I recently bought a bike for my girlfriend at Cynergy, and I couldn't have been happier with their customer service. We checked a few places around town, but Cynergy by far had the friendliest, most helpful, and most professional staff. (Thanks Eric!) Even though this is a high-end shop, Eric helped us pick out a model in our price range (around $500). The bike was *almost* right but not quite, so they had their shop assemble the same model in a different size- it took a few days, but when we came bike, the result was perfect! (And in the meantime, Eric recommended another shop where we could rent a bike if we needed.) We'll definitely come back here first for any more purchases, adjustments, and repairs! read more

Very nice cycling shop. The people who work here are very friendly and know their stuff. Contrary to some other reviews, they did try to upsell us a bit, but they gave us some helpful and honest advice about both the more expensive and the cheaper models. The prices are comparable to other bike shops we looked at in the area, maybe a little bit cheaper. But on the 4th of July, they had a "no tax" sale! When purchasing something as expensive as a road bike in Santa Monica, that can be a pretty significant savings... They also had a wide array of bike clothing and accessories, although the clothing tended to be on the more expensive side. Both times I went there they had a tent set up outside with discounted bike clothing (50% off), but it was still rather steep. I would say the biggest drawback of Cynergy is that they exclusively (or at least almost exclusively) carry Specialized bikes. So if you don't like Specialized, this is not the place for you. Make sure you get the yelp app on your phone so you can take advantage of a $10 for $20 deal and a check in offer for a free water bottle! read more

Great first experience. I live nearby but hadn't checked it out until today. If you're shopping for bikes, it seemed like they only had really high end gear. All of the sales crew seemed to know customers on a first-name basis, which was a nice surprise in this town. I picked up some sportswear and a bike light during their "no tax" Memorial Day sale. They let me combine the sale prices with the Yelp $10 for $20 and I made out like a bandit! It was great that the guy who helped me out didn't try to up-sell me on the bike light. I had such a great experience purchasing my road bike through Cynergy! After extensive research I narrowed my bike selection down and headed in to their shop. An employee took the time to find out what I was looking for in a bike, what I'd be using it for, and in the end helped me find -dare I say- the perfect bike! Never in the process did I feel rushed, never in the process did I feel like they were trying to over sell me things, and never in the process did I feel like I wasn't a big enough "bike snob" to be there. They were knowledgeable, friendly, allowed me to test ride several bikes through their neighborhood, and when my bike finally arrived (they had to order my size) they took the time to fine tune the adjustments and give me some pointers on riding and caring for it. Knowing I plan to travel with my bike they let me know I could stop by and grab a bike box any time I needed to ship it and said I could shadow them while they broke it down for me the first time (for a fee) so I'd know how to in the future. ...it doesn't stop there... They've got a couple sales racks in store with some really good finds and tons of fun bike accessories (their water bottles and Pabst-style tool kegs are too cool for school). read more

Great experience this weekend shopping here! Ask for Eric, great guy, super busy but not too busy for you, loves the industry, and has a TON of knowledge and willing to share it with a first time rider. After scouring bike shops from San Diego to LA and browsing all the reviews on Yelp, stumbled upon this store in the way to another local competitor in west LA/Santa Monica. Walked in with a clue of what I was looking for and after 24 hours got a great deal on an '09 Specialized Allez sport and I couldn't be any happier! Had some good knowledge on the industry but nothing to the extent of the friendly service Eric assisted my girlfriend and I with. He helped me pick out a bike in my price range for a first time rider, got me a discount on last years model, got the bike built & outta the box in less that 24 hours. He taught her how to change a flat on her road bike (nerves for trhe LA Tri the next day). I test rode over 10 bikes in total from SD to LA and with the price and the service here feel like I made the best decision. First the good point. Cynergy worked with Specialized to honor a warranty claim on a 20 year old Specialized bike whose frame had cracked. I chose to buy an upgraded new Specialized bike at a large discount. Now the bad: Several things weren't right about the bike initially (Wouldn't shift into lowest gear on cassette, front derailleur needed adjustment, handlebars creaked, handlebars were rotated off center, rear wheel wasn't trued well, front brake pulsed as wheel turned). Right after a 90 day tuneup one of my rear spokes broke. A few months after it was replaced, a couple more spokes broke within a week of one another. After some haggling, Cynergy agreed to respoke the rear wheel with upgraded spokes. The newly spoked wheel was OK for 5 months, then spokes started breaking again. Finally my freehub stopped freewheeling. Cynergy looked at it, accused me of poor maintenance, and placed the blame on me for a bad freehub on a bike with about 3000 miles on it. I did an online search and found that that particular freehub is notorious for seizing up (one reviewer likened it's construction to swiss cheese). I called Specialized Rider Care and described my spoke and freehub issues. They referred me to another local Specialized shop, Wheel World in Culver City. Wheel World submitted the rear wheel for a warranty claim, and I was given upgraded front and rear wheels at no charge. I haven't had anymore spoke nor freehub issues. I recommend Cynergy if you want to spend a lot of money on bike repairs with marginal workmanship, and if you want a shop whose kneejerk response to problems is to blame the customer. read more

When my bike arrived in their shop, it was in a box shipped from Denver and had been broken and beaten in transport. The guys in the shop could not have been more friendly and easier to work with! They worked with the shop in Denver to quickly get my road bike back on the road! They even offered to let me demo their new 2019 specialized road bikes to supplement the time it took in getting the new parts shipped over. So I read everyone else's great reviews of this place, but how nice can people really be at a bike shop. I was wrong, everyone was sooo nice, I even watched them fix a guy's flat tire with a new tube inside for the $10 he had on him so that he could get home. They were super helpful and not pretentious at all. The guys don't work on comission so theirs no pressure to buy or buy up. I didn't buy a bike today b/c I want to check out the bicycle kitchen and see if I can get something for less than $330 that works for me, but I may come back and give them their 5th star if I cant. And I bought said bike... very excited it's exactly what I wanted and aside from the fact there's only like three factories in China that make all the cheaper bikes so I coudl have gotten an exactly the same bike with another paint job for the same price with a different brand name at Helen's, but these guys gave me a free water mount and were super cool. OOOOH and I also met Patrick Dempsey and we hung out... super nice... I'm the bicycle with a basket chick if anyone else meets him, supposedly John Mayer and Carson Daly also hang out there, good reason to come in for a tune up ;). read more

I'm an serious cyclist (road, some mountain, and commute by bike to work virtually every day year round) and I love the staff and service people at Cynergy. Of course, it's virtually a Specialized-only inventory (the Morgan Hill, CA based brand owns the shop) so some may complain that the selection is limited, but what they have covers a wide range of price points and the quality is tops. The staff is knowledgeable and the service department has provided great service to me for years. I had recently had a puzzling creaky/loose headset issue that had been coming and going for awhile. Aaron was able to pinpoint the source of the problem right away and fixed it for me on the spot (it was a weekday morning). I'd also recommend checking out their impressive line of demo bikes. They have a wide range of mountain, road, and electric assist bikes you can rent for a day. It's a cost effective way to borrow a high end ride for a day and if you're in the market for a new bike, the price of the rental can be forwarded towards the cost of a purchase. With so many different genres/species of bicycles out there these days, and amazing roads and mountain trails just up the road, the classic "spin around the parking lot" just won't cut it. read more

This is the way a bike shop should look. From the moment I walked into Cynergy, I was impressed by the layout, the lighting and the presentation of their bikes and accessories. The first thing you should know about Cynergy is that it is a Specialized Bicycles showpiece. They feature - almost exclusively - the Specialized brand in their bike lines and accessories. If you like Specialized you're in for a treat. If you're looking for Cannondale, Santa Cruz or other brands, you'll have to go to Helen's or another shop. I was there for repair on my Specialized Enduro. Their repair staff was very friendly and competent, and helped me ID the bottom bracket I needed quickly. I did the work myself but would have been happy to pay them to do it also. Their shop is well-stocked with every item you need, albeit of the Specialized brand. So I wasn't able to buy a Maxxis tire (etc.) there. Good location in the westside, just far enough from Helens to differentiate themselves. read more

I recently decided to get into mountain biking. My boyfriend used to mountain bike a lot, but he doesn't anymore because he no longer has friends in the area to go with. He's blind and he needs a sighted rider to follow....so, I decided to step up! My friend recommended that I get a Specialized Myka bike, so I headed over to Cynergy (which specializes in Specialized). I am totally new to biking and was excited to purchase a bike. My excitement quickly fizzled. I was completely ignored for a good 20 minutes, and they weren't even that busy. I felt like I had to pester them just get someone to help. Once I was finally helped, the guy was nice and seemed knowledgeable, but there was nothing personal about the service. I took a test ride around the block, and he recommended that I try the same bike but with a larger frame. However, they didn't have one built like that, and he told me to come back the next day. The guy helping me introduced me to his coworker and told me his coworker could help me the next day since he wouldn't be there. I showed up the next day and the coworker looked at me like he'd never seen me before. I told him why I was there, and he went back to get the bike. The bike had been built so I could test ride it; I appreciated that they had done that on schedule. The guy helping me though seemed like he could not care less. He barely talked to me or asked me any questions. I took the bike for a spin around the block, loved it, and decided to purchase it. After I just paid over $500 for a bike (which I realize for serious bikers isn't a lot, but for most people it is), I wasn't even offered help to my car. I mean, I'm a strong girl and I can take care of it myself, but it would have been nice if they had at least offered. The store is large and has a huge selection, but I wasn't thrilled with the service. I really want this to be "my bike shop" - the place where they know my name and where I can go to get advice, buy accessories, and learn more about biking. I will give them a couple more tries and hope that the service is better. I will update my review in the future and let you know! read more

I loved this store. I came looking for a new bike to do a little trail riding and to start training for a 100 mile bike race for teamintraining.org The staff was completely helpful. He suggested two bikes for me based on what I planned to do and allowed me to ride them around a few blocks to give them a try. Afterward, I couldn't decide and needed some time. No pressure at all... he said to take my time and come back whenever I decided. Which was a few hours later. Excellent service and a huge selection (of Specialized and Bianchi bicycles). The bike I bought was also $100 under MSRP (normally $1100). Very friendly and knowleadgable service. Come on in if you're interested in purchasing a quality bike or have questions. read more

There are so many things I love about this place. I'm new to cycling and HATE being new to things. I don't like admitting knowledge gaps and asking questions or worse yet feeling like I'm being talked down to. THEY DON'T DO THAT HERE. Alex (who was amazing, they're lucky to have him) sold me a great bike. Brynn fit it for me later on and was also great. They are being flexible with my 90 day tuneup since I couldn't bring it in in time and said no problem they'd do it whenever. And if you buy a piece of gear there, they install it for you. The service dept also helps answer mechanical questions after a repair so you can avoid the problem in the future/fix it yourself. Not just the best customer service for a bike shop I've encountered in LA, but maybe the best customer service PERIOD. Can't recommend strongly enough. read more

A higher end road and mountain bike shop which also carries around-town, commuter bikes. Very down to earth staff, and extremely helpful mechanics. The price range may seem a bit high, but you will get what you pay for. Not sure of his affiliation with Cynergy, but Ron Peterson offers very thorough bike fits, even at the entry level. You'll walk out with a better understanding of your body's biomechanics and you'll feel looser and more powerful on your ride. Not only are they professional at selling you the right bike and maintaining it, but they also create a sense of community through weekend road and mountain group rides, various in-store presentations, and even some bike advocacy events. read more

This is the place to go for a bike shop. They are new, energetic and looking to please. I have dropped some major coin in here and i don't regret it at all (well a little when my credit card bill comes but not when i'm on my two wheeled machines). I started here by buying my bianchi 928 last fall and followed that up with a Rocky Mountain mountain bike upgrade in January. I found them because they were local and now that I am moving downtown from the westside I will travel over to them for my cycling needs. I've also used Ron Peterson who does their bike fittings for them now and highly, highly highly recommend getting one done if you are on a bike that is not feeling right. 2 hours with Ron has comepletely transformed the way my body and my bike work together. My only complaint is that they push specialized accessories a little too much, a larger selection in components would be great. I hgihly recommend making this your bike shop of choice!!!! read more

This place is pricey for bike service and repairs in particular. Rear wheel alignment, pedal change (not including pedals), and new tube set me back $150. I opted to not get any basic service done after those necessities were out of the way. The people were friendly and the customer service is definitely decent, but they need more staff on the weekends. Be prepared to wait. In short, for a novice bike rider like myself, this is not the place to go. You'll get everything you need but you will pay, and wait, a lot. read more

Even if they didn't have the part that I wanted in stock, they were VERY quick to refer me to another store to get me up and running. Excellent honesty and service I brought in my rear wheel to get a new rim installed. This is an involved process; all the spokes need to be taken off and the hub+spokes transferred to the new rim. The mechanic originally told me that I'd have to buy all new spokes since the new rim was not quite as aero as the old one (meaning, slightly larger radius). Even though the spokes were pretty much brand new, I agreed. When I went in to pick it up, it turns out that they were able to save the original spokes because they discovered that the spokes had just enough length inside the old rim to safely fit the new rim. This demonstration of honesty by the shop saved me $70 that I had already agreed to spend. The rim came out perfectly true and the spokes are tight. It was an excellent experience. read more

I could easily ramble on about all of the little things this shop has done to help me out in the past but the following story really shows why they are a great shop, deserving of your hard earned money. A few weeks back, my girlfriends bicycle was stolen and because of my previous experiences at Cynergy they were the first stop on the replacement hunt. When we got to the shop, Matt greeted me and asked what we were in for, I explained our situation and he asked my gf directly what she was looking for in a bike, and most importantly he listened to every thing she said, and treated her with a great deal of respect. She test rode a few bikes, and each time Matt helped adjust the saddle and bars as needed and provided the same level of service that one would expect buying a $10,000 S-Works bike, not a recreational around town bike. Matt explained the finer points of the bicycle, and helped get us through the checkout process quickly and efficiently. Major thumbs up to the crew at Cynergy Cycles for promoting the sport of cycling through friendly, non-elitist service, which unfortunately is found at many bike shops in the area. A+! read more

Never Again. This is pretty much an ebike store now. I have been a loyal Cynergy/Specialized customer since they opened. I have spent far too much money (happily)over the years, but after what I saw today, I will never be coming back. Most of the store is now some weird douchey ebike display. What few "regular" bikes they have left are hidden in the back. I came in to drop 4k on a bike and they really didn't seem to have any interest in selling me one. The salesperson had no knowledge of the Specialized product line (that's all they sell now) and made no offer to look into the model I was asking about. But they had lots of evokes! If this is what Specialized has become,count me out. read more

This is the fanciest bike store I have ever been to! They carry brands that the other local bike shops don't carry. The service is good, knowledgeable and friendly but not pushy. If you are looking for a bike they will talk to you but won't put on the sales pressure. Test ride as many bikes as you want because you should if you are going to drop that much money. The prices are decent but I didn't buy my bike here because I found it somewhere else for $500 less at the time. Easy parking, good layout, lots of clothes, bikes, accessories, and anything else you'd need at your LBS. Employees were all very nice; I watched one try and recalibrate a Performance-branded bike computer for a drop-in. Most other places would just tell you to go where you bought it for help. Only negative is that as others have said, it's a Specialized store so most of their products are just that. But they do carry a few other brands worth checking out (Ridleys, etc). Their team riders are generally very friendly as well. read more

I've been here several times even though they are not my local bike store (LBS). They have a HUGE selection of specialized bikes -- which is fantastic if you are a specialized fan. I've always had great customer service here. The people are attentive and always very helpful. I have never experienced the lack of service that some people here have felt. Maybe I've been lucky? Then again, I'm the type of customer who wants to be left alone. I'll ask for help if I want help. My only criticism about the customer service is that they can be a tad slow when ringing people up (by "they" I mean one particular customer service rep). I don't want to single this guy out because he's incredibly nice and helpful, but maybe too nice in that he doesn't when to cut off conversations with his customers so he can help those who are waiting to pay. I also got a great deal on a 2010 Specialized test bike!!!! The price for their other bikes are a tad more expensive than other stores (e.g. The Path in Orange County), but not so much more so that an avid cyclist would avoid buying anything here. read more

After waiting for half hr surrounded by dozens of people rushing there, I decided to give "Specialized" shop in SM a shot. Thank God I did. Shon Swett was the associate who assisted me with my cycling shoes issue. He listened patiently what I was struggling with, he shared his two cents on what the root cause of my problem could be, he adjusted my cleats, and had me try on new shoes as well as try on some shoe inserts, which I ended up purchasing. It was an absolute pleasure to made felt welcome, advised, and helped. I wish there were more kind associates like Shon who genuinely try to help their customers rather than being annoyed by the fact they have to work. Kudos to Cynergy Cycles! Cynergy teamed up with Team in Training (the fundraising arm of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) and to encourage additional fundraising they donated a bike! Way to support the community AND a great charity! In addition to being a great addition to the community, they provide the best service in town with a group of employees that really want people to just enjoy cycling. EVERYONE that works there knows cycling and if they are not THE expert in what you are asking - they will grab the person that is. I also love that they always seem to have enough staff to serve all of the clients in the store. Anyone that is new to the sport OR an expert has a home at Cynergy! They take care of us newbies with the patience of a saint (trust me, I have tested this) and I have overheard discussions that I did not even pretend to understand with what I presume to be expert cyclists. Was in the market for a new bike, and made this store a destination spot due to selection and prices. Was a loyal Trek rider previously, but liked Specialized offerings in Fitness/Hybrid bikes. So glad I did. Patrick was great and very patient. Must have ridden several models 5 times each in order to decide. He offered plenty of helpful advice and never rushed of pressured me at all. Wound up buying a Sirrus Elite Carbon Disc hybrid bike and got a great deal. Love the bike and brand so far. Threw in a thorough bike fitting for no extra charge. This will be my new go to bike shop. I had the best experience at Cynergy Cycles. It was my first time at the shop, and it won't be the last. I came in to get a new tire and to get my shifting checked. The entire experience was quick, fun and so welcoming because of the staff. Ellis was welcoming and helpful with questions, and Brandon fixed my shifting so quickly. My bike rides perfectly now, and he really took the time to be sure it was working and even wiped down my bike making it look brand new. The whole experience was really made by Shon though, he took the time to help me carry in and out my bike, made sure my tire was fixed up and helped me pick out new gloves.
