Space 5 is a whole vibe. The atmosphere is artful and welcoming, with a sleek, space-themed aesthetic. Every angle is photo-worthy. The staff is extremely professional and helpful when it comes to navigating the experience because trust me, it is a process. We had Amir, and he was outstanding very professional and clearly knowledgeable at what he does. There are three dining options: Korean BBQ, sushi, and pho. You can choose two out of three, but for just $5 more per person, you can enjoy all three, which is absolutely worth it. The sushi is top tier. I highly recommend the Marrero roll and the Space 5 roll. Overall, an amazing experience and definitely worth checking out

Great place! I'm so excited places like this are coming to the westbank and it's such a good value! It's an AYCE where you have to choose two of the three types at minimum but you can also choose all three - hotpot, sushi, and Korean BBQ. Personally I do think the first time you come here can be overwhelming trying to figure out the menu and what to order but our server was helpful and patient with us. She answered our questions quickly and didn't mind helping us first-timers. The lunch deal was definitely good value for what you pay - can't wait for them to open back up to try dinner. It's dark and intimate in there but definitely bustling as you move back and forth from your table to the buffet bar with everyone else around. Lots of great options at the buffet bar and a spot for you to make your own sauce combo. Be careful you don't grab more than you can eat, I believe they charge for uneaten food. Love the quality of the food and excited to come back!

Finally! We've been waiting for this place to open for the longest time! Space 5 features a unique dining experience in touch of Asian culture: Kbbq, hotpot, and sushi! Though other restaurants already have this same concept, Space 5 is unique in its All You Can Eat experience where you can choose 2 of 3 experiences to dine for $34 per person! We tried the Kbbq and hotpot and it was honestly better than I expected. The kbbq meats were all displayed on the buffet bar while the hotpot meats were able to be ordered at the table. We tried many options for both but some that I liked were the Spicy calamari and regular pork belly for kbbq and tonkatsu broth for hotpot. We heard the sushi was also good but didn't order it this time! There were a lot of variety with kbbq meats along with options for making your sauce which I liked. In addition, the dessert items consisted of Wishing town's desserts which caught me by surprise. I tried the tiramisu, passion fruit mousse, and taro chantilly cake. All were okay but if i had to choose a favorite of those, i like the tiramisu if it had much less expresso. Some cons of the establishment would be that my seating area was definitely not the cleanest. There were dirty napkins on the floor and some areas of the bar were not well kept. Kids were loud and running around - I'm hoping some type of rule is implemented but in the future to restrict this. On another note, I'd love to try some other kbbq meats and their sushi in another visit. In comparison to other nearby restaurants similar to this, Space 5 definitely takes the cake over Ombu bbq/ hotpot, Gangnam kbbq, Panda king hotpot, etc.

My girlfriend and I visited this place on a Friday night pretty soon after their grand opening. We were met with a 45 minute wait, but there are things to do in nearby plazas so the wait isn't too bad. We entered the waitlist and came back 45 minutes later and were sat shortly after. The ambiance is very unique and I like their whole space theme. Our waitress was good, service through the whole restaurant was a bit slow but granted they were pretty busy. Even though we grab most of the food ourselves, she checked up on us pretty often which I appreciated. The decor is super cool and there are lots of neon lights which made it a KBBQ experience I haven't had before. The food was pretty good, some meats better than others. My favorites were the KBBQ spicy pork belly (9/10), regular pork belly (8/10) and beef ribs (7/10). The hotpot meats were okay and honestly didn't have that much flavor to them, but you have options of sauces and seasonings. We got the tonkatsu broth (9/10) and Szechuan spicy (6/10). We only did the hotpot + KBBQ combo and didn't try the sushi, but I think it's worth the price of around $34 for 2 options. I also got a matcha cheese foam drink, and it wasn't that good. It was more like those tea packets that have matcha in them. I also don't think it had cheese foam, so not what i was expecting. Some of my critiques: - The place itself is kind of cramped especially around the areas where you grab food. It doesn't help that there are kids running around. I feel like there should be a rule for this. - We didn't get utensils for a while. I feel that's something that should have been ready as soon as we sat. Overall, I would recommend this place since there aren't many good KBBQ spots in NOLA!

What a cool concept!!!! The vibe in here is amazing, very space-like. The service was cool, he made sure we knew everything and ensured we received all that we ordered. The food was great!!!! The all-you-can-eat feature was super fire!!!! The options are endless, there's something for everyone. I'm ready to go back whenever they reopen.

What an amazing spot to get ayce hotpot, kbbq, and sushi! The place is so cool and neat, it was a whole experience! There was so many food options, more than I expected and seen elsewhere. The meat quality and selection was top tier. One of the best hotpot and kbbq spots I've been to! I highly recommend and would come back!

I had the pleasure of dining here for lunch with some of my coworkers. We really enjoyed the space theme! The buffet area was nice and plentiful with a lot of options. I chose to get the golden chicken base for my hot pot. I enjoyed the flavor and the fresh veggies and noodles I chose off the buffet. My favorite items were the spicy marinated chicken and the spicy beef bulgogi, both were grilled. The reason for not giving 5 stars is because they were out of a couple of drink options and the some of the pre prepared food from the buffet were cold.

Aesthetically this place is it. Definitely fun for kids. I love Korean bbq so I thought everything was tasty including the hotpot. The difference compared to other Korean bbq restaurants I found was that you get your own meats and fried appetizers from the bar instead of them being delivered to the table. I took away a star since our booth only had one grill at the end of the table to cook our meats. We had to hand our plates to the person on the end to cook for everyone.

Great new KBBQ hot spot place. Very cool interior design. We got the sushi, hot pot & bbq option. Lots of veggie and meat options! Was disappointed in the lack of dessert options available but nonetheless great experience overall. Service could improve. It was a busy night understandably but would be great to improve available servers as this dining experience is dependent on placing orders with the servers too. Hope to continue seeing this restaurant gain popularity while still maintaining cleanliness and quality!

Unique outer space theme atmosphere, great food, and service. It was our first time there, and our server was very informative walked us through how the whole dining experience works.

Personally, I honestly don't understand the hate that Space 5 gets. I dined here twice (once with some friends and another time with a family member) and every time I always have a good experience. Service is always nice and generous. They don't rush you whenever you're eating even when there's a 2 hour limit. The inside aesthetic is very unique as it literally feels like you're in space when you step inside. As for the food, I thought it was pretty good for Louisiana standards. Meats were good and had flavor to them. Veggies were okay too. Their tom yum was flavorful. I only got their hot pot & Korean bbq combo for dinner ($33.99 per person) the two times I went there. I can only speak from my own experience there, but I honestly have no complaints. I would recommend coming here if you're in the area and craving kbbq and/or hot pot. They also have a sushi option too, but I haven't tried it yet. I might choose it the next time I come by.

There was tons of parking all around the park across the street. Inside had something like 6 or 8 tables and a bar to sit at. They also have outdoor seating. You order at the register and they bring it out to you. I ordered the 2 meat 1 side combo. They didn't have burnt ends at the time, which I'm still dying to try. Instead I went with ribs and chicken with Mac and cheese. I've been getting used to bbq places bringing you small wimpy ribs, but this says two ribs on the menu it's more like three and some change they're so big. These ribs were so juicy, perfect amount of char, tons of flavor. Throw some of the table bbq to dip in and wow. Same with the chicken juicy, with a light crispy skin, and also even better with the bbq. Mac and cheese was also great. It was super cheesy and had a nice kick to it.

Overall pretty good I would definitely go back to get another order of burnt ends.

I didn't want to get a whole plate so I just got a side of potato salad and a side of bacon Mac n cheese. My Mac n cheese did not have bacon and they did not tell me they were out of bacon when I ordered. I ordered it to go. It was almost $17 which surprised me because each side is only $6.00 so I asked what the extra charge was for and she said they charge $2 for to go orders to package it. The packaging is cheap styrofoam containers and a thin paper bag. None of it is high quality or bio degradable. Why is it $2? If I had ordered it to dine in and then asked for something to take it to go would they have charged me $2 after I had already paid?

I tried ordering turkey wings? Turkey necks and oysters and neither were available so I opted for steak medium well, red beans and green beans; my daughter ordered the loaded potato with pulled pork (flavored amazingly) and mac and cheese (absolutely horrible) my husband ordered salmon and shrimp, dirty rice and green beans. Steak came out the 1st time, it was well done.... Sent back for a 2nd time; came out and this time the steak is a different cut where it's thick on one side and thin on the other side and it was done and the thick side RAW at this point I'm irritated and it was sent back and I decided not to get anything else. The green beans were definitely from the can with no flavor. My husband's salmon was ok, the red beans were good and the dirty rice as well. My daughter's food came out and although the pulled pork was good the rest was a no go which threw the entire meal off. It took forever for the food to come although we were the only ones! I tried my best to be positive in it all but it just did not work out and I definitely will not be giving it another try when I'm back visiting,

Ohhhhh snap. This place absolutely slaps!!…read more If you are looking for southern Creole soul food that actually understands the assignment and did the homework, this is the place. No notes. Standing ovation. First things first, do not be a chicken. Yes, it is outside the tourist bubble. Yes, you might clutch your pearls for a second on the drive. Relax. We felt completely safe, and it is a short ride from the French Quarter. The only thing in danger here is your belt notch! The atmosphere is exactly what a soul food kitchen should be. Cafeteria line moving with purpose. Staff smiling like they know something you do not yet know. Portions so generous they feel personal. And just enough grease permanently bonded to the surfaces to let you know the food is about to be correct. Now the food. Lord help me. This is not food you politely eat. This is food with soul. The kind of soul that makes you want to slap your mamma, then immediately apologize and say damnit three times while chewing. Every bite tastes like somebody's auntie took offense to the idea of under seasoning. Just look at the plates. It was heaven served in a clamshell. No garnish. No nonsense. Just pure comfort. If you grew up in the South, this will feel like home. If you are from the North and curious what southern comfort food actually tastes like, practice your "Hey, Yall" in the mirror and commit fully for lunch. One warning. They sell food until it is gone. When it is gone, it is gone! So if you want that heavy mac and cheese energy, you better show up early and hungry. Final takeaway. We went in for lunch. I left happy, full, and slightly greasy, with the overwhelming urge to take a nap and call someone I love. She didn't answer so I regulated my emotions with a piece of cake from the girl in the corner - you'll see when you arrive. So don't skip dessert!!

Sigh. Disclaimer: the food just isn't the same anymore…read more My parents live on the Westbank, so whenever I come home to visit and stay more than a few days, I always make a stop here, specifically for their stewed okra on Tuesdays. I hadn't eaten here in over a year, but two years ago that okra SMACKED. It was so good I had to stop myself from eating the entire container in one sitting. This time, though, it tasted completely different. Honestly, I mostly picked over it. It did have a decent amount of seasoning meat in it, which I appreciated, but the flavor was just off. My mother agreed. I also ordered the stuffed catfish, and unfortunately the catfish tasted almost entirely like blackened seasoning and nothing else. It used to have much more flavor and balance than that. The yams were fine, and the seafood dressing tasted the same as usual, but I was really disappointed because the okra was always the star of the show for me. Since that's no longer hitting the same, I honestly won't be back. And mind you, this was after standing in line for ~90 minutes. I will say the workers still have that Southern hospitality, and the customer service itself was pleasant. But while standing in line and watching the workflow, it was easy to think of multiple ways the business could improve efficiency. I'm honestly surprised those issues haven't been addressed yet. If you want to go for the experience, then sure, go for it. But don't expect to be blown away. For me, the wait time, prices, and food quality just didn't live up to the hype anymore.
