOT one of those. They're very aware of what potentially hurts and make sure to ask you if you're okay, and they very infrequently stop what they're doing to talk to the other employees. And they do what you ask them to, not what they feel looks best. I unfortunately bite my nails very very short, so when I get artificials put on to try to curb the habit, most places will cut them to the length they like, thinking longer will make me more likely to stop biting, even if I tell them I want shorter. Longer just means I'm more likely to get frustrated and destroy my nail bed by ripping them off. The gentleman that did my nails at Spa Nail City, Chris, was very understanding as to why I want them to be short, and as I type this, I have absolutely no difficulty typing or grabbing or anything like that. Yes, they aren't glamorous at this length, but they're functional and delicately pretty and hopefully will help curb my habit. The paraffin wax was great, as well as the pedicure, and I couldn't have asked for a better environment. Very relaxed, very clean, no TV or radio blaring, just some soft music in the background of the warm earthy-toned salon. My only complaint is the price of the artificials. The other prices are just fine, and I'm amazed that their Brazilian wax is only $40 so I'll have to go back to try that next time, but the artificials by themselves is $60, about twice what most other places charge. Chris was very meticulous about making sure they were perfect, but I don't know if his perfection was worth double. Overall, it was great and I definitely recommend it to others. And be sure to pick up one of their customer cards, its like a Frequent Flier card that you can redeem at $15 worth, awesome! read more
