This place is clean and the staff is friendly but the massage was alright. We went first thing in the morning and it was really annoying that they massaged our heads last. If they already have oil in their hands, they should've done it first so we don't have oily hair. Also, if the 20% tip is mandatory, they should've put that as the total. The resort has a spa! Surprise you didn't see that coming...well the surprise is that it's a cave but not. It's sold as a cave but it's a man made ground level building. Either way, you wear the robe in your room and walk around the pool across the back alley to the entrance. If you're like us m, you'll walk past the gift shop and around the corner to a big cavernous y'all with chandeliers and try your luck at all the locked doors. No signage, no way finding, no people...so much confusion! Then you go back to the gift shop and learn that's the spa check in counter too. We checked in, were escorted to a relaxation area where water was served and a lot of large robes people stare at each other with disdain. Youre called up and given a brief tour. The most disappointing fact is the sauna and hot tub areas are gender segregated so you can't enjoy them with your husband. Well I couldn't, with mine! We take our time, enjoying the facility then had a couples massage. I loved my chick, he was angry and sore. A day later he loved what she had done. You're given a drink and then go back to your lockers to change/bathe and leave. Lots of expensive none sense products are thrown in your face. You leave feeling good! read more

There was a hassle with my appointment this time which was annoying and required countless call backs to get it rectified. And I wish this place would put in a hair and nail salon so that you can have your hair done when you are done with your services versus having to get dressed and head into downtown Napa to a salon they do buisness with. My husband and I were planning an anniversary weekend away to Napa and decided to book Spa Terra for a relaxing spa day. For the price of this place I really expected more. I went with the solo vino body treatment that is followed with a massage and my husband got the tension tamer massage. Pros: -beautiful and relaxing atmosphere -my massage really was well done. I asked for my massage to be in the firmer side and it was perfect pressure wise. I was definitely feeling it the next day which I love! -amenities were good. The showers, hot tub, and steam rooms -wine and cheese plate Cons: - for some reason the place was so cold! During my body treatment there's multiple times where I needed to get up and shower off and go back to the table and I was literally SHIVERING. How did they not notice the goose bumps covering my body and actual teeth chattering. Same deal with my Swedish massage, at one point I mentioned I was very cold and I believe he turned the table heater up some but I was still so cold. I do not get cold very easy and it's very hard to relax when you're shivering! - when I called to book I asked for my husband to get a glass of wine with his service. It was forgotten and when we asked it was in the house but it's those little attention to detail moments that make you question why you're paying so much... -my service came with wine and cheese that was served at the end. It was really good but again I had to mention it and my masseuse didn't know what I was talking about. It made me feel forgotten. Who knows if I would have gotten it had I not said anything. -glasses of wine are available upon request but no one tells you that! -lastly, I was really disappointed in the lack of smells. I know this sounds strange but I got a wine themed body treatment and nothing smelled like wine or made it feel like a specialty treatment! I was told it was a Cabernet grape scrub but it could have literally been just salt for all I know. The mud mask, lotions and oils used were all odorless making everything feel so basic. I sprung for the extra treatments for a reason and was pretty disappointed with that. As we were leaving I saw a card in the hallway where you can request extra add on services and one was "aromatherapy" making me wonder if it's standard for them to use everything unscented and you have to pay for that sort of thing. Every spa I've ever been to has used lavender oils or scented oils that I can choose from I've never see it as an add on request. I went to this spa recently with my friends. I will say, they had wonderful experiences but I had to share mine because I cant stop laughing. I booked a relaxation massage and there were moments where I did everything to not burst into laughter. First, the tickling of my ears and massaging of my earlobes. A bit strange but trust the professionals? Then the massaging of deep into my armpits - again maybe a new technique? Then he squeezed between my index finger and thumb and told me that this was super helpful and I quote "to go number 2". Right after he did that he moved onto my forearm where he rolled around a pressure point that clearly was painful- to which he replied, "see this is a self defense technique, I'm only doing a 2/5 on you and you're wincing." Not sure I wanted self defense lessons during my massage. And then he only did the left side of my arm and leg and not my right, so I was all uneven. Finally, he wraps a hot towel fully around my neck and says "you're handling this like a champ".... Unsure how to respond to that. Honestly parts of this massage had me feeling like I was being pranked, or that I was a part of an SNL skit. My girlfriend and I took a little trip to this spa for our 2-year anniversary and we both agreed it was well worth it. Upon arrival we were told to go change and to meet in the "serenity room" where they had a nice coconut water, as well as other beverages, and snacks! My girlfriend opted for the regular Swedish massage and I got the sports deep tissue massage. While my girlfriend said hers was amazing, I would have liked a little more firm of a massage, but it definitely didn't make the massage bad at all! I loved this place the moment I walked in. The spa gave a nice ambience. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. They gave a complimentary generous cheese platter for my husband's birthday. The locker rooms were very clean and the robes were super comfy. The waiting area was very relaxing and the spa water was a nice touch. My husband said his massage therapist was the best he ever had (and he's very picky). The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt a little cheated with our massage time. My therapist wasn't aware I was getting a pre-natal massage and didn't set up the room right and we had to wait for her to fix it. When I checked the time when we got out it was exactly the scheduled time we were supposed to end. After booking online we left 3 messages and sent one email over the course of a week and a half to confirm the massage and possibly purchase add on's and no response. It is amazing statistically speaking how this can be the most expensive couples massage we have ever had and also the absolute worst massage we have ever had. The check in person was unable to confirm that it was a couples massage although we had email confirmation (doesn't get us off to a relaxing start), it started late, my masseuse asked me if there was anything I liked in particular and I asked her that she avoid the sort of guitar plucking technique that I noticed some therapists use and she replied that that is just one of the techniques she uses so she can't promise that she will not do it once she is "in the zone" (huh?), it was the hardest and most painful massage I have ever received and I really love massages on the harder side as we requested deep tissue. My husband's masseuse he said seemed like she wasn't a masseuse at all and was just making up random things, so at this point I am wondering if they didn't have down that this was a couple's massage and just asked a random staff person to fill in? This hour long couples massage was close to 400 bucks. How we left this massage more stressed than we entered is beyond me. This was the absolute worst. I booked the forever friend package which included a scrub, massage, champagne, cheese and crackers. That I think is an amazing deal. You get the full well deserved spa feel. I enjoyed the scrub, my cousin and I were in the same room. You have an option to have separate rooms too. The room was nicely dimmed and soft music played. Since I've gotten a scrub, I simple refuse to get another massage without it. It makes your relaxation even more rewarding. The jacuzzi is big, the Steam room is like any other. Service beyond the front desk was great. We all had a good experience with our massage therapists. Giving only two stars because front desk service unfortunately was very disappointing for the quality one would expect from a 'luxury' spa. We were checked in by 'D' and we felt rushed right away. There wasn't even like alot of people trying to check in and we came 1.5 hrs early for our appointments so we can enjoy amenities. We were a party of 5, we were shown to our lockers and that was it. We had to figure out on our own where and what amenities were available to us, which was fine but would have been nice to be shown around because we totally missed the serenity room until after our massages. What really got me was after we checked out and were waiting in the front area for one more person in our party to come out. We overheard the other front desk person ask a new party of 2 checking in if they were celebrating something special, then offered them a complimentary glass of wine. Well, we were celebrating something too, and we never even were asked or offered the same! I truly hate it when someone makes us feel like we're being discriminated against. Whether intentional or not, it's a terrible feeling. For that reason I will never come back here or recommend. Nevertheless 'D' needs to be retrained on quality customer service. read more

I went with my girlfriends to celebrate a much needed gateway. I was excited about my treatment here. I love massage and I do it every 2 weeks at a spa close to where I live. Here are good things: clean facility Good steam and jacuzzi Now about the treatment: It cost me almost $200. I had to pay 20% gratuity before the treatment. Which is weird. I did a full body massage. I had a horrible experience: My masseuse had cold hands, I asked her if she can warm them, her reply was they will warm up eventually. Super rude. Room was chilly and there is no temperature control in room. I asked for a warmer bed, she said she has turned it on, but it didn't work for 40 mins and only worked for last 10 minutes. The masseuse didn't ask if pressure was okay She snapped at me twice when I was trying to protect myself from cold. She never worked on my lower back. In spite of asking for not working on shoulder she kept at it. This was nowhere close to a relaxation. I was stuck in a cold room shivering. I complained at front desk about my experience and they offered me to take a glass of bubbly for a bad experience. Which was ridicules. Front desk was rude. She said masseuse couldn't do everything coz 50 mins is not enough. Then why the heck offer such a service. Please save your money and don't go. What a waste of my time and money. read more

The spa is beautiful. The atmosphere from the moment you walk in sets you in the mood for relaxation. I have been here a couple of times, but my last experience was mixed. While the spa is still amazing, the service I received was regrettable. I have never had a more disappointing massage in my life. I have thought about what made it so disappointing and it has to be the technique that was used and the fact that the person performing the massage apparently had had garlic to eat recently. The person used their elbow for most of the massage. When I was asked if it was too much pressure, I informed them no, because it did not hurt, but it also didn't feel good at all (hence why I think it was technique). The worst part was I was sore within a couple of hours (I had plenty of water). I could barely sleep that night, that is how sore I was and the soreness lasted for 3 days. One amazing thing I want to give credit to is the sauna. Oh my goodness, amazing. The staff in the locker rooms are also great. My friend who was also there for the same type of massage had a great experience and was not sore at all. My next time there I will make sure to ask for someone else. read more

This is a long overdue review for their spa. I've only been to one other spa in Napa but after the headache I have gone through there it's made me further appreciate what a great place Spa Terra is. I've been to Spa Terra several times for either a regular massage or a pregnancy massage. Every single time I can say the massages were consistently one of the better ones that I've had. My go to spa is Burke Williams (for both the amenities and treatments) and by comparison The Meritage is as lush but with a smaller, Napa feel. You enter into what looks like a wine cellar but is a hidden retreat / cave. It's so enclosed that it really sets for that calm, relaxing atmosphere. My main issue with Spa Terra is that it's a bit small so you may have to wait for shower or vanity mirror space when getting changed. When I went for a bachelorette party though, with a group of 8, we did not feel overly cramped and I was impressed with how well they accommodated to all of us. There is a small jacuzzi and waiting area although I don't believe either are co-ed. My favorite treatment was packaged body scrub with pregnancy massage. I was 7 months pregnant at the time and the body scrub was not only relaxing but it made my skin feel so smooth. I was really appreciative of how gentle they were too, during the scrub, making sure I was comfortable and helping support me as I had to move during the scrub. I fell in love with their cabernet grape seed lotion to the point I bought some while checking out. Beware the Spa Boutique when you check out, lost of cute but pricey things to add to your bill! The one caveat I have to my review is that it's been a couple years since my last visit so seeing many of the recent 1 star reviews I wonder if there has been a change in service. I recently contacted Spa Terra for group reservations and they were professional, friendly and responsive so based on that experience alone (and the comparison to my recent Mais Oui experience) I'd be for sure willing to try this place again. read more

Well, the grounds of the Meritage are beautiful. It's a hidden gem, like its own small village resort. The look of the spa is great, very cool concept of it being like a cavern literally under the vineyards. Signage was good, everything looked clean. The atmosphere is fantastic overall, very luxurious and peaceful. So why only two stars? Well, I had the worst massage of my life here. And I have had a lot of massages. I did a 50 minute deep tissue, and the therapist seemed like she had never given a professional massage in her life. First we went over that I'd like the focus to be on my neck and upper back. She spent 90% of the time on my arms, legs, and feet. And I could not even call it a massage, it was like she was simply touching me and moving her arm a little. Or wedging her arm between my back and the table and then just lying there like that. I was laying there thinking 'when is the massage going to start'? And before I knew it the session was over. My cat kneads me on the couch and it literally feels more like a massage. Someone gives me a 2 minute neck massage at home and it feels better. She did zero actual massaging, it was like a very light rubbing, awful technique. This was supposed to be deep tissue? It was so disappointing and frustrating because it really ruined the day. Three other negatives: the music in the treatment room was extremely loud, to the point of the speaker getting distorted at times. I couldn't relax. The serenity lounge, where you wait for your therapist, is pretty small and gets crowded quickly. They don't seem to stagger appointments so everyone is in there all at once. After my bad treatment I went back in the lounge but it was completely full so I left. I did hear some noise during my treatment - staff banging around in the other room or something. Someone else in my party said they had an average massage there - not the best not the worse. I complained at check out and the manager took the feedback well and did give me a small discount but honestly it was still too expensive for what I got and cannot recommend it. On the positive side, I really appreciate that this is one of the few places that allow you to lounge at the pool afterwards - although it was a little noisy at times. The locker rooms, jacuzzi, sauna are nicely appointed. I may come back one day and try a massage with someone else. Main takeaway: beautiful place, but they need better massage therapists. read more

Massage was just ok. Afterwards you have access to the relaxation room that has tea, coconut water, and mixed nuts. the jacuzzi and steam room is unfortunately not for both genders. With the service at the Meritage resort being as amazing as it was I was expecting my experience at Spa Terra to be top notch, unfortunately it it fell very short of my expectations. I was in Napa for a girls weekend and booked a 50 minute massage for my friend and myself. I like to fancy myself a conissuer of spas and treatments, spending more than I probably should on spa treatments and was super excited to give Spa Terra a try. The Good: - The Spa itself is beautiful and I loved the cave entrance. -The Food: The spa dishes were pretty good as well. The Not So Good: -When booking I requested an 80 minute massage for my friend and a 50 minute massage for myself. I was told that was available. 5 minutes later (after already putting my credit card # on hold) I receive a call back saying that both massages would have to be 50 minutes and one would have to start a half hour after the other. I don't understand why I couldn't have been told this before I booked. -They were out of spa robes in our size, so we had to wear XL ones. -There were nothing but low end products such as tresseme in the locker room. You would think for the price they charge they could use higher end products. -After finishing our spa lunch we ordered a third dish. After a half an hour passed we returned to the front desk to ask about the whereabouts of our food and were told that since it was close to closing time the food would have to be packed to go. Once again, I wish I would have been notified about this up front, so that I wouldn't have ordered it. -The massage was nothing special, and although it wasn't bad, it felt more like something you could get at massage envy or a reflexology place in the mall. At some points in the massage my massuese was just resting his hands on top of my scalp or back for over a minute, like no pressure just resting. -None of the customer service we received was exceptional. -No little chocolates or snacks in the relaxation room Maybe I'm just spoiled by spas in San Francisco such as Senspa or Spa Radiance who offer less amenities (no steam room or jacuzzi) but offer far superior service. I felt absolutely every aspect of this spa was bad to mediocre from the booking to the service itself. Also, I felt that some of the staff were somewhat curt and less than hospitable. I don't mind paying over $100 for a 50 minute massage, but I do expect to receive an over $100 experience with every aspect of my experience being exceptional. This spa either needs to lower its prices or raise its level of customer service and products. A spa like this would not fare well in a city like San Francisco or Vegas. I don't tend to nitpick and can usually understand if one thing doesn't go right, but for the price tag too many aspects of experience were off. read more

My husband and I got a 50 min couples massage a couple weeks ago. We got there a half an hour early and waited in their relaxation room. Our masseuse didn't arrive until 5 minutes into our appointment time (3:05pm). They took us to the couples room, allowed us time to settle ourselves on the massage table and a few minutes later came back. At this point, it was already 12 minutes into our massage time. Fast forward, the massage was okay. My masseuse focused on the areas I wanted him to, which was nice. When it ended, i looked at the clock and it was 3:48pm. So if you do the math correctly, I paid $160 (including tip) for a 36 minute massage. I was a bit disappointed so I asked the front desk and they indeed affirm that the 50 minute includes not only the massage time, but the time they pick you up to when you get yourself on the table. I absolutely loved my experience at the Spa Terra, Meritage Resort. I came here with two very good friends of mine as a rest and relaxation day before the hustle and bustle of a very beautiful wedding. We arrived early to take advantage of the spa and sauna amenities and it was a wonderful way to begin our day of well-deserved relaxation and girlfriend bonding time. We didn't explore the sauna but we did get pruney in the spa while we waited for our massages. Then, we went to chill in the relaxation room. I poured myself some orange-infused water and relaxed in my plush robe for a few minutes while I waited for my masseuse. I can't recall her name but she was FABULOUS. She had a nice firm handshake (good sign) so I was optimistic that she would give a nice, tough massage. And she did! She asked how the pressure was which I always appreciate. I decided to get the swedish massage, instead of the deep tissue (the choice of my other two friends) and I was left feeling relaxed and tension-less. The bathroom/locker area was very clean and they had all sorts of amenities (mouth wash, hair dryers, showers, shampoo, etc.) for one to freshen up with following the massage. The only thing I did NOT appreciate was, on their website, they state that it is "customary" to tip 20% for your massage. There was no caveat that the tip was dependent on the service you received or anything. Just a plain, straight..."you better tip 20%". I don't appreciate being told how much to tip, especially when I wholeheartedly believe that tipping in the US is way over-rated. And if you add 20% onto a $100 massage, that adds up. I did tip (15%) but I think that tipping should be left to the discretion of the client and not an obligatory notion. Other than than that, a solid 5 stars. I would gladly return upon my next trip to Napa, just don't tell me what to tip. read more

What small things this spa is lacking the actual services surpass all expectations. The cave spa is nice - women's lockeroom area very clean and well laid out. There is no sauna, but a large steam room and hot tub. - the cons: lack of amenities (plastic bags for wet bathing suits), hooks on bathroom doors for robe, clearly marked spot of used brushes. The hot tub temp was WAY too high - red/pink skin means its BURNING. Only kids books to read in relaxtion room. - the pros: Great robes, nice lockers, steam room is really good. The relaxtion room where you wait before services is nice - big comfy chairs, blankets. THE SERVICES. And isnt the actual spa service the most important thing to get right anyway? My sister claimed to have one of the best massages ever here. My 50 min Euro facial was very good - not much massaging but the focus was on my face and all that could be done for it in 50 minutes - Cindy did an awesome job. The dressing room/women's only area with a sauna and hot tub is pretty spacious and very clean. The only complaint I have is how small the waiting/relaxation room is. I normally go on a weekday to avoid the crowds, but I did visit on a Saturday and there was no where to sit when I was waiting for my masseuse. Other than that I really have no complaints. I had one of the worst massages at Spa Terra. I was scheduled for a deep tissue massage. I did not have a deep tissue massage. I explained to my massage therapist in the beginning of my appointment that I wanted a lot of pressure. During my appointment, I even told my massage therapist I wanted more pressure and got nothing. It was so light, it didn't even feel like she was doing anything. It was a complete disappointment. If you like a beautiful location, this is the place for you. But if you want an actual massage, you shouldn't go here. Plus there's an automatic 20% gratuity added on.. I have no problem paying that much for an adequate job. I hope that my situation is unique and not all of their staff is trained like this. Update: I emailed the spa with many details to my massage experience. A manager called me and I missed their call. I have been trying to purchase a gift certificate but the concierge is not very helpful in this process. Yes that's right, I'm a fan. If I'm going to pay $400 for an afternoon of spa for me and my gf, you better make me a fan. Anyway is Spa Terra nice, it definitely is. I haven't been to many Spas but I this one made me relax. Upon getting to the resort, you have to go through the hotel before getting to the spa/winery. The spa is located in a cave underground which gives you a secluded feeling you are far from the bustling city (in a way you are because you're in Napa). After checking in and changing, they asked you to wait in the waiting room (they had a specific name). The room offers couches and sofas with a wall where water runs down. It is extremely soothing and relaxing to sit and wait there. In fact, one day I'm just going to have a room like that in my house. But in all seriousness, their soft music, combined with the dim lighting and the water running, we fell asleep for a bit. We did the Seduction Package which offered a dip in couple's jacuzzi and massages. The jacuzzi was kind of tacky because it offered colored light which would change colors and then stop but it just felt like I was in Reno or some place where they had to use cheap lights to enhance your experience. However if you turn off the light and just enjoy the dip with the candle lights and the music, it's a pretty romantic experience. In addition they give you champagne and chocolates. So if you want to make your someone special happy then definitely try this out. The massages: the massage was so good and relaxing that it went by way too quickly. Hot towels that wrap your feet, a warm bed to ease your muscles, and masseuse that is there to cater to your needs. The men's locker room was pretty much empty which was great for me. I'm not a big fan of sharing the steam room with too many other people. The shower stalls offered rain fall shower heads but they didn't have the regular shower heads which made cleaning certain parts of your body a bit harder lol. On a side note, the gf told me the women's locker room was busy. I always have a hard time of relaxing but the environment at Spa Terra allows you to with their atmosphere, services, and lack of cell phone service. I would most definitely come back but definitely not in the near future since it is pretty pricey. I'm taking away one star because of the tackiness in the tub and lack of sauna in the locker room. read more

Pros: Probably the ULTIMATE spa experience!!! Wow, this place does it all! You get your little locker to suit up with your robe and slippers. The men's room has all the amenities you could possibly need from combs to hair spray to mouth wash. The shower is simply mind blowing. Water is literally hitting you from the top and from three other directions around you! Craziness. I hit up the steam room that's big enough to have a little dance party or sleep in. Their cucumber water is delicious as I relaxed and took a little nap before my massage appointment. You can check in and use the hot tub before your massage. Then my wife and I went to our private hot tub here they have some chocolates and champagne as you chill in their bubble tub for 30 minutes. Then the massage girls come in and do their amazing magic with a 50 minute body massage... heavenly. There are also snacks like trail mix and apples too! The inside of the private room looks like something you see in League of Assassins (reference from "The Arrow") inside a cave with little candles... pretty cool. Cons: Because this is the ultimate spa experience, you pay a high premium for this place... almost $200 a person after gratuity and tax. For the most part I really had a nice experience at Spa Terra. Located in a man-made cave, the spa is tranquil and serene, everything you hope a spa to be. Why not 4 or 5 stars? The service is lacking and THEY DID NOT HONOR THEIR YELP OFFER!!!!! The Yelp offer states that yelpers get 20% of a 50-minute mid-week service. Apparently, this is ONLY when they are slow. The discount is given at staff's discretion. Since they were busy the day I went they offered to extend 15%. Don't offer things you aren't going to provide. I spoke with the hotel manager and it was rectified. Still not cool. I went earlier in the day to check it out and asked for a quick tour. The girl at the front, whose name I did not get, cheerfully showed me around the spa. When I came back later in the afternoon to check-in for my service she asked me if I remembered where the locker room was and when I told her I did she sent me back there. She did not tell me where to get a key for my locker, how to get the right size slippers or anything of the sort. As I headed to the locker room one of the more seasoned employees caught up to me and explained where my size slippers were and how to use the lockers. I would have been totally in the dark without her assistance. I used the hot tub and steam room and enjoyed all of the amenities Spa Terra provided. It was a very relaxing experience. I went to the waiting area prior to my massage where I found quite a few robe clad individuals waiting for theirs. What the uber helpful girl at the front forgot to tell me was that the area in there was co-ed. I was a little startled to find and older gentleman laying on the couch in his bathrobe snoring. I appreciate the fact that he was relaxed and enjoying his spa experience. I did not however appreciate the fact that he took away from mine. The staff should not have allowed this. It was uncomfortable and annoying. The massage itself was FABULOUS!!!!! Lauren was incredibly talented and made the experience relaxing and enjoyable. She was the best! I highly recommend her. I was a little offended that tip envelopes were left on the counter as if to remind patrons (if you have to remind people to tip they are no longer guests) to tip the employees. I too worked in the service industry and understand the importance of tipping. They add on 18% standard gratuity when charging your card/room. My massage was so good that I asked them to add 20% on. Good service should be rewarded. I really WANTED to tip the woman who tidied the spa area and replenished towels. It was the holidays and I wanted to spread holiday cheer. The thing was...she not once smiled. I smiled at her. Nothing. Maybe she had a bad day? I don't know. I had a $5 in my hand and was ready to put it in hers and just couldn't do it. Tips are given when you provide good customer service. Overall...the massage was great!!! Facilities were really nice (minus the guy snoring in the waiting lounge)! Service lacked. My mom, sister, and I come here every November to celebrate my mom's birthday. Here is why we come here year after year (it's been about 4 years): - Having an appointment for a service means you have access to their spa facilities all day long. We typically get here 60-90 minutes before our service and soak in the hot tub or enjoy the steam room for a while. Unlike other spa hot tubs, this one is always hot! I've been to other spas where they charge extra to use the hot tub, or the hot tub is located right at the center of the place, so it gets loud. At Spa Terra, the women's spa (which can seat about 8 people comfortably) is located in the back of the women's locker room, where it's quiet and tranquil. The steam room is also hot and is actually quite big ... It can probably fit 20 people! - Their "serenity room" is truly relaxing. It's always quiet enough for a brief nap. They even provide blankets. The chairs are comfortable, and there always seems to be one available. - The bathroom and showers are always clean, and they have thought of every product you might need. - The availability of cucumber water, iced tea, hot tea, fresh apples, and trail mix are a nice touch. - The staff is always friendly and patient. Whether it's the front desk, the ladies who keep the towels fresh, the massage therapist, or the esthetician, everyone I have met is very professional. - The underground cave is pretty cool! No cell service, but you shouldn't be on your devices anyways! - All services are consistently good. I've gotten both massages and facials here and had good experiences with both. The rooms are clean, the music is soft, and the lighting is just right. - Prices are high, but they accept the Spa Finder gift card. So stop at your nearest Costco to pick those up first ($79 for $100 in gift cards). The gratuity can't come off the gift card, though. I'll preface this review with a concession that my massage was pretty good and the facilities are really nice. Aside from this, my experience with Spa Terra was awful. They hardly ever answer the phone or return calls so booking a treatment was almost impossible. In fact, I actually had to come in person just to book my treatments. The girls at the front desk are rude and incompetent, arguing with me when I came in person to book my treatment that they had answered the phone and made my reservation but then couldn't find it. The spa manager offered champagne and a discount for the nightmare of booking, which I appreciated but did not make the best first impression. On the day of our massage everything went according to plan except our massage therapists forgot the scalp treatments we paid for. We left the resort and never received a call or any follow up from the spa manager about this mix up. I decided to call back and at least get the scalp treatments refunded but once again the spa front desk couldn't be bothered to answer the phone and when I finally got through to someone they told me the manager would call me back. I then asked "when because getting in touch has been pretty difficult" to which I got a curt "well this is a busy day spa so it'll be whenever she gets a chance". I waited for over 24 hours and never heard back, which wasn't surprising but extremely disappointing because anyone should be able to refund a service that they "forgot" to provide! I then called the Meritage front desk and spoke to a guest relations manager who was able to refund my scalp treatment for me. A few days later I got a call back from Ruby, the spa manager, who just asked me how my treatment was, leaving me to address all the problems rather than her taking accountability. This woman and her team need some help on the customer service front. I'm not coming back any time soon and with the number of really nice day spas around the Napa Valley will not be referring anybody here either. read more

Came here on Saturday - we had booked a couples massage and was asked to come 30 mins ahead of time. It really is like walking through a cave here. It's built underneath a hillside - so when you walk in, the spa will be to your left and a tasting room on your right. We were greeted and promptly checked i and shown the locker rooms. The ladies locker room was really nice - very clean and lots of clean towels around. There is a hairdryer, q-tips, cotton ball and some other small amenities you can use. The back of the locker room has a soaking tub/hot tub and a steam room where you can sit and relax before or after your massage. The coed waiting room has a beautiful waterfall with lots of couches and chairs there. They have tea and water for you to drink as well. The massage itself was pretty good. It was really relaxing and she checked up on me to see if the pressure was good and to see if I am doing fine. But for the price that we paid ($115 for 50 min) there are many comparable places in the city that has more amenities, serve snacks, fruit, or even champange! It's a little more pricey - but we were in Napa. There are 3 showers and 1 changing room in the ladies locker room - and one of the showers had 13 shower heads! I really thought that shower was pretty fantastic! BF says that the mens locker room is also very similar with the soak tub, steam and the showers. As a connoisseur of fine massage, I am delighted to report that the massage I had the one time I will ever go here was simply sublime and satisfactory in every way. I took one star off because they are so terribly ridiculously overpriced. I paid $130 for 50 minutes of deep tissue. And I removed a second star because the therapist that did such wonderful work on me is grossly UNDER paid. I ALWAYS ask spa therapists how much of my money they get. I was appalled when the therapist answered "18% plus tips." That's $23.40 of the $130 I paid. I understand that high end spas with fancy amenities charge more. But they should pass some of that on to the people that actually do the work. I paid $10 extra for deep tissue, but the therapist who worked harder to provide the deep tissue massage got only $1.80 more for his effort. I find that atrocious. The therapist should get the whole $10! The spa gave me NOTHING more for providing deep tissue massage, but the therapist did, and the spa took 82% of that fee. Sickening. The spa is beautiful and relaxing and luxurious and unscrupulous. read more
