Love this spa! I was a little skeptical at first given it's all in a cave but I loved it! So relaxing and the staff was wonderful. I had a massage and a facial, both therapists were very professional and friendly. The products they use are really nice too. The room where you wait for your treatments is awesome, they have these big fluffy chairs and super soft blankets. I was curled up in there with my book for awhile. The only think I found strange is that if you order a Spa Lunch, you eat it out in the hallway which I think is strange. read more

However, this being Valentine's Day, my wife's happiness is more important than my needs. We got a package deal which included a secluded jacuzzi for 25 minutes, a 50 minute massage (together in same room) then a facial. The jacuzzi was very nice - with chocolates and a glass of champagne. The massage therapist was nice enough to ask if the pressure was just right and adjusted accordingly. Next the facial - well, lets say it was excellent, but I should've known when she said "extraction" that wasn't going to be pleasant. And I now know why they cover your face when they do that part - so you can't flinch too much when she goes to exctract the next blackhead. Luckily for me I didn't have that many! But at the end my face was nice and smooth and felt better. Again, not something I would do all that often, but for what it was it was excellent and highly recommended. Loved the Spa, but I felt my treatment was rushed. I paid for a 50 min. massage and a facial refresher, but it only took 50 mins for everything. Also, when I started the treatment, I had a stuffy nose and was worried that it would get worst, so I asked my therapist if it was ok and she said I would be fine. After the treatments she hands me a glass of water and say, " You'll probably feel worst tomorrow because of the massage, but just drink plenty of water, rest, and you'll be fine." WTF! The space is lovely though. You can hang out in the lounge, by the hot tub, or in the steam room before and after your treatments. (Cost $120 each) Inside you feel like you're in a cave and the vibe is very relaxing. I would have to say after the horrible check in experience this is a plus for The Meritage. Had a wonderful experience here. I booked a reservation months in advance for a group of 8 girls for a bachelorette spa day. Communication (via email) was easy. It's in a cave with no cell service which probably helps you really just relax and not do anything with the outside world. It felt relaxing from the moment you entered. We were escorted to the locker room and got ready for our treatments. We changed into our robes and slippers and when we came back out our masseuses were waiting for us and called us each by name for our treatment. I had the summertime bliss massage and loved it! After our massages, we made use of the jacuzzi and eucalyptus steam room which is located in the back of the locker room. The showers are complete with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and lotion. They also had blow dryers available, so basically they had everything you need! The whole experience was relaxing from start to end and we really enjoyed our time there! read more

I'm a spa snob - yes i know. I hold all spas so the JW Marriott Scottsdale Standard. The visit was 5 ladies for a bday celebration Loved the fact that this is hidden in a cave. It was so fun walking down to the spa. Check in - they were waiting on us - we called a head since we were 15 mins late arriving. We each had booked a couple of services so we hurried in changed. The lockers were the ones where you set your own combo. Steam room, hot tub, 3 showers, vanity spa with hairdryers, q tips, lotion and spray deodorant. No hair products other than hairspray. And the the fact that you are at a high end spa gets lost with all the labels on stuff saying 'spa property'. Robes seem plush and luxurious but I had a sizing problem. I asked fro a larger robe and they told me they didn't have one. I was embarrassed, I know I'm not the thinnest woman out there but measurements of 46-40-46 you would think the 5XL robe would fit wouldn't you? They didn't even offer me a mens robe! I spent the time walking around holding the robe together at the crotch since the relaxation area was co-ed. UGHH! The stone massage IO had was fabulous - even tho we were late and I only got about 35 minutes of it I was relaxed as if I had been there 2 hours. Next I had the espresso facial - just what I needed. Our group ended up staying in the relaxation room a lot. We enjoyed the the waterfall and great place to meet others and make plans for the rest of the day. The bummers - For the bday girl we had the package that included a wine and cheese tray. We had to ask 3 times of it. Why couldn't it had been offered to her? We mentioned several times to the front desk it was a surprise, why couldn't they have it for her after her last service? Lunch - we ordered lunch and were told 15 - 20 minutes later 45 minutes later it arrived. Overall, I'd probably skip this spa and try one in the city for the next big girls outing. Great time at Meritage. Loved the bowling there, wine tasting was amazingly enjoyable and great service there. Wanted to try the spa with my daughter but they said she was too young. Which I totally understand. Only huge problem was that our room was right above the courtyard and there was a big party there that didn't end past 3am. Did not get much sleep that night. We called to complain around 11pm and were told the party would end by midnight. Which it didn't. Wish the windows to the courtyard were thicker. I had requested a different room but it would have been a downgraded room. Went bike riding around the property perimeter and was chased by some turkeys. That was actually kind of fun. Beautiful property!! Big biking community so if you like to bike, this is perfect for you. read more

I had the duetto package which is a facial and a massage. I visited the spa on a Monday and I went by myself. First: fantastic facility. Clean. Private. And a cool cave feel. The women's lounge was a little cold but the jacuzzi and steam room were a quick warm up. Steam room was average. The essential oils they spray are incredibly intoxicating. I could have stayed in the serene it jacuzzi pool all day. Second: massage was nice. Throty (sp?) was spot on with her pressure and professionalism. I have massages frequently and this Swedish massage was a great way to start my day. Third: facial. I can't say enough great things about the facial. Christy is knowledgable and is direct with the way she treats skin. Most facials I get are more like a face massage but this one is explained in depth about what is going on the skin and what she is pulling out. Extraction kicked my ass but today I am loving how smooth my skin is. Fourth: All the people are kind and I enjoyed staying at the spa for the day. I read half a book and rebelled in the fact I was alone and could enjoy silence. I was bummed that they didn't have the product I wanted to purchase from my facial but they wrote the name down so I could look around. Fantastic spa for winter since it is all inside. read more

Went in for a couples massage and had a pleasant experience. As others have stated, it was difficult to get a call back. However, after a few attempts on my end I successfully was booked. Manuel took care of me and I believe Yesenia took care of my honey. He and I were welcomed with integrity and calm demeanor's. The helpful lady showed me around the ladies room, but my honey did not get the guided tour I did in the mens room. The relaxation room is exactly that...relaxation room. I did ask the gal who booked us if we would be able to accompany one another in the Jacuzzi room, which was not arranged. Now after our trip I have seen private rooms with the massage tables and Jacuzzi tub joined. Bummer....that was our sole purpose of booking. Stayed at the Vino Bello (next door - see my hotel review) and had to check this place out since we got a Travelzoo discount package ($195 Blend Massage+ for $95). Because our package was for 50 mins, I wanted to upgrade to 80. I figured they would just have me pay the difference between a 50 and 80 min massage. Nope. They made me pay for a separate 30 minute (which is more, of course). I have to knock them down one star for not being accommodating. So the place is definitely cool. It's at the back of the Meritage Hotel and into the hillside. After the usual check in process (fill out form with any medical concerns), they take you into the spa area. She led us to our changing rooms where there are separate lockers with steam/shower/hot tub areas. It was very inviting. Since I was with my gf, I would have preferred something we both could relax together, but it's not set up that way. You can do the private hot tub as part of a couple's package. Next time. So after changing into rob and slipper, you head to the relaxation room. There I almost fell asleep. Relaxing with water wall and nuts/fruit to munch on. Soon enough, our therapists showed up. BTW, part of your cost includes using the facilities all day. So that allows you to steam sauna to your heart's content. The couples room was very cozy (with a tub if you choose that package). Both masseuses were excellent. The blend massage includes some Swedish with deep tissue. I really like that combo. For me, Swedish is not deep enough and the deep tissues can be too deep. This was so good I actually felt myself fall asleep, which I normally don't do. Because each room is like a cave, it echoes. The floors are tiled, so when they walk or roll their chair, it makes a lot of noise. Even all that, it was still one of our best massages around. I had Christina. My gf couldn't remember her therapist's name. A bit pricey if you don't have any discount. It does feel like you're in a different place when you're there, so some of the cost justifies that. read more

My husband and I were really looking forward to coming here since its in Napa. We were here the weekend after Valentines Day and before my birthday. When coming in for a relaxing spa day, you'd expect ultimate peace. When we came here on a Sunday afternoon, it was nothing but relaxing and peaceful. First, we couldn't find the place. After walking around and around the hotel or plaza or whatever this place is, we realized the spa was being covered by a large crowd of drunk, loud people. Apparently, there was a wedding? Why that many people were crowding the spa is beyond me. After having to push our way through the crowd, we finally got into the spa. I really really liked the atmosphere and the caves they created. It was comforting and definitely relaxing. .However, I did not appreciate all those people hovering right out front. My husband and I had the seduction package which includes a nice hot bubble bath, two glasses of champagne and two pieces of chocolate. It was a little awkward having the bubble soak before the massages because the lady had to come in and tell us it was time to get out. Maybe it would be better if they did the bubble soak after the massage.The two pieces of chocolate and champagne was kind of a waste of money. The massage was nice. My husband felt that his masseuse was inexperienced. She was talking quite a lot for a masseuse... like asking him way too many questions and i heard her constantly changing the table level... geez, way to ruin a relaxing moment. After our massages, we gave each other another 30 min to chill in the hot tub/sauna before we go home... when I went into the dressing room which is connected to the hot tub, it was filled with women! And not quiet women either... there was like a bridal party in there. WTF! They completely took over everything... the hot tub and the sauna... there was no room for one more person like me. ugh. why would spa terra do this? it completely ruined everything. Also, I think its weird that you have to pay for everything including 20% gratuity BEFORE your appointment. And they say that MOST of that 20% goes to the masseuse, shouldn't all of the gratuity go the masseuse? Really weird. Over all, experience was pretty bad. This spa and the staff here are FANTASTIC! It's my favorite relaxation spot. The cave and soothing waterfalls, music, and lighting are exactly what you'd expect for a day of pampering. And when I say Therapist, I mean it. I have never experienced a massage that was so healing. I felt very fortunate to be paired with him. The spa itself is so very, very relaxing. The woman's dressing rooms and locker area are beautiful and immaculately maintained. The Robes are so clean and soft and felt like new. We have been coming here for the past four years and our experience has been hit or miss. Our first two years of coming here were amazing. We always had really great massage experiences. Even my maternity massage was amazing, I had a male I can't remember his name since it was so long ago but he was so knowledgeable and actually gave me a real massage for being pregnant. This last time I went (I was pregnant) the room was freezing, the lady who gave me my massage was wearing a scarf! I couldn't even relax I was shaking the whole time. This 5 star review is for the spa and the facilities that are made available to you while utilizing the spa. The hotel is in a weird spot- just off the freeway- not in your quintessential wine country location but it is on a small vineyard. Free coffee is made available in the lobby, and there is a trail throughout the small vineyard that you can peruse through with a hot cup of java in hand. The pool area feels lush- lounge chairs, being at the foot of the vineyard and base of the "spa cave" makes it such a special setting. Going into the cave for a spa treatment is magical- Once walking in the cave you have totally entered another world. Dim lighting, whispers make echos and a seemingly enclosed haven. The women's changing room is luxurious. Plush robes, elaborate vanity and cozy changing rooms. The cave opens up into a resting/ relaxation area where there is a jacuzzi/ steam room with a lounge area and water wall. This enclose space feels like you are deep in a cavern away from society! Take breaks to sip on cucumber water and wipe down with damp towels. After some R&R its time for you to get in your robe and head to the waiting area. The waiting area is done in another area of the cave and is decorated in an antique blueish- very calming color! While you wait there are giant over stuffed chairs with footstools. I booked the Eat, Spa, Love package for my BF and I as an anniversary celebration. The cave concept was cool and there's a tasting room inside as well. Once we checked in, I had told the woman that we wanted our cheese and fruit plate along with our wine delivered at 1pm, before our 2pm appointment. She acknowledged it but apparently forgot to put it in the system so that when 1pm came, other couples got their trays but we were left sitting there for 10 minutes before we had to ask what happened to ours. They didn't bring the tray until 1:40pm, after we checked with them a 2nd time (the woman proceeded to say they were just waiting for the sandwich...that we never ordered!?). Because we had to be in the waiting area 5 minutes prior to our appointment, we only had 10 minutes to scarf down our food and wine, with no apologies given. Btw, the area where you sit and eat is so poorly situated - you're sitting in the middle of the long hallway, half naked in your spa robe, where the highest foot traffic occurs so staff and other people checking into the spa walk by frequently. The masseur used waayyy too much pressure even after I told him several times to use less pressure. It stressed me out more than relaxed me because it hurt!! The 15 minute refresher facial was a joke as he used his rough fingers to apply the same cream to my face 3 times in a row. Apply, spread, wipe X 3. I question whether he even knew anything about skincare. For a spa of this price, I'd much prefer Burke Williams. read more

It's the stuff of dreams, so much so that I left with a bottle in tow. Cindy's extractions were no-nonsense (and really a picnic), but know that she offsets the sting with a gentle, nurturing massage you won't want stopped. That's where the magic of a great facial happens - in the deft hands of an expert masseuse. This is what made the service so, so impressive as the pressure and technique in her face-neck-and-shoulder massage can go as light or as deep as needed. The invigorating treatment significantly increases blood circulation and helps to relieve tight muscles and headaches (from the overload of wine, of course!). We decided it was not worth getting the massage however they told us we would still be charged the full price even if they did not perform the service. They never told us their policy when we made the reservation over the phone. Needless to say, they fraudulently charged my credit card and I disputed. The credit card company refunded my money because (1) no service was provided (2) they had no signature or proof that we agreed to their terms or cancellation policy. I decided to book a spa day for my bf and I during our visit to Napa. Spa Terra came up on Yelp as a favorite amongst spa patrons so I quickly booked a spa package for us. I wanted the "seduction" package which included a 20 min soak in one of their huge hot tubs and then a couples massage. I was told that the hot tub was not working but they could offer us some champagne and chocolates at no charge and can book a couples massage for us. When we arrived, we were greeted and given the tour of the facilities. My bf mentioned something about not getting any champagne or chocolates like we were promised, which should have been a red flag. We got changed and met in the waiting room and were quickly greeted by our massage therapists. We walked down the hall to the room and I turned around to find my bf missing. No where to be seen. I assumed he was taken into a different room than mine. I was a bit confused but by that time I figured it was too late to change or say something as it would cut into our massage. The massage was great. I got a deep tissue for the both of us and my therapist worked my sore back. No complains there. After we were done, I quickly went up to the reception area and asked if I had booked a single massage or a couple massage. I was told I had booked a single massage. I told the receptionist that I had booked a couples massage via email and also confirmed it with my credit card when I had called in. The receptionist looked back at the email and found that I was supposed to be given the chocolates/champagne and couples massage. She then was nice enough to give me a 10% discount off the bill as well as the goodies. I was not expecting the discount but gladly accepted as they did kinda ruin my vision of a romantic couples massage. The next day we were told that we could use the steam room and showers since we were patrons of the hotel. When we checked in, we were told that we could not and we could only use it during the day of our appointment. I told them that the hotel told us that we could. After a few minutes of going back and forth, they let us back in to use the facilities. My only gripe about this was that the hotel told us something and the spa told us something different. They should get their facts straight before saying anything to hotel guests. The massage- 4 stars. The facilities- 4 stars. The service- 3 stars. I still recommend a visit however, triple confirm and make sure they got your service down correctly. Otherwise your romantic weekend could be in trouble. read more
