I am in town for work and they organized a night out. We had a large group, about 30, and called ahead to let them know we'd be coming. For the size of our group our waitress did a great job. I had The Works, a large platter with a sampling of everyone of the sauces, with bow tie pasta. If you like to try different sauces and like a mass quantity of food, this is for you. This was a massive plate of bowtie pasta and a dollop of each sauce. The sauces weren't labeled but looking at the list I could guess. My two favorite were the original marinara and the Cajun style Alfredo. I would stay away from the hot naked or hope they make a new batch, either the butter or oils tasted rancid. I liked some of the other red ones but I am not sure which ones they were. My meal came with salad bar and it was pretty good, many toppings and different cold pastas. This isn't a place I would have picked to eat at with all the other great options in Omaha. The service was good and the food was alright, but it's more of a quantity over quality type of place. read more

Are you thinking of stopping in after an afternoon of wandering around the Old Market? No, no, no no no, no no, no, no, no, no. First, the service was almost absent. Refills were hard to come by. The garlic bread was limp, cold, flavorless, and in some cases rock hard. My husband ordered spaghetti. The sauce was watery. I got linguine "hot naked" with fried clams. They definitely spare the expense of extra virgin olive oil. There was nothing virgin about it; they might as well have used canola. And the clams... brr. I'm not entirely sure there were clams embedded in the hard chunks of over-fried batter. And even better, the whole dish was lukewarm. In fact, everything was. One in our party had to send her whole plate back because it had actually crossed the line into cold. I had high hopes for the salad bar, because how can you screw up a salad bar? At 59 years old, this was my first time in Omaha. The old market area has a nice laid back vibe and the atmosphere in this restaurant is really cool. I had dinner here the evening prior to the start of the 2019 college baseball world series. My wait was short and the service was great. The salad bar had a nice selection but the plates were appetizer sized. No one complained when I piled heaps of lettuce on two of them. The pasta was cooked al dente so no complaint there. I was surprised that the meat sauce was sweet... a little too sweet for my taste. I also sampled the alfredo sauce which lacked flavor and the beer cheese sauce which was surprisingly yummy. I probably won't return since there are so many other places to check out in the old market area. But i wouldn't recommend that you NOT visit - if only to enjoy a drink and the ambiance. read more

We've been regulars for a very long time. The service is hit-or-miss. There are some very good servers and some not so good. The quality of the meal seems to depend on who is in the kitchen, or so I'm told by my servers when things aren't right. We just roll with it because we eat there with our children a few times a month. My biggest issue is that anytime we eat there on the weekends we're crossing our fingers that we won't be accosted by the balloon lady. It would be nice if she were set up with a booth or a station instead of interrupting our meal with her pitch. It's extremely awkward. read more

The beer cheese sauce is the best. I found a way to cook it at home (since there is no Spaghetti Works in Arizona), but there is nothing like the real thing. Another must-go when I visit the old midwest. REVISED: After my most recent visit, it was brought to my attention that the salad bar plates shrunk dramatically, as did the portions for the main course. And the prices were raised. Why??? I realize both the salad and spaghetti are all you can eat, so why not have a decent portion size (at least the first go around)? "I took 3 bites of my spaghetti and now I'm done. This spot has a great deal to get the salad bar, pasta, and garlic bread for around $10-$15 dollars depending on what is in your pasta. I went with this deal and got the Pasta w/ 3 sauces; Alfredo, Marinara, and Hot Naked (yes, that is a sauce!) Salad bar and garlic bread was on point but the pasta was simply cooked penne with the 3 sauces plopped on top. I'm curious as to why they didn't mix the pasta with the sauces in a pan before serving. Instead, I had to mix it but that doesn't taste as good as when it's mixed in a pan. Either way, it ended up tasted pretty good after I mixed it and cut up my sausage. I probably would've gave it 4 stars if my pasta was mixed. I'm sure they would do this if you asked. Still a solid food choice with many options of pasta and pizza as well. read more

If I had the choice, I would give this place a 3.5 out of 5. This restaurant is a great place to spend your money, especially when you are on a budget. We often get the unlimited serving of pasta, salad, and bread for a little under $9. With this meal if you want special toppings (ex mushrooms, meatballs, shrimp, etc), you need to pay a little more. But once you finish one bowl of pasta, you can get another one with a different sauce. Excite your taste buds! The pasta itself is so-so (3/5). The bread they serve is alright (3.5/5). Nothing too fancy, but it's tasty. The service isn't too bad either. And I could not be any happier with the price. Being a college student, I pinch pennies when I can. It is located in the Old Market. Yes, it may be difficult to find parking nearby so just anticipate that. If you want an authentic Italian restaurant, this may not be the place. It is what it is...it'll keep the kids happy. Salad bar is pretty good. Portions are large, Italian sodas have free refills. We've been a few times; it gets pretty hot during the dog days of summer and can be warm inside which makes for a pretty uncomfortable dinner. Winter/spring is better. When you come to the old market come here! I have been coming here for 40 years and I love it great atmosphere of the old market, oh the sounds of people enjoying themselves the pasta is awesome I recommend the hot and naked, beer and cheese, the original or spicy - if you want to try them all get the "works" it's a plate of all nine sauces oh and dont forget to add Italian sausage and meat balls.....the salad bar is good. The only down side is the usual 45 min wait but you can sit on the patio with a drink and enjoy the flavor of down town Omaha attraction we always have a good time a great couple or family destination for the day. This was my first visit to Spaghetti Works but it won't be my last! Upon arrival ( 1 PM) I was greeted and seated promptly. My server, Andrea M was very personable and was able to explain many items on the menu. I opted for the lasagna with a glass of the house Chianti. First off I have to say how funny it is that the menu says "our tempting salad bar" because I don't find slimy lettuce very tempting. It was hard to tell how bad the lettuce was until I got back to our table. (The salad bar doesn't have any lighting over it.) I order the regular meat sauce and it was good. Only thing I would change is to make it a bit less watery. My fiance got the chicken fettuccine and it was pretty good. I liked his choice better than mine! I'm surprised to read all the poor reviews, as we were blown away by this place. We had a wedding rehearsal dinner here with about 50 people and the service was attentive and fast--they really did an amazing job, and I've never seen a single waitress manage a room that large so well and easily. We all enjoyed our meals and the variety offered, I really liked the free refill option (without which I would have downgraded my review a star, as the bowl of pasta I got was quite small, so I had two), and the prices were very good. I had the combination bowl with mostacolli and alfredo, clam white, and spicy marinara sauces (which are poured on different parts of the pasta bowl so they're adjacent but not mixed), all of which were very enjoyable and not the same as what I get out of a jar at home. My wife is gluten/lactose intolerant, so this place was especially awesome because she was able to get rice noodles and a dairy-free sauce, which is almost unheard of in Italian-style restaurants. I rarely give five star reviews, but during our time at Spaghetti Works there were no detractions. Great food, great service, and an overall great experience. I've been looking for a good pasta place to eat that is inexpensive and tasty. I was so glad I stumbled upon this restaurant! I walked in and was seated quickly. I was happy to see that there are unlimited refills on pasta, salad, drinks and bread. My server was friendly and attentive. My drink was always refilled. It is a nice place with a good environment. I used to love Spaghetti Works as a child and wanted to share that with my children. I was slightly disappointed in our experience. Upon entry to the restaurant the hostess was rude and acted as if we were an inconvenience to seat in the not busy restaurant. She threw our menus down on the table when we got to it and she walked away. It was ridiculous. Our server, thankfully, was much better. He wasn't the most fabulous and never did get my husband a beer, but our food was delivered warm. The salad bar was good and the food was good as well. This is not a gourmet Italian restaurant, but it is a good tasting meal that you won't leave hungry from. I am hoping that if we go again, we will have a better experience. read more

Service was fine, polite and quick. However, the food was awful. Maybe it was nostalgia that made me think this place was good. The lasagna was lukewarm and congealed. The grilled chicken Alfredo was just terrible, I am not a skilled enough author to describe how bad it was. And the cheese tortellini was clearly the frozen stuff you can get at Walmart. It was a disappointing visit to Spaghetti Works. The restaurant was pretty empty (only three tables in our section) and it still took them over 15 minutes to come to our table. We ended up going to the bar ourselves to get drinks. Once we had our food we only had our server stop by our table once to check on us. We asked for a water refill and they forgot that. Spaghetti Works is an excellent restaurant to eat at. At times this place can become extremely packed, and on days like that there will most likely be a 15-30 minute wait for a table to appear. But if you go during the week or perhaps at night, you can usually get a seat right away. The waiters are nice people and attend to your orders very quickly, and then you can eat at the salad bar. The salad bar is quite excellent - one because of the quality of the food & it's taste, and two because they keep putting fresh batches of food on the salad bar. They aren't like other salad bars that serve old food from the previous day. The salad bar is filling in itself, so try not to get too full before your order comes. Your order usually arrives in 15-20 minutes, and each time the plate arrives the food is presented very well. The pasta here is top notch as well as the various sauces you can put on your pasta. You can also put a topping on your pasta such as a link of sausage, 6-12 shrimp & more. Each time I eat here I am always satisfied - Spaghetti Works hasn't failed me one time. So yes, I highly recommend that you come here to eat. read more

This place is optimal for family or big groups of all ages. They have options for everyone from carnivores and vegetarians. They also have a full bar; however, the food is just "ok". The salad bar comes with each meal but is very basic- I can't say for sure they have a vegan dressing other than maybe the balsamic vinegar. Service was pretty good- nothing over the top by any means but our server was quick and answered the questions we had. I had a a good time but wouldn't go here for a "fancy" date.
