I was a little worried the "cave" thing would be gimmicky. But it was beautiful! Super nice setting, very clean, serene, ahhh. We're off to a great start. The spa staff from beginning to end was super friendly. They encouraged us to use the facilities as long as we wished, so my daughter and I got there nearly two hours early and settled into the "relaxing room" to read our books, sip tea, and even snack on the free apples they had sitting out. The robes and chairs were so cozy that we were completely relaxed by the time our treatments started. We each had a swedish massage, and both swore that our person must be the best one in the whole place. I've had a fair number of massages, and this one ranked way at the top. My only complaint was that it wasn't long enough, but that was my fault for only booking 50 minutes. The only reason I'm not going with 5 stars is the price. The massages were really spendy. But then, this is Napa, it was a weekend in the summer, and they do have really lovely facilities and didn't skimp on any amenities (nice refreshments, high end robes and towels, anything you might need in the restrooms, etc.). 3 girlfriends and I visited Spa Terra while staying a long weekend at Vino Bello, Meritage and touring Napa wine country. Kicking off our second day of wine tasting with a terra massage was definitely the way to go. The weekend and Meritage/Terra Spa were so relaxing and THE answer to a soon-to-be-bride's dreams of escaping the craziness of wedding planning for just a bit! Wednesday April 22, 2015 I had the Duetto package, which includes a Terra massage and a facial. The massage done by Jessica was amazing! She asked if there are any areas I'd like her to focus on which I did. She gave a little more attention to my back and calves by massaging them longer and applying more pressure. It was so incredibly relaxing and soothing. My facial was afterwards and by a different person, and it wasn't as relaxing. I enjoy the applications of the creams, the warm towels, feet massage, and upper body massage. The extracting is not pleasant and I just want to go in and not feel bad about not exfoliating on a regular basis. I wish I had the facial first. After both services, I relaxed in the waiting room for a little bit to unwind and enjoy a little longer. The shower was delightful! It had a walk in changing room and then a huge shower with an overhead shower, side jets and a regular shower head from the wall. The temperature was perfect! The jets I definitely recommend using. They also had toiletries available (hairbrush, cotton balls, q-tips, combs, lotion, hairspray, etc.). The lockers were easy to use; you do not need to bring a lock as it is a push code lock where you enter a four digit code you create. I highly recommend this place. I was told afterwards by other people who used the spa I could have used the jacuzzi and relaxing room until 8pm of the same day I paid for. read more

We were staying at the Vino Bello on a girls weekend and we decided to partake in a spa day. We all had a wonderful time. The staff was nice and prompt. The facility is beautiful. I read a bunch of reviews before we went to the spa and the only thing I would say is come a half an hour early like they request. If you do you will get spectacular service and a time to take advantage of the steam room, the relaxation room and all the other amenities. Jackie was my technician and I would highly recommend her. She was professional and I had a great Vino Bello scrub and mud wrap. read more

The hot tub and steam room are spacious as well as the relaxation areas and treatment rooms. I got the dolce scrub and wrap - it was an experience that I'll be coming back for soon. A week after my yelp review a manager from the spa DID call me to ask if there was anythg she could do, and I was working so she left me a mssg. It was a very nice and heart felt mssg and i appreciated her trying to make the situation better. We had an amazing experience. Working with Brenna to schedule our couples massage was very pleasant. The moment we walked in we felt pampered. Relaxing in the Serenity Room with a cup of tea prior to our massage was perfect and tranquil. We enjoyed the couples massage and then relaxed with a glass of bubbly cider and chocolates. Loved how clean and spacious the ladies locker rooms were. Everything you could possibly need to pamper yourself was there. Nice relaxing soak in the hot tub and then a luxurious shower in their huge shower with body jets. Ended our morning dining at the Sienna on Eggs Benedict and Lattes. read more

We were guests at the resort on Monday.. We were celebrating my birthday!! My husband and myself decided to check out the spa that had such amazing reviews. 3 stars for the facility.. was very serene and relaxing. We loved the waiting room.. all in all, we really loved the ambience I got the mammina massage and my husband got the deep tissue mashed. He said his masseuse gave him a very thorough massage.. he is feeling pretty sore today though..here is why I decided to take out 2 stars.. 1. My body was real sore last night and it got me worried cos I got the prenatal massage.. I ended up throwing up twice.. Not sure if it was related.. but it did scare me a bit.. an not sure what the massage is supposed to do to you when you are pregnant.. 2. I wanted to buy eminence products.. I specifically wanted the strawberry rhubarb exfoliant..it was listed at 50$ at the spa.. for some reason, I forgot to buy it yday and I am glad now.. I just got back home and checked on amazon. It was listed at 31.50$.. this really bothered me.. Why would there be a 20$ markup??? That left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The spa itself was awesome. The 80 minute massage was great except that we only got 70 minutes. The manager kept insisting over and over that the clock in the waiting room was different than the clock in the massage room. We kept telling her that we were using ONLY the clock in the massage room for our reference. Instead of agreeing with the customer, apologizing for the error and helping to satisfy our situation, the manager kept defending the masseuses and their time keeping saying there was no way possible that we were shorted on our time. It wasn't until another customer said that they had been shorted as well that the manager did anything. We lost out on 12.5% of our massage and were begrudgingly given 10% off all the while being told indirectly that we were wrong/lying. I loved the massage and the facilities but due to the complete lack of customer service by the counter person as well as the spa manager, I/we will not return. If you don't mind getting shorted on what you pay for I would say go for it but if you don't like getting ripped off, I would stay away. read more

I like this spa because it was different from all the other ones I've been too. It's kinda cool because it feels like your entering a cave under grounds and above it is a winery. I like the packages that they offer. Most of them come with wine or champagne which is totally appropriate due to it's location/setting. I'm a fan because it's something new to me. Took my girlfriend a few weeks ago. What a gem of a spa. From the moment we were greeted at the front by the Manager until we left we felt pampered and cared for. The spa is like you are in an old world spa in Italy or Europe all the while in a cave. We were recently in Hawaii and paid close to $800 for spa services and this blows it away! Far superior. My girlfriend had gone through breast cancer and this was a very special day for us. Lori (Manager) was so caring and thoughtful she asked if we were doing any wine tasting and I did not make any reservations - she arranged a special winery visit for us to go to after while we were in having our massages. We had very skilled therapists and will recommend to our friends in Marin. Thank you Lori and Staff for all that you did for us on our special day. We will be back many times! read more

I visited the spa at the Meritage for a brow shaping and facial in preparation for my upcoming wedding. 2 stars for the brows: I'd been growing in my brows for a few weeks to have them professionally shaped. As my esthetician did not ask me how I wanted my brows, I told her I did not want them too thin and that I had been growing them out to allow that. She waxed my brows even thinner than my normal tweezer line. She also cut the hairs. They are sitting high and uneven on my face - one is higher than the other. I would not recommend them for brow design, but if you do go, give very clear and detailed instructions if there is something specific you want. 3 stars for the facial: I was hoping for a facial that would pull out a lot of the impurities, but most of the lotions they used were for hydration or firming. I do have slightly dry skin. They did do some extractions, which helped. 3 stars for correcting scheduling difficulties: I also had trouble scheduling appointments with the Meritage. I chose to book through the email address online. I sent back my credit card number as requested but they never confirmed the appt. I showed up the next day for my service to have no appt. They tried hard to bring in someone to perform my service but could not. So they gave me a glass of champagne and scheduled me for when I could come in the next week. Overall, the place is pretty and the people are nice. They just don't seem to focus on what the customer wants out of their service, which is unfortunate for a spa at this price point. read more

The check in/out staff at the front desk were very welcoming and friendly. I received a massage from Veronica that was wonderful- she applied the perfect amount of pressure and really listened to my needs/requests. The massage itself was very relaxing and my back felt great after. I definitely recommend the "fitness" massage oil- it has a subtle lavender scent that was so calming. I also got the Bliss Facial from Janice and it was wonderful. She chose treatment products that worked very well with my skin and wrote them down so I would know exactly what she used- but she didn't pressure me at all to buy them. (FYI they are very expensive- I wanted to buy two products in the spa gift store but decided to spend my money on wine tastings instead.) I felt like Janice really took good care of my skin- it was a little red afterward because of the extractions but looked amazing the next day. If I return to this spa I would definitely request both Veronica and Janice for the same treatments! read more

Just spent a couple days in Napa on a "girl's get-away" at the Meritage Resort & Spa. The Spa is so unique! It's built into a hill, so basically, it's in a Cave! Great experience! I have traveled a lot in the last few years and have stayed at 5 star hotels & spas and my experience here was every bit as good as the best I've stayed at! I honestly wasn't going to write this review but after reading a few that had similar experiences I think it's important to share my experience. The spa was loud. People were not following spa etiquette. The hot tub wasn't working. When I went to the serenity room to wait for my massage all chairs were full so I awkwardly stood in the doorway. Right before my therapist came I was able to sit for about 30 seconds. That room was incredibly loud. It was like being at a cafe or restaurant. I did not linger after my massage bc of the noise level. When asked at checkout how was everything?- I gave a polite answer of feeling disappointed. I was told that I could come back later- something that I could have done regardless of the experience. There was no offer of compensation. I did receive a phone call later offering the use the next day, which I squeezed in so as not leave feeling like I wasted money on something that was supposed to be deeply relaxing. For the price and the service (or lack there of) at checkout I honestly don't know if I'll be back or recommend the spa to others. It's a beautiful facility and had a decent massage but the rest did not live up to expectations. I get massages frequently. Sometimes a $45 hr at my neighborhood shiatsu place- it's a great massage and I can hear the phone and others talking, but for the money you get what you pay for and I leave satisfied. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for my experience here. read more

After posting a review for a negative hot stone massage, Laurie, the spa manager, contacted me within the next business day and offered to rectify the issue. Upon speaking with her, she was sympathetic, understanding, and agreed that the situation could have been better handled. She provided a full refund for the hot stone massage I failed to receive and encouraged that I return again. I really appreciate the fact that she took this complaint/review seriously and provided a solution promptly. Now that's excellent customer service! I feel comfortable returning to this spa and will be sure to ask for the same therapist and esthetician I had on previous occasions. read more

I am rating Spa Terra with ONE STAR based on the security of the locker room. I treated myself and my hubby to a couples massage which was very relaxing. But after our 50 minute massage, my husband was not able to open his locker with the code he had created and had to ask the attendant to unlock it. Once opened, my husband's wallet and Smart phone were both missing. It was obvious to me that it was an inside job because whom ever robbed us knew we had gone for a massage and surreptitiously raided his locker. Spa Terra was actually our go-to spa retreat, but after having our BELONGINGS STOLEN in their locker room it is needless to say we will NEVER PATRONIZE THIS SPA AGAIN! read more

This place is really tiny. The hot tub can maybe fit 3 people at an uncomfortable distance but the steam room is larger. There is no sauna, only 2 lounge chairs and really nothing else which means there's a high chance you'll be bored after 15 minutes. For the price, they should at least have a sauna. After showering in the facilities I opened my eyes to a large dangling spider about 1 cm from my eyes. Great. They charge a 20% gratuity without your consent, but good thing my masseuse deserved it. Andre Gonzalez alone deserves 5 stars, his silky elbows and hands created an excellent deep tissue massage. Finally someone who listens and did exactly what I needed. I didn't feel rushed when me and my sisters arrived 2 minutes before our appointment time. On the other hand, both of my sisters hated their massages. Both of theirs got cut short (less than 50 minutes), one used all elbows and the other masseuse didn't listen at all to what my sister asked for, wasting time slapping and rubbing around. So they were definitely unhappy with the 20% gratuity they didn't even know about. Overall the facilities are clean and nice, but there are not a lot of products to use. To top it off, they charged us a weekend rate when we had our appointments on a Monday, and don't count on them to catch the overcharge. read more

My husband took me here for my birthday weekend. We did the couple's seduction package with a cave stone massage instead of the one it generally comes with. We got to first soak in a private bubbly tub (with jets) with champagne and chocolate. The hot stone massage was a-mazing! I will definitely get it again (though not the seduction package). The eucalyptus steam room is great and so is the relaxation room. The staff is really nice and the facility is clean. I think I'm going to start coming to this spa quarterly! I love it! This place is fabulous! We came up the Sunday after Valentine's day and stayed at the Meritage Resort, so we could go to our spa appt Monday morning. The spa is in the cave across from the resort. Once at the spa, you check in and they walk you back to the locker room, where you are given a personal locker with a robe and spa sandals. Then you are lead into the comfy spa lounge and served water or tea while you wait for you service to begin. When it's time for your treatment to begin a very friendly staff member comes to guide you to your treatment room. My BF and I got the Seduction Package and enjoyed every minute. The soak was awesome. They had champagne and chocolates waiting for us once inside. The massage was heavenly. They used grape seed oil and my skin felt really soft afterward. After the treatment you are allowed to used the facilities for the rest of the day. The lockers rooms have a steam room and jacuzzi. The steam room was fantastic. The entire facility was extremely clean, so you didn't feel like you are in a regular gym locker room. I defiantly plan to go again. read more

I've only been to one other spa in napa, which was at the silverado resort.. The day I went they were booked :( so I found spa terra!! I'm sure glad I did!!! This spa is so luxurious and nice, the waiting room for treatments or the quiet room is literally the most relaxing room I've ever been in... Me and my mom did a couples scrub.. She had the dolce and I had the vino bello!! Omg both were amazing, so amazing I bought the product!! I've had a scrub before but not one like this not one in such a beautiful treatment room!! The spa is in a cave which makes for such a cozy intimate space.. The outdoor area is also nice and relaxing.. The pool is beautiful!! Looking at the vineyards is awesome!! We also tried the crush lounge and the blend cafe and both were delish!! Come here and stay the whole day it's worth every penny!! Stop at the Fremont diner on Your way up for breakfast and your day will be complete!! My birthday is next month and I'm looking forward to booking with you again spa terra!! What a wonderful experience!! I have never been to such a beautiful and unique spa. The spa is actually in a cave and is very quiet and serene. I started my experience with Sarah who checked me in and gave me a tour of the facility. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. She showed me to the locker room and introduced me to Myrah who was the locker room attendant. She to was very friendly and accommodating. I utilized the jacuzzi, steam room and quiet room prior to my massage with Christina. The massage room was very comfortable. Christina was very accommodating during my massage from cooling the room down to my comfort to asking me how I was doing during the massage. She checked on pressure which I appreciate because sometimes I change the pressure in certain areas. Of note, I did have a deep tissue massage. After my massage I relaxed in the quiet room and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I would recommend this place and experience to anyone. My very dear friend got engaged and celebrated a birthday. We wanted to treat her to a 5 star, VIP weekend in Napa. We chose to stay at Meritage Resort and Spa and chose the deep tissue massages and the mare & terra body scrubs treatments. In the end, we choose POORLY. The only exceptional thing about this place is the treatments. The spa is a cave. Yes, a cave! I thought it would be cool at first but it seemed to me a bit creepy. And you couldn't get any cell phone reception which made it worse! We were given a brief tour and the women's locker rooms were really small and didn't offer much amenities. (ie. place to sit to do your make-up, clean hair brushes, make-up remover, flat iron). There was only a hot tub and steam room, which were nice. But it would of been nice to have other options. The people who work here work hard! I got one of the most relaxing massages! And my first body scrub was excellent! My body was smooth and clean. But I don't think I'll be returning here. For the cost it just doesn't seem worth it and I didn't feel 5-start treatment, or VIP status for the $ we spent. read more

The massage itself is also great. Linda gave me a very restful deep tissue massage, it's so comfy I almost felt asleep, and my shoulder felt much better after the massage. The idea of getting a massage in a subterranean cave under a vineyard sounded so romantic that I was OK paying $115 for a massage. Instead, I froze my ass off, shivering the entire time so I couldn't relax and enjoy my massage. The warming blanket on the table wasn't working and the room temperature was about 10 degrees too cold. Given the fact that I had no clothes on, this was a most unfortunate and uncomfortable experience. Valerie, the massage therapist gave a good massage, but we started a few minutes late and I wound up with a 45 minute massage, instead of the 50 I paid for. Simultaneously, my friend had a massage in another room and said the same thing about the temperature, so this is clearly a consistent issue. I mentioned my concerns to the front desk as we were checking out and they did give me a $20 discount on the massage, but I still wouldn't go back again. read more

Went with my two girlfriends and we all felt it was our best spa experience hands down. We have been to Sonoma Mission Inn, The Claremont, Burke Williams, to name a few. They are all nice but Spa Terra gets my vote. Location: they are 10 minutes from my house. Very easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. Value: $195 for a 25 minute scrub, 50 minute massage, cheese plate and champagne. Not to mention use of the jacuzzi and sauna all day. The overall ambience is beautiful and the amenities are great. My wife and I booked a package here for our 2 year anniversary, about $400. The massage was amazing, very good masseuse. The customer service is where the SPA fell horribly short. We ran into an issue with our rental car and called 2 hours before our booking time to attempt to notify the spa we would be running behind. First, getting in touch with someone was a challenge we had to leave a message. After we finally reached someone they quoted their policy and told us they did not have any other times available. After discussing our situation they adjusted our time by 30 minutes. When I told he receptionist we would be about 45 minutes behind not thirty she said that's fine you will just miss your soak but will have time for the massage and we would still be charged for the soak. When we arrived we were 10 minutes late and they said we missed our window to use the tub, and we were not offered our champagne or chocolates we were charged for. After our massage we paid and the manager said 3 minutes in the soaking tub was not worth it. We over heard another guest asking for times to have a massage and it sounded like they had ample openings later in the day but could not accommodate us. I understand we were late and the spa met us in the middle however we were not offered nor received the package they charged us for. My wife and I both come from a customer service background and for the price you pay here we expected more. DONT BE LATE OR YOU WILL PAY. read more
