We visited Spanish Flower on North Main and had a good dinner and drinks. Unfortunately, the way our visit ended left us with a very negative impression. When we asked to close out our tab, the bartender brought us a receipt with a QR code that allowed us to pay directly from our phone. I scanned the code, completed the payment, and received confirmation thanking us for our payment. As we were walking to our vehicle, the same bartender ran outside and began yelling that we had not paid our tab. I calmly explained that we had paid and showed her the payment confirmation screenshot. I understand that mistakes and misunderstandings happen, but confronting guests outside and immediately assuming they are attempting to leave without paying is not an appropriate way to handle the situation. The payment system provided by the restaurant clearly allowed us to pay through the QR code. If employees are not properly trained on how that system works, the restaurant should either provide additional training or remove that payment option. The food and drinks were enjoyable, but the way we were treated at the end of the evening overshadowed the rest of the experience. Management should address this so other paying customers are not embarrassed or falsely accused. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for a while now, but just kept forgetting to... While seeing a friend, we decided to go get food. Ultimately, we decided to grab a medium fajita which is $50 before the server came by and recommended getting the larger one I did not realize that the larger one was literally double the cost almost at nearly $90. As shocking as it was, we kind of figured whatever while in Rome... The downright offensive side was when they came to the table and it looked honestly like the same size skillet of fajitas that you could get a chilies for like 20 bucks. Don't get me wrong. The food looked good when I saw it so I was still somewhat excited. That did not last long. I took one bite out of the fajitas, and the meat was bouncy and I could not tear it. There was so much like tendons still in it. The meat looked seared yet somehow was i bouncy and soft at the same time. It seemed like there was not an ounce of seasoning on the whole thing. I think we both attempted to eat one fajita before giving up on the plate. I would say probably about 1/6 of the plate was even touched. It was truly that bad mind you for the $90 worth of fajitas. They only give you six tortillas so that should tell you how tiny the portion actually is. Ambience-4/5 The restaurant was cute so I would say it had a decent feel. Price- 1/5 the most expensive Mexican restaurant I have ever been to and unfortunately, one of the worst quality I personally have experienced Altogether the service was OK... The food was pretty bad... And the prices are outrageous at least for what we ordered. This location is open 24 hours. There's ample parking. The service is pretty quick. They have plenty of seats for small and large lunch crowds. The portions are amazing and so filling. Fast and friendly service, super cute and festive atmosphere, and reasonably priced food and drinks, all contributed to a wonderful meal. The food was very good, though not necessarily rave-worthy. I had the carnitas, cooked crispy, and really enjoyed my meal. One thing that made me super happy was that they have nopales on the menu, which has been hard to find by in many of the more trendy Houston restaurants. I'm a sucker for cactus so obviously had to get it as an add on for my carnitas. The menu also had good kids meal options, and free ice cream for end of meal, so the whole family left happy. We almost didn't come because of the bad reviews in the past 6 months. But my husband grew up eating here and wanted to give it a try. We had a decent experience and this would've been a 5 star if the service was a little better. It was very cold in the front of the restaurant. But we sat in the back and it was way more comfortable. Also you park on the side and have to walk alllll the way around to the front of the building because the door back there is locked. The chips and salsa they serve when you sat down was phenomenal just needed salt. We ordered a queso with beef and it was very flavorful but the cheese was a little too runny for me. We ordered two beef caldos and they were loaded with vegetables just wish the vegetables were cut into bit size pieces. The tostadas with ground beef were amazing. And the sopapillas were good. I recently dined at Spanish Flowers, and I regret to say it has left a sour taste in my mouth, prompting me to seek alternatives for my future dining experiences. 1. The nachos were overloaded with bacon bits and ground beef, with only a sprinkle of fajita meat. I had specifically requested fajita meat as the main ingredient. For $26, I expected a generous serving of fajita meat, not a haphazard mix at best. 2. While I was finishing my meager nacho portion, my girl friend was left waiting for her chicken tortilla soup, which never arrived in a timely manner. By the time I was done with my nachos, her soup was still nowhere to be found. 3. When the manager finally checked on us, I expressed my dissatisfaction regarding both the nachos and the delayed soup. We decided to cancel the soup order, to which he inquired, "How long has it been for the soup?" I responded, "How long does it take to make the nachos and how long does it take to eat them?" And then he said, "I'll be right back". Unfortunately, he never returned. 4. After a long wait, the waiter appeared. Upon informing him we wished to cancel the soup, he asked, "Why?" I explained it had taken too long, and we were leaving. His response lacked professionalism; he seemed put off and mentioned, "I just put it in." I then requested it to go, only to discard it later in my trash bin. I, like anyone else, am willing to pay for good service and quality food. However, after this experience, I will think twice about where I spend my hard-earned money. $50 (including tip) for subpar nachos and a soup that never arrived? This was my first visit to Spanish Flowers and I'm not sure why. I came in around 9 on a weekday and was surprised at how busy it was. I was there for a few hours and it was still pretty crowded when I left. The service was okay, but nothing to write home about. I had to remind our server a couple of times about miscellaneous requests. I ordered a margarita flight, and I probably wouldn't do this again. They all come frozen and the flavors are too sweet for me. The food was pretty yummers. I ordered the Spanish Flowers dinner because I love a good sampler - chicken enchilada, pork tamale, beef taco. The meat was tender and came with a tasty gravy. I really liked the grilled fish tacos which came with some of the best charro beans I've had.
