So I was honestly back and forth between 2 and 3 stars on this one. I hadn't been here in close to a decade, if not longer, and came here with a friend on a Friday night. The place was pretty steady in the bar area but not crazy packed. I get that this is a local spot, and I love supporting my local businesses, but this one was a bit uncomfortable. Everybody in there stared at us as we walked in and walked around the bar to find a table. Like long stares that followed us as we moved around. We both commented on it as we took our seats. I've been to places that obviously have a regular crowd when I'm clearly an outsider, but they've at least been nice and welcoming. This didn't feel that way. Nobody outwardly acted like they wanted us to leave or anything, but it was still really weird. We each ordered a beer and took some time to look over the menu. They have a lot of options, and we both each decided to go with the smaller 7" pizza. I love that they do have a smaller pizza option for an individual, but so often I find the "personal" pizzas might feed a small toddler, but certainly not an adult who loves pizza. This was a lovely size and I was full when done. Each pizza came out on the kind of paper plate you might buy at the grocery store. We both thought our pizzas tasted like a frozen pizza you might buy at the grocery store, but honestly I really love frozen pizza so I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. Nothing remarkable, but it was good and I ate my whole pizza. It was a torrential downpour while we were there, so we were considering getting another drink and trying to wait it out. But then our server dropped off our bill without saying anything else or asking if there was anything else we needed. We already felt a bit outsider-ish and this was just kind of the final reminder that we weren't regulars here so we decided to pay the bill and go. While this wouldn't be my first option to come back to, I'd happily eat here again if someone else wanted to drop in. read more

It's a small family owned business, second generation that prides itself on crafting every pizza with love and pride. I grew up on this pizza, and I still buy it every time I can when I go home to visit. The delicious recipe hasn't changed, but maybe it's only gotten better. They don't deliver, but the service, whether it's takeout or dine in, is always with a smile. The ambiance isn't modern, but it's homey and comfortable. The two items missed is the Italian Sausage Sandwich & their chicken wings in the reviews. the best sandwich around & don't cheap out get the 1/2 pounder its fantastic with provolone, marinera, peppers rather still crisp. May have to take half home because it's so big. Friendly staff, very reasonable beer specials & good food for much less than you'd ever expect! Our favorite go to when tired of $6.00 plus beers & over priced partly filled glasses of wine. I'd give this local hangout a 10 Star! if I could. read more

First, I will say that everyone (except me) loves pizza and Spartan Pizza is on top of their list. I usually eat something else. Last night I decided I would try something else on their menu. I ordered a grilled veggie sandwich. Their website was difficult and I could not find what veggies were included, but made some assumptions that I shouldn't have. What I got was basically a grilled cheese with grilled onions and grilled tomatoes in it. While it wasn't awful, it was very disappointing to say the least. I'd have ordered a grilled cheese if I wanted a grilled cheese and it would not have had a medium size sliced up tomato and grilled onions on it Even just a few grilled peppers mushrooms, and maybe some squash would have made such a huge difference. I will not order it again. When ordering everything over the phone, because I couldn't order online, I also added onion rings for the family and jalapeño poppers (my weakness). On the website, it says you'd have to choose between cheddar and cream cheese in them, but when I said, I wanted jalapeño poppers with cream cheese, the woman on the line said we don't have poppers with cheese in them. To my delight when I bit into the first one, it did indeed have cream cheese. The family will continue to order pizza there and I will go back to making something else at home or picking something up from somewhere else. read more

The pizza there is absolutely terrible, it's like they've never heard of seasoning. But that's not even the worst part. The worst part is the manager, Shina, who needs to take some courses on customer service, her attitude was absolutely ridiculous. I went there for the very first time 2 weeks ago on a Monday night around 6pm for dinner with my mom and 2 kids. Just as we sat at a high top in the bar area, I asked the bartender if there was a server he said rudely no I'm by myself. I asked for menus and was fine with going up to the bar to order. When I went back to order my sons and order our drinks. He was rude again not paying any attention to what I was saying, looking over at the regulars as if I was annoying him. In the middle of him rushing me for the drink orders, I had changed my mind but he walked away so fast and he didn't hear me. His mind was somewhere else. When he brought the mistake to me because he didn't hear me across the bar he seemed mad at me. I would have even taken the drink and paid for it. But then I was about to order the rest of the drinks and he said "I have to do other things" interrupted me when I felt it was my time to order. Made me feel like we were bothering him to be there. So I said nicely, please cancel my sons pizza and I will pay for this drink but we are going to leave. He didn't make me pay for the soda and He didn't seem to mind we were leaving. Which is too bad. I live in Fl and I'm in the food service business so he would have gotten a great tip. Horrible service for my first time. My mom lives in McFarland and we will never, ever go back. read more

It is always nice to have restaurants close by and in your neighborhood. However, this is an instance in which a family would be better off getting a frozen pizza or better yet, getting a pizza dough and building your own. When asked if anything on the menu was made in-house, the answer was a resigned no. When asked how does a pizza restaurant get away with frozen pizza dough and frozen cheese curds and frozen breadsticks, the answer was, 'well, we used to, but we stopped because it was too much effort.' Hands down best pizza around. I love the small town feel. As a local you are sure to recognize more than a few diners or staff members when you pick your order up. We went there for the first time yesterday, and I would definitely recommend Spartan Pizza. Here's why: - the crust is thin, crunchy on the bottom, chewy on top - the sauce is sweet and savory - the cheese is rich and delicious - the veggies were fresh and tasty We ordered the Canadian bacon deluxe (with onions, green peppers, green & black olives, and mushroom too I think). The Canadian bacon tasted like real meat and is among the best I've had ... not at all like that heavily processed stuff you usually get at the store. The CBD is naturally quite salty from the bacon and olives but I like that. We also had the small salad which was just iceberg lettuce and tomatoes, but what can you expect for $2? I'd bet the pizza salad is much better. The service was casual and friendly. In regards to the atmosphere, we ate in the parlor booth area which is clean enough and family-friendly but quite dated in appearance. We left through the adjoining room which is a bar that has been added on and is much more modern and was populated by locals drinking and eating dinner around the bar. I should also note that the plates for eating pizza are plastic. This is a "no frills" kind of place. read more

Went a few weeks ago. Very friendly staff although a but inattentive at times. The pizza was delicious, very good crust and not too greasy. The waitress suggested the cheese bread and it was pretty good as well. The rest of the menu is pretty much deep fried bar food you'd find anywhere but I will definitely be back for the pizza and a couple beers! read more

I pre-ordered 3 pizzas for a specific date / time and they were RIGHT on the money and ready to go when I came to pick them up. 2 of the pizzas were delicious, heaped with toppings, really good! The taco pizza was a bit strange, it has nacho cheese sauce on it, and it was a bit much for our group. I will definitely order again! in the future, I'm a local and it beats the pants off of Pizza Hut. !! read more

We were greeted about five minutes after we sat down, and were give menus, and told that another waitress would be right with us. We waited for 20 minutes, all the while the waitress helped other diners, and she continued to ignore us. At this point we walked out.
