My coworkers got me and my husband a gift card for our wedding - enough for the Seduction Package. We tried it out today and had a wonderful experience. Staff was polite and friendly, facilities were well-appointed and stocked with just about everything we could possibly need, and the treatments (bubble bath with champagne & chocolates followed by couples' massage) were great. We also had full use of the rest of the place for the remainder of the day if wanted. It's in a cave so it's very quiet and dark and tranquil....and right next door is a wine tasting room (tasting right after a massage makes for a very loopy Heather - yay!). I came to Spa Terra for an impromptu visit when I knew I was going to have the meeting from Hades in the am. I scheduled a Tension Tamer massage from Jessica and it was amazing. It really exceeded my expectations and was so relaxing. All the staff were attentive and kind. Most importantly they really encouraged gently through tasteful signage to be soft voiced and quiet. It was so serene and quiet. Others were quiet and it gave you permission to relax and not feel obligated to speak and engage with others. The steam room eucalyptus was vibrant and strong. I went to Crush for lunch after, it was a great end to a rough day. A real lifesaver! read more

I stumbled across a travel zoo offer for a $95 massage. After looking at reviews and seeing the photos that the spa is in a cave I decided to make a special trip over from San Francisco to enjoy a day of pampering and luxury. The women's hot tub area is a little small but it's very nice and since it was a Tuesday it wasn't crowded. The steam room is large and the ceiling rounded. This is a great place to relax. I wish they had a sauna too but that's my only complaint. The locker rooms are nice. The shower and individual change rooms are the best I have seen at any spa. The shower had a rain head, body jets and normal shower head and it was large and it's connected to a small changing area behind a curtain. I am a little modest and don't like running around naked in the women's locker rooms at spa so I found this a nice touch in Spa Terra. Edith was the masseuse and I knew I would love my massage as soon as her hands touched my neck. The pressure was just intense enough to get those terrible knots out of my neck and shoulders. She was good but it was sad when the massage ended. 50 minutes is over already? It went by too fast but I felt like a wet noodle and went back to sit in the hot tub and steam room to enjoy another hour of solitude. Spa Terra is really peaceful. I liked the staff. Everyone smiled and greeted me when they walked by. I also spent an hour by the outdoor pool which is really nice and overlooks the spa and vineyards. I am reviewing for a birthday getaway for me and my friend. I had purchased her a spa package for her birthday... getting to choose any combination of treatments for 10% discount if you wanted to get your own package. I am going to give in "A" for ambiance because this is one of the nicest decor spas I've been at. At the Meritage Resort... this cave spa is located in the back of the resort (near the swimming pool). Walking in there is a wine tasting room to your right and to the left the check-in for the spa. Walking in getting checked in I loved the long corridor hallways and the luxurious spa rooms. This spa really gives you the getaway feeling... The locker rooms, showers, hot tub and steam room were all very private and comfortable. Ok... now to review for my body treatment. I was quite disappointed in the treatment. I ordered the Mare & Terra for myself and the Vino Bello for my girlfriend. We arrived maybe 2-3mins late to our appointment due to HORRENDOUS traffic on a Saturday afternoon coming from SF. I left maybe 2 hours early and still was pinching at the minutes but I still pretty much got there on time. Anyway... the receptionist let us know that the treatment may have to be cut because we were late. I was a bit irritated... we were only late 2-3 minutes... and spending the amount of money that we were for the treatment I wanted every minute to count. So when we got to the locker rooms I stripped down and changed into my robe fast and rushed to the waiting room. When we got there we waited for about 5-10 minutes for our therapists to come. MORE IRRITATED. When they walked us I looked at the clock and we were about 15-20 minutes into our session. She told us we either had the choice to be scrubbed down quickly and spend less time in the wrap or spend the entire time in the wrap with no scrub. I was thinking whats the point of spending time in the wrap if we have nothing on us? Mine as well sit in the sauna! I told her we would rather get the scrub. So when she scrubbed us down... first of all... it was not gentle. The beads and seeds scraped against my skin like rocks. It was not at all relaxing. To scrub my whole body down she might of taken 10 minutes. She wrapped us up and then she proceeded to give us a ONE MINUTE scalp massage. She left the room for about 30 mins. I thought well... if you are just going to leave us here you mine as well gives us a longer massage but NO. They just left. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. When they got back they unwrapped us and told us to hop in the shower to rinse off. When I finished rinsing off they left the lotion in the middle of the room... so we just lotioned ourselves. I could not believe I spent $130 for this body treatment. It was the worst money I ever spent. And to top it all off she asked me how I liked the Vino Bello? Vino Bello? I didn't order that... I ordered the Mare & Terra. After everything and I went to go check-out I asked the receptionist what I had down. She said the Mare & Terra. I asked her why did the therapist said I get the Vino Bello. She called her and asked her and she said "Oh... she was mistaken. She did you give the Mare & Terra." I think they just said that to cover their own a**. Doing the couple body treatment... I watched them do it to me and my girlfriend and it was the same thing. Definitely would not recommend this place based on customer service. Just because of their great location, their beautiful spa, I give them two stars. but its the people that make the business... and my spa experience was a failure. read more

An amazing spa! My daughter and I spent the full day being pampered. The cozy elegance and excellent staff just made our getaway the best! My therapist Kate was fantastic! The concierge, Brenna knew her products and made recommendations that we both enjoyed. I've visited Spa Terra on several occasions throughout the years and have always had great experiences. The atmosphere and serenity pool area is very warm and inviting. You really want to pamper yourself when you're there. I had a massage on Thanksgiving 11/24/16 with a masseuse- first initial being (V) who was very pleasant, but who also had very callused/ chafed hands. There is no way that she doesn't know her hands are chafed. I too, have experienced having chafed hands and am aware of how it feels...scratchy. A suggestion is to hold off on massaging to repair the hands or (and this may be a stretch) but for management to check all hands before a massage. read more

My cousin and I decided to do a spa day during our visit to the wine country. Since Spa Terra got some good reviews we decided to give it a go. The spa isn't really in a cave but once you walk into the spa area it sure feels like you're in a cave. It was so cool. From the long corridors to the curved ceilings it was quite a visual experience. I had the Solo Vino package which included a scrub and massage. The scrub was pretty nice although it did feel a little rushed. Cousin and I had our scrubs done in the same room so I don't know if they both were trying to stay at the same pace, hence the slight rush. It was still pretty good because my skin felt silky smooth. The massage was pretty nice but I wished I would've spoken up to increase the pressure a bit. Afterwards I enjoyed a glass of champagne with some crackers, three kinds of cheese, berries, and a cut of honeycomb. Yes, a honeycomb. It was quite delicious. The spa itself was very beautiful. The quiet room had these comfy chairs with stools and there was a waterfall wall that made it more tranquil. They have a small jacuzzi and a steam room. My favorite part of that afternoon was sitting in the room with the jacuzzi and steam room and taking a nap. With the comfy wicker chair and the room warmed by all the steam it was very relaxing. Customer service was excellent. Prices are standard spa prices so I wasn't shocked by the price or anything. read more

I LOVE this place! I'm so glad that i decided to get my first professional facial here. My family and I go to the resort at least twice a year. I have nothing but GREAT memories here from the pool areas( there are two family and adults) to the beautiful HUGE fireplace in the lobby/reception area, bowling alley and of course the spa! I was a bit nervous about the spa because I had never been to one and didn't know what to expect . The prices were/are high but what did i expect..I'm in Napa and at an AMAZING spa. I guess its true ...you get what you pay for and lordy was i in heaven! The steam room was/is AMAZING! i felt relaxed as soon as i sat down especially since i had it to myself. The serenity room is very relaxing and comfortable. I had the signature facial and i LOVED it! Loved how i was told before each step what was being applied and how it worked...then the next best thing was silence!! lol The individual i had( sadly forgot her name) was gently and extremely professional. I must say this place is at the top of my list and i even had a chance to get a facial at Wine and Roses in Lodi, ca. I've heard nothing but great things about that spa as well . However, Spa Terra is #1 in my book and as of now blows others out of the water. This review is long overdue. I was here for a massage and facial for my birthday in June of 2015. It was one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had. I literally fell asleep in the lounge area after my services. I must have been asleep at least an hour. I can't remember my service providers' names, but I was very pleased with the services. The staff was pleasant, the surroundings were beautiful and the environment was peaceful. I'm returning this weekend for my sister's birthday. I can't wait to relax and enjoy the serenity. read more

I had the opportunity to not only enjoy an overnight stay, but the spa as well. I love the uniqueness of the Caves created to house the spa, gift shop, and wine tasting bar. The massage wasn't "the best ever", but was very nice, what you'd expect from a high end resort. (As in all Resort/Hotel type spas, expect to shell out the big bucks). We didn't need a lot of "cleanup amenities" since we had brought our own and stayed overnight. They offer the basics though. You can relax as long as you like before and after your treatments, and be sure to leave ample time to go outside and enjoy the vineyard view poolside. We stayed until after sunset, ordered dinner and ate by the fire pit. Wonderful! The environment is decadent, relaxing, and will definitely offer a huge "wow factor" to out-of-towners or newbies to the Napa Valley experience. read more

Woo hoo post-wedding de-stress time. The spa itself is nice. T said it was like being in a castle. The reception area was nice, T had never been to a spa before and he didn't know what to do. We had the seduction package - bubble sitting whirlpool and side by side massages. With champagne and chocolates. 2 pieces of chocolate - I had both. The set icy towels for us in casewe got to hot and the tub automatically turned off to let us know it was time to dry off and lay on the tables. Athough the ads on the video ad show you can hold hands, unless you have freaky arems, not gonna happen - the masseuse need space. Norma, my therapist was perfect, asking if I needed more pressure. The locker room was spotless, I wish they offered more/better products - a straightener and more than just travelsize dove hairspray. But there were razors, shaving cream, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. There was a small jacuzzi but the steam room was cavernous and lovely. Again more nice icy towels. No sauna, no dipping pools. I would give 5 stars for the atmosphere, but my experience with my masseuse and the front desk is making me need to take off stars. My friend and I got the "mindful massage" in which we were supposed to get a class of champagne. We both didn't get it, and after the massage I went up to the front desk asking about it, and they said "oh well if you want it we can get it for you." It would have been nice to actually have been offered it without having to ask and feel as if they are doing us a favor. I did not feel any hospitality as one would/should feel in a resort spa. My friend also got aromatheraphy with her massage, but my masseuse did not offer that to me when it should have been included. Another part of the massage advertisement that was missed on their end. My masseuse did a lousy job with my massage and I remember just thinking I wanted it to be over. I also woke up with a sore neck and shoulders after I had asked her to apply less pressure. There is a 20% tip already included, so beware, you may not get what you pay for. I ended up leaving really disappointed and underwhelmed for the amount of money I payed. I did go with 3 other friends, and they had a really enjoyable experience, so you may too. But, unfortunately, I wish I could have gotten some sort of a refund after my experience or had at least been able to control the amount of tip I would be giving. read more

Spa Terra is a beautiful place to find peace and serenity. Built into a hill as an indoor cave, this incredibly clean spa boasts fantastic massage and beauty services, and a lovely locker room with a private jacuzzi and a huge steam room. I received the scalp massage and therapeutic massage treatments, and came out feeling like a puddle of mush. It's expensive, but if you take advantage of the relaxation room and the other amenities that are included in your treatment, it's totally worth the premium for a special occasion or desperately needed break. read more

What my friends and I deduced is that they have a lot of massage therapists on hand. As a result, they don't seem to have a lot of quality control. My massage therapist was terrible. I actually feel too bad to name her, but I did go with 4 other girls and none of theirs were worth going back to. They offered us "complimentary" scalp massages, which for me meant literally pouring oil onto my forehead until it dripped into my scalp AND it ate into my actual massage time. I like deep tissue massages, but this one actually hurt as she massaged my bones with her elbow. I give it 2 stars because they have a nice steam room and other amenities. However, I would not recommend getting a massage there at all. read more

Pros: Very relaxing, great massage, nice customer service. Cons: Expensive. We got the seduction package which was a 30 minute soak in a private jacuzzi and a 80 minute massage (we upgraded). I'm not really a spa person but pretty much melted at this place. Colette gave an awesome massage which seemed to go way to quick. After the massage we were rushing out to dinner since we had been travelling all day. The only downside of this place was our stupid mistake of rushing! There was no one else in the men's lockerroom which meant I had a sauna and jacuzzi in absolute silence to myself - but we were rushing so I didn't get to use them. All-in-all, this was a great pampering experience. Really comfortable environment and great amenities. A little expensive but worth every cent on a vacation. read more

Such a calm and relaxing experience. The womens locker room was big, beautiful and clean. I enjoyed their sauna and the amenities included were great to have. It was pricey but worth it. First spa I find in California that impresses me since I've gone to lots of spas in resorts while in Mexico. The masseuse was very professional and always made sure I was comfortable. They accidentally double charged me on my credit card but the manager did an amazing job helping me with it. He's the kind of massage therapist that touches you exactly where you need it before you even mention what you need. His level of skill, experience and awareness of physiology are unsurpassed. I leave his presence like a blissed out bowl of jelly and leave all my stress, aches, pains, cares on the table. The staff both in the spa and on the phone when I called to make the appointment were fabulous - especially Soraya. She was so professional, caring and efficient! The spa is meticulously clean and well-stocked with all you need - from icy wash cloths at the steam room to toiletries wherever you might need them. Now hear me out... I have been to much cheaper, less frill spas where the quality of the service and quality of the massages have been FAR better than this place. The only reason it got 2 stars was because the abiance offset the zero stars I was going to give it. The place is gorgeous, hands down the most beautiful spa setting I have ever seen in all my visits to Napa & Calistoga Spas. It is dimly lit, and the maze corridors in the cave are somewhat romantic. The rooms are beautifully furnished & they definitely have all the right equipment to make this a spa heaven. The locker rooms are carpeted & are VERY clean. They give you sterilized bathrobes, bath towels and slippers with a locker that you can stow your personal belongings in & electronically lock it. There are several private shower and changing stalls in the hall that lead up to the hot tub and a sauna room. Awesome sauna room - way to detox! The cave is just beautiful inside. Now for the bad part. I called a week in advance to book a spa appointment for my best friend and myself to celebrate our birthdays. Each time I called, I got an answering machine, so I decided to email. My email was responded to within 48 hours. Kind of slow for a spa that supposedly has great service. I emailed back and said I was interested in booking for 'x' day & 'x' time, please confirm the reservation. They emailed back & said they needed a credit card to hold the reservation. Fine, no problem. The problem was getting ahold of their asses to GIVE them my credit card number?! I called like 5 times and emailed for someone to finally call ME so I can give them my info to book with THEM. No one ever answered me until the day BEFORE the potential reservation. She left a msg on my voicemail asking for me to call her "direct line" and leave my cc number on the vmail so that they can hold it. So I did. The next morning, someone calls me and says "Are you coming in at 11am? Because if not, we're going to have to give this appt away". I told her I called the night before and left my cc number on so and so's vmail and yes, I'm coming in. It was the worst case of communication that I have ever experienced in a "luxury service" setting. WTF? So we finally get there - we booked a friends package which included several components as well as a fruit/cheese platter with wine. We went for our massages in separate rooms. My massage, I'd say would probably rate a 3 out of 10 stars. It was nothing special & I am a fan of male massueses because their hands and fingers are bigger, which mean their massages are much more balanced throughout their hands - they exert the same amount of pressure. Women's fingers and hands tend to be generally skinnier & feel they have to dig their bony little finger down into my back to get that muscle. In any event, my masseuse was very nice - after she did her thing, she sent me back to the locker room with a "Thank you for coming". So I thought "OK...was that it?" I met my friend in the locker room and we chatted a bit & then decided to go into the sauna room. 10 mins later, 2 girls called for us in the smoky sauna room & said we were late for our body scrubs. You'd think someone would have told us that we had to be somewhere right after our massages. Don't send us to the locker room without directions? How were we supposed to know where to meet these body scrubbers? No communication - that's what totally urked me. So after we were scrubbed down, they again sent us back to the locker rooms. I was getting kinda hungry so I was wondering where/when they were going to bring our fruit/cheese platters with the bubbly. I stepped outside into the hallway & there was a table with 2 covered plates. We waited for 5 mins & decided we'll just eat it since it was a fruit & cheese platter. Our wine was not on the table, so we actually had to ASK for it. How irritating. We saw two tables down that a lady was setting up another table with the same platters - only she put a name card out. Howcome we didn't get a namecard? We just had to guess it was ours. The visit was entirely disorganized. The staff was disorganized and lacked any kind of simple communication which is what got under my skin. It was $235.00/person. That's some serious cash flow to throw down for poor service, no direction & a bad first experince at this "top rated" spa. It took us about 20 mins to check out, because the lady at the register 'miscalculated' a couple's massage service - so she was negotiating a price with them...so we had to stand around & pretend we weren't listening to opposing arguments in the supposed tranquil environment where they displayed tank tops with rhinestones in them saying "SPA GIRL" that cost probably a whopping $40.00. I'd go somewhere else and blow $235.00. If you wanna pay $235.00 for a beautiful place...take a trip, don't visit this spa. read more

I Love the ambiance at spa terra though when asking the spa for a recommendation on an esthetician they referred me to the head of the esthetics department. I felt like I paid $115 for this woman to try to sell me face cream rather than doing anything to benefit my skin. I get a lot of facials, and when I asked for extractions she said she didn't want to damage the skin. I paid more for this particular facial because I wanted extractions. At the end of the facial the woman asked me "what products can I get for you?" I didn't buy anything and left feeling gipped :( read more

Because I offer special presentations at spas around the world, I have had extensive spa experiences. Terra Spa is entirely underground in a man-made cave offering separate lounges for men and women with lockers and showers. Services are paid in advance and a 20% automatic gratuity is added to your bill. Many expensive treatments are offered, many including elements of grapes, wine, and earth. As far as amenities, Terra Spa only has a steam room and jetted tub, no sauna, with a soothing waterfall wall next to the serenity area. Inside there are only two chairs. Relaxation has to be in the shared quiet area. The spa itself didn't impress me and I'd give it 3 STARS, but the massage therapist, Manuel, was phenomenal. He deserves 5 STARS. In a 50-minute Terra massage, he was able to innately know exactly what muscle groups to target. He used warm towels, heating blankets, and essential oils as he worked his professional magic. Definitely ask for Manuel when you visit. Make reservations in advance as massages at Terra Spa are popular not only with tourists and guests, but with locals. read more

I preface this by saying I know no one can control the power going out. We arrived early to use the pool and there were no seats available. The cocktails were watered down and cost $17 each. We were handed flashlights to make our way through the dark hallways of the spa. We were not told the massages we wanted were no longer available until we were in the massage rooms. It was so hot in my room that the masseuse had to put cold wet towels on me. I wasn't told at check in that I would need to wear a mask in the massage room and was told by my masseuse. I felt bad not having one with me. It was never even mentioned to my sister. At checkout we provided feedback and I asked Why we were not offered the opportunity to reschedule. I was rudely told I could have asked at check in. When I asked for a total I was told she couldn't give me one with power still out. Really? But let me give you my credit card info to charge later with some undisclosed total? When we asked to speak to a manager, she barely said two words. I had been to Spa Terra once before and loved it. I am dismayed at the way this experience was mishandled. In hindsight, we should have never agreed to proceed knowing the power was out but the point is really that staff should have better communicated rather than merely offering "complimentary Prosecco". read more

The staff really make you feel special, you are handed champagne immediately and escorted into an amazingly beautiful and serene private changing area. Just to let you know, It is clothing optional. Come early before your spa service so that you can enjoy soaking in their jetted jacuzzi's and wet sauna. Take a shower before you leave in their individual rainfall showers. Probably one of my least favorite SPA's traveled in the USA no Amenities to speak of a hot tub and non Working Sauna & three showers. The Brochure made it look like a resort but what you don't see is the Industrial Park right across the street. Marketing team at its best! Vacation spot with Children in the Gym but our Bartender Kevin was the best you deserve four Stars. I Don't think I would ever revisit. read more

My masseuse was AMAZING!!! Jeannie(sp?) gave me the BEST deep tissue massage I have ever had. She was so thorough and got all of my knots out! I recently have had shoulder surgery, and she took great care to be less aggressive in that area. Everyone was wonderful there, and the spa was beautiful and clean.
