Throughout the design process, Mosaik's team listened to our ideas, our pain points, and desires and steered us to a design that fit within our existing footprint AND increased functionality and circulation ten-fold. Our whole -house renovation included: finishing the basement with two bedrooms, a lounge, a bathroom and new utility room; a complete remodel of the main floor including creating a connection between the new laundry (brought up from the basement) and our dream kitchen. We updated all our mechanicals for the future with a new heat pump, heat-pump water heater, upgraded electrical panel and a car charger, added a radon mitigation system and treated ourselves to a central vacuum system. There were a lot of moving parts on this project and Mosaik's coordination and understanding of remodeling brought the project in on time and without any cost surprises. Mosaik has cultivated strong relationships with all the trades and material suppliers which is why they are able to complete projects on time and with the highest level of craftmanship. All the subcontractors showed up on time and performed their work with the utmost integrity and skill. Having worked in the construction industry for 20 years, I have rarely worked with anyone who matches Mosaik's integrity, communication quality and attention to detail. Scott's communication is top-notched-he built a realistic schedule and kept us apprised at every step of the project. He never assumed anything without checking in first and if there was weather or supply-chain delays he always doubled efforts to keep to that schedule. Erin quickly and efficiently understood how we use our home (read - two kids and a dog), and the period of our home and pointed us to materials, appliances, and finishes that are timeless and durable. We hired this company in September 2025 for a full home remodel and paid about $60k in deposits and progress payments. Throughout the project, we were repeatedly told the home would be move-in ready by mid-November and that a guest bathroom was "usable." When we arrived onsite on Nov 27, we found unsafe and unusable conditions that were later confirmed by two independent licensed GCs, including damage to drywall and paint, tile that had to be removed to access underlying damage, exposed electrical work, plumbing done without permits, and partially constructed areas left unsafe. We later learned the GC was not licensed in Washington State, permits were never pulled, and subcontractors had not been paid despite our payments. Subcontractors contacted us directly about payment and lien concerns. Our insurance claim for resulting property damage was denied due to workmanship exclusions. As of January 2026, the home is still uninhabitable and must be redone by licensed professionals. We're posting this to help others avoid a similar situation.

I called and the office person was wonderful and she said the owner would call me back to discuss next steps. Well today I talked to the owner and outlined my process so far. I had mentioned I started my search at Home Depot and had an idea of cabinets and countertops. He said he was a design build firm and people come to them to design, this was said in what I felt was a dismissive tone. The conversations started to take a turn. I said "don't customers have an idea of colors?". He then went to tell me that his company does remodels in the ballpark of 50K. He never asked me the size of my home or my budget. I guess my money is not good enough. I can only imagine the communication on a project if this is how the first impression went. UPDATE: the owner of Craftsman Design and Build got wind of this post and called to make this right. He did sincerely apologize. He called because he wanted this post down/revised. I understand that a bad review here can be hurtful to a business. I use reviews here to learn and choose where to spend my $. I am updating my rating a smidge because he did reach out to me. Her enthusiasm, taste, style, persona, eye for detail, organization skills, project management, and overall friendliness are beyond reproach, Myself and my wife had been on the fence about selling or renovating and were losing hope of finding a contractor until my wife found Krisanna and Recast Homes. From the moment we met her both my wife and I felt at ease, relaxed and the weigh of what seemed like the world was lifted. It was now an easy decision and we were staying in our home! One thing that jumped out at us and was a fantastic bonus is that she is not only a GC but also an interior / exterior designer. We spoke with Krisanna about remodeling our kitchen, making our laundry room more functional, updating the downstairs powder room, changing the flooring, redoing the stairs, building a loft and adding a wall to separate the dining room from the front room. What happened next blew us away! She took all the ideas that we had and then added to and enhanced each of them. Krisanna laid out a clear and concise timeline for the project and was able to tell us what was happening on each day and week for the duration of the renovation. Once we committed to the project the scale of the project became apparent to us but Krisanna was able to get ahead of any issue and would meet with us in person and by phone to discuss colors, materials, style, lighting. Once all the decision were made the demo started on time and on the day we had planned. Like every renovation project there are always unforeseen issues and we had water damage at the back door, powder room and under the kitchen island from slow leaks due to old bad CPVC piping. Krisanna immediately informed us of what was found, had a plan in place and repairs scheduled the same day. She would also arrive to the house and say things "like I have been thinking about this wall ..... we should leave a section open at the top for added light" and it made the wall 10x better. The samples she brought, the colors, paint, the furnishings, accessories, stove ideas, kitchen pendants and faucets were all exactly what we had wanted but could not put together on our own. Her help with the flooring was incredibly and spent many hours with us at CFM helping us decide on what worked best for the cabinetry color scheme. The finished product is jaw dropping and the quality of the finish is outstanding. We are delighted with how the house looks and how functional it now is. I have an office again, we have a Loft for a kids play room, a beautiful kitchen, front room, dinning room, family room and the laundry room is exceptional. If you have project and need a general contractor or designer then the only realistic option is Krisanna and Recast Home. She is simply the absolute best!!!
