I first visited Spa Xanadu a few years back for my friend's birthday. This place is nice, serene, and clean. The women's locker area is a tad small. Parking in the back of the spa is tight and there is limited street parking. The spa offers a select food menu that is catered from a nearby restaurant. After my initial visit with Rudy who did an amazing massage, I would visit more often. Getting various treatments such as seaweed wrap treatment, milk bath, massages, and facials. I really liked Sylvia but eventually she left, so I tried other people and it just wasn't the same. After a few times of getting pulled out of the sauna/whirlpool area about 10-15 minutes earlier than anticipated to start an appointment, I began to feel less relaxed and rushed. That's disappointing since we are paying good money to use the facilities to help with relaxing. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. My husband and I needed a little TLC on an afternoon with no kids. We didn't have the time to drive out to the westside or out to corona for the hot springs, so we did our research and found this place. Wish we had found it years ago. We did a package deal where we had a couples massage, both had facials and then did manicures and pedicures. Every treatment was amazing! Donna (whom I loved) did my pedicure and facial. She was knowledgable and professional and I didn't feel pressured to buy products. I know now that the facial products I'm using are crap....but I'm pretty sure I already knew that. I'm aging (ugh) and out in the sun a lot, and I need to use better products. Donna had great recommendations and gave me samples of a couple different products so I could try them out and see what I like. The facilities were great, and very clean! I first came here about a year ago when I moved to California. It is part of a strip of stores and doesn't appear very big... but i was pleasantly surprised when I went inside.... I parked in the back parking lot and when in through the back door. I was put into the 'spa' area to wait for my appointment ( I suggest going early enough to be able to enjoy the hot tub, the steam room, or sauna...unless your treatments prevent that... but some will prevent it AFTER .. so give yourself time before and/or after)... I relaxed and have experienced the hot and cold stone massage... HEAVEN!!!..the cold stones were a little TOO cold, so they put a cover over me to minimize the chill.. very accommodating.... I LOVE to take the shiatsu hydrotherapy bath ( relaxing scalp massage while in the scented tub)... NICE.... I have had a few different facials as well, and enjoyed them all..... I have since been back several times and will miss this place when I move to Colorado..... read more

I came here twice to have my eyebrow waxed. Donna is simply AMAZING in fixing eyebrows!! My eyebrows come in a shape that is very difficult to shape, most people cannot fix it; I've tried waxing, threading, plucking at many different places, but this place is by far THE BEST! I would not go anywhere else after I experienced how great Donna is!! She would fix your eyebrows to the shape that best fits your face! LOVE IT!! I surprised my girlfriend with a couples massage right after Valentine's Day and we both had great massages. The therapists really focused on our individual issues and left us feeling like new people. The front desk staff lauren who booked my appointment was helpful in choosing the package that was best for us and was just as helpful and nice in person. This spa is excellent! It is very clean, the staff is wonderful, and the treatments that I received were world class. (60 minute massage and mani/pedi.) The spa itself is worth the cash. It is very zen in the steam room(which is quite HOT...I like that), and the jacuzzi is clean and the perfect temperature. Although Chinese is prominent on the signage, everyone speaks fluent English and can help you. It's the perfect blend of east meets west. The staff is great. While receiving my pedi, the manicurist asked if I would like some lotion for my face bc I had washed after the hot steam and my skin was dry. They go way above and beyond their job description to make you comfortable and happy. I have heard weekends can be busier...I went mid-week, mid-day. So factor that in. I seriously had THE BEST massage today! I have been to my share of spas and I don't think I have ever had a massage better than what I received today! The amenities were nice with showers, a sauna, steam room and a jacuzzi. They have a little area for teas, water and some light snacks. All of that isn't important because I left feeling so great that I wanted to join for membership right then and there! It is pretty pricy but there are always deals on the web so keep an eye out! Come 30 min early if you are getting a facial and massage. That way you can go to the sauna for a few minutes before your facial to open up the pores. You can go back to the spa area after your facial but it is not recommended to go back to the sauna after your facial for obvious reasons. So get there early! I recommend: xanadu massage read more

I discovered this little gem a few years ago as part of a "Spa Week" special. From the front view - it looks like a little store front business in Arcadia but once you step inside it's a whole different world! The staffing have always been very pleasant, professional and friendly and they make an effort to remember your special needs. I'm a bit on "fluffy" and have had awkward moments at other spas with the no so "one-size" fits all robe. This wasn't at all the case at Spa Xanadu and I didn't feel embarrassed or awkward at all. The facilities are beautiful from the very zen like waiting area with a wall fountain to the women's spa facilities which have plenty of locker space, a Jacuzzi, steam room and a sauna. But that's not all...they have healthy snacks and tea to help you relax before and after your treatment. As for the services, I've never been disappointed and always leave feeling rested and relaxed. Although I live in Long Beach...it's well worth the drive for me to pamper myself at Spa Xanadu. When my daughter is in town - we often have a girls outing at the Spa. Came here with my friend on Friday because of spaweek.com. We decided to get a facial and a massage because of the time we were coming they had to schedule our facial before the massage. Even though we would of preferred the other way around but we didn't want to be there too late so we just left it like that. We were about 20 mins late due to LA Friday traffic however, they were still able to accommodate us without having to take any time away from us. When we got there they were still able to accommodate us which was nice. After filling out the new customer paperwork they brought us into the facilities. It is pretty small in there. There's a wall of about 20 mini lockers and then there's a steam room,sauna, 2 shower and a jacuzzi. Pretty nice and clean, except the fake plant they have near the jacuzzi I could see the dust on the sides of the leaves so that was a little disturbing to me. The rooms where the services were done were nice and clean. The facial itself was okay, the lady told me a lot about my skin and offered things to do to help it out. My only problem is that at the end my face didn't do well with their products cause a few days later I was breaking out. Next I got their stone massage, since I recently got in an accident weeks prior to this. I was glad the lady doing my massage was using just the amount of pressure at the time. The stones were not too hot I came out of the room a lot more relaxed and some of the knots I had were gone. read more

Thank you...or should I say NO THANKS to my Brazilian torture nightmare today!!! I wanted a wax and normally I just get it done at the nail shop. But nooooo I wanted spa experience today!! Well after a torturous experience $135 and the first three layers of my skin getting torn off, I couldn't wait to run out of there. I also had to clean my own wax off after it was over. She gave me some baby wipes. That was different to say the least. The clinician also messed up my eyebrows. She waxed them flat on top instead of arches and rounded. So now I look like the headlights of an evil race car coming at you. DO NOT get your Brazilian done here. Stick to the inexpensive and non torturing nail spa. I made an appointment for 1 and planned on arriving 30 minutes early so I could use the facilities. Unfortunately due a pervious appointment at another place the same day I arrived at 12:45. Luckily the Asian lady I think she may be the owner offered to move my appointment up. I moved it up to 1:45 so I had an hour to myself in the steam room, jacuzzi and vanity. I guess Wednesdays are very slow because I was the only person in the spa area which was awesome. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I asked the girl in the front to turn the sauna on and she said that the steam room is better before a massage. Personally I prefer the sauna but whatever. I think it may not be working because I saw signs saying sauna would be closed during the summer to avoid heat stroke. We are no longer in summer months so that should be taken down and the customer should be allowed to choose what they feel is best for them. Also the woman's restroom water faucet sprays water out so don't turn it all the way up or you will get splashed, the jacuzzi had too much water in it so when turned on it created a big puddle. Personally idc about any of that but some people may. Small stuff that can be easily fixed. Anyway I loved the products they have, the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and body lotion all smelled amazing and left my hair and skin soft. My massage was the best better than the one at Burke Williams. My masseuse was Sylvia. She helped me relax and get all the knots out of my back. I got the 60 min signature massage. It was great!! I got a promotion price for only $50 on spa week. Heck yes!!! I will definitely be back when they have another special. One thing I am very interested in trying here is the endermologie the lady said it's $490 for 7 and I forgot how much for 14 sessions but I have done endermologie before I've seen wonderful results and this price is awesome!!! One big plus is she said her endermologie clients can use this spa as well. This is a huge plus I can't wait to try it in a few months. Endermologie is a cellulite reducing treatment which also tightens the skin and helps with elasticity keeping the skin youthful. You do need to drink a lot of water and eat healthy tho there is no magic, but as long as you follow the instructions you will see results. Came in just for a pedi, fourth of July weekend. Beautiful place but I guess when there was only one customer I should have known it wouldn't be great. The spa chairs are awesome. Everything is new and clean here. The man who did my toes was not very friendly, forgot that I asked for a flower on my toes- so I didn't get one and also left my toes looking like I did them myself. I asked the woman to fix my jagged big toes (the manager?) she did quickly. But in the end I hate spending $23 plus a tip for what I could have done at home. The joy of a fancy pedi is it looking so polished and perfect and decorated that you feel pampered. Oh well, back to Harmony in Old Town Pasadena. :- / -update... When I paid at front desk, the girl noticed we didn't look happy. I didn't want to complain but my sister pointed out that since it was my first pedi in 6 months due to being a new mom of twins, I should. The girl agreed I should. So I told her what happened and she expressed great concern saying it shouldn't be like that and they want all customers to leave happy. She suggested I not tip, but having worked for tips forever, I couldn't do it. She said she'd tell corporate (?!) and offered us a coupon to come back, not a discount on current bill- for a whopping 20%. Well, that's not gonna happen. I was feeling really weak after the hydrotherapy. I think it was just too hot and my body couldn't take it. But she immediately cooled me down and let me take a break. It was really attentive of her. Ana answered the phone and assisted me in choosing the spa package that was great for my husband and I. His deep-tissue massages are very effective for muscle pain issues. Since I have been having massages twice a month by Allen, my back spasms are virtually gone. My best friend, who has MS, lives in Oregon and whenever she comes for a visit she goes to Allen who helps her greatly with her muscle spasms. Xanadu is a lovey spa; pretty, clean, quiet, smells wonderful, serves delicious spa-water, and has a very friendly atmosphere. I recently decided to switch hairdressers, so now Michael Keller who also works at Xanadu, cuts my hair and gives me the best cut of my life! I pass by many spas and salons on my drive from Altadena to Arcadia but it is really worth the few extra minutes drive to get the best at reasonable prices. I'm not a facial or mani-pedi gal, but of course all of these services are available. Anna gave my 85 year old Dad a lovely facial during his hospice days and treated him like royalty. I've been to a few other spa's and gotten facials and walked away semi happy but I am very impressed with this spa! I could finally say, I found my go to spa! I went here to have a girls day with my best friend and relax. Didn't expect much out of it cause it was a local spa but wanted to give it a try after reading all the reviews. Plus I'm a vey picky person and hard to satisfy lol. So I went here with no expectations. I am amazing with Dona and their techniques on extracting your pores! Dona explained to me that they do not use a needle to extract your pores when it's not necessary. Letting me leave their spa with no scabbing or overly irritated skin. They even give you a small massage during your facial which makes your experience even more relaxing! For my massage, I had Evelin. Whenever I get massages I usually have one that's either focused on taking out your knots and not really relaxing or I have one that's solely a relaxing massage where I'm able to sleep throughout the massage. However, my massage with Evelin was both! She was able to target my problem areas and take out my knots but at the same time was very relaxing! The front desk did not make me feel welcome as they could not figure out what my gift certificate was and since I only had it on my iphone, they said they could not honor it unless I printed it out. After the 2 receptionist bickered with each other for 15 minutes, they finally let us in. He escorted me to a waiting room where dirty dishes were sitting. He removed them immediately, but we saw them already which gave me a less than relaxing feeling knowing that someone just finished their meal in here and they were really not ready for us. He did not wipe the table. My masseuse was a little old asian lady that had no power in her hands. I did not feel any more relaxed after her frail massage. The steam did not work. For the price, you would expect a better selection of drinks and snacks. All they had was hot water and green tea bags and ice water. No lemon wedges. I came in on Saturday for the first time with my mother for her birthday. I booked two Swedish massages online at 3:15 earlier in the month with Sylvia & Lin Ping. I tried calling them to let them know my mom has a back condition, and that I wanted to make sure they were aware. They didn't answer, so I emailed them instead. I never got a response. Then the week of my appointment, I got an email confirmation saying they were booked for 4pm. I tried calling again to clarify any misunderstandings. Again, they didn't answer. The day of I called to let them know I was running a few minutes late. The receptionist said she already moved our appt down 15 minutes because they were running behind. Neither times they moved our appts did they call to confirm if this was okay?? I work in the beauty industry and it should be mandatory (with any company) that you notify the customer if their appt is moved. Lucky for them I was running little late, and didn't need to be anywhere after, but it's still unprofessional in my opinion. When we got there I told the receptionist about the email, and she said she replied. I looked thoroughly through my email and never saw a response. We finally saw our massage therapists about 4:30, Sylvia & Nazeli. I wasn't originally scheduled to see Nazeli, but figured they changed it because they were running behind. She took me inside a room that looked like a hydrobath room, not a massage room. They offered the couple's suite upstairs but we didn't think anything of it, and said downstairs was ok. If I had known about the situation I would have opted for the couple's suite. Overall, the massage was great. Nazeli was nice, professional, and focused on a lot of problem areas. My mother was satisfied with her service as well. I would have rated lower if the service itself didn't go well but overall it did. I just think the front desk needs to improve on their communication and professionalism. read more

On July 17, Donna at Spa Xanadu gave me the best skin-treatment/facial I've ever had. You'll see in my review history that I'd actually had a not-so-good massage experience there last January, although I understand that isn't at all the norm. This time - five stars, all the way. Yes, straight guys like cosmetic facials...because some of us don't give a ____ if other guys think having blackhead-filled pores is somehow more manly ;-) Not only did Donna clean up my skin, but the treatment includes some phenomenal scalp, neck, hand and arm massage. Update - April 2017 - I'm still a big fan of Spa Xanadu and Donna and you HAVE to check out their subscription plan which, for just under $70 a month, allows you your choice of either a facial or a massage once monthly. I went yesterday to get a pregnancy massage and to get a facial. I didn't get an hr long massage that was only 45 mins long and it wasn't all that great. My shoulder pop when she was rubbing it and that hurt! As far as acking legs and feet go I think your better off going somewhere else cause my kids do a better job. The only thing good was the back rub. BTW her name was Natalie Next I was getting done the Oriental Acupressure Facial by some one else her name was Donna and I was told that I was better off getting the Hydra Facial since my face needed it. First time here and it didn't start off good. The receptionist walked me to the spa but she didn't walk with me she walked in front of me and she was in such a hurry. I have never been here and wished she would have showed me around but she didn't. She just walked me into the spa and left. The services I have received (massage) have been great, but... I called and booked an appointment yesterday after discovering I could not pay with a gift card online. On arriving for my appointment I was informed there was no booking and no one available. I also asked if there was a way to avoid this kind of problem in the future (like get a confirmation code) and did not get a response. Very frustrating as I don't have a lot of time for scheduling these kind of services. I booked a, "Just the Two of Us" couples package and it was awesome. The staff was very attentive and courteous. My GF and I had a private "spa" with a steam room, couples shower, bathroom and change area. The first thing you will notice is how clean everything is. It gives you confidence that management truly cares about its clientele. The massage therapists used hot and cold stones as part of the process and it really made my body tingle. I have been overly stressed at work for months and the massage removed all the knots that were causing me headaches and muscle soreness. We took breaks at the snack area with green tea, coffee and light snacks. I never spent as much as I did that night on a massage, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Love this spa! The minute I walk in, I just breathe and relax. The ambiance is wonderful and staff are super friendly. Purchase a spa service and you get to use the spa amenities too...sauna, stream room, lounge, jacuzzi, etc. Fresh lemon water left for you too. Huge inside...I was surprised. Street parking and small lot behind with back entrance. Get leg and armpit waxing fine with both Donna & Joyee...no complaints! Beautiful girls, great conversation if you want it and smooth, silky waxed parts! The wax they use I prefer to honey wax...it's superb and not as irritating to my skin if that's possible with waxing! They finish up with a blue azula oil that soothes and cools my skin. Been getting waxed here for over a year and prefer it to other spots hands down.
