Phenomenal!!!! Recast Homes spearheaded by Krisanna is the kind of contractor that your dream you will find yourself working with. Her enthusiasm, taste, style, persona, eye for detail, organization skills, project management, and overall friendliness are beyond reproach, Myself and my wife had been on the fence about selling or renovating and were losing hope of finding a contractor until my wife found Krisanna and Recast Homes. From the moment we met her both my wife and I felt at ease, relaxed and the weigh of what seemed like the world was lifted. It was now an easy decision and we were staying in our home! One thing that jumped out at us and was a fantastic bonus is that she is not only a GC but also an interior / exterior designer. We spoke with Krisanna about remodeling our kitchen, making our laundry room more functional, updating the downstairs powder room, changing the flooring, redoing the stairs, building a loft and adding a wall to separate the dining room from the front room. What happened next blew us away! She took all the ideas that we had and then added to and enhanced each of them. Krisanna laid out a clear and concise timeline for the project and was able to tell us what was happening on each day and week for the duration of the renovation. Once we committed to the project the scale of the project became apparent to us but Krisanna was able to get ahead of any issue and would meet with us in person and by phone to discuss colors, materials, style, lighting. Once all the decision were made the demo started on time and on the day we had planned. Like every renovation project there are always unforeseen issues and we had water damage at the back door, powder room and under the kitchen island from slow leaks due to old bad CPVC piping. Krisanna immediately informed us of what was found, had a plan in place and repairs scheduled the same day. She would also arrive to the house and say things "like I have been thinking about this wall ..... we should leave a section open at the top for added light" and it made the wall 10x better. The samples she brought, the colors, paint, the furnishings, accessories, stove ideas, kitchen pendants and faucets were all exactly what we had wanted but could not put together on our own. Her help with the flooring was incredibly and spent many hours with us at CFM helping us decide on what worked best for the cabinetry color scheme. The finished product is jaw dropping and the quality of the finish is outstanding. We are delighted with how the house looks and how functional it now is. I have an office again, we have a Loft for a kids play room, a beautiful kitchen, front room, dinning room, family room and the laundry room is exceptional. If you have project and need a general contractor or designer then the only realistic option is Krisanna and Recast Home. She is simply the absolute best!!! read more

The only way to do a remodel! We initially contracted with Krisanna and her team just for the design portion of our project, but when our build contractor went silent, we pivoted back to Recast for the entire project, and I'm so glad we made that move! Our project consisted of a large-scale kitchen remodel with touches extending throughout the house, including removal of a load-bearing wall. As a person who dislikes uncertainty, it was frankly a recipe for disaster. However, Krisanna and her team made the project a dream. Her incredible organizational skills and regular communication kept me calm and informed, and we were ever appreciative of her keen design eye and interest in making little improvements and adjustments along the way, as the work came together. In the end, we have an amazing new space that more than exceeded our expectations and that Recast managed to deliver on time, on budget, and with zero stress for us! read more

We bought a house in Portland during COVID. At the time, we were living out of state. Before we moved in, we wanted to do some disruptive work on the house. This left us with the huge task of finding a designer, a general contractor, and do everything without being able to meet any of them in person. And we knew hardly anyone in Portland. We found 3 designers and interviewed them over the phone. Krisanna specifically wanted to see the house, so we gave her the lockbox code and we FaceTime'd through it. I should note that she's better with FaceTime than anyone I've met, which came in very handy! She had a lot of ideas and energy and was able to understand what we wanted very quickly. She seemed very excited to take on the project. A huge bonus is that she's not just a designer, but also a general contractor. So she could manage the whole project too. The simplification was appealing to us. She was the clear winner. Although we were very happy with her design work, especially paint colors and an inexpensive makeover she did on an ugly master bathroom, she really shone with managing the project. She provided remarkably accurate date projections going out as far as 4 weeks. This is not something we've seen with any contractor before. Also important is that the project came in very close to budget, if you ignore all the stuff we added as the project unfolded. She was always easy to reach by phone and by text and would give us frequent updates. She was on site either all the time or during the important parts of the day to check on and verify the quality of the work. I've had many contractors in the past promise this, but Krisanna delivered. The major parts of our project consisted of: Sanding the hardwood floors, removing all the carpet and installing cork flooring, painting the interior, constructing an indoor/outdoor catio, and building two aviaries (one indoor and one indoor/outdoor). Everything came out beautifully. We happened to have an amazingly terrible remodelling experience on our previous house so we were very sensitive and bruised from that experience. Krisanna restored our faith in the existence of good contractors that do great work and have high quality subs. "We were first time home renovators so our biggest concerns were finding someone local (small business owner) who we felt was going to be an active listener, trustworthy, reliable, and would not try to upsell us through each stage of the project. Looking back at the project it was large. With Krisanna's reassurance, each step felt manageable and she had great communication to keep us apprised of what was being done at present and what was coming up next. In total we ended up renovating 2 of the 3 floors of our home: main bedroom, added a full en suite bathroom, brand new kitchen, opened up the main entryway and added a mudroom/pantry at the backdoor. Krisanna is an excellent project manager and returned our now beautifully renovated home to us all within 6.5 months. Truly incredible the amount of the work they did during that short time. One of Krisanna's many skill sets is project management and organization, so overall there were very few surprises or challenges that came up in total; she worked hard to plan ahead for any and all possible scenarios. Our home was built in 1924 so when we started demo and opening walls there were few things that we needed to address. She immediately called us (usually facetime) to talk through what happened but since she always planned ahead we already had back up plans so it was just a matter of confirming what those next steps were going to look like and confirming the change order. If you are looking for someone with excellent communication and project management skills, with a keen eye for design, then you really do not need to look any further. Krisanna met and exceeded every expectation we had for this project, and on top of that she is a friend who we still keep in touch with regularly. It was very reassuring knowing that she was on site everyday and providing us morning & evening updates to the work that was getting done, there was never a day in the project that our home wasn't being worked on, even when there were delays, the team always provided a creative solution on how to keep the project moving along. Recast Homes is the real deal. Krisanna is kind, creative, calm, professional, responsive and talented and has built a team of people with those same traits. We remodeled our master bedroom and bathroom with Recast last year and have been reveling in the space ever since. After receiving many quotes from a variety of contractors Krisanna was the first person to enter the space and immediately propose a completely new and unique idea. Her quote was accurate and transparent. The flow of the design process was full of fun and excitement as Krisanna presented us with an assortment of great ideas - all while remaining open to our wishes and needs. Krisanna and the entire team at Recast Homes are an absolute pleasure to work with! I am not sure that I actually have the words to express the stark contrast we experienced with Recast Homes compared to prior contractors we have worked with through various remodeling projects over the years - but it is substantial. In a field with a reputation for overpromising and underdelivering with what seems to be an industry standard level of under-communication, Krisanna was a breath of fresh air. If she said she was going to call, she called. If she said something would be done at a certain time, it would be done. If you called, she either answered or got right back to you. If you don't have much experience with remodel projects and working with contractors these last few attributes are worth their weight in gold. Not to say we didn't have any unexpected/unforeseeable problems or delays along the way- but Krisanna took every challenge head on and proactively came up with a solution or options for us in a clear and concise manner - always offering her opinion, but never forcing it. We thoroughly enjoyed the design portion of the process and it became immediately evident that the entire team was passionate about what they do and their priority is client satisfaction. You never felt you were being sold anything - it always felt like a collaborative process where the only acceptable outcome for both sides would be a win-win. The transition from design to build was seamless with clear timelines and expectations outlined in black and white - complete with a calendar showing every step from start to completion. This timeline was followed like clockwork throughout the project and if there was ever any deviation, we were informed immediately with what to expect now and what the plan was to keep things on track for the final completion date - a target deadline that was refreshingly hit. We were so blown away by the customer service throughout the process that it is easy to forget to mention the final product. We are thrilled with the outcome and absolutely love living in our new "recast" home. Krisanna remodeled our kitchen, laundry room/mud room, garage, entry, and repurposed a sort of odd detached family room into a beautiful spare bedroom with ensuite full bath. Everyone we have had over has been amazed by the transition - so much so that Krisanna is about to start work on a family members home.
