Our group of 7 arrived around 9:50A yesterday and were greeted by two employees. One employee checked us in and asked for our drink orders. As we waited our group stepped outside to take a photo. That employee came back to give our drinks and informed someone in our party that they no longer had a particular beverage and asked her for another drink order. She left and we continued to wait outside until a second employee came outside and said, "ladies it is 10:02 and your sessions have already started". I was shocked that 1) the employees hadn't instructed us in any way to enter the facility and that 2) her tone was so rude. We proceeded to be guided inside (finally) where were instructed to change, fill out paperwork, and find our therapist. Given the nature of the interaction, I don't believe it was our group's fault for being as tardy as we were. None of us had been to the facility before and had waited to be given instructions. Naturally, our sessions were cut short and we all still paid the full amount plus the mandatory 20% tip. $246 for a 40 minute massage and a rude employee interaction seems outrageous. The one star is for the steam room, which was the saving grace to the whole experience. Spa Terra looses the other stars for poor service and hospitality. read more

Had an amazing experience here with a group of 8 that the spa was able to accommodate with just a handful of days notice. 2 of us had a facial and the other 6 a massage and everyone returned to the gathering/waiting area - Relaxation Room - totally BLISSED OUT. Robes and slippers were comfy. Dressing/locker room was nicely stocked. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Prosecco while we waited for our treatments. It was heaven! I had the Organic facial and it was great! Cindy explained everything all along the way so I could leave informed if I wanted to pick up any products. Some spas are pushy with their after facial sales tactics but this was definitely an informative soft sell which I very much appreciated. I'll definitely return again and stay longer next time to enjoy the pool which you have access to as a spa guest. read more

Went here a few months ago for a girls spa day. It was a mediocre experience. I think this place only has it's looks going for it. They were aware, that we booked them to celebrate a bride to be, but they had no extra perks to make it an experience to remember. The massage was average, and of course overpriced. Scheduling appointments on their website was easy, but if you want to change or reschedule, you have to call the Spa. There's no way to edit your treatment after you've confirmed. Getting a hold of someone on the phone took some patience, but they were accommodating and made the process of updating my appointments easy. Mark Ha was amazing and professional. He was very knowledgeable about acupressure points and skilled in gauging how much pressure I was comfortable with during my deep tissue massage. He made my experience relaxing and helped me release a lot of tension in my back. I highly recommend him and would book with him again. The Spa recommends arriving at least 15 min and at the most 20 mins before your appointment. I think 30 minutes would've been nicer to change and use the jacuzzi or steam room, but I understand if it's to decrease the amount of traffic and people. When my treatment ended at 5:50pm, they started closing the spa. I only had enough time to shower and dress. I wish I could have had more time to use the steam room afterwards, but I did schedule the last appointment of the day. My service was scheduled for 9:00. They came and got me from the waiting room at 9:00. I got a 50 minute mother to be massage yesterday and had an ok experience. Everyone was being asked if they want champagne or juice, but no one ever asked me. The women's locker room was great, the jacuzzi inside the locker room was awesome, and overall the ambience was great. There was a "relaxation room" to go and wait for your massage, but it was packed and no one was masked, so it felt very Covid-y. The actual massage was only 44 minutes because the time to get ready and change goes toward the 50 minutes. At $210, that was a bit disappointing. They didn't bother to explain to me the locker room situation, it was a disaster and lots of crowded people everywhere. I couldn't get anyone to assist me. You basically had to go out in your robe to fetch someone all the way outside the entrance. Ridiculous. Then the massage, it was bad. For $200 plus spend your money elsewhere. Seriously not even an hour, less than an hour and they didn't even do the front part of my body. On top of that she dropped something towards the end of the massage and it startled me and whatever relaxation I had went out the window. I don't know what happened to this place. We were there for a couples massage. This place was very nice. Extra points because it was in a cave, so unique. Massage was okay, not the best I've ever had but not terrible. I was very disappointed that they don't provide a tub that we could soak in together within the spa. I got a 50 mins deep tissue massage here. My masseuse, Genie, was amazinggg!! Truly the best massage I've ever had. She targeted my problem areas and used the perfect amount of pressure. I tend to like firmer pressure and although I've asked for it in the past, I think people get intimidated that they're going to hurt me, but Genie adjusted to my liking and helped me get my multitude of knots out. Some required extra attention but by the end of the 50 mins they were all gone. I have enjoyed your spa in the past but I am alerting you to a problem at your front desk. I have been calling all week at different times and nobody once answered the phone. I left messages on a daily basis and finally Nikki called me and left a message that there was availability for a mommy and me massage next week (I could not book this online). When I called back I spoke to another staff who was going to arrange the booking and then she either hung up n me or we got disconnected. Good staff would have called back to apologize and complete the booking. Unfortunately that did not occur. Instead I called right back only to get another message and I left but another message. I called this morning for the last time and it's 4:10 and nobody still called. Clearly they don't care about clients. If this was my company, I'd fire at least someone for negligence and complete disregard for their job duties. With COVID restrictions relaxed, we were excited to get a massage and relax at the spa. The front desk check in clerk was very nice and pleasant, so I give one star to her. The second star is for the smell and serenity of the spa itself, it's so cool that it's in a cave. However, we didn't have the best experience once inside with the services and amenities offered, which were slim. First, we booked two 50-minute massages and neither of us got the full 50 minutes. They come to get you at the top of the hour, take you to the room, allow you to take your robe off and get comfortable, all while eating into your 50-minute time slot. You would expect them to start the 50 minutes when they start massaging you, but that was not the case. They ended both of our massages 10minutes to the hour, so it was more like a 40minute massage. Very disappointing. Second, the locker rooms were being worked on, which was not a relaxing experience when you have men in there doing construction while you are trying to relax. Do the construction when the spa is NOT open!!! Third, I told my masseuse to focus on certain areas (e.g., upper shoulders, etc). She did her own thing and completely ignored my problem areas. I even asked her during the massage and she rubbed there for a minute, then moved on. I got the swedish massage and she didn't even rub my hands or feet. Forth, there was no co-ed lounging area, so if you go with your spouse there isn't anywhere where both of you can relax or go into a jacuzzi or sauna together. All in all, we left desiring more, much more, especially given the price. But, instead we left with knots in our backs (still) and the feeling that we went into a really low quality spa. This was my first time at Spa Terra. I love a great spa experience! As equal to the treatments is the relaxation time, nice robes and leisure. I did not have any of this. I know that Spa Terra has had to make some adjustments during Covid and they are currently remodeling their locker rooms/sauna and steam rooms. There was no place to relax before treatment. No soft robes. No quiet calm ambience. I can understand that they are remodeling but I think that they should have adjusted the prices for their treatments considering! I am willing to pay the high price for treatments when I get to enjoy the luxury of the spa but it does not seem quite as justifiable for just the treatment itself. I wish that Spa Terra would have offered some kind of a discount because of the lack of amenities. I had two incredible massages during my stay which is exactly what I was hoping for but I don't feel that the cost was justifiable. They advertise a 50 minute massage but on both days it was 50 minutes from the time I said hello to the masseuse till the time I said goodbye. The massage itself might have been a generous 40 minutes. They did a great job on my back and shoulders but my legs and arms felt incredibly rushed. I do not think I got what I paid for. This is not to critique masseuse masseuse who was awesome... I just think Spa Terra should make sure their patrons get the full length of massage. Maybe set a time? And I think they should consider a discount when the facilities are not available. A 40 minute massage only for $169 is a bit pricey. read more

My boyfriend planned a birthday getaway for me to Napa for a couple of nights, 9/1-9/3. We stayed across the street at the Vista Collina resort. He has also set me up to get a massage here. Since all the massage services were closed I'm sacramento due to covid, this massages was definitely needed. First of all I couldn't find the Spa, it was all the way in the back behind the pool area. Once I found it, it was a super cute set up inside, nice rustic vibe. The receptionist lady was nice and went over the covid screening (they had just opened up for Inside service recently. My massage was done by Jessenia, she was very pleasant. Her pressure was prefect! I hate when I get a massage and I just get a rube down. She actually found all my tense areas and worked those. Her hands were soft and whatever oil they used was nice. She had one nice soothing music but I'm assuming she was using her phone and the music stopped like 10mins into the massage. Which was kind of annoying since the music also helps you relax. So now it's just quite! So here's the reason for 3 stars, first off the massage was $165 + an automatic 20% gratuity. Total was $198, I've never seen an automatic gratuity added on for a massage.... ummm what if the person was horrible! And now I'm forced to tip them 20%! Luckily she was good, so was like whatever. Then along with that price... I would have assumed I'd get a beverage of some sort... tea, coffee, a mimosa even a water while I waited! Nothing was offered. Maybe a robe to relax in whole I waited for my massage since I got there early... Something! Also normally massages are 60 minutes and this one was only 50 minutes! This place is pretty good. The jacuzzi and the steam room are the only amenities but the quiet room is a nice place to relax. The ladies in the front were kinda tense for working at a spa and did not seem they liked their jobs. They collect 20% mandatory gratuity on all services upfront when you pay for your service, which I thought was tacky but made it easier so we didn't tip more or need to use cash. So if you're treating someone, you'll be expected to pay the tip too. The product pushing was not too bad but the I didn't really like the thickness of the lotions/sunscreens or the smell. I had the 25 minute facial express facial, which is really a 20 minute facial since they get to the quiet room to pick you up at your time or a couple minutes late then they interview you about your skin and it takes another few minutes to get situated but they end RIGHT at the 25 minute mark even if they came a minute or two late. I probably would go to Burke Williams on Santana Row instead to relax and use a spa. But this is a good place to go in Napa with friends. And contrary to the spa's comment below, the tacky mandatory gratuity charge is NOT the industry standard at better spas like Burke Williams, spas in Vegas or any Korean spas in New York, Bay Area or LA. read more

So... let me start off saying I was SO HAPPY to hear that Spa Terra was open and booking massages during this nightmare of events that are going on in the world right now. Now upon booking the massages, I was wondering how they would execute the services given the whole social distancing thing... and they did make quite a few adjustments on everything except pricing. As always, the massage I had at Spa Terra the other day was amazing (Mercer was my masseuse and boy do I recommend him btw, what an amazing deep tissue massage). My only gripe... the price hasn't changed even with ALL the restrictions in place! The whole entire spa was closed, no locker room usage, no steam room, no spa water, no quiet room to wait for your masseuse to call you, and the private massage rooms were shut down. Instead, the massages are given outside, in the Pool Area where you can hear golf carts driving right past you, kids yelling and running around, adults feeling oh so dandy going to get another poolside drink... they actually converted the Pool cabanas to "massage rooms" where we had to undress in the room itself and get under the blankets (no robes offered). I honestly couldn't relax completely and needless to say I felt a little ripped off considering I still paid full price for massages for my fiancé and I ($400 for the two of us to be specific). Now, with that price being paid for two 50 minute massages (50 min is the max in time now btw too) and completely closed spa amenities, one would think a prestigious resort like the Meritage would compensate their patrons for such inconveniences by either offering a reduced rate OR compensating a free meal or even a bottle of wine at the very least for that price.... one would think, right? It was really a bittersweet experience because we absolutely LOVE The Meritage & Spa Terra (this is our Napa go-to and has significant meaning to my fiancé and I) yet we felt ripped off and honestly disappointed for being shorted of an amazing experience (I look forward to the steam room every single time ). Now, I completely understand all the restrictions that need to be in place to ensure our safety, but if half of the experience is closed, one would think that modifications would be made to the price list of limited services... or at least some type of compensation would be offered, especially if they want you to return! We were actually planning on booking another stay at the Meritage in the next few weeks to celebrate our upcoming anniversary, but are now reconsidering, unfortunately. read more

So Spa Terra contacted after my mediocre review, which I thought was great! That shows they actively care about their guests and the services they provide. And want to continue being a luxury day spa. 5 stars! But one of the most disappointing things I learned was regarding the automatic 20% gratuity. What I was told from their manager was that the person giving you your service - only receives 14.5% from that 20%. The rest is split up amongst the staff who keep the locker rooms clean. They assured me staff are "on board and happy with this decision"... To me this just says that management won't pay their staff a decent living wage. I worked as a server for years when I was younger and one of the places I worked at required us to give part of our tips to the cooks every night. I HATED this. All the other servers hated it. Many of us quit. Let me tell you, your massage therapists do not like receiving 14.5% percent. Spa Terra, you can't even round up to 15%???? The manager also told me that nowhere on their site or anywhere is it publicly stated that your masseuse is getting 14.5%. If I knew that, I'd totally give them more because they earned it. I came to Napa for a short solo trip. Just to relax after a hard quarter end at work. Stayed at the resort and enjoyed the amenities including this amazing underground spa. The ambiance is nice. Old world Tuscany style. I think the lighting can get a little dimmer. The locker rooms were clean and fully stocked with all the necessities. You get a locker with a robe and rubber slippers. Pass the showers is the hot tub. A pretty big space for a hot tub. It made the large tub looked small. I think an additional tub or enlarge the current tub would make the space look more grand! On the right side of the room is the eucalyptus sauna. Walking in here was so relaxing! Spa water is conveniently located right outside the sauna. The waiting room wall color was a surprise! It is a bluish color. Very serene vibe. Again, I think the lights were too bright. Once it was time for my massage, my masseuse met me at the waiting room and walked me to my massage room. Wall colors changed to greenish. Very nice room. I think the music can be lowered and better choice of slower serene music can be played. My masseuse Rebecca was amazing! I really enjoyed my time here. I definitely would recommend and will come back again. read more

The spa was nice but this review is for the relaxation massage. I get massages pretty regularly and this one was among the worst. The women was barely doing anything. Spent the first 15 minutes massaging lightly with the sheet on me. Spent a lot of time in the cabinets and adjusting my pillows. It was just kind of scattered and when she did massage me, I didn't feel much. I'm always a 20% tipper but I found myself questioning the tip amount while in my massage. GORGEOUS! The decor of this spa was the best I've ever been to! Wonderful wonderful wonderful. I really like the facility. They offer jacuzzi, steamroom, personal showers with a room to dry down/change in, beautiful lockers and all the goodies you need to make yourself squeaky clean and pretty. I requested the Duetto package, which included a European facial and Terra massage. 50 minutes each. Well, it kinda cost a lot for only 50 minutes each. The room for the massage was beautiful, the massage was fine. It could have been better. The facial was good, my face was glowing afterwards but wasn't the best I've ever had. Customer service is nonexistent. Despite negative Yelp reviews I attempted to schedule a massage. I scheduled by phone but did not receive email confirmation. From there I had to spend considerable time trying to communicate by Phone & email. I was passed around & disconnected. I was told that the person who took my initial reservation said I declined to provide my email. Not true. I notified spa by email that wanted to cancel after waiting for call back that never happened. After 3 days I finally get an email response confirmation of appointment! !! I had to request confirmation that indeed I canceled. The Spa manager complied with not a word of apology for my inconvenience. Makes me sad because I have been a patron since 2008. This was our first time at Spa Terra. The facility is clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The massages were nice. Although, I'd love to give the facility 5 stars, there were some issues we had that were disappointing. We booked our services over a month in advance and were told we had access to the adult pool and pool bar. We planned our whole day to be at the spa/pool. Four days before our travel, we received an email that stated we would not longer be allowed to use the adult pool and pool bar due to a special event. We were told we would have access to the general pool and we could order food and beverages there. After our services at the spa, we headed over to the Vino Bello Pool. The QR code didn't work and so we were given a paper print out. We tried to call and order from what ended up being room service. We repeatedly tried to order food and beverages and the employee was new so they told us to call back to speak to a manager. We decided to walk over to the pool bar and ordered drinks there with no problems. There were people at the pool, which was confusing because we were told it was closed. We headed back over to the Vino Bello pool. 50 minutes after we had attempted to order food and beverages with the original menu they gave us, an attendant came over with two of the four drinks we attempted to order. She handed us a bill for $34 dollars, $5 of that being a delivery fee. We declined the order and she took it back. Shortly after that, our key to get in and out of the pool/restrooms stopped working and we spent 30 minutes back and forth with the spa to get a new key. At that point, we paid out and left. Our whole day at the spa and pool turned into 3 hours. The most disappointing part of the experience was the lack of good customer service. We paid $500 in services. If your guests were told about certain amenities, and then you take them away, there should be some compensation. The Vino Bello pool and room service for food and beverage was very tacky and disorganized. Not to mention, very unfortunate to charge a delivery fee when we were the ones who were given this option and not by choice. There should have been some sort of resort credit given and or even a credit for a massage enhancement. Went here for my fiancé birthday. Make sure you come early to check in and stay in their waiting room and locker rooms. You also have to sign waivers before so don't come on time. At least 15-20 mins so it doesn't eat into your service time. Bought their $500 gift card and got $100 to spend on myself. But was a little upset that I couldn't use the $100 bonus for myself on our couples package. They told me after I bought the gift card - and after I called to make sure I could use it!! I was really upset. But what they ended up doing is putting everything as al a carte in the system so I could use my $100, but the whole service ended up being $50 more expensive than I originally forecasted. I got over it though because I had no choice since I already bought everything!!! We did the 25 minute soak in the couples room plus a 50 min couples massage. It was really quiet, clean, and nice. Relaxing place. But my main complaint was the massage ended about 5 min early, which is a lot of time when you are paying $320++ for only 50 mins, also, I felt our massage providers were cleaning up and tidying up our clothes for another 5+ mins vs. massaging us! But they were both professional and sweet so no complaints beyond that. The service we bought had two glasses of apple cider and some chocolates, which were good. But the glasses weren't fancy champagne glasses - they were just cups, the chocolates were just squares of wrapped chocolate and not what I expected. Sort of expected something fancier at that place, but they tasted good. The tub was really cool because it had bubbles and lights inside the tub that changed colors! It also had jets like a private spa. I actually thought that was the best part!!! The massage was good. They ask if the pressure was okay and whether there is a specific place we wanted them to focus on. I said my neck and shoulders and she spent a bit more time there. The locker rooms were also nice. They had hairbrushes, soaps, lotions, and very cool showers with an overhead shower and body jets. You also get your own personal locker, shoes, and a robe, they try to provide everything for you so you can have a stress free day. Free parking on site and you can order spa food to eat in the cave dining area. If you want a snack. We got the cheese plate, turkey sandwich, and eggplant sandwiches. We used the gift card for food and spent the rest on massage oils. Total of $600 plus... So overall...an okay experience. Something to do once, but I don't need to do it again. I love this spa already to begin with. I love the facilities. It feels like im in spain with the decor but MARK! If you want the best deep tissue massage ask for MARK! I have sore shoulders due to stress and playing volleyball. He really got into the knots and was very intuitive with my body language when he is getting into it. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated after the massage and the pain and soreness was relieved. Amazing service.
