Games are extremely over priced at one dollar per credit minimum. During my visit i personally watched the staff rig one of the claw machines because " customers were winning to often". Lastly, the dress code is ridiculous sleeveless t shirts are banned for men only, extremely short shorts apparently are perfectly acceptable and women are allowed to wear sleeveless shirts. they will be more than happy to provide you with someones stained up work shirt for you to wear during your visit but don't make the mistake of rolling the sleeves up or the terminator wannabe security guard will inform you that its perfectly ok for your children to see someones behind hanging out of shorts but a mans shoulders are terribly offensive. I asked a manager why the sleeveless shirt policy was in place and i was informed that because it was a upscale family environment with a restaurant mens armpits were neither upscale, family friendly, nor acceptable for a restaurant. read more

I went to Spare Time with 3 friends. When we initially approached the customer service counter, the employee was not friendly to say the least. When we asked the gentlemen about pricing, he responded with obvious annoyance AEB: head and eye rolling as well as pure rudeness with attitude verbally expressed. The gentlemen initially redirected us to another customer service rep who informed us that bowling was $29.99/hr and we could extend as needed. We decided we wanted to bowl in the "pin house"; when we told the customer service gentlemen we wanted to bowl in the "pin house", he responded: "Well, I am going have to void this out if you do that." He expressed again extreme annoyance because he did not want to call his manger. A manager came over and was not able to help so another manager came over that was able to fix the problem. (The cost ended up being exactly the same FYI) After waiting approximately 25 minutes to purchase bowling and shoes, we proceeded to the bowling lanes where we waited for our shoes for a few (maybe 5) minutes. Bowling was again $29.99/hr; waiting 5 minutes for our shoes was included in this hour. Also, no one waited on us for about 10 minutes into our bowling. Once our first hour was ending, we contacted the customer service desk where I was greeted with once again, pure rudeness and disrespect. The gentleman acted as if he did not have time to deal with his paying customers. He at this point directed me to speak with his manager. The manager came over at this point and I explained to him what our issue was. I explained to him the lady told us we could pay by the hour. Apparently, you can pay by the hour; however, if there is a waiting list you have to go on the waiting list regardless if you were already there and on a lane. (Again, we were not told this) After speaking to the manager requesting for extra time to finish our game, he refused and defended his employee at the counter. He then proceeded to say that due to Labor Day weekend with the special that they were offering (which was never offered to us in the first place) that they were extremely busy, even though the entire 20 minutes we spoke to the manager there was at least 4 lanes open in the "pin house" alone, we were not allowed to pay for an extra hour to simply finish our game. Horrible manager and horrible customer service all the way around, we will not return and we will continue to pass the word along. As a manager he should have made it right but he took no responsibility for his employees or being wrong. On another note, there was one server who, multiple times said, "I will take care of y'all, I will make it right" -he tried, but obviously what his manager does is out of his control, we did compensate him with a tip to show our appreciation for attempting to make a wrong situation right. read more

It's about time a bowling center is finally built in Temple! Whenever I travel in to visit my family we usually end up going to the movie theater. It's nice to finally have another option to do something else. The only downside to this place is that it's pretty expensive. Be prepared to spend some $$ when you come here. Regular bowling, not including shoes is about $25/hour and the semiprivate pin house is about $30/hour. If you're willing to spend a bit more money, I would definitely recommend the pin house. It's pretty cool to try out at least once. It kind of reminds you of a bachelor/man cave hangout. All in all, despite the prices, it's a really fun place. I spend the money since I don't come here that often and it gives me time to spend with my family. They have nice flat screens everywhere, good music, staff readily available for food and drinks, and everything is always well kept and clean. Our go to destination for fun and good in the area. We love the bowling alley and my kiddos enjoy the laser tag and arcade. The service is always above bar. As far as corporate events are concerned they do a great job at managing the flow and making sure that things are moving along at a good pace. And for kids birthday parties they are the absolute best and the best part about having your child's party here is that not only do they have a blast and go home very tired but you don't have to clean up the mess! read more

Been here several times, good clean place for something fun to do in belton. Video games seem overpriced at about $1 a piece, but bowling is fun. Birthday parties here are fun for children and a strongly enforced dress code ensures a clean environment. read more

OMG - absolutely the worst arcade I've been to. Makes Chuck-e-Cheese look like Disneyland. Horrible service at the bar - waited while two others were served who came after me. Watched as people brought their drinks back because they "tasted like dishwater " . Very limited selection of games for the kids. Laser tag sucked, manager was clueless. Very fun place to take the kidos and adults have fun too. They have two Bowling areas a private sometimes booked are and open area that is pretty much full go all the times you want to bowl. The arcade area is pretty good size but could be bigger but has all the games type you want at a place like this. The laser tag is great and really fun. The area is compact but has two stories and tons of fun. There is a lot of private rooms to rent out which is great but also a downfall as some of that space could be used to expand the other areas. The customer service is good and it has dress codes and rules posted that they do enforce. One the best things about the place is the food. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and selection for a place like this. Great place and very comparable to a place called Main Event down in San Antonio but without the overhead climbing. This is my son's favorite place! Not to mention my husband and I have an awesome time getting to play the games too. So, spare time has something for everyone. They have games for all ages. My son is 18 months and he will play the "baby" games. They have regular games for kids and teens along with laser tag and bowling. A nice winners circle where you can cash in your points. The great thing about this is they have things for adults too so you can reap the benefits of your hard work as well ha. They even do special things for holidays. New year's eve you paid a set price to get in and it included everything : a card that you could use on the games without putting money on it of course the games were just for fun because you couldn't rack up points, bowling and laser tag were included along with a buffet and the food was awesome. They have a fully stocked bar and their pizza is always good. This place is just a general fun family place!! read more

I was here for about 4 hours and was not on my phone the whole time and could commentate on everything except laser tag. Once you enter is somewhat disorganized everyone was in front the desk not showing where the front line was making us go through, trying to bowl on a Friday night around 7-10 is highly busy our wait was 2 hours making us eat there food and Play games. Games are great but to get food you sit yourselves and wait maybe 5 minutes until the service notices you have nothing on your table, there pizza came somewhat quick and was great but more on the cheesy side and grease. My waitress was friendly, energetic to our own level which was great, and checked on us every so often. After pizza came there Funnel Fries which wasn't really worth it, it was small sized okay taste. Then came our time to bowl. Lanes are thinner than usual lanes, the bowling balls are organized well but TOO specific making finding a ball for me difficult. Couches were nice but ball holders capacity was smaller, bowling next another person(s) was tedious on waiting for balls without a divider. In my overall opinion I feel to cramped and which there were more lanes, space and etc. read more

This place was ok but they really jerked me on the bowling, and this is the first bowling facility where they give you time limits which is very obtrusive and hindering to the overall fun of relaxing, bowling, and having fun. You find yourself and your party "rushing" to get through all 10 frames ( by the way they give the same time limit ; 1 hour,no matter how many bowlers are on a lane, I had 8 people on one lane). The resetting of the pins took FOREVER per bowler, and the animations on the score screen are lengthy as well, and mind you none of these factors stop the clock for your time limit. When the time limit runs out, you have only 2 minutes before the game resets, and when I went to extend, I was in line for 5 minutes and on top of all that, the clerk(s) were extremely passive aggressive and patronized me instead of serving me correctly like a paying customer. Overall the place, food, and service were good but Im never going back because of the rude staff ( 2 people) and egregious bowling time limits. read more

Last review was deleted for some reason. So, I went to knock out a set around 5:00 PM 2 weeks ago. The gentleman tells me the price, which was higher than usual. I did not think to question it as it was a small price for one set either way. After paying for it, he refers me to the PIN room. I asked why as that is not what I wanted (this also explains the higher than usual price). He explains that it would be better for me so I am not having to bowl next to other people. There was only one other couple bowling on the traditional lanes. I again refrain from questioning it further as I don't want to deal with any canned response regarding credit card refunds, etc. and figure I'll just deal with the black light lanes. So, I start bowling and as suspected, I'm off because of the black lighting messing with my depth perception. Whatever, I'm here to get a little exercise as well. Well, as I become adjusted to the black light and finally make a strike, I turn around to look at my score and see foul. At this point I'm livid because I was about a foot and a half from the line. I'm guessing because the length from the arrows to the start of the lane is, or appears, longer maybe my ball dropped on the line? Either way, I don't know as I've never had this happen and it's certainly not the experience I paid for. At that point I simply left. I've promised my little sister I will take her there before this issue occurred for helping me, but beyond that, I will not be recommending this place in the future. read more

Spare time is a decent entertainment center offering a full bar, food area, game room, laser tag, conference rooms, private bowling room, and general bowling. Being an avid bowler Spare Time is a double edge sword for me. The lanes are new, however are poorly maintained. Shot is inconsistent from week to week ranging from semi-easy to mildly difficult. Approaches are a nightmare ranging from super slick to dangerously tacky week to week. It is for these reasons along the lack of variety in leagues, and the complete lack of tournaments and pro shop drags the score down from 5 to 3 stars. Spare Time has the ability to drag in a lot of amateur and semi-pro bowlers if they'd cater to them, however the lack of the latter shows they're only concerned with being a "fun center" which is fine, but they're missing a lot of potential earnings. The prices for the general activities are in line with other places, not great, not bad. Bowling prices are also fair. Overall, not a bad place for the family, however if you're looking for competitive bowling, be prepared to drive to Killeen or Waco for better offerings. read more
