So in short, I think spaghetti Works is pretty much the very casual nothing fancy type of place which offers a great salad buffet. I'm being honest here. This is not the Spaghetti Works of 20 years ago. The portions are so much smaller and the food is not even that good. I wasn't expecting that when we decided. Waiter checked on us once. I think the problem here is they don't have enough waiters or waitresses to serve all the tables so they're already stretched thin. We got seated right next to a door that led to the patio that every time they went through it the door would slam so that didn't help for the ambience per se in the experience. Will I go there again? We stopped here for lunch during a road trip and it was a good choice! The server was good, the food was tasty and the endless salad bar served in the bed of an old truck was cool and different. I was surprised the salad bar was open but pleased with the safety measures in place. I didn't really care about all you can eat pasta as pasta is so filling... I ordered the cajun sprimp alfredo and it was tasty, however I tasted my friend's tortellini with cream sauce and WOW - it was AMAZING! Say what you will about Spaghetti Works, but it was solid enough for me to eat there twice during a week stay in Omaha. What is truly fascinating is the industrial pasta trend (spaghetti factory, warehouse, works, stockyard--wait that's not one.) For $10.95 you can eat endless pasta, filling the noodle shaped hole the cancelation of Olive Garden's never-ending pasta bowl left. Also included a salad bar in an old truck, though in my opinion there are too many weird ham salad or ambrosia type options. The wonton crispies were very good. I wish there was a more exotic lettuce blend, but again, $10.95. With your pasta you can also add toppings, both times I added sautéed button mushrooms to my first bowl, and despite the budget price, they were fresh mushrooms and not from can. At least I think they weren't? During my visits I tried the Cajun Alfredo, creamy pesto, beer cheese, and hot naked options. All served with Texas toast garlic bread. And with a variety of pasta shapes: spaghetti, fettuccine, farfalle, Angel hair, penne, and a whole grain rotini. Spaghetti Works is a regular event for my family. Almost every year we drive up from Kansas City to visit the zoo, or another Omaha attraction. Every time we visit the old market and usually end up at Spaghetti Works. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The place is large with plenty of seating so it never feels crowded. It has an authentic family atmosphere. read more

Service was abysmal. Food was decent. I am not usually a red sauce fan but this actually had more flavor than I usually find in restaurants. The artichoke dip was almost purely cheese and not served with enough bread. We did not receive any other bread which we later learned we were supposed to. When we went to get salad from the salad bar, they cleared our entire table. Also, the waitress never explained any of the salad bar. Ah - Spaghetti Works. If you've never been here, the old school vibes and location in the old market will probably have you thinking that this is an authentic Italian restaurant with above average spaghetti. I'm afraid this isn't the case. It's not that the food was bad - it wasn't - but it also wasn't anything special. They have a salad bar and offer pasta refills, and the price isn't too bad. But at that rate, I'd personally rather just save the money and make pasta at home, as the was the quality I felt I paid for. If you are looking for an affordable spot with decent food, this might be a great option for you but personally, it wasn't for me. The ambiance was probably my favorite part of eating here. In the warehouse district and a waiter named Giovanni, how can you go wrong? Ordered the lasagna. Comes with salad bar and garlic bread. As in most Italian places, lasagna portions are big. Had it with melted mozzarella. Sauce was somewhat sweet but also savory. Must have been at least 8+ layers. Very tasty! And couldn't eat all of it. Service was attentive. Seating is spaced well. Not noisy but was linch and wasn't too busy. Reasonable prices. If you're hungry for some good Italian stop here. read more

Good old Spaghetti Works. You can't say it isn't yummy! It's a staple in the Old Market area of Omaha and a place I've been to quite a few times. The price is great for what you get, but it's SO easy to overdo it. There weren't really any enforced COVID protocols in place, so that was a bit disappointing, but we were far enough away from other groups that it was okay. I've never had anything other than the unlimited pasta deal...because how could you order anything else...? But I'm sure that the rest of the menu is yummy as well. Let's be real...this place is good for large portions at a cheap price. Four of us came here on a late Sunday afternoon for dinner. The "American" Italian food fit the bill. I was a train wreck and couldn't stop eating the massive portion of eggplant Parmesan. Two of the other folks in our party ordered the Lasagna...one of them loved the sweeter mid-western meat sauce. I'd be here on a trip to Omaha about 6 years ago and must've romanticized this restaurant in my head. After returning, it just felt like a run down version of Applebees. If you come here... have low expectations... and they will be met. The service was okay but the food was OK at best and didn't seem fresh. Glad I stopped in for dinner. I had the chicken parm and added peppers and onions. It came with a slice of garlic toast which was delicious as well. I sat at the bar and Nick, the bartender, was super friendly and chatted the whole time. Salad bar came with my dinner. Due to COVID an employee would make your salad as you told them what you wanted in it. It was kind of hard to hear the employee but that wasn't a huge deal. Okay, so I don't know why these place has mid-level reviews-but it was great! Incredibly friendly environment all around, smugness decor inside and out. Looks like they have great outdoor seating on a patio for the warmer days too! My husband and I got pasta-obviously. He got this pizza as a pasta dish and it was fantastic! The spicy marinara was incredibly flavorful and not at watery or bland. Just easily great flavor and well filling! I got the gluten free (yes, they have gluten free!) cheese raviolis! My husband is a gluten free critic and he mentioned he never would've know it was even gluten free. Again, great flavor and well filled with cheese too. I got it with the sweet sausage, which has a very thin casing so it was easy to cut. Finally for the food, the garlic bread-WOAH! Just so good! Perfect crunchy crust, soft and gooey on the inside. And, it honestly even looks great- see pic. Lastly, we had Shawn as our waiter- such a great guy! Had some really good tips on just Omaha site seeing and was so attentive! He even took a moment to wipe away the water after the table had been cleaned (table was super wet when we sat down). He checked on us the right amount of time, was on point with refills and explaining the menu. I visited the Spaghetti Works in Omaha out of nostalgia, although we have one in my hometown. This location however hails back to the Spaghetti Works that I grew up with and not the reinvented one that we have at my town. The Decor is the very best part of your whole experience. Everywhere you look there's a new object to find and wonder about. The bar at this particular location is right up front and offers a nice variety of Stainglass and items to occupy your time. The food itself is just OK. You really don't come to the Spaghetti Works and expect amazing food. The salad bar was very fresh and very well-maintained which was nice. It seemed to be plenty cold and there was somebody there constantly restocking the items. The pasta itself was pretty Meh. It's satisfied my hunger but I don't know if it was worth the calories. I first tried their meat sauce which I did not like at all. I then tried their pesto which was much better. I also got a Italian soda for old time sake and that was very good. It was served in a beer style mug although it was plastic or resin, rather than glass. It was tasty and tell that the bartender cared to make it taste good. The serving rain that we didn't have much of her we weren't really ordering multiple courses at seven. Overall I don't think I will go back if I was in the area but I do think that everyone should go to the spaghetti Works at least once in their life to say that you have been. read more

We ordered takeout. One order of penne with hot naked sauce and char broiled sauce. They forgot the sauce. One order of spaghetti with spicy Italian sauce and 4 meatballs the size of a golf ball. One order of Cheese tortellini with 4 meatballs. The meatballs were $2.49 a piece and tasteless. I'm freezing them to toss in my own sauce or Chili. The portions for the price were less than they should have been. I would normally make 3 meals out of one serving and there was not even enough for another serving. I can't speak for the spicy Italian sauce but the Alfredo was bland like the meatballs. I fixed our salads at the fabulous salad bar and that was the best part of the meal . 3 people eating takeout for just under $80. Never again. They have a great thing going with their location in the Old Market and the atmosphere and service are great.
