I made a reservation well in advance and even called three separate times to confirm it. Despite all of those confirmations, the restaurant still managed to completely lose and forget our reservation. There was no reasonable explanation and little effort to make things right. Mistakes and delays seemed to happen at every turn, and it felt like the staff was disorganized and unprepared. Instead of enjoying a relaxing evening, we spent the entire time dealing with one frustration after another. The food itself was okay--certainly nothing special--but even a good meal couldn't overcome the chaos and poor service. When I tried to order another meal because my lasagna was such a small portion served in a soup bowl the General Manager told me I had to pay for the lasagna anyway but I could order an additional meal - talk about poor management! When you're celebrating or looking forward to a night out, you expect a restaurant to at least get the basics right. Giuseppe's failed on nearly every level. Because of the repeated reservation mistakes, poor service, and ongoing mishandling of our meal, what should have been an enjoyable evening was completely ruined. Our server, who we later learned was the bartender and not a usual server, took our drink orders. A few of us ordered the Hugo spritz, one gal got a beer, and a few other cocktails were ordered. We got our drinks and they were enjoyable. The problem began when we were ordering food. One girl in our group is Celiac and literally can not eat gluten. She ordered the salmon and asked to be sure the potato salad was gluten free. If things are fried or prepared in the same place as gluten objects, she is incredibly ill for weeks afterwards. She has to be super careful. His response was, "I think so." She told him she was celiac and had a true gluten allergy, and she needed him to be sure. Meanwhile, the menu boasts about how they proudly serve gluten free options right on the bottom. He then said, "yeah, I'm pretty sure it is." He genuinely did not seem concerned. She ended up ordering it but felt uncomfortable about whether or not it was really safe for her. Another girl at the end of the table asked him to please double check, as it was really a serious allergy. He said, "Yeah I am going to ask the chef. I wasn't going to just ignore it and make all you girls mad." He had the snarkiest tone when he said it, and it was incredibly, incredibly rude. That right there gave us a bad taste in our mouths. He came back out and said he checked with the chef, and it was indeed gluten free. Food came out and all tasted good. But when a restaurant prides itself on gluten free options, and then makes it so hard to order, it's not a good look. We wouldn't be back.

It felt like an unexpected glimpse behind the curtain, and admittedly, not the most professional one. Shortly thereafter, we realized that it was our own waitress who was commenting on the very event we were attending. While we chose to take it in stride and even found some humor in the situation as the evening unfolded, it did lend a slightly chaotic undertone to the service.
