A great addition to the Bell Blvd restaurants. My friends and I had an out-of-the-blue craving for tacos, so on our way home, we searched one of our favorite food neighborhoods and low and behold Spanglish NYC showed up on our list. We started out with some guacamole with chorizos that came with a basket is refillable long strip nachos. For our entrees, we ordered mahi mahi, carnitas, suadero, and camarones tacos, with a side of sweet plaintains and yuca fries. All were freshly made, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The mahi mahi was breaded and fried, resulting in a crunchy shell and flakey inside. The carnitas had a delicious vinegary tang and a hint of spice. The suadero was prepared well done, with a flavorful char. The camarones were cooked enough so that it kept it's crunch without being so chewy. As for our sides, the yuca fries were dusted with spices that I believe contained some cinnamon, sugar, chilli, and maybe lemon salt...that, along with a delicious spicy creamy dip made these piping hot yuca fries a perfect side to our sweet and slightly sticky plantains. Had dinner here on a Saturday night (7p) the restaurant wasn't too packed when my boyfriend and I walked in. We were able to choose where to sit since the restaurant was pretty empty at that point. Food: Guacamole con chorizo - the guacamole and chips were delicious and fresh Steak Tacos - the tacos were delicious and they served the perfect amount of steak - beware it's not a double corn tortilla My boyfriend had the mahi tacos (i had one) not really a fan of them -the fish was very bland and flavorless- it lacked chipotle mayo and just had one small piece of mahi-mahi We shared sweet plantains (which we think you can't really mess up and they did not disappoint) The yuca fries were good - too much chili but overall not bad For dessert we had the chocolate sphere - I hate to say it but they failed at imitating this dish from greats like Bodega Negra - they serve a brownie with Oreo ice cream surrounded by a white chocolate dome - the waiter then pours caramel over the dome for it to collapse but they don't realize how much caramel they pour it was insane - the final dish was not good! It was watery - I don't even think I tasted any ice cream the brownie was hard and too much white chocolate from the dome. Drinks: Margarita - very delicious and well served Catrina - it was okay El Ultimo Trago - def stronger Service: service was ok overall - we got served the food pretty quickly I would've liked them to space out the guacamole from the main entrees a bit - there was a little bit of a mix up where the waiter was giving our food to another table but he apologized (sort of a rookie move) Layout and design - I wish the restaurant had more space when it's empty it's fine but when it gets packed it's hard to walk through for bathrooms etc. Overall the drinks were great and I would come back for those and the guacamole but that's it. read more

Greeted with salsa and chips at our table. Absolutely delicious! Had to order another one just because! Had top 3 tacos choices on the menu (chicken, sirloin, and pork). Our party loved it! We also ordered ceviche and tuna tartar... DELICIOUS! There are 3 different types of sangria, white/red/peach, my opinion white was the best (passion fruit). This is a solid place to eat! First time patron at Spanglish and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I went in expecting to meet someone but they bailed at the last minute. I figured I would sit at the bar and enjoy a quick bite and drink before I departed. Whoever hires the bartenders did a fine job. I believe this guy's name was Joel or something like that. He and I carried on about drinks and life, and he put together a real good beverage. It was refreshing to experience a bartender who really knows the craft. I plan on coming back with girl. Came here for the first time and it was a complete disappointment! Waited super long after being seated to get some water and order food. The food (steak tacos) and (nachos) was horrible. The tacos only had guacamole and meat that wasn't steak, no flavor or anything else. The nachos were burnt to the plate and dry sour cream on top. Not a great experience at all. read more

Great addition to the 'Bell Blvd Food Scene'. The food is amazing and the service just wonderful. It's a tight space, so be prepared to be quite close to the strangers you'll be dining with, but they do the absolute best they can with the small space they have to work with. This is NOT your typical Tex-Mex place, so don't expect large portions, or free chips and salsa. And the prices may be a bit higher than you are used to paying, but you get what you pay for. A friend and I had dinner nearby at a different restaurant. We then decided to continue to evening by grabbing drinks at Spanglish a little after 9:30pm. The outdoor seating was not full at all. The waiter came to take our order and so we each ordered our drink. I explicitly said that we would only be ordering drinks knowing that it is no longer required for customers to order food with their alcoholic drinks at bars and restaurants. That NYS rule was mandated a year ago, but was lifted a week ago. It is no longer in effect. The waiter got us our drinks. Then he asked us if we wanted anything else? I said, "No thank you. We are only here to have drinks." That was the 2nd time I clearly expressed that to the same waiter. So all was good. 30 minutes later the same waiter came back to tell me that we are required to order food along with our drinks. I did not want to cause any drama or problem, even though I knew this was not the case. Maybe he didn't know, who knows. Whatever, obviously businesses took a hit during the pandemic and so I decided to order an appetizer for us despite being full. When it was time to leave, I get the check, and see that there is a 3.25% credit card use fee. I go out frequently to bars and restaurants and this is the first time I've been to a place that charges a credit card fee for food and drinks. But times are tough, maybe this will become more common moving forward across restaurants. BUT THEN, there was a 20% gratuity fee assessed as well. I'm not cheap and I like to tip well but okay? That 20% gratuity was already assessed by them. By the way, I know places put a mandatory gratuity for parties of at least several people. I get it. But a 20% gratuity required for 2 people? I did not argue or question anything there. It wasn't worth it. Just won't go back. That's all. I paid everything in full and just went on my way. read more

Disappointed ! Ordered pick up 2 arepas and 2 sangrias. Sangrias are good, but the arepas are SUPER DISAPPOINTING, don't even call them arepas ! These arepas are literally pita bread with some meat. They were not even stuffed with cheese as said in the menu. We event went over what came in the arepa with the employee through the phone. it was never said that the arepa was made with pita bread !! Come on, when you tell me arepa I expect my tortilla de maíz stuff with cheese and everything else! These were 14 a piece !!! Ugh ... Delicious entrees! We dined on their third day of their grand opening, I had the camarones chipotle and my husband, the skirt steak. Both were very well prepared and flavorful! You can tell someone who knows what they're doing is in the kitchen! My only feedback, which I did speak to the owners about, was that the "shareable" guacamole appetizer was way too small for both the price and to share. Came in on a Sunday with a friend for brunch, we were greeted and seated right away. We both ordered the spinach omelet and the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare was delicious, we loved it. After that we waited a bit of time for the omelets, our server mixed up our order and brought only one omelet to our table. That was a little annoying, since one of us sat and waited for her meal to come out while the other person was eating so the meal wouldn't be cold sitting at the table. If you live in the area I can definitely recommend Spanglish in my opinion it's great for adults only due to the small area seating but is worth it for a girls night out ,couples or just good evening with food and drinks. Eh. I really wanted to be blown away by this place. I wanted a new favorite Mexican restaurant in Bayside. I live down the block and have been following their Instagram for weeks now anticipating the opening. Anyone who knows me or anyone who has seen my other yelp reviews knows I am OBSESSED with Mexican food. I have been to Mexico over 15 times and taco Tuesday is a must at my house but this place was simply just EH. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't bad . But the portions were very small and the food was just okay. I understand that they are going for a city feel, but we are not in NYC. The $14 margarita was definitely not worth it. The queso fundidio did not come out in a hot skillet like most Mexican restaurants (instead it came out in some sort of microwave safe bowl). Rice and beans were good but had more of a Cuban flavor then a Mexican feel. Quesadilla was absolutely not worth the $ for size. They do no offer chips and salsa (what Mexican restaurant does not give chips and salsa!) Additionally, my husband and I are both vegetarian and feel like they lacked vegetarian options. Wait staff was friendly. I don't want to say that I won't be back but I def won't be running back here. Hoping to try it again in a few months when they have worked out their kinks and hopefully added to the menu. read more

Went here yesterday for dinner and my family loved it! The food was sooo delicious and service was pretty good too. The pricing was not bad and in my opinion, it was all worth it! I have been coming to this restaurant since it's opening and they have always been welcoming to everyone. There food is delicious and their drinks are even better, especially their Margaritas! I have been going there and picking up my 32 ounce margaritas since they re-open during the pandemic. It's seems to me some people have thin skin and can't take a joke! I was very disappointed. The restaurant is small but super cute. My boyfriend and I order the Mahi taco's which was 3 tacos for $15. Tacos were small and unseasoned. We love Mahi Mahi but this was literally a taco of fried fish and purple cabbage. The steak taco was the same way. The best taco was their chicken taco which actually tasted seasoned. We ordered frozen margaritas and never received them. They did give us a free drink at the end of it. We love taco Tuesdays, but we left Spanglish extremely disappointed. Last night me and my girlfriend went to try this new place on Bell boulevard. The place it's really cozy and lovely. The music was great. We start with some drinks. What I love from this place it's that they have fresh juices and fresh purés..... We order El Picosito and La Morada. Both of the cocktails were perfect. For our appetizer we share their fresh guacamole with chorizo and the Tuna Tartare. They were exquisite. For our main we ordered carnitas and suadero. Suadero are my favorite tacos.... Those Remember me exactly the tacos from Mexico. We ordered also the Carne Asada main. The temperature Medium Rare was perfect on the point. Yuca fries and plantains are the best. Please try it....... The service was friendly and pleasant. Inclusive the bartender made a special drink for my girlfriend. It was a lovely and relaxing night. I've been to Spanglish 3 times now, and the food never disappoints. I've tried all of their tacos, the mole enchiladas are AMAZING. They have great appetizers as well. Yuca fries are a great side. The ceviches were fresh and tasted so good and the guac options were amazing as well. Food portions seemed small but were so filling! Only problem with this place is that it's so tight inside, tables were too small to hold all the food we ordered and moving around was difficult. Made it a little uncomfortable.
