I visited Space Aliens a few months ago and honestly, the biggest reason to go here is the experience. The interior is super fun -- bright colors, quirky alien décor everywhere, themed seating, and a playful atmosphere that makes the place feel lively right when you walk in. Even as a 35-year-old, I had a blast checking it all out. The arcade adds to the fun and makes it a great spot if you want something more interactive than a typical dinner out. It definitely feels like a place designed to be memorable rather than just another restaurant. Food-wise, it was okay -- nothing bad, just not the main highlight. The menu items we tried were fine but didn't stand out compared to the overall environment. This is definitely a spot where the aesthetic and theme are the draw, not necessarily the cuisine. One item that didn't quite land for me was the grilled cheese with the cheese "skirt." It looked impressive on the plate, but the flavor didn't live up to the visual. The cheese crisp had more of a burnt, greasy taste than that golden, toasty crunch you hope for, and it kind of overpowered the sandwich instead of adding to it. My son and husband love this place. They have amazing happy hour deals every day and the food is always good. Our favorites are the loaded baked potatoes, ribs, Martian munchies, onion blossom, and pizzas (not so much the brisket options though). It's an awesome place to brings kids (especially space fans) because of the games, prizes, party area, and collectible alien drink cups. Plus this time they had their alien mascot come out! I have not been to a space aliens since 2006, when my son had his birthday party there as a 2 year old and they were open in St Cloud. I am starting to collect alien merch and I saw on their website they had some things. I ordered pickle fries with Cajun ranch dip and a Caesar salad side salad. What they gave me was a huge portion and a tiny portion of dressing. I needed to ask for more dressing. Of course they had Diet Pepsi and Dr Pepper and when asked to mix them the ratio was very small. They did give me more Dr Pepper. The pickle fries were good and I brought most of them home. 4 Stars - Space Aliens Bar & Grill I had the best time at Space Aliens Bar & Grill and I'm giving it 4 stars! This place really shines if you want a dining experience that's not boring. As soon as we walked in the theme hit us. It's really cool and a lot of thought went into creating an alien environment - not just a few posters but a whole vibe with fun decor and lighting that transports you. And the bonus of seeing the mascot was awesome, especially for younger diners or the young at heart! The food was good, for the most part. We enjoyed our meals and they were well prepared and satisfying. My only minor complaint would be that some things could have used a bit more seasoning to really pop. But that was a small thing and didn't detract from the overall meal which was still really good. Service was top notch! Our server was excellent and super helpful. They were patient with all our questions and made great recommendations and made us feel taken care of the whole time. It really made the experience. This is a fun place, especially for kids, but could use a bit of an upgrade. Me and my friends decided to relive our childhood and check out Space Aliens! Our server was fantastic and helpful with the menu. We went on a Wednesday so a couple of us got the unlimited BBQ, which is quite a good deal. The Martian munchies were quite good but everything else was meh. The brisket had a weird taste to it and looked like it had been sitting out for a while. My friend said the ribs were pretty good and we didn't try the pulled pork. The fries were standard and I got nacho cheese sauce which was fun. The Mac n cheese was not good and neither was my friends coleslaw. After we ate, we played some games! There are a limited number of games and most of them were games of chance rather than skill. They also had a lot of claw machines. I got some tickets and a couple of prizes but the prices were a little steep. Both were BIG baked potatoes, with lots of toppings. The brisket was tender and tasty, and the chicken was good, but not much of it. My daughter ordered the BBQ ribs, and they were really good, however the coleslaw was not good. Bland, and sort of day-old texture. The burgers were ok. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. Appetizers were overpriced in my opinion, for what you get, but the pickle fries were tasty enough, and the onion bloomer was also pretty good, but the dip was lacking. Had probably one of the worst margaritas ever, but I didn't say anything, so that's on me for not speaking up. I have always enjoyed a reasonably priced bbq spot. This place has good bbq sauce if you like non-spicy bbq. Even their Cajun version isn't spicy. The nacho cheese is always on point. Sunday was a great night drink specials and app specials, the Jalapeño rockets were amazing melts cheese in the center. The Martian munchies and loaded baked potatoes were very good. The ribs which is what their specialty is, were not that impressive due to the amount of bone and fat chucks that I got with my bbq platter. More meat would have been a huge win, the ribs were a little dry had to hit it with some bbq sauce which fixed the dry texture. Th portion for mot sticks was huge. I think the service in the bar area wasn't great and I had my drink empty and wasn't refilled once. I always look at service based on my drinks being filled from water, to soda, to booze. The ambiance in the bar was typical bar TV's running multiple channels hints on all the different TV's. Overall I'd recommend apps for sure the main munchies were good dry but good. Took my boys here on a weekday and they loved it! When we first walked in we saw all the fun alien decor and it kinda felt like going to "Pizza Planet" from Toy Story haha! Very fun! Good bbq here. Fall off the Bone goodness ribs. Landed on a wednesday here were the special is ayce ribs, brisket, pull pork and munchies (pork), along with two sides. An interesting little destination off the beaten path in Albertville. They might best be described as a small-scale Dave & Buster's with a focus on barbecue, stuffed potatoes, and pizzas. This is a great spot if you're looking for a kid-friendly destination as they have an arcade, but the food is just average. The atmosphere was fun and kitchy. My daughter loves aliens so this was the perfect place for her. We ordered our food, and the got game play cards and went and played in the arcade while waiting on food. The arcade is small, and if the restaurant was busy it would be crowded, as we came right at opening the atmosphere was calm and staff was attentive. The food was not exceptional but my kids enjoyed it. I was not a huge fan of the cajun powder sprinkled on stuff and the chicken was way over sauced for me (but next time I'll just ask for it on the side since I frequently find stuff over sauced for me.) My son and daughter we very happy with their food choices. When my children were ready to cash out their tickets, the restaurant had picked up and the staff was struggling to bounce back and forth between the dining room and the prize area. This place is kind of weird. It reminds me of the pizza place from the first Toy Story movie. But if you can get past the odd alien décor and Chuck E Cheese like atmosphere, this place actually is a pretty good place to grab a bite to eat. Now there is nothing wrong with their business plan. They market themselves as a nicer (and it is) Chuck E Cheese where you can get some tasty food and let your kids go wild in their attached video arcade (seriously, Toy Story Pizza Palace). The arcade is pretty nice. You can use a card to keep track of points so that you don't have to worry about collecting tickets. You can turn those points in for overpriced prizes. The game assortment is fun though; they have a Jurassic Park video cabinet so that is a win in my book. My children had a fun time playing some of the games. The place is also very clean and all of the games work. You think that should be a given, but after being in a few arcade places myself, I can tell you that is sadly not always the case. Now on to the food. You wouldn't think to expect a delicious food menu from an arcade/restaurant hybrid but this place has some pretty good BBQ. My wife and I especially like their Martian Munchies, tender strips of meat that are flash fried and covered in BBQ Sauce. Their brisket is also very tasty. Honestly, when we are in the area and we are craving BBQ, we make a B-line for this place. So it is kid-friendly, good food, and great service. Now, here I am 15 years later coming back for the first time with my almost 2 year old daughter. It was great! We were driving to Big Lake to go to a brewery and my friends told me all about Space Alien and their fantastic baked potatoes. Stuff baked potatoes happen to be one of my favorite meals so, I was 100% committed to making sure we stopped there on our way home. We walked in and you see a register area with tons of shirts, prizes, and other Space Alien merch. This is a cool place if you have kids. They can play games, eat pizza, and win prizes. Now that's not my scene so I immediately wandered to the bar. It was Sunday and they were running an all-day Happy Hour with you call it's for $3.00, and discounts on beers. You really can't go wrong with the you call it deal! They also had 1/2 off on appetizers so we went with some Wings from Planet X, Outer Space Onion Blossom, and Cheddar Cheese Jalapeno rockets. They are all decent for the price. The wings has good flavor and were cooked well. Then came time for the baked potatoes for $8.99. I choose the Bar-B- Que Baked Potatoes which is topped with butter, sour cream cheddar cheese, bacon bits, onion petals, and their own special BBQ sauce and chives. OMG this hit the spot. I know every time we go I have to get this because it was just what I wanted. I had high expectations as the pictures and reviews online made me think of Pizza Planet from Toy Story. I was mildly disappointed. I will start with the Pros: Their cheesy garlic bread was freaking delicious! You don't even need dipping sauce to indulge in these mouth watering darlings. The decor is all galactic themed and there's a nostalgic retro-ness to the place hats pretty cool. Very kid friendly and you can let your kids run around in the arcade area and not worry about them disrupting the ambience. Ok no the Cons: We had the slowest and most forgetful waitress ever. After being seated no one came for over 10 minutes. Once someone came and we ordered we were only checked on once and then had to flag someone down to finally get our check. The arcade games are overpriced. I know the cost of goods has gone up, but $1.00 to hit a button on a roulette game is insane. The other food aside from the cheesy bread was less than stellar. Mediocre at best and I think that's being generous. The whole place feels outdated. Yes I mentioned it being Retro, but there are tips and tears on the vinyl seats, the carpet has obviously stains everywhere, and our booth was dirty when we sat down. Visited this location for a get together with friends. I've been to a few other locations but not the one in Albertville. I was interested in giving this location a try. They have parking all around the building with a larger lot in the back. I went on a pretty busy Saturday. Upon walking in is the normal host stand with the merchandise counter and arcade prizes. At arrival we were showed to a table fairly quick. It was pretty noisy due to the kids and the arcade being near which was expected, especially on a Saturday. Service and food time was increased a bit more than normal due to the busy time of day. The waitress was very pleasant, professional, was able to answer questions about the menu items, and held a brief conversation for a few second break between running about from table to table. Our group decided to check out the arcade while we were there as well. You pay at a machine, receive a card that holds the amount of money, and swipe it to play a game. Games run around $0.25 - $2.00 a play. The arcade room itself it pretty cramped. In some areas, if someone is playing a game or watching, it may be hard to get by. There were a decent amount of games out of order but we were able to find a few games that interested us. My friend did have an issue with a game taking double credits for one game but this only occurred once. At the counter to redeem your points earned for prizes, it can be busy with people trying to decide but they have an electronic tracker shown on a TV to show how many points you have and have redeemed. I do wish they had more practical options to redeem prizes but it's mainly aimed at younger children so it makes sense. Overall prizes are reasonable, service is pretty good, cleanliness could use some work in a few areas, and props to the prize counter attendants for their patience with indecisive individuals! read more
