They took a kitchen to the studs and built a masterpiece for my wife and me. How much do we love them? We rehired them to renovate our master bathroom completely. The fact that we rehired them should tell you all that you need to know about how amazing they are. So, again, the best review is that we are using them again, and you should use them too because they are the best. What made them the best: 1) They helped us save a lot of money. They have a unique approach to ordering materials for the project. They let us know what they needed, and we ordered it directly. We ordered the new cabinets, the new doors, the new appliances, etc. By doing this, there was no additional markup on the items ordered, and it saved us a lot of money. Other contractors we met with didn't want to do this, and their quotes were at least 20 percent more than PDX Homeworks. 2) Their work. Unlike other contractors that we have had in the past. When they saw something that wasn't quite right but that we would never know about, they didn't just cover it up and move on; THEY MADE IT RIGHT. Not to mention that their work is very precise. I once watched Nick get so frustrated when he was leveling the kitchen as he tried to level everything because it was off, to me, an imperceptible amount. At least the amount was imperceptible to me, but to Nick, it wasn't perfectly level, and he continued until it met his exacting needs. 3) Helping with design. We were amazed at how painless the whole design process of our kitchen was. We gave Amanda some inspirational pictures, and she came back with a fantastic design that only required a few minor tweaks. THANK YOU, AMANDA. 4) They only work on one project at a time. It is just Nick, Amanda, and Kailash. They don't have multiple crews doing multiple jobs that they are overseeing. They were at our house every day, working and working. It was so lovely that we had consistency in seeing them every day. 5) They're very clean. Every day, they would use drop cloths on the ground to make sure they didn't get the carpets dirty. I even told them that they didn't need to do that because I was getting the carpets cleaned after they were done. They didn't listen to me and continued to use drop cloths every day. They also vacuumed and cleaned up every day. It was a very clean renovation. 6) They are just the nicest people. It was great getting to know them during the whole process of our renovation. They don't do this type of work to become huge builders with millions of dollars of work completed every year. They are just the nicest people who love remodeling, helping people out, and helping them save money where they can. Again, we can't say enough good things about them except that we used them, again, to renovate our master bathroom. They explained it was likely due to them not being familiar with the home. And also said the dust bunnies left under the middle of the dining room table were likely stuck to the chair legs. (But they were literally in the middle of the floor under the table). They did offer to come back and reclean a couple days later but that didn't work in my schedule so I just cleaned it myself. I sent photos of the missed areas to be clear about what was missed. I was told open feedback was welcome. They were supposed to come back and clean monthly. A couple days after I confirm scheduling for their next cleaning (yes I was willing to give it another chance) I get an email that they won't be returning as we aren't a fit. The complaint included that I was unable to get on the phone and talk to them (I'm on the phone all day with work so couldn't answer when they called so provided everything to them in text message). -and that they were frustrated I cleaned the areas myself rather than having them come back at an inconvenient time for me. I didn't ask for any of my money back from the deep clean and was willing to have them back to try regular cleaning. Go ahead and give them a try but when they miss areas be prepared that they will just cancel you rather than taking the feedback and improving. Very unprofessional.

Remodeling a kitchen is a pretty major under taking, and was quite an investment for us, so we…read morewanted to go with someone we felt confident with, and after our first meeting with Jerry and Issac, (a meeting totally set around our schedule, btw) we felt like a team. Often, with contractors, after everything is signed you never see the owners again. Not the case with PPB, the owners, and project manager were there everyday, checking in, and documenting the progress. Speaking of progress, our full-kitchen remodel was finished 4 weeks ahead of schedule, and included many cool features and ideas they included in the design. PPB also greatly minimized the pain-in the butt that goes with having major construction done about ten feet from your bedroom. They sectioned off the entire work area with double sided tarp, and had lock box, so we had a lot of privacy and relatively little dust through out the job, (and left the place every night way cleaner than it was before we hired them). This kind of endeavor is never easy, there's always problems, and they handled all of them with ease and grace. (At least on our end) In fact for us, that's one of the best qualities about PPB is that they soak up all the headaches involved in a project of this scope; permits, inspections, a multitude of (borderline unreasonable) requests from their clients, all taken care of with a "no problem" attitude. And our kitchen looks better than we ever imagined. Highly recommend.

Remodeling my floating home was something I wanted done, but not something I wanted to do. All this to say, I started my search for a designer with a dream for my space, but also with a heavy heart and a substantial amount of dread. I discovered Space Reimagined through a Google search and was immediately drawn to the professionalism of the website and the beautiful project photos. Jackie returned my call to inquire the same day, and put me at east right away with her friendliness, competence, and confidence. After a lovely a phone conversation, followed by a visit to my home to tour the space, I knew in my heart that I'd lucked into something wonderful. From literally day one through the final walk-through, Jackie made me feel completely taken care of. Her knowledge of the industry, exemplary taste, and deep commitment to my comfort with every decision never wavered. She truly listened to me, spent countless hours talking me through each step, and continuously impressed me with her ability to keep straight the countless details a full-house remodel entails. Jackie's communication skills are exemplary. She provided me with updates almost every day and held fast to the timeline she set early on. Throughout the several months we worked together, there was never a challenge that arose that Jackie wasn't right on top of. Projects of this size inevitably have their twists and turns, but Jackie was always one step ahead with a solution (sometimes more than one!) Throughout the project, Jackie remained incredibly accessible. She made time for my questions and ensured that I had I had all the information needed to inform each decision. We contracted with Weitzer for a kitchen remodel, and everything we learned to look out for when…read moredoing our due diligence ended up being done right. Being located in SE Portland, they have experience in dealing with houses that are over 100 years old (as is ours), and Weitzer's in-house cabinet shop means that they can custom build a solution for each project. From the first day, through the finishing touches, we had a lead carpenter who was here doing most of the tasks himself or with other Weitzer employees when needed, coordinating with and directing subcontractors, and communicating with the project manager who planned the remodel and created the schedule. Communication with my wife and I, and everyone else involved in the project was first rate, and a big factor in a successful, timely remodel. After they took down the plaster on the walls and ceiling and pulled up the floor, the lead carpenter consulted with other experienced Weitzer project people to make sure everyone was in agreement on planning for what to do with the hundred year old framing that they found inside. Our peace of mind at having new wiring, plumbing, and beams, studs and joists to keep everything correctly correctly supported is a, emotionally, a huge component of this job. Based on conversations with their own employees and with subcontractors, Weitzer is a good place to work, and pays their subcontractors promptly - which is apparently not always the case in the construction world. The payoff for the customer is that the employees all seem to enjoy working together for the greater good, and skilled subcontractors are willing to be flexible with the inevitable scheduling hiccups to show up when needed and keep things moving along. Since most tasks cannot be started until a previous step is complete, Weitzer's scheduling is able to be realistic, and can be trusted. There are far more moving parts to this kind of project than I could have ever predicted myself - adjusting floor joists, rerouting wiring to fit a modern lighting plan, using the right kinds of insulation for thermal or acoustic purposes, choosing paint that will stand up to the rigors of kitchen cabinet use, laser measurement for countertops, leveling the ceiling so that crown molding in different parts of the room does not interfere with cabinet doors opening and closing, matching window and door trim to other parts of the house - Weitzer's team coped with it all, and were not fazed by any of the things that could not be known until the old walls and ceiling came down. This kind of job is not cheap - but Weitzer's bid was right in line with other design-build firms that we contacted, and in watching the project as it went along, I developed an appreciation for all the components of the budget, and how they added up to the total cost, and contributed to a successful project.

The Weitzer crew said it would take 5 months and it took exactly 5 months! Our project manager worked well with our architect and all the subcontractors, with very few delays.
